"Transphobes have always been the fucking bane of the LGBT community"

Always? This whole transgender craze is quite recent, relatively speaking. And saying "I don't like dick" isn't transphobia, that is just being a lesbian. Sorry, but it is time to face reality and realise that a lot of people aren't going to like your dick.

"because you reject our history"

Ironic, considering how much you hail the unidentified trans people of colour at Stonewall.

"actively work with far righters and NAZI's"

"Everybody who disagrees with me is a Nazi / right-winger!"

No mate, I am very much left-leaning, and so is a fair proportion of the people here.

"because you just make the LGBT community so much duller."

If dull means "exclusively normal and stable people", then that is fine with me. You can have your spaces, and we will have ours. Just, don't call yourselves LGB, I don't want to be associated with you.

"Fuck your reactionary bullshit, fuck your historical revisionism, fuck your white nationalism."

Here is the thread on this sub that supposedly prompted this anger. Oh, the irony of being this reactionary whilst complaining about "reactionary bullshit".

Transphobes have always been the fucking bane of the LGBT community

That part actually made me laugh when I first read it. He’s reacting to lesbians discussing not liking dick in this tantrum. So, what he’s saying is, “homosexuals have always been the bane of the gay community!” Uhh, okay.

But, you know, I also know a fair amount of older LGB people. Curiously, none of them remember trans people around much from the 70s-mid 2000s.

When I started university in 2010, there wasn’t a single trans or otherwise gender special person in our campus’s gay group. It was all LGB and TQ never came up. Somehow, TQ just exploded in that group in my senior year with no precursor. Always been around my ass.

Somehow, TQ just exploded in that group in my senior year with no precursor.

Why do you think that happened? Do you remember if something specific prompted it? When I came to my college in 2015 the QSU was almost entirely T, and genderspecial. There were a few ssa people, but none identified as gay, only queer, nonbinary, agender, pangender, those kinds of labels. I'm curious now if that "shift" happened on many campuses around the same time.

If I had to guess, tumblr. In fall 2010-fall 2012, it was LGB people. Spring 2013, it was suddenly a bunch of lesbians who became transmen and a bunch of straight girls who said they were asexual, pansexual, or demisexual. They were all big into tumblr. They were also all kind of awkward people who spent way too much time online and seemed to be looking for approval for others.

Idk. For whatever reason, tumblr seemed to push insecure people down rabbit holes and get people to go from 0 to 100 on things.

[–]GoValidateYourselfuseful lesbian 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Huh, interesting. Were people just not using Tumblr before 2012 or did it actually come into existence then? I feel like TRA stuff weirdly arose somehow out of hipster culture, but I don't know how to explain that link.

I wish I'd been around to experience the gay group on my campus before it got overwhelmed with gender ideology.

"Fuck your reactionary bullshit, fuck your historical revisionism, fuck your white nationalism."

This self-projection on their part is something else. Nobody overreacts more or revises history more than the TRAs and their little groupies do. Not even going to try to make sense of the "white nationalism" part.

Oh so it WAS us! I dunno how I missed that fact, lol. Thanks for pointing that out.

I'm gonna have to go back and re-read everything in that new light, lol. I was like, "Man, I wonder what that radfem did to piss this guy off..." because I thought when he used the word "TERF" he actually meant a radfem. 🤣 I guess if you're same-sex-attracted that automatically makes you a TERF. Wonder how the OP would feel if he realized that over 70% of this group is LGB...

[–][deleted] 31 insightful - 2 fun31 insightful - 1 fun32 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

TERF has no meaning now. It just now is shorthand for "they believe in transphobic notion that sex exists and some people are homosexual or bisexual"

Sometimes I think TRAs have their own transcyclopedia or transhistory book which they get all their alternate facts from in order to maintain their jaw-droppingly lucid delusions from day to day.

"Reactionary"? "Historical revisionism"? Projection much? It's funny how this was the forum he was complaining about. Have you ever seen the comic of the long neck stick figure character who stuck their head all the way across the road and through the door of a cabin and all the way to the back to a solitary figure sitting quietly at a table, just to say to them, "Leave me alone!". This is just like that. I recently saw a massive list of trans-friendly "rainbow" subs they could easily go to instead, but instead they come here just to be offended.

I would love them to level those "far-right", "white-nationalist", charges at me. I can recall some presumptious genderwoo accusing me of similiar things, including being a Christian or someone religious. Wrong on all counts, dips***.

