Mods are NOT removing the comments since the Reddit OP described the very same thing. So those kinds of terms are relevant and appropriate.

Reddit realized some time ago ... like YEARS ago ... that people could use username summons to harass people, draw them into conversations or subs they didn't want to be a part of. Like, think of how many people summon Spez for the sole purpose of calling him a tool, you know?

Rather than change that as a sitewide feature, or let people opt-in/out of summons, they leaned into "no, don't do that" only for specific subs. And they use it to demonstrate that those subs and/or their users are non-compliant and breaking TOS.

They did it to r/drama a long time ago (although to be fair, r/drama did it for exactly that reason, to stir up trouble). Reddit's finally realizing that other users and subs do it too.

There are some subs they don't want to ban outright, but they do want to punish the existing mod team or users for perceived or blatant lack of respect. If Admins manage to ban enough of the mods, then they can swoop in and install their Pre-Approved TM powermods and repurpose it, thereby pretending their site has been fresh and squeaky clean the whole time.

AGB is definitely on the chopping block. Can't be having gay men go about promoting that sex and sexual orientation are real!

It's always been a historically "non-moderated" sub except for spam or outright abuse. I'll bet the mods are getting cracked down on by Admins.

There's mods and users alike across Reddit who are getting hit with sub sanctions or even perma-bans lately for mundane shit, like username pinging or linking to other subs.

u/greatcicadiatthrow, welcome! I think you'll find a very different perspective and advise from our lovely members here. Many of us have been banned from Reddit because of it, or voluntarily left after our subs were banned.

You'll find a big mix of LGB perspectives and backgrounds here. We have members from all over the world, and different political leanings (or none at all). We may not always agree with each other personally, but something we all believe is that LGB is our priority, it's same-sex attraction not same-gender, and that we need to drop the T (and Q+++) to refocus on LGB needs.

[–]NutterButterFlutter 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

In a non-homophobic society, a future toward which we are making real progress as the taboos concerning same-sex relations continue to recede <snip> They won’t feel the need to label themselves (or others) as LGB or straight because, in a future non-homophobic civilisation, no one will care who loves whom. Love and desire will transcend sexual orientation.

We're tribal creatures. We learn about who we are as individuals (and the group) by trying on labels and labeling others. This is a lovely bit of fantasy but it totally misses the mark of the human experience and maturation, and just comes across as tone-deaf.

Kurtis, as always, is so well-spoken and I appreciate hearing his views. I share a lot of them in this area. I support RadFems, but I'll never be one of them. At most, I can only call myself critical of gender, not even "Gender Critical"/RadFem-aligned.

There's a lot of misandry in the GC/RadFem groups that I've observed, but that does come with the territory. They recognize the difference between the sexes, feel that women as a class are oppressed, and believe that patriarchy is the root of what's wrong with our society today. By nature of that belief, men are the oppressors, and gay/bi men are not exempt even if they are part of another marginalized group.

That's just not something I can support, even if I do find other areas we agree on. It's too rigid and black-and-white, and doesn't allow for the nuance that comes along with being human beings in different societies and cultures. And as Kurtis so eloquently notes, extremism and an inability to be flexible has created a horseshoe of homophobia.

Reddit launches collaborative pixel-placing art game called r/places for April Fool's. Admins ban anyone painting a cat. by Tarrock in MeanwhileOnReddit

[–]NutterButterFlutter 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

The cat is "Marsey the Cat", which is the mascot for r/drama when they moved to their own website rdrama.net. Reddit Admins are very upset by r/drama's refusal to take their sub sanctions seriously, and are especially butthurt that they can't control anything on rdrama.net

rdrama.net decided to place Marsey on the r/place canvas, with plans to also (at a later time) add a background with a trans flag and the text "rdrama.net". Some users were impatient, and added the rdrama.net text immediately instead of waiting until the last day

Admins went in and erased the text of rdrama.net, and also erased the Marsey cat, and they did it with no cooldown (regular users had a 5 minute or 20 minute cooldown). They also shadowbanned or perma-banned numerous users who helped place any of the pixels, and in some cases, changed passwords on those accounts so users couldn't even get back in to formally appeal.

Just petty abuse of power ... which happened to get caught on video, lol

Since I'm not trans nor gender-dysphoric, I can really only speculate. I feel this is a question that really needs answering and advocacy by and for trans people themselves (even if there are LGB who share a crossover).

There were plenty of trans people who medically or socially transitioned and found a way to live their best lives long before gender woo-woo blew up. I think listening to and learning more from them would be a good way to begin finding out the best course of action.

Man, you're really holding a grudge about not being able to astroturf our sub. It's adorable how you prescribe emotions and hysterics to us when you're the one who rages and lies about us to anyone who will listen though. Must feel bad.

We removed ourselves from s/all since our inception, as the moderator guidelines M7 set out state we should. We've never had any beef from M7, or D3 when he was running things in M7s absence, or M7 again since his return.

You can disagree with the premise of LGBDropTheT all you want, but we're not giving you or anyone else a platform to do it in our sub. That's always been in our rules, even when we were on Preddit, and SaidIt mod guidelines allow us that also. We have a purpose, and you can deal with it or GTFO - we're not looking for acceptance from haters or shills, and we won't shed any tears when the door closes behind you.

We were driven off of Preddit because we refuse to bend the knee to the Traniban. You're a fool if you think we're going to begin humoring their or anyone else's delusions here.

Wondering if there's a way to make adjustments on #1.

