If I had the money it'd be cool to start an apparel company only with such products. Gay pride, lesbian pride, bi pride. And products with the original gay rainbow flag, without the added stripes.

And for plausible deniability I could always say that I don't have TQ+ pride products because it'd be immoral as a cis person to appropriate their fight for my own personal profit.

Love that argument.

Lol yes that’s what I assume happens or would happen. It’s like putting a target on your back. I assume most shops end up trying to cater to as much of the rainbow as possible to get as many customers as possible. In this way, $$$ is kind of helping erase homosexuality and same-sex oriented pride, activism, and social spaces, but not necessary bisexuality. There is a lot of bisexuality-centered merch. The only homosexuality-centered stuff is the individual pride flag stuff for gay men and for lesbians, nothing joint. That being said, I don’t even know what that would look like. This is basically my stream consciousness, but what I really want is gay/LGB-oriented stuff. These are who I consider my people. These are the people I want to be surrounded by in our own bars when I want to disappear from the straight world.

Before I buy anything remotely gay or lesbian, whether art or whatever from Etsy I check the shop to make sure I don’t see anything homophobic or misogynistic or overly into gender. If they’re just supportive of LGBT generally OK fine. If they make gay people look like a joke, no thanks.

I don't buy stuff from Etsy but whenever I find new artists who post LGB content I do the same. And yeah, it happens. Some people post gay art with one hand while with the other they're making a huge rant about how gay men are transphobic. So kudos for doing your research!

And there are time that most of us say “gay” for the sake of poignance and simplicity and want others to read in bisexuality as well.

Funny, someone mentioned to me here that this may be a US-specific phenomen-- that in other countries, there is less of bisexuality being included in "gay" and more seen as being its own thing, even in language such as this. I'd have to read more on it, though.

I know for like, coffee mugs, there are many websites where you can give them a custom-made design and they'll print it on a mug and ship it to you! Wouldn't be surprised if there are options like that for sweatshirts. But it's frustrating that there are not more options saying "gay pride" already..

Maybe items with just imagery, like two women holding hands, two women kissing. A nice silhouette of two women kissing -- that says it all right there. Skip words and go for beautiful imagery.

Thanks for looking! Unfortunately my point is that nothing says “Gay Pride” specifically. All of the “Pride” shirts are nebulous rainbow mafia pride. To me “Gay Pride” are words that a fake gay trans person would not wear or support. They would say “LGBTQ Pride” or “Queer Pride,” so those words on a shirt are specifically what I want for its subtle resistance. I’ve been feeling really down lately with the Executive Order and what the gay rights movement has led to and become associated with so I want to show some willful but subtle resistance.

I do like the “homo” one in rainbow though. Asshats are not taking the word homosexual from me.

Just wanted to say, it's totally natural to be feeling down considering we are seeing actual conversion therapy rhetoric being promoted widespread on social media and the news-- I'd argue it's even some form of minority stress that LGB people are going through, and perhaps worth talking about more as a community. I know I've talked with several people here who feel the same way. But, I really think things are going to turn around, and relatively (couple years timeframe) soon-- the truth always wins out in the long-run. Did you see this post by chance? A well-respected psychologist who worked at the Tavistock resigned and recently went on TV in the UK openly stating that the Tavistock is performing conversion therapy on gays and lesbians:

Baby steps. But we'll get there. :) Hope you're doing well overall.
