The whole trap issue is hilarious because of the parallel to queer. Anilist (an anime website/community) even banned the word for being transphobic.

People wanna call themselves queer? Sure, even though it makes some LGB people uncomfortable! It's a valid identity after all! And let's even call the community at large queer, and call others queer even if they don't like using the word!

People wanna call themselves trap? Wait, it makes trans people uncomfortable, so let's ban it! And let's pretend no one identifies as that, so we don't have to think about it as a valid identity!

Eric seems like the type of guy I'd be friends with.

Is it really fine to talk this way? Even “among us guys”? I know there are cisgender men out there that are bothered by these types of remarks and even feel uncomfortable hearing them.

She says, while also finding it impossible to refer to gay men using non offensive words. Apparently gay men being bothered and uncomfortable by a homophobic word doesn't matter.

I’ve stood in leather bars while title holders who call themselves trans-inclusive yammer about how men whose dicks aren’t big enough are just a waste of air. I’ve heard size queens exclaim outright that any man with a two inch dick might as well just kill himself and end the shameful misery.

And surely she couldn't care less about small sized gay men that might feel bad because of this, they're just colateral damage in her argument.

I bet many lesbians and straight/bi men also find vaginas God's greatest gift. But of course you need to go after the group who isn't interested in it, uh?

And it's not sexism to acknowledge the opposite sex is hard to date. Sure gay/lesbian relationships have their own issues, but straight relationships are loaded with society's expectations and stereotypes. When I date another man we don't have to deal with expectations on how should men treat women or how should women treat men.

Frankly if this was just some random actress whatever, it's her life. But it's really disappointing coming from an actress that turned herself into a lesbian icon, that was upfront about her sexuality, but apparently he was never a woman, so also not a lesbian woman.

In a post where he mentions the words "trans" and "queer" multiple times, not once there is a mention of "lesbian" or "gay" - although these were the words Ellen used before, these were the communities she fought for. But apparently we were just stones to step on the way.

Reasonable comment. I mean, again: why come to gay men to ask this question? If that's such a straight relationship having straight sex this should have nothing to do with gay men, right?

There's always the chance this is just a troll, but still...

Nope, sexuality is based off secondary sexual characteristics, not primary ones. You don’t wait until you see the dick before you lust after a hottie.

I’m straight, because her face is pretty and I want to motorboat her tits. I don’t like how men’s bodies look.

Ah, yeah, yet again the "secondary sexual characteristics" argument. Maybe someone should warn flatchested women that now they're men, since apparently motorboattable chests are a requirement to be a woman.

If you dated a trans woman, are you still gay?

Using their same argument: you also don't wait until you know the gender the person identifies before you lust after a hottie. What if it's a hot person with a dick and you don't know that person identifies as transwoman?

There are many straight and lesbian users in these gay subs, and you don't see them making threads about it. The reason why trans men demand so much to be included is not because they're being banned from discussions. Gay and lesbian DO include trans people, and if you're attracted to non-binary people you're not gay and/or lesbian.

It's always funny when TRAs aren't updated to the wokest TRA views. You can probably be banned from ActualLesbians if you say lesbians aren't attracted to non-binary people.

Gay men have no business speaking on the sexuality of lesbians.

He said that after making the comment above mentioning lesbians

You're not a lesbian

And this was after the comment above

These were all comments made by the same person in the same train of comments. It's hilarious, he really can't decide if he can speak for lesbians or not.

Send me a message when ANYONE (cis or trans) is willing to fuck you and we can chat about trans discourse.

And it all ends with the incel tactic of "actually I wasn't into you anyway". Yeah, TRAs continuously demand attraction from gays/lesbians, continuously try to redefine our sexualities, continuously talk about their genitals in our spaces, continuously demand validation from you... But if you say anything about it suddenly they'll claim no one is interested in you.

"I have several, they're made of silicone" is such a weak response. They act like only FtM discovered dildoes exist. Meanwhile plenty of gay men out there have their silicone dildoes while also having their actual dicks.

And one of the few things I know about this show is that it was supposed to be gritty, and the gay characters often went through complex storylines and experienced homophobia. But the moment they introduce a FtM character it has to be a sanitized narrative that completely follows the protrans ideology.

It's also hilarious how they keep pressuring gay men to date them but when they face rejection suddenly it's "I can fuck any guy here, I don't need your cisgender ass". Truly like incels who say the girl who rejected them is ugly.

The "but what if a cis man loses his penis in an accident???" argument is so dumb.

Sure, he would still be a man! But yeah, like it or not he would become undesirable for most romantic/sexual partners. These people talk as if dickless cis men are walking around being sex symbols and people are only rejecting the poor transmen.

In fact, do they think we cis people are all sex hounds? We all get rejected, many of us are frustrated with our sex lives. Yet they act like they're the only ones that ever get rejected and that they're suffering the biggest oppression ever because of it.

Not to mention that losing your penis doesn't mean you'll suddenly get a vagina. It's like someone losing an arm in an accident. Losing an arm is not the same thing as an alien trying to pass as human while having tentacles in place of his arms.

Since when does not wanting to have sex with someone/not finding them attractive mean that you dislike them as a group?

Fair question.

because if someone states "I don't want to date/have sex with trans people" and don't reach any definitive conclusions other than "because they're trans" then that's generalizing that demographic.

you see a trans person you find extremely attractive and go "ah, they're trans, shame. If only they'd been cis I would've dated them" then it really begs the question "why does it matter?"

And of course that would be the answer. Generalizations are fine when it comes to attraction. I don't need to meet all women and I don't need to come with some big reasonings just to say I'm not attracted to women.

I also love the premise of "you see a trans person you find extremely attractive". Sorry, but that never happened.

