That part pissed me off the most! You aren’t offering cis men anything but jealously and are crying about them not actively seeking out your hatred and I imagine your desperate need for validation and lecturing on your personal gender politics. Real men aren’t conditioned to put up with that shit.

dont see why you would be pissed off at all. They are just confused that a gay club is all transwomen. And the comments also agree with you. That theyre toxic to "cis gay men"

I am cackling so hard at this. Things were getting bad in GSA clubs even 20 years ago when I was in college. It was all weird-haired, poor hygiene, ugly tattoo, pansexual queer weirdos in there. Us normies didn't need to join because it was a very LGB-friendly west coast city anyway and if you wanted to make LGB friends, all you had to do was be friendly with your classmates, you didn't need an actual club. Buf for years I've been hearing that it's getting worse and worse. It looks like the TQ+ finally managed to murder the GSA clubs both in high school and college. Good job guys! You managed to do what even the homophobes could not!

Every single person who attends our GSA is AFAB. Every single one, and most are cis. Currently I'm the only man in attendance but even I am trans. Where are all the men?

Wait, so OP can acknowledge the difference between cis men and trans?

Comment A: Because everyone likes to shit on cis men and exclude them. They just don't feel welcomed when most people threaten violence against cis men. Just overgeneralizing the entire population of cis men.

Comment B: I've seen that happen a lot in the feminist collective at my university. At the beginning, the were 80% of AFAB people and all AMAB people were cis. At the end of the year, only lesbians and AFAB enbies stayed. I was somewhat respected because I was a trans guy, aka not-a-true-man

Gosh this is amazing, so close yet so far

[–]Q-Continuum-kin 29 insightful - 1 fun29 insightful - 0 fun30 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

The top comment there is actually really on point. "Cis" men get treated like shit in the whole intersectional TQ feminism space which dominates politically correct spaces online and in university. It's no surprise that they don't want to participate in the group which might just shit talk them the entire time they would be there.

Side note is I had a funny opposite experience at a university I attended. The official LGBT space which was run by a paid administrator turned incredibly toxic because the admin was "modernizing" everything to align with x y z national policies. What had been a fun and safe and interesting place became incredibly boring, toxic, and depressing place to be. All of the student staff who had seniority over the admin were now being driven to depression by the new admin because all the policies were being explicitly changed against the will of the student staff and members who showed up.

The one lgb group which the admin had no control over was the GSA because that was a student organization and that group would openly go against the extreme changes. The admin could and did hang job security over the heads of the staff working there so they were forced to go along with whatever the policy was. The GSA was public and openly critical of the admin in certain cases. This caused the admin to be furious that they couldn't create a unified voice with the admin as the clear point of authority. The person was obsessed with being seen as the only authority figure on LGBT+++++ issues on campus. The admin would openly and often talk about how they couldn't wait for 4 or 5 years to pass because then all the students would be graduated out of the campus and there would no longer be anyone left to remember what it was like before that person took over. At that point they could control over the GSA and the staff would stop resenting being treated like shit etc.

I don't actually know how it turned out. I only kept in touch with that center to give support to the people that were being driven into depression.

The top comment there is actually really on point.

Just to be clear, the thread is on contest mode, so each person will see a different comment on top.

I'd say that overall the thread has kinda sensible comments, more reasonable than the other threads that tend to get posted here. Overall reading this thread my feeling was more of "so close yet so far", they're more reasonable than what you see from the TRA but not quite there yet.

I feel like part of it is that some of these people grew up in more lgbt friendly spots or families and don’t fully comprehend what it’s like growing up as a cis gay or bi dude in an unwelcoming family or community.

This comment for example, it's not just about growing up in lgbt friendly spots/families. A girl who calls herself gay genderfluid will never experience the hardships gay men experience growing up. Hell, depending on how she identifies herself she doesn't even need to let her family know about the "queer" part, because she could easily only perform "queerness" in spaces where she knows it's safe.

For people like this it is easy to think "well my experience is easy so men can only get it easier".

It’s a terrible generalization; I came out as bi in college and it was a bad experience at a cornfield college. Also has nothing to do with the fact straight and gay men want nothing to do with this club; OP is just being sour grapes about it because they don’t realize how actually toxic and uninviting they are to anyone who isn’t an insecure handmaiden

Regardless of whether the leader was trans, I wouldn't join a GSA club period. Even if it was run by real gay men. Because -

  1. Not all of us are "out" and want to be, some are secret and content that way.
  2. Not all of us use our sexuality as a defining personality trait
  3. Not all of us find sexuality interesting and something worth bonding over
  4. Not all of us support "pride" and LGBT movements
  5. Why go to that when I can go to a club that's actually fun and productive?

[–]florasisHOMOSEXUAL FEMALE/Pussy is my God and I'm monotheist 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Especially number 2. I always found specific sexuality based place as boring and pathetic. Sexuality has never been a defining trait, and even if isn't exactly a secret, it's not even something I will reveal thoughtless. My relatives still don't know that. Even in more accepting places, people will see you differently when they know.

[–]OPPRESSED_REPTILIANIntersex male | GNC | Don't call me "a gay", "twink" or "queen" 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

It's very much a secret for me for personal reasons, but even if it wasn't... well my straight friends don't go around reminding everyone that they're straight, they have a big Straight Aesthetic Identity and that they have tons of straight sex every day to STICK IT TO THE MAN, so yeah.

