So: anyone going back to (or starting to post on) Twitter? I deleted my account because I couldn’t stand the cesspool it was a couple of years ago, although I met some awesome GC/radfem (not always both) people, including some great trans people believe it or not. But it just got too much after a while.

Now, with Elon “freeing the bird” (“flipping the bird”??🤔), I’m wondering whether it would be safe to go back. I mean, I’m definitely going to wait and see if they’ll continue to kick people out for asserting biological reality, but I miss the friendships I had on there.

Ugh, that’s truly awful and tragic! The heatwave has ended - for now! - but not before it set off some horrific wildfires, which we haven’t had all year, until now. Any Californians here? We just had the heatwave-from-hell where temps climbed to 115 F (that’s 46 C), in September! Made me wonder (truly) how people handle temps like this in desert environments like Arizona, etc.? If you’re from a desert place, does it get cooler at night?

Y’all, go watch Top Gun Maverick‼️ OMG I don’t even remember the last time I was this entertained and exhilarated by a movie! The action/flying scenes are un-freaking-believably good (hardly any CGI)! The cast is really diverse and everyone is awesome too - no “token” minorities, the principal characters all have important and powerful roles, and there’s a woman fighter pilot, aiiieeeeeeee‼️😃👏🏼 She actually takes part in the super-dangerous mission too, instead of staying behind on the ship, or something like that.

It’s appropriate for children aged 10+, no explicit scenes, so parents and guardians can take the kiddos if they’re not too young. There’s some language, but these days nothing they won’t hear on school playgrounds.

I recommend seeing it on IMAX if possible. SO worth it! Honestly, chances are you’ll love it even if you don’t like action films.

And, ahem, lots of eye candy for both sexes.😉 Just like in the first film!

Now, that’s still a much smaller percentage of R support for gay marriage (55%) than D support (83%), but it’s also a 10% increase since 2015, which I think is quite significant. And it is a majority, which seems realistic to me.

And of course, my opinions are very influenced by my own experiences: the conservative people I know who support same-sex marriage are all middle aged and younger. I don’t really know that many older people, and the older (70+) folks who support it are Dem/left-leaning. Also, I live in California which may be a whole different thing altogether!😂

I don’t know ... I just don’t think this will happen, at least not in our lifetime. Now, I may just be a hopeless “look on the bright side” optimist, or maybe clueless about the intricacies of legal procedures, especially when it comes to the SC.

However, the fact remains that most American conservatives oppose abortion, whereas most conservatives seem to be okay with gay marriage and gay people in general. I live in a conservative area and no right-wing person I know is against LGB people, and we’re talking diehard MAGA people here.

That said, trans is a totally different story! The only people I know who support hardcore trans ideology and gender ideology are very left wing people. And maybe that’s the thing: the more LGB people align themselves with transgenderism, the more support they’ll lose with conservative heterosexuals.

But for now, there are too many high-level conservatives who are LGB, or have family members who are (cf. Dick Cheney!), so I just don’t think the anti-LGB sentiment is there the way anti-abortion and anti-gender ideology views are.

I have to more or less wing it because there are no guidelines for this kind of Talk (paging LGB Alliance!). Which sucks because I don’t want my son to think LGB includes T, unless it’s about actual gay/bi trans people, but we haven’t got that far yet. Anyway, I keep reiterating that nothing’s wrong with being gay or bi, but that a man can’t turn into a woman just by taking hormones, and vice versa.

Anyone like mystery/thriller novels? I just read a really good one: Bath Haus by P.J. Vernon! It’s quite o.t.t., like a gay version of a Lifetime movie🤣 ... but it’s well-written and a definite page-turner. It’s about a man, Oliver, who cheats on his older, wealthy physician partner/fiancé with an anonymous hottie he encounters at a bath house in Washington DC (where the story takes place). Said hottie turns out to be a psycho who almost chokes Oliver to death, but he makes a narrow escape and thinks he can put it behind him. Hahaha NOPE! Things go from 0 to 11 in no time, and the story gets crazier and twistier till the very end.

Won’t give away any spoilers, but it’s a great read, and if you’re a thriller/mystery fan you’ll love it!

I truly think that one of the reasons homophobia is more accepted now is because TRAs perpetuate a LOT of it themselves.

I googled her, and though I can see how she may not look stereotypically “feminine”, I don’t think she looks like a man. To me, she looks like a woman who wears more masculine clothing/hairstyle/etc.

And I can kind of understand why she’d feel hurt. I’m a straight woman and have been mistaken for a man (it was the ‘90s and that whole Seattle grunge/lumberjack look was huge, and I was not a girly-girl), and it did hurt ... at least, a little bit. It made me realize how fixated society can be on gender stereotypes, which still makes me angry.

How much of a TRA is he? I mean, I think almost all (if not all) of us started out being TRAs, and we all came to realize what these people truly were/wanted. If you can have productive conversations with him about TRAs - without sacrificing your mental and emotional health and well-being! - it may be worth seeing how it’ll work out.

Serious question: as a straight woman, I can only sympathize with the hell lesbians are in right now due to the invasion of their spaces by men (as most women’s spaces in general are being colonized by them too).

But, I’ve been thinking: you know how the Giggle app was founded for use by women only (theoretically, since I’ve read of MtF transpeople bragging about getting on there)? So, can’t a dating app be created only for lesbians? I know it will face a lot of condemnation for “transphobia” and all kinds of similar b.s., but ... it seems to me that a legitimate market for this exists? Let people condemn it all they want, but like other lesbian and/or LGB-only sites and organizations (AfterEllen, LGB Alliance, etc.), I think it would have a lot of support, as well. And there would finally be a place for lesbians to meet, without having to wade through a bunch of men and couples looking for threesomes.

As a mother of a special-needs child, this video both made me furious and broke my heart. I couldn’t get the thought out of my head: what if someone treated my child like this, one day?!! Broke his spirit and then filmed it?!!

It’s already SO difficult for developmentally challenged people to find jobs! This is something parents and caregivers of developmentally challenged kids lose sleep worrying over, every single day. Here’s a company that gave this young man a chance, to earn a living and have some pride and independence, and it just gets destroyed by some p.o.s. with a superiority complex. Who is impervious to the censure and condemnation he so deserves because of his race!?

Why doesn’t he think about all the black kids with developmental disabilities? How they could end up getting treated because of his internet hissy-fit?

When is this going to stop?