I wonder if they realize how gaslighting they are. You can't say "you don't need to justify your reasons" and then go on to say how your reasons are bad and you have to unpack them.

If you are excluding an entire group of people, based solely on their membership in that group, you are bigoted. Reasons matter.

If not dating someone actually means being bigoted, then what you're doing is just making the word "bigoted" lighter. Also come on, this person is all over the thread claiming that preferences are bad and people's reasons are bad, but then they go to say "you don't have to justify your reasons".

[–]8bitgay 42 insightful - 4 fun42 insightful - 3 fun43 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

There's this idea that only people of a certain minority can reclaim a slur used towards that minority.

In that context, when a transman who claims to be gay uses homophobic slurs, it's like saying "I can use these words because I'm gay". When they keep using these slurs and nobody calls them out, it's like the people around them are supporting their idea that they're a real gay man.

At the same time, it serves as a way to be offensive towards actual gay men. And if these gay complain about being called homophobic slurs, well, you can call them transphobes for it.

So for them it's killing two birds with one stone.

The thing though is that non-binary people never follow their own rules.

"Gay people feel attracted to all men, not to dicks!" they say, implying that gay men should feel attracted to anyone who identifies as a man. And then the non-binaries go to gay dating apps and demand that gay men date them, even though they clearly don't identify as a man.

A common argument I see is that trans people can be gay/lesbian too, so while they can have trans-only space, a transgay would fit a gay-only space and a translesbian would fit a lesbian-only space.

I've also seen the point of "this is a gay space, not a cis gay space!!!", but of course if we started creating spaces that were explicitly cis gay only they would complain about it too.

That is the weird thing, they might say "I just want to live" but somehow having sex with gays and lesbians is part of just living? I mean, lots of gay men have trouble finding dates, finding love, having sex, etc., it isn't easy for anyone. Jacob Tobia and Alok Vaid-Menon are femme nonbinary icons. But that won't get them dates, and the reasons why speak volumes about our discomfort with those who exist between genders.

I'm getting repetitive, but gosh they contradict themselves so much.

Their definition of being gay, lesbian, bisexual or straight all exclude non-binary people, at least in theory. According to them, gay men feel attraction to everyone who identify as men (including trans men in their view). Their definitions of lesbian/bisexual/straight follow the same pattern.

By their own definition, non-binary people aren't men/women. Even if they claim to sometimes identify as men/women, it still means they aren't men/women. If someone identifies as male 90% at the time, how could I date that person? Should I ignore them during that 10% of time they identify as non-male? By their own definition, as a gay man, if I dated someone who don't identify as man 100% of the time I'm invalidating their gender identity.

The supposedly femme-friendly gay guy they'd been hanging out with for weeks told them he didn't end up reciprocating their crush.

Here, for example. For all we know the gay guy in question might be dating lots of feminine men. But somehow he needs to date someone who doesn't identify as man? This isn't being unfriendly to feminine people, this is following your own sexuality, and by their own rules on top of that!

"OMG, I'm going to switch my gender to 'woman' too so I can look at straight guys!" / I personally felt that dating straight-identified men was the right choice. / "Straight boys are soooo cuuuute," Alok said as they and Jacob started swiping

Funny how they never thought about trying to go for other non-binary and pansexual people. Totally fine for them to have their preferences, it seems.

Instead, what I learned during the social experiment that followed is that Jacob and Alok, like many gender nonconforming femmes, live in a world where admirers applaud them for their radical politics on social media, and people they're attracted to associate with them because of their slayworthiness and social capital, but refuse to make love to them, or at least fuck them well.

This here is just amazing. So what they're saying is that these people are already admired and respected. So what they're looking for is not to be respected - they're demanding sex, and in a very clear, incel-like way.

Thanks for sharing this article. I think this is a valuable answer for when people say things like "no one is demanding sex, we just want to be respected".

[–]8bitgay 24 insightful - 3 fun24 insightful - 2 fun25 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Not a single argument, but I find it interesting how often TRAs contradict each other. For example:

In our LGB definition sexuality depends on sex. Gay men want men of the male sex.

For them, initially, gender is all. The way you identify is the most important thing and defines also your placement in relation to people's sexualities. So if you identify as man, you're a man. In this definition, gay men want men - and everyone who identifies as man fits this.

This leaves large gaps in a TRA mindset, but maybe the largest gap has the non-binary shape. After all, non-binary people (and other neo-gender identities) don't identify as man. So now gay men want masculinity - everyone who performs masculinity fits this, regardless of identifying as man.

Obviously this invalidates men who aren't masculine enough. Ironically, it even invalidates non-masculine transmen.

There are more versions of this "gay men don't feel attracted to genitals, they actually feel attracted to X" argument, and they all keep contradicting each other. But these 2 are the ones I remember right now. Feel free to reply adding more of these arguments that you might have heard!

It's really interesting, right? People can make gender identity and sexuality so malleable. Someone who is not a woman can identify as lesbian. At the same time, people can also make these labels very specific. So someone who is just a regular straight woman will claim she's actually she's actually a greysexual demiboy. Every definition is valid.

But the moment a guy says he's only into men with dicks, or a girl says she's only into women with vaginas? Oh no, that is unacceptable. For them the definitions of gay/lesbian aren't malleable enough to fit actual homosexual people, and there aren't specific labels to accomodate us because our sexuality isn't valid.

I think most of these men are probably just looking for a vent for their homosexual desires. And after years of being told by society that man + man = bad, it's easier for them to fulfill these desires if they come with a feminine figure.

It's funny when they hide or ban all LGB people who disagree and then go saying "the people who claim to be LGB are just straight homophobes pretending to be gay!".

It's even funnier how they say it one moment but the next one they accuse cis gay men of being racist, sexist, transphobic, etc.

I mean, choose a line!