I don't think there really are "accepting places." Not that I personally want acceptance, really. But the way I see it, homosexuality is viewed one of two ways. Disgusting illegal sinner, or OMG YAAAS QUEEN UR SO PRECIOUS, PERFORM FOR US. Neither are better than the other, and weirdly, sometimes it's even a mix of the two.

[–]florasisHOMOSEXUAL FEMALE/Pussy is my God and I'm monotheist 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, you are right. We maybe got something in common: both homosexuals allergic to gay spaces lol

I think today west is accepting, but a lot of people will still see you strangely if you tell them, because it's out of the ordinary. Not to talk about the same sex people who will think you want to sleep with them and mistake you being kind with sexual interest.

It would be interesting to find out whether the OP is lesbian or straight, because that would shed light on why she’s posting this rant on the internet. If she’s a lesbian then she’s probably wanting men around for validation (be “one of the guys”), and if she’s straight she probably wants both the validation and men to hit on.

Either way I’m hoping there’s a legion of underground gay/bi men’s groups that Gayden has probably heard about but doesn’t know how to infiltrate!😂

[–]LiterallyawomanTERF IRL[S] 19 insightful - 4 fun19 insightful - 3 fun20 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

Edit: OP has recently posted about doubting they are actually trans, admits they have no body dysphoria regarding their vagina ahah y i k e s

Well OP has had top surgery and posts about what they find attractive in men so I’m guessing it’s the latter. Can’t wait to see updated posts on their dating woes because straight and gay men don’t want to date them...

[–]Tikiri 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This comment is just damn good:

College lgbt spaces and just like leftist college spaces in general like to act as if cis gay and bi dudes don’t go through struggles too and are regularly made to feel unwelcome and like privileged invaders in those spaces. I saw this on my college campus. I feel like part of it is that some of these people grew up in more lgbt friendly spots or families and don’t fully comprehend what it’s like growing up as a cis gay or bi dude in an unwelcoming family or community. Also just like a seeming ability to forget that an entire generation of gay and bi men were wiped out by AIDS not too long ago. Also that the vast majority of homophobic rhetoric is directed at the idea of two cisgender men together.

I’m not gonna sit and say that being a cis man doesn’t provide you privileges but lumping cis gay and bi men in with cishet dudes is entirely uncalled for and requires a really narrowminded focus on what life is like in 2020 in a very small subset of hyper lgbt accepting areas.

TRAs have an completely inflated sense of victimization which is not remotely reflective of reality. Yeah, no s*** there's gonna be people who don't want trans appropriating the spaces meant for the opposite sex. That doesn't indicate that trans are oppressed. These are the type of people the term "oppression points" was coined for. They keep trying to gaslight people into thinking "cis" is more privileged somehow, whether they are gay, bi, or straight. Sorry, I still don't believe that at all.

[–]luckystar 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Original post:

The GSA is shitty I mean, people can do whatever they want. Every single person who attends our GSA is AFAB. Every single one, and most are cis. Currently I'm the only man in attendance but even I am trans. Where are all the men? Why don't they come to the club? We are deffinetly inclusive to men and welcome everyone LGBT or not. I think it's probably because A) it's a pretty homophobic state so a lot of guys don't come out especially if they are bi and can pretend to be straight B) there's no men there, it's a self perpetuating cycle. Women are generally less criticised for their sexuality and so I think a lot of women come out or accept themselves before college where as men tend more to find themselves in college.

I've heard a lot about this issue of cis men not attending GSAs and I feel kinda bad because I am a part of that issue but at the same time I hold this club together and I have a right to be there. I worked hard to get into the leadership position I'm in and I'm damn good at it, also I won it in a 12-0 vote. I'm just not sure how I'm going to help the club attract and retain male members, because cis gay and bi men really need the support our club offers.

Tbh i think you have the wrong take here. This seems fine to me. You know how some people on this sub have been annoyed that when they go to lgbt gathering and only see trans and nb? Hes saying the same exact thing. That it sucks no cis man is there. That its a shitty situation. And in the comments they talk about hate against "cis gay men ". Whats wrong with this post?

And then the top thread in the subreddit talks about how repeating transwomen are women sounds very cultish and doesn't help. And then one of the comments said he doesnt care how people seem them in their head as long as they respect his pronouns. This is the most sane trans sub I've ever seen.

[–]oofreesouloo⚡super lesbian⚡ 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

It's not the same thing. Because we, as gay people, want other gay people to bond with. We have 0 in common with trans and nb people. He, as a TRANS person, wants CIS people for validation. Different.

[–]aftx 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

For validation? Like wanting them to acknowledge them? You know how SJWs look for things to be outraged over even when its something benign? This post comes off as the same thing, looking to be mad. This is a benign post that he linked. In fact the comments talk about hostility to " cis gay men" in their circles.

[–]oofreesouloo⚡super lesbian⚡ 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, they want validation all the time. Yes, wanting them to acknowledge the transman AS A MAN, as one of "their group", that's why it's so important for this trans man to have specifically CIS men there and not cis OR trans men.
