I always knew that I was not like other girls. No, not that sexist stereotype that all young women are the same and that I was uniquely different… But rather that I could never relate to girlhood.

Dude. That IS the "not like the other girls" trope!

It's very "i'm not like other girls" of her to think she's not like all those girls who think they're not like the other girls.

At this point I'm convinced having a "not like other girls" phase is standard for any girl in the first world

Honestly that's legit. My "not like the other girls" phase was: "Wow, I'm not like the other girls because I don't care at all about boys! That must mean I'm more mature." Hahahaha...

I immediately thought of "not like the other girls" too, even made a comment about it before reading yours.

It's always funny when I think the same as another comment here before reading the other comment. It really shows how obvious some things are yet they pretend not to see.

YUP. Funny how the objective truth has a habit of making unrelated people come to the same conclusion about a particular situation. :)

Now, the word woman simply describes a relationship to patriarchy, it is a power dynamic, an external construct that has nothing to do with who I am on the inside.

It has nothing to do with how any of us are on the inside! That's kind of the whole fucking point: no women "identify with" the power dynamic of patriarchy. But instead of taking part in activism or professions that try to change the status quo, or helping other women who have it worse than you, or participating in skills/hobbies that break stereotypes, paving the way for other girls, and fundamentally changing how women are treated, you "opt out" of womanhood linguistically, naively thinking it's going to change your material reality! Newsflash: it doesn't! I should know, I've been there

They really think like Not Like The Other Girls, right?

"All the other girls love being oppressed, following the stereotypes of patriarchy, and buying pretty dresses. But not me, so I'm obviously not a girl."

At this point they're assigning definitions to words that anyone in their right mind would hate. Their hope is that people will associate the fake definition with the word so the word gets phased out of speech. I just hope people will be able to associate the definitions exclusively with those who attempt to shove them onto other things

"I prefer to identify with who I am instead of who I am not, which is why all the thing I don't do and don't like are signs that I'm not really a woman."

Ah, yes, because women are not allowed to be free thinking or have opinions on things. It's not like there was a whole civil rights movement a few decades ago that said exactly that

Short version: I hated men looking at me and treating me like shit. I wear men's clothes except when I don't want to. I say I'm not like the other girls but I'm exactly like them. Words don't mean anything to me!

[–]reluctant_commenter 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I hated men looking at me and treating me like shit.

Which is a totally legitimate frustration for a teenage girl to have! It's depressing that her attempt to solve the problem was to try to not be seen as a girl.

I marched in Batik, a traditional Indonesian textile...because my culture is who I am as a Queer person.

As a Midwesterner, should I trot around in overalls to proclaim my identity or should I take it back farther and wear a dirndl?

My great grandfather was Irish so I speak in a broad Irish accent and only every drink Guiness and Irish whiskey because to do anything else would be to deny my culture.

[–]julesburm1891 8 insightful - 5 fun8 insightful - 4 fun9 insightful - 5 fun -  (3 children)

I damn well hope you let people know that you are actually Irish, not American/Australian/Canadian. It is your Irishness that defines you as Queer person and don’t ever let anyone forget it!

Oh I do. Whenever I see non-Irish people in Aussie bars culturally appropriating Guinness, I pour my drink over them and demand they be escorted from the premises.

Transitioning used to mean to transition from one sex body to another sex body, through medical means, surgery, cosmetic means, and/or socially. Now it means to go from one gender to another gender. So if a woman wants to switch over from woman-gender to potato-gender, they are now trans.

I don't understand how or why the FTM's and MTF's put up with this? Why are they okay with sharing their label with these clowns?

This is just a GNC woman who wants to steal other people's labels. NEWSFLASH, HONEY. None of us wanted to wear a string bikini and have creepy pervert men look at us like fuck-puppets when we were children. This is not an US problem, this is a problem having to do with society and consumerism and the belief that little girls want to look older, and that skimpy shit will sell better than sensible shit.

The transmedicalist ("truscum") sub-community of transgender-identified people does not seem okay with it. I think they are pretty pissed. They are now being censored by the gender identity ideologists ("tucutes"), however. I think there was an example post about it a few days ago or something.

edit:

NEWSFLASH, HONEY. None of us wanted to wear a string bikini and have creepy pervert men look at us like fuck-puppets when we were children.

You're very right. But I wonder if some young girls don't realize it because we don't talk about this kind of sexism enough.

You're very right. But I wonder if some young girls don't realize it because we don't talk about this kind of sexism enough.

I think this is at the very root of the "I'm not like the other girls" problem. We've all been lied to by male-controlled media our whole lives. We've been told that women and girls are a certain way (it would take a whole essay to list it all, but you already know what I mean) and individual girls and women have been made to feel like we are the freaks for not being this certain way. You've probably seen the videos comparing the girl clothes to the boy clothes. It's such a deep rooted problem, and anyone who tries to speak up about it gets branded a prude or a weirdo, or is just ignored and silenced.

The second part of the problem is that many little girls DO want it, because they've been groomed by media and society to want it. They want to feel pretty, because pretty girls have more social value than frumpy girls, and because being pretty feels good.

It just has so many layers to it, and every layer is covered by smelly rotting fungus.

When will the genderspecial crowd learn that women are oppressed because of their sex, not gender. You ain't escaping nothing by shaving your head and going: "teehee looks like I'm not a woman anymore".

Also the logic of "Gender is oppresive. That's why I'm THIS gender now!" LMFAO

[–]slushpilot 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Wait, how can she be both agender and trans? Trans means you're going from one to the other, not eliminating both options.

Also butch is only used for women. How can you be visibly butch if you're no longer a woman?

Keyboard barbarian logic: everything is colonization and cultural appropriation unless the community being targeted is women and/or gay, because you can't change your ethnicity and race but sex and sexuality is FlUiD

Lmao SBS is the absolute wokest of woke.

There's several mtfs that sit in the comment section of their social media ready to pounce at wrong think.

So I'm not surprised at this ridiculous article.

[–]SapphicFox 8 insightful - 4 fun8 insightful - 3 fun9 insightful - 4 fun -  (6 children)

Its hilarious tome that the ones that pick the more 'special' labels tend to look bland and basic AF in real life.

[–]Three_oneFourWanted for thought crimes in countless ideologies 10 insightful - 7 fun10 insightful - 6 fun11 insightful - 7 fun -  (5 children)

They use language to mask reality. Those who are the least interesting people need the most interesting labels to compensate for the fact that they're more basic than soap

[–]reluctant_commenter 10 insightful - 5 fun10 insightful - 4 fun11 insightful - 5 fun -  (4 children)

Hey, there are some pretty cool types of soap out there, don't do soap dirty.

[–]Three_oneFourWanted for thought crimes in countless ideologies 6 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 4 fun -  (3 children)

I hope my pun was not too niche for others. I tried to make a joke about how soap is a base, an in the context of acidity. It is fairly basic, having a pH of around 10 or more, but these bitches would clock in at around 12 or higher, being much more basic than soap

[–]reluctant_commenter 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

I was totally joking! Your pun makes sense :) maybe I should add a /s lol. I tried to respond with another pun but mine was pretty low-quality...
