[–]MarkJefferson 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It was, but here is a more specific one. Perhaps you couldn't tell, but I was being hyperbolic when I said "30".

Perhaps. Could you please be a little less so in the future because it may mislead anyone who reads it and gives a certain acutely negative impression of bisexuals when it's stated so matter-of-factly without any mitigating qualifiers. Suppose someone talked in this hyperbolic manner about homosexuals(I mean many people already do mainly based on knee-jerk reactions to mainstream Gay culture so maybe you can understand how this kind of rhetoric can be rather caustic to the public perception of us in addition to them)?

I don't have a source on the exact number of guys who feel the urge to rape a gay guy when he comes out in Afghanistan.

How about evidence for whether they are Bi or Gay- or the victim was Bi or Gay, because accusations of performing certain "homosexual" acts(oral, bottoming) rarely if ever take into account actual sexual orientation when it comes to males.

My point was that bisexuals greatly outnumber gays. In this case, the gay man was raped by two other men:

It sounds more like you're suggesting that Bi men are the natural perpetrators in these kind of incidences because they outnumber gay men and are more closeted(and by how much for both?), which is a different claim that doesn't necessarily follow from those two premises.

Some more examples in Afghanistan include the tradition of Bachi Bazi boys. Bi men will keep young gay boys as sex slaves.

Once again, how did you find out whether the boys or the men are gay or bi(do they even distinguish between the two)? Or whether it's simply some sort of paraphilia(pedophilia) that has developed in this particular culture that isn't specific to any sexual orientation(including straight men)? According to this article, the feminine boys involved are likely to have been a sexual substitute for women and would be rejected after they hit puberty and actually started looking like men. Does the latter part of that sound particularly SSA?

I think you're taking issue with the fact that I said "bi men" here. I know you're a bi man, and I don't think you're a psychotic, homophobic rapist.

Yes, I know; Don't worry. I'm somewhat more interested in whether you can back up the assumptions being made of bi's and gays as it relates to sexual assault in lieu of the evidence that has not yet, to my satisfaction at least, been shown here.

I'm just saying that bi men are extremely common and in homophobic countries

How common? I think bisexuals spawn evenly everywhere and don't necessarily gather more in homophobic countries to victimize gays.

men who are bi will use rape as an instrument of punishment against men who are gay in a situation where a straight man would simply give him a beating.

I have read quickly through it, but is this conclusion or at least implication in the last link you provided? And where?

Anyway, I'm still reeling from the first sentence which has unfortunately somewhat blurred anything reasonable you have typed after that; Sorry. Well, you got my attention anyway lol

I'll give my thoughts to solving the closeting issue later.

Wow. I've never thought about it this way. Do you think that's really what they believe? I mean, now you say it like that, it's totally consistent with much of the rhetoric in the transgender debate-- the level of entitlement, the homophobia and expressed disgust about same-sex attraction... it's just a total mindset-shift for me, to consider. Wow.

I'll never actually know what they truly believe, but yeah- it's consistent with what we're seeing I think.

Ahhhh. You know, this reminds me of how in the pre-Civil War era (US I mean, sorry if you're from another country), the elite class in the South would pitch racist beliefs as a way to mollify the poorer white Southerners. Ultimately it still comes down to dehumanization of an oppressed minority, and falsehoods about the humanity and wholeness of people in that minority group.

Little motivation to improve one's personality or circumstances when there exists a stable feeling of superiority over others like this. A good tool for social control.

Yup was about to reference that as well. Or not even just a subverse kink... that it's wrong, morally, that there's something wrong with us. That's why they insist on calling us "queer," too, and if we protest, they call us bigots and shameful for protesting. Makes me want to loudly push back against the q-slur more than ever.

They're already othering SSA it seems. Like the bigoted Bookworms are getting kicked out the Book Club in favour of people who don't even read but talk about reading culture and dress in reading clothes, eat reading food, and listen to reading music...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's given me a lot to think about. I think all these points are really important. I wonder if we are underestimating the threat that colonization by the kink community poses to LGB people. "Pride" is a word that I have grown uneasy hearing, because these days it often entails promoting homophobic beliefs, and often by celebrating same sex attraction as something that is deviant.

Kink(which can have potentially unlimited flavours) should have no allotted soapbox at Pride, along with many non sexual orientation related agendas. But it seems Pride has become mostly that. I'm practically an outsider to the culture, and what I'm seeing now doesn't make me want to change that at all.

Tempted to make a post about this topic, lol. It really is a game changer, considering that many people-- many liberal people, I mean (I already know firsthand that many conservatives do)-- think of same-sex attracted sexual orientations as deviant, in all likelihood.