And does he know that having been looked at strangely by others for most of history that same-sex couples wouldn't love to simply be Dull? To blend into the crowd and live life like any other people? Who wants to be called "queer" and different and be gawked at like some freak? Well, I guess these people do... Touche.

[–]lovelyspearmintLesbeing a lesbian 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I still remember the days when I genuinely thought people would eventually treat same sex couples and same sex attracted people as normal, but since the tq crowd muscled their way into the public consciousness, all of that is ruined.

Yep; have often thought exactly this. Only those who take being seen as normal for granted can consider it boring... and not realize what a enormous PRIVILEGE that is.

This is not a place for your transphobic bullshit, in fact the Sapphic/WLW community was never a place for your transphobic shit.

Lol no since the sapphic/wlw community is basically just ~queer~ women and straight men nowadays, we know it's not a place for lesbians. It's very telling for the demographics of that sub that this post got awards and almost a thousand upvotes, while a post by an actual lesbian about the lack of lesbian only spaces got just a hundred, and several comments about how that it would need severe moderation not to get exclusionary and 'terfy'.

You were hated by the gay activists on the ground, you were hated by the working class gays and lesbians, you were hated by most of the second & third waves of feminism.

Second wave feminism is basically radical feminism, and as a working class lesbian now, I'm sure my kind back then knew what homosexual meant. But I guess historical revisionism is ok in the name of gender ideology.

I'd really like some of these TRA's to explain to me how me as a woman not having sex with men is upholding patriarchy and white nationalism, since most male white nationalists would probably see it the other way around, but hey what do I know? I keep 'misunderstanding' the immense differences there is between dick and girldick after all.

[–]8bitgay 33 insightful - 5 fun33 insightful - 4 fun34 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, it's almost funny that they say that the WLW community was never a place for lesbians. No one ever thought that communities that call themselves WLW/MLM would be spaces for actual lesbians/gay men lol

The best thing is, if all the ppl on that thread got together irl, the illusion would be shattered instantly, and the visual reality of greasy men in pastel thigh highs would peak trans 90% of the women in the crowd.

It's like that old video of the transactivists harassing the Vancouver Women's Library, and an ordinary, slightly greasy dude keeps yelling "I am a woman!" Or like the guy in Gamestop who kept yelling "It's ma'am!" and threatened to punch the poor employee

Yes. I feel safe for not looking like a lesbian I remember getting all pissed when people said that to me, now I’m like thank you goddess. At uni, the wokes would be all ove my ex cause she was “visibly lesbian”, if only you could see how many colored hair they/them types would sprout from the ground out of nowhere lol. Back then I was woke so I couldn’t laugh at it but I definitely made me think twice.

You know, in an odd way, it's actually kind of hilarious that the mere existence same-sex-attracted individuals seems to have so much power over these men's thinking. Just got that little voice of truth niggling at you all the time when you're living a lie... it's enough to drive anyone up the wall.

Anyway. I don't know what "TERF" inspired this particular tirade, but I guess their linking a post about human biology is an "act of Nazism." I'm torn between amusement at how ridiculous this post is, and disgust at these men making so light of the Holocaust.

And there's the difference between LGB and the T. LGB is a truth, an inherent part of who we are, it is something measureable and cannot be changed without violating essential human rights. The T, on the other hand, does not exist without society. It is not an inherent part of oneself, it is a reaction to a culture. The exact same person raised in different parts of the world will have no consistency with being cis vs trans (unless they never end up trans) but sexuality will be the same no matter what culture someone is put into. Lesbains aren't so becuase of catcalling or hatred of periods, gay men aren't so because of expectations about masculinity. But transgenders are always born of such situations. They never choose to be trans unless presented with a undesireable situation that makes transition seem to be the solution

Well, he's not wrong. The TRAs I've argued with are libfems, usually women of color. Kimberly aka For Harriet: "Black trans women ARE black women. Period." is the type of TRA I argue with.

I didn't even imply that most black women are TRAs... but the most popular black women sub on reddit, blackladies, is pro-trans and even autobans (using a bot) anyone who posts in a smaller black women sub (BlackGirlDiaries) for being "transphobic".

https://www.reddit.com/r/blackladies/comments/hovbay/we_will_automatically_ban_users_of_subreddits/

I know Lipstick Alley has GC black women... one of the FDS mods, TheOGJammies, is from LSA. But there seems to be more black libfems than black radfems or "womanists" around. I see lots of black women on Instagram calling Dwyane's son "Zaya" a girl. And when Ts Madison got into it with rapper Khia, the black libfems were defending Ts Madison... even saying he looks better than most "real women". Smfh
