The Cloudflare issue has been ongoing now for a ridiculous duration. A simple post can sometimes require confirmation to access the post, confirmation to post, then confirmation to visit another sub.

Users are less frequent, spam is increasing. I'm tempted not to hang around much longer.

These are all valid points, magnora7 has said Saidit has been under attack since it's creation. Look what's happened to other free speech platforms like notabug, ruqqus, and voat to name a few. I think bad actors will go after any free speech site.

I hope these issues can be fixed or mitigated, but some of it comes with the territory. For that reason I'm going to stick around as long as I can, and I hope you do too, but definitely understand if you don't.

For the record, Ruqqus was destroyed from within by its own admins because they got sweet-talked by the literal tranny that owns drama.net into granting him admin privileges and letting him nuke all of the mgtow, incel and nazi communities.

If this attack has been going on from inception then why is the cloudflair problem new?

If the cloudflair problem is shutting down the site what is the piont? Either way the site gets shut down. This way is just slower.

Cloudflair is one of the bad guys. Just like antivirus software manufacturers write viruses to justify their existence so does cloudflair ddos websites. They are run by jews and are anti free speech.

Many of the abundant issues could have been mitigated if the community was included in its own destiny. Self-regulation and invested stakes would compel people to actually give a shit about this place rather than just use and abuse another free platform. Instead the owner's ego pissed away all the promise and potential this site ever had. Sad.

It's time for another new private platform, preferably decentralized, where users must establish themselves by first earning their cred on sites like SaidIt - then be admitted to the next new tier.

For me it is the error when posting or commenting. I guess the session times out. I copy things to the clipboard anyway, or notepad when more fields are needed. Not a deal killer for me but a little annoying.

It seems to me that there are less than 10 real users on the website, because those are the ones commenting. How hard can it be to add exceptions for a small number of users that are obviously human? I am not saying everyone in this thread is, but I am.

Come visit Rabbit Hole. I went for PhpBB because I didn't want to do the exact same thing that Saidit does i.e. fill a different niche. But I made it for the community, so I will listen to your input regarding what software you would like it to use, how it's run, etc. If it gains traction, I will make a bunch of you mods. It'll be a community run by us collectively. From what I understand, a couple of users here prefer a link aggregator over a BBS. Maybe we can have a vote for that some time. But for the time being, we can just use the site the way it is because it's functional and doesn't have Cloudflare BS.

How do you feel about the chatbox on this website? Maybe we can use some qwebirc instance to connect to the same IRC network so we can keep using that. Or should we setup an alternative chat as well?

I block 10 to 20 new bots per day. I open 2 tabs when I want to post in case I get a 403. It is easy to work around the issues. Grow a pair of balls.

It's the spam that gets to me. It's annoying to have to click through Cloudflare to verify, but if it helps keep the site afloat, I'll just deal with it.

But the obnoxious amount of spam is the worst. I spend more time reporting it than actually browsing the site or reading posts anymore. That's going to kill our growth more than anything, no one new will want to try out a site infested with spam bots.

The admins are removing spam, I can see that in modlogs, but the fact they can't ban or shadowban the accounts is frustrating.

To be honest, we don't even know how much spam there'd be without Cloudflare, this may be the tip of the iceberg. He has dealt with it for years and every time he talks about it, it becomes clear the situation is much worse than the average user realizes. Some gratitude is also apt.