Sounds like a good idea. I appreciate the discussion here.

how we have sex, or assertions that feminine mannerisms are an "active choice" for young gay boys that can be "turned off" (tell that to the gay boy in school who's getting bullied for his lisp and limp wrist).

I seriously think some GC radfems think women outright own femininity. That's the impression I'm getting online sometimes. I mean, I know that female is in the word to some extent, but thinking this way just as stupid as thinking men own masculinity and criticizing gnc females. Unless they're outright calling themselves the sex they aren't and pretending they have female organs or something, someone merely having the gender expression associated with your sex is not "appropriating your womanhood" or whatever. Can you imagine how sexist that would sound is a man was talking like that?

And the fact of the matter is, a lot of these twitter GC radfems still push gender roles. Like, I remember some guy who defended the rights of women was called "a real man" by some GC, as to revoke the man card for anyone who didn't actively support them like some social coercion. When adult males ARE men no matter if they defend women's rights or not. I mean, I thought they were supposed to be GC? Because that sounds pretty gender traditionalist. I don't think some of them see how a lot of these trans problems exist nowadays because of attitudes like that. Men and women who want to escape their assigned gender roles.

I'm still on the fence in calling myself GC because I'm not sure whether it's a larger ideology itself or just a label literally meaning critical of Gender Ideology. I've already decided that men can't really be feminists, or if they are "feminists" they usually turn out to be misogynists without fail.

I think these woke types really want to be part of some rebellious counterculture and movement. Problem is, they rarely take the social risks(of ostracization) to earn that. They act only after the real risk has evaporated and not by themselves but with the support of a mob, and don't realize or won't acknowledge that real countercultures are usually not promoted by the mainstream media and multinational corporations. As the saying goes, "The revolution will not be televised." These fair weather "activists" are the locusts that consume the crop of countless tilled and well-tended subcultures after all the work has been done and the fruits of public acceptance have ripened. I've seen it again and again. They're like the school bullies of chess nerds who all join the Chess Club only after it get into the news for spawning players who win regional competitions.

Apart from the obligations that LGB are supposed to have to the T by virtue of being tied to the same movement(the "we're all in this together so date me" attitude). I seriously think they believe LGB standards are lower. And that leads to receiving less respect for sexual autonomy. The way the thinking goes is:

Oh, the fact that you're seeking the company of the same-sex indicates that something is so wrong with you in that you can't find someone wiling to be with you and are desperate. So desperate that you'd settle for the same sex, as I can't even imagine lowering myself enough to do that(as it disgusts me). So even a demonstrated loser like me is too good for you. You should be falling over yourself trying to date me then.

A mindset like this just about explains the level of disdain and entitlement I'm continuously seeing from these people online, people who can be rather unattractive physically and in many other ways. So, as frighteningly low-quality as they are considered by themselves or others, they are still securely smug in that they view SSA people to be by default an even lower quality of person. It goes back to what I commented previously about SSA being perceived to be a subversive kink, and nothing else by many people, even those who should be on our side. People who also say "Sexuality is not a choice.", but without really believing their own words.

Add in the revisionist first-brick mythology of heroism and sacrifice to that and the victim-hood narrative and you have an LGB being unfairly indebted to satisfy the whims of every Trans person all the time without complaints.

This is gonna sound a bit cynical, but I don't think a large proportion of "allies" ever really believed SSA to be a real thing. It was and still is just another kink in their eyes. SSA and exclusive SSA were and are both still considered rebellious subversion by many people who should know better. This is why the crazy shit really took off after the same-sex marriage victory in the US. A lot of people(not just in the US) took this as some divine sign that kink of all kinds was given a green-light to become legally accepted and mainstream. Essentially, they took the religious conservative view on what SSA is: Subversive acts meant to stymie traditionalists; The only difference is, they replaced the label "bad thing" with the label "good thing". But they never fundamentally challenged their hetero-normative beliefs of what SSA actually is. Being just another convenient tool to exploit for ideological purposes. But nothing real in itself.

Nby is an easy way of getting away from labels and the gender stereotypes and thus treatment associated with them at a limited level(limited to effect the treatment from those who buy into it). That's what I think it was originally created for, but it's a double-edged sword in that it's also an easy way to deny reality, whether they want to pretend to be Straight, Gay, or Bi. And that's what a lot of nbys use it for that I consider negative. It's a lot like transing in both those ways.

I was demographically insular and in a political bubble for most of my voting life and one of the things it got me was eventually accepting stuff like Trans without much skepticism, because it was "progressive", supporting people/things the LGB apparently supported(even though I didn't understand it at all), and sticking it to the cons.

