For some reason I'm not able to make a thread. It says "Submissions restricted." How can I do that?

Thread posting permissions are restricted to a list of approved users only, and we're not accepting requests to become an approved user at this time.

LGBDTT has a pronounced problem of dedicated trolls and astroturfing, so users need to demonstrate they are here in good faith before representing our sub and movement. We do hope to open up fully in the future again, but there is no timeline for it yet.

You can ask mods to submit a thread for you by messaging us, or another user you're friends with to submit on your behalf. You can also keep commenting until we're accepting new approved users and/or open sub posts to everyone.

This seems like a potential problem for community engagement though. Dealing with trolls is important, but it'll also be difficulty to keep fresh blood engaging with posts from people already in the community. I think most places strike a balance by restricting new thread creations to users with an account that's older than a certain age, and a certain number of posts created (10 - 20 is a safe margin usually). That way you don't have to manually go through approvals, and it presents enough of a barrier for casual trolling. Only dedicated trolls will go to the effort of posting stuff that appears to be legitimate and have the patience for threadmaking, which allows them to be weeded out more easily.

I know there's still a lotta folks from the great Reddit censorship era like myself (goodbye gendercritical and any lesbian subreddits) still trying to find like-minded people to connect with.

We welcome newcomers and like-minded people to our community, you just have to start in the comments instead of representing us immediately by sharing on our behalf.

This sub is in a downslope of engagement at the moment and that's OK. LGB "Drop The T" will persist and remain a space for our people, whether we are 5 or 50,000 strong.

You're a 20 day old account reacting to 6 month old comment on a nearly 2 year old post. Our sub has been here 4+ years and experienced quite a lot that you're not aware of. Your advice may be good-intentioned, but we (and even SaidIt as a whole) are well past it.

it's your restrictive policies that are choking this sub to death
