“I’m biologically human, I identify as a female- therefore I’m a biological female”

“Even some gynecologists can’t discern a neovagina from a vagina”

“I don’t have to disclose my sex at birth before I rape have sex with someone, because it’s just my medical history.”

And the most ridiculous of all, often repeated and typed in all caps for emphasis:

“Transwomen are women and transmen are men”

Bonus: terfs deny science. (This one is particularly hilarious and ironic to me)

Terfs deny science is one of my personal favorites. The TRA definition of terf is in no way limited to radfems, but rather includes the views of the general public. So, they’re saying the overwhelming majority of people deny science while they make outlandish claims with zero solid evidence.

Yeah, the science one really gets me. To me, what makes so weird is the specific combination of 1) their beliefs being utterly unscientific and universally recognized as such until a few years ago, and 2) they're so frickin' eager to claim the scientific high ground.

The validity of TRA ideology has a lot more to do with linguistics, philosophy, and history than it does with science, but they'll feel the need to toss in their supposed scientific superiority anyway--and then make no effort whatsoever to back it up with any specific claims, let alone citation, to boot.

This sort of thing has happened over and over in my recent discussions on the subject, such as:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFRweWREbZc&lc=UgxLYNXe7s60PgrHeZd4AaABAg.8tcmKqvY8qv9HQ-9BPIEub

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIFdWhRwfFg&lc=Ugy_XS31JgcfxNFCzHV4AaABAg.9HVE5UWaf3d9HcQD9XPvwo

(These should link to specific comments in which a TRA claims the scientific high ground out of nowhere. The full discussions are worth reading from the beginning though, IMO.)

They can't win on philosophy and history, though, which is why they're trying to change the public perception of the facts and shut down any debate in those other disciplines as fundamentally harmful to trans people.

What happens when the liberal arts disciplines get drawn into this nonsense: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypatia_transracialism_controversy

“Terfs deny science”

TRAs taking our talking points and claiming it as theirs to make themselves seem more rational and sane. 😂

I get to be a raging lunatic who lives in my own filth, looks disgusting, and smells putrid. And I get to screech hateful and violent threats and act like a victim 24/7 and run around the streets with a baseball bat, ready to smash a woman's teeth in, just for looking at me wrong. I get to spread lies because my reality is more important than your reality. And I get to view you as a non-human sex-object who only exists to make me cum. But if you don't want to enthusiastically gobble my girl cock right now, you are the bad guy. Anyone who isn't sexually attracted to me is a horrible person who deserves to be destroyed.

Oh god, such an embarrassment of riches! (And by "riches" I mean raw sewage.)

It's a toss-up between:

  • "TWAW and lesbians better agree by servicing my girldick or else! But I can't have sex with other transbians cuz Muh Dysphoria... somehow."
  • "Iran performs all those (forced, on SSA people) "trans" surgeries = LGBTQWTF ally!"
  • "Dudes getting boners from stuff like wearing women's clothes isn't SEXUAL, it's, um... "gender euphoria"! Yeah! They're just so, yanno, happy to be their true womanly selves! And that totally PROVES they're women, of course, since what woman hasn't felt the same way whenever she puts on her bra, amirite ladies?"
  • "TERFs just want to enforce restrictive old-fashioned gender roles! Also I knew I was REALLY a girl cuz I: liked pink/played with dolls/couldn't do math."
  • "Everyone must treat me as the sex corresponding to my "gender identity", lest I commit suicide! Also, did I mention that I'm TRANS? Which I am, by the way. Trans, that is. You know I'm trans, right? Trans, that's me! And don't you forget it! That, yanno, I'm trans! Just thought I'd remind you. Of my trans-ness. In case you couldn't tell. Cuz I'm TRANS, TRANS, TRAAAANS!!!"

God, this one always gets me. It's so utterly ridiculous, lol. Like, what woman looks in the mirror and gets immediately turned on because she sees herself wearing a dress??

Odd fact: men can get erections while dying from various forms of execution.* I'm not denying the potential link between autogynophilia and transwomen--I'm just saying: don't underestimate the weirdness of physiological sexual arousal.

'Argument' isn't necessarily the right word, I don't think.

Their whole conception of what it means to be a trans person is rooted in the same unfalsifiable beliefs that drive most of organised religion. This essentially boils down to

I just know that [I'm actually a woman in a man's body / God exists]. I feel it.

And years of being told that subjective experience is off-limits to criticism or probing questions has lead to this belief being accepted unquestioningly.

[–]mvmlego 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've noticed the similarities between organized religion (or at least the worst parts of it) and the TRA movement, and I think it can be used to our advantage, in some cases.

When my college was planning to review and modify its free speech policy a couple of years ago, I attended the student forum on it. There were a lot of TRAs who were upset that the new policy would still allow criticism of gender identity and related concepts (which of course they automatically classified as "hate speech").

They seemed to be gaining the upper hand in the discussion, so I spoke up and mentioned that a lot of religious people consider their religious beliefs to be just as crucial to their identity as trans people feel about their gender identity--and that nonetheless, we would rightfully consider it absurd and deeply authoritarian to forbid people from disputing the existence of God, regardless of what emotional despair or psychological stress such discussions could cause for the religious person.

I'm not sure how convincing that was to the students there, but it seemed to get through to some of the school administrators who were in attendance.