I developed some useful critical thinking skills over the years so I'm not too worried about Saidit's more naughty extremist influences. Which is why I can now read all manner of religious scripture and ideological manifestos for entertainment(have you heard of the diyu?).

I'm gonna have to go with u/PenseePansy's take there, and with everyone in that image who pointed out how the use of the word "Straight" doesn't apply to a relationship with a bisexual in it. I have already went a bit into the monosexual-dominated labeling issue here and here. These semantic particulars may not matter much to most people, but to me this is a prime example of Gays and Straights putting us into the dichotomy that they have constructed to suit themselves, bi's going along with it because it's already well entrenched in the lexicon, and once again not bothering to build our own things(in this case non-physical but linguistic) but relying on the devices of others. This is our community-specific insanity of doing things the same way and somehow expecting a different result. The habit of believing that keeping on this pre-curated path will get the Bisexuals of the world a community to call their own, though it never will.

Pronouns are Rohypnol and so are these Adjectives. When someone hears "Straight relationship" the latent implication there is gonna be that both people are Heterosexual. The average person and unaffiliated bisexuals are not gonna be mulling through all the potential nuances of this term like any context-sensitive individualized meanings. Yeah, some will ignore this probable human tendency and say any misunderstandings would "simply" be assumptions and only snowflakes would say that people would "definitely" make those assumptions and not to be so anal. And that's because they either have nothing to lose or think they have nothing to lose if it were to happen. But the fact of the matter is that Homosexuals are kneecapping themselves every-time they enforce this dichotomy on Bisexuals. It's their community-specific iteration of the Surprised Pikachu face. Incentivizing bi's to identify as gay for their own mental convenience(and Bi's cooperating with them just so they can have the peace and acceptance that comes with identifying as something actually formally recognized by monosexuals), only to Jaw Drop when bi's actually identify as gay, with all the consequences associated with that. Then comes the inevitable indignation stemming from these nearsighted decisions..

[–]MarkJefferson 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Most official online dictionaries are corrupted by "gender identity". In the not too distant past, gender was not associated with identity. You either were either male or female and that was your gender(I didn't matter what you identified as), which to most people, was synonymous with sex. And it still is to some extent.

Urban Dictionary is surprisingly more useful for questioning bisexuals than these sites, because most of their definitions still express the binary definition of bi, and if they use the word gender don't portray gender as an adopted identity but just another word for sex.

I think some people think it's some kind of fetish that people have been conditioned into having. That's probably why it's so easy for them to lump it with the actual fetishes and call for an end to the whole lgbtq+. It doesn't help that people with fetishes now say they were "born that way". Like, yeah sure- you were born getting a sexual rise from wearing ski gloves, a toboggan hat, and a honking clown nose, somehow. I would care a lot less if people like that could admit it was something acquired during their lives and not tie it in with SSA.

And yeah, I encountered many different people who sounded like they didn't believe lesbians, gay males, and bisexuals exist at all.

To my first point, I should add that there are also people, who not only believe SSA doesn't exist, but believe LGB(especially LG) put active, sustained effort into refraining from opposite-sex relationships to pursue same-sex ones. Like it's some sort of rebellious act, meant to stymie "normal" people and undermine the concept of the nuclear family, the church, society or something else. Which can make them very indignant. It really is not seen as a real thing for these people. Subsequently, the term "Sexual Orientation" is completely redundant to them since they believe there is no other way people can be oriented.

It has nothing to do with it. Just like how it has nothing to do with these things. Visible minorities easily get exploited politically(yes even by other minorities).

Flags like this in classrooms are pretty useless to help anyone. More for ideological virtue signalling. It reminds me of the corporate profile pics on social media in June. Yeah, they should probably ban them. I consider it very much like having religious symbols in schools. But some people have a blind spot to this obvious parallel because it scratches the itch of their particular political bias.

Stop bringing sex to a discussion about sexuality! by DickFreeBacon in LGBDropTheT

And, I mean... WHO can meet THAT standard? Being the very embodiment of uninhibited slutdom? It seems set up to make everyone feel like a prude! Even if they just have average levels of self-consciousness, self-doubt, and (dare I say it) modesty.

Average levels of self-consciousness fall in the middle of the spectrum, and since some of the moral(two sides of the same coin really) enforcers on the extremes are very dichotomous in their thought processes, any sexual expression(or lack therof) deemed more conservative then their ideal is dogmatic behavior of the "religious right", instead of personal choice. It's like they have their very own custom kind of overton window that they in their ideological bubble, think is standard.

Perfectly-put! "Gendery terms" (good one!) as... insulation. A way of ostensibly talking about sex... without actually talking about sex. AKA plausible deniability! (Though YMMV on the "plausible" part.)