Totally appreciate not having to scroll past the sidebar while mobile browsing now! But now users who do want or need to use the sidebar have to scroll past 100 posts just to get to it. Even scrolling past 25 is a lot and unlikely to happen. My concern is that sidebars is where sub rules are listed, also where "message the moderators" is ... and for mods who use mobile, where all their mod tools for the sub are.

I don't know how deep into design you are, but is there a way to make it operate like how a taskbar does on a Windows computer ... a taskbar can be dragged from the default bottom over to the left or right side of the screen now. So in this case, perhaps the sidebar could be a hidden expandable/collapsible "taskbar" using the dead space on the right side, which hides or displays once a sideways caret/chevron is tapped?

Sort of like what Reddit does with their "multi Reddit" feature on home pages. Theirs is on the left side though, and only accessible from the main home page. In my scenario, it would be that functionality, but for the sidebar of individual subs and only for mobile browsing.

How do I edit how my sub looks? by Kuasocto in help

[–]NutterButterFlutter 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You'll need to know CSS and how to use it to edit site elements in your stylesheet. You might be able to find some info here: https://saidit.net/s/SaiditCSSthemes

If you find a sub on SaidIt that already does what you want, you can read their stylesheet and apply similar code to yours: https://saidit.net/s/SUBNAME/about/stylesheet

You can also check Reddit subs and their styling. Some elements behave differently on SaidIt vs Reddit though, so it can be a bit of guess-and-checking, especially where nightmode/daymode are concerned. If you're using Reddit as a reference, be sure you're using the URL https://old.reddit.com when you're looking around, otherwise you'll end up on New Reddit which won't be helpful.

The Admins shut down SuperStraight and all its offshoots, despite them being halfway satire and halfway serious: https://old.reddit.com/r/superstraight

This community was banned for promoting hate towards a marginalized or vulnerable group. The community had become increasingly exclusionary with hateful content that is counter to its original satirical intent and was in violation of our policies.

The Admins understand mockery and satire, but it's a tightrope walk no matter the subject, and they've made their feelings quite clear about LGB vs the alphabet soup.

u/TumbleweedFireflies already made a bunch of subs for LGBA, they were private and being worked on with CSS in preparation for LGBA coming to Reddit. They got banned for promoting hate, as did several empty "drop the T" sub names she was squatting on. Her main account was also temporarily suspended as a result.

If anyone wants to try their luck, have at it, but be prepared for TRA brigading and dogpiling the second they catch wind of it, and eventual banning.

Someone who responded to you got their comment removed too (although they don't appear to have been suspended), and they said:

My guess is you both were falsely reported because "someone" (AHS) thought you were joking about the 40% trans suicide thing. Although anyone with half a brain would realize you both were referring to the posted image where someone said they have a 37% success rate in getting accounts suspended.

You could probably appeal the suspension if you care enough to.

I think people are finally starting to connect the dots, and women's sports is helping them do that. We've got a long way to go, but it's a start.

When it was one random cyclist or one random handballer, it could be waved away as "anti-trans"/"terfs" making things harder by cherry-picking. When an entire university team stands up against it, the NCAA starts changing their policies, and several US states update their laws too ... the house of cards seems to be shaking apart.

Just a couple things I've run across, gives me hope things are changing.

In that Reddit thread, even pro-TQ+ are saying it should be sex-based not gender - refreshing for Reddit.

Lesbians, learn how to let a transbian down gently here by Chunkeeguy in LGBDropTheT

This would all be a non-issue if they wouldn't rewrite the definition of words and act victimized when we don't play along with their delusions. There was no need for us to talk about what genitals someone had, harshly or kindly, until they started making attempts to reform language on a global scale to make themselves feel better.

We all know what "gay" and "lesbian" and "man" and "woman" mean. The world getting peaked over the whole Lia Thomas debacle makes it quite apparent.

The old transsexuals I used to know never acted like this. Trans women lived life presenting as women (and trans men presenting as men), but they all knew what sex they were, and didn't get offended and become aggressive if someone said "no". No one had to go out of their way to play these word games with them because they lived in reality and weren't attempting to deny it.

Removed for rule 2, unless you want to discuss how lesbians and/or bisexual women are being impacted by this. If you want to speak about women's rights in general, s/GenderCritical or s/ThereAreTwoGenders are better subs.

Also removed for rule 4, slurs and derogatory terms are not allowed. We don't allow "tranny", or any creative work-arounds using symbols.

FDS (and many other other subs) use bots to detect user participation in naughty subs and automatically ban you:

With Reddit's changes to blocking making it so users that you block can no longer see your profile (and therefore your activity in other subs), we recommend blocking those two bots.

Maybe even s/ItsAFetish, considering statements like:

“While he was in the hall, [he] was telling people, I’m stopping taking my medication because I can’t [become erect]. I’ve not a problem living with trans people; it’s living with people who are manipulating the system and pretending to be trans.”

The sarcasm in parts of the article gave me a good laugh.

It has the aesthetic appeal of a faeces-smeared prison cell, though without the intellectual depth.
Forget the generation of gay men wiped out by AIDS, or the lesbians whose children were taken — to the brave queers of Oxford, the sticker war is real and raging.
“98 per cent of University of Oxford trans students have mental health problems”. Looking at the unhinged scribbles covering a sizeable portion of the exhibition, this does not come as a surprise.

OP, can we get context on who this person is and what inspired this rant? Without context, there's not really anything making it align with our sub.