"Modern Biology textbooks mention the distinction between sex and gender".

Then they tried to discredit biology as a science altogether. It is because of them that I know what Lysenkoism is.

[–]8bitgay 24 insightful - 3 fun24 insightful - 2 fun25 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Not a single argument, but I find it interesting how often TRAs contradict each other. For example:

In our LGB definition sexuality depends on sex. Gay men want men of the male sex.

For them, initially, gender is all. The way you identify is the most important thing and defines also your placement in relation to people's sexualities. So if you identify as man, you're a man. In this definition, gay men want men - and everyone who identifies as man fits this.

This leaves large gaps in a TRA mindset, but maybe the largest gap has the non-binary shape. After all, non-binary people (and other neo-gender identities) don't identify as man. So now gay men want masculinity - everyone who performs masculinity fits this, regardless of identifying as man.

Obviously this invalidates men who aren't masculine enough. Ironically, it even invalidates non-masculine transmen.

There are more versions of this "gay men don't feel attracted to genitals, they actually feel attracted to X" argument, and they all keep contradicting each other. But these 2 are the ones I remember right now. Feel free to reply adding more of these arguments that you might have heard!

[–]fuck_reddit 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They can define what being trans is but gays, bis, and lesbians aren't allowed to define our own sexuality... Also, some gay men are attracted to feminine guys, but TRA's don't say that they have to date women.

Gay men want men of the male sex.

Not the most ridiculous, but gnc "cis" folks being called eggs. I consider trans/nonbinary folks to be gnc folks who believe they're not "cis" because they're delusional and possibly dysphoric.

  • No such thing as sex binary/ no difference between a man and a woman’s body
  • Likening transgenders to black people
  • Likening feminists to Nazis
  • Gender/biology is white supremacy

Just had a little back & forth under a YouTube video two days ago, that goes with this topic. This "woman" (tbf I don't know for sure if she was trans or not) made an argument, citing YouTuber Samantha Luxe. She said that transgirls & transwomen should be allowed in female sports, because after 12 months of hormone therapy, their bodies are essentially the same as "cis" women. I kid you not. This same "woman" in the midst of this discussion claimed that she knows that transwomen & "cis" women will always be different, but surgeries have gotten so good that transwomen's secondary sex characteristics are basically the same as "cis" women.

Also, that being born a biological male, "doesn't make them less of a woman". I swear you can't make this stuff up.

[–]fuck_reddit 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Tell that to all the female athletes that are suddenly getting badly injured by the transwomen that are "essentially the same" as them...

Love this thread. There are so many pieces of nonsense in transgender ideology, and it's all deeply homophobic (and sexist).

Here's a great list of some more contradictions: https://www.womenarehuman.com/transparadoxes-self-contradictions-of-the-gender-identity-movement/

"If trans women aren't women then what about intersex people?"

Overheard OUT LOUD. In REAL LIFE. I'm used to the stupid argument of "Nonbinary is valid because intersex people are nasty he-shes who are neither sex", but, wtf did this one even mean? "What about intersex people" what? Was this person saying that intersex men/women are nothing and can't be men/women, thus, if we don't allow men to call themselves women, we also can't be considered anything but less than human?

[–]PenseePansyBio-Sex or Bust 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Was this person saying that intersex men/women are nothing and can't be men/women, thus, if we don't allow men to call themselves women, we also can't be considered anything but less than human?

Of course I can't say for sure without the (no doubt idiotic) context, but, basically... yeah; that'd be my guess. Since "intersex" is so often taken to mean "third sex"-- rather than male or female with a medical condition affecting sexual development-- it's gotta be both (hermaphroditic) or neither. So there's no such thing as an intersex woman. Or so the reasoning (such as it is) goes, I'm assuming.

But hey... aren't they saying that "trans women" aren't REALLY women either? If not men, then some weird "other"? As though "trans" itself is some "third sex?" Oh noes! Transphobia! REEEEEE

[–]hetisachoice 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I have yet to hear a non-ridiculous argument about anything from them. The litany of excuses for why one can opt out of one's birth sex but not out of one's birth race or even one's species are the most ludicrous of all.

[–]xanditAGAB (Assigned Gay at Birth) 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That genitals are neither male or female... so penis cam be women's genitalia if attached to a woman.

That we can't know what's in someone's pants even though 99 percent of the population isn't trans.

The best was recent... because she had changed so many things already from female to male, she was essentially becoming a BIOLOGICAL male now.

[–]INeedSomeTimeAsexual Ally 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The bizarre claim that the existence of only 2 sexes is only primary school knowledge. I dunno, man. I haven't seen more genitals than a vagina and a dick to reproduce. And intersex people, while mostly also distinctively female or male, if they happen to be truly mixed then it's still a mix of 2 sexes. But intersex people take offense in saying they're third sex even.

I remember seeing such thread trying to debunk the dichotomy of human sexes and the best thing is it wasn't a TRA account. I followed an account supporting asexual people and when I saw this thread I hit unfollow instant. TRA propaganda is everywhere.

Found a new one.

Me: women reported getting filmed in the shower right after a university changed all the spaces to gender neutral.

TRA: but can you really say it's because of gender neutral spaces? Here's an unrelated link to an article from Singapore of a man sneaking into women's spaces and filming them.

??? I'm still confused.