I also like to think of it as throwing out bright hot, colourful flares that only appear to be about sex to draw off the heat-seeking questions away from their actual sex life as they fly away to the safe-space of subjects about gender expression(blue shirt or pink?) instead of ever talking about sexual attraction.

"Thou Shalt Be Sexually Unconstrained" = sexual orientations are a no-no, since they're as much about who you AREN'T attracted to as who you are. Goes double for homosexuality, because it's: 1.] exclusive (rules out the opposite sex); and 2.] "supposed" to be all about unbridled, wanton, let-yer-freak-flag-fly licentiousness (at least in wokesters' eyes), so how DARE gay people ever say "no"???!!! IT'S UNNATURAL I TELL YOU

It's like if people think they're "tolerant" or "accepting" of minority sexualities then these minorities practically owe it to them to conform to their stereotypes and figuratively dance like a monkey for them. And the fact is, a lot of lgb do this in order to be accepted by the mainstream. And this just confirms their bias that it's fine to expect and even demand that same-sex attracted people to behave this stereotyped way, especially homosexuals. There really is an air of "These sexualities are made-up and ours is the true real sexuality" about it all.

Terror of being a prude disables liberals' pervert-alarm, so they can no longer tell when something (or someone) is creepy. Explains their embrace not only of fetishistically-motivated transgenderism, but also assorted WTF-ery such as "drag kids", drag queen story hour, etc.

The dedication to open-mindedness is a double-edged sword. Neither necessarily good or bad, but is synonymous with "good" among liberals, so it is simultaneously a liberal's greatest strength and weakness depending on the situation they are dealing with. If you are dealing with entrenched, old-fashioned thinking with no basis in reality, then it's good. But when it comes to this TQ stuff, it's been mostly harmful with few redeeming consequences.

I've touched on this before; That maybe some of these people are actually quite "conservative" about sex. They are uncomfortable with any concrete discussions of the reality it is. Especially same-sex attraction. The problem is that they are usual very "liberal" in other ways and young so being squeamish about sex is not consistent at all with the expectations of their political alignment and demographic(it makes them look uptight and/or inexperienced). So they use/make up countless gendery terms to put as much of a buffer between themselves and raw, unfiltered sex talk. It's a reaction to their peers almost requiring an open-sharing attitude to a subject they may not naturally be very open about.

Fellow student, you're progressive like us and presumably not a close-minded puritan. What do you feel about -insert sex characteristic-?

Following the resurgence of the “Am I a Lesbian” Masterdoc on TikTok, conversations about compulsory heterosexuality

Fyi that happened because the author came out as bi(and tbh after reading it again I'm waiting out that one as well).

The main problem with this Compulsory Heterosexuality(I hate the contraction of this term) concept is it's frequently misused to apply to heterosexuals who want to identify as anything other than. It's used as a absorb-all-scrutiny shield against suggestions that they are actually straight, identity enthusiasts. So after being accused of encouraging CH, people may just drop the issue, not wanting to be/seem bigoted and non-progressive. And thus it decreases the necessary gate-keeping.

I think there's validity to the original idea, though. Because straight as default/correct(Heteronormativity) is a thing. Like in the historical/literary context. How many people tend to think of the past that way and that same-sex attraction is something that didn't even exist until the latter half of the twentieth century as it was just a modern, "enlightened", social invention that only exists in very limited contexts. Like how there can be some pearl-clutching if someone were to even suggest characters from old writings and dead authors/historical figures were perhaps not heterosexual.

The same thing can be felt to those who come out of the closet as a complement to the homophobia they may experience. There can be some acute negative reaction like, "Well, that's just impossible! They clearly accepted that they are straight their entire life up until this very moment. What suddenly caused them to deny their straightness(must be some external influence)? Did I not teach them effectively about truth and reality? Not in my backyard!" And this can even be from people are very socially liberal. It hits different when it's your own friends or kin.

This legit kind of Compulsory Heterosexuality is of course nowadays mixed up with the gender woo woo with poisons any genuine discourse on the topic. What I'm saying is to not throw the baby out with the bathwater because some kwirs appropriated the term for their own ends.

tl;dr- From a woke source, with some good points about Compulsory Heterosexuality/Heteronormativity heavily polluted with gender identity garbage.

Yeah, I'm AWFULLY full of myself for daring to correct you on your ignorance. You think the difference between AIDS and HIV and the biology of immunity is just some mere formality to doctors? I'm sure no one at all gave a hang about semantics during those 500+ years of immunization development. Who cares whether the label says 'Polio' or 'Hepatitis' or the pathological difference between rubeola and roseola(they look the same to the hicks)?
