There's https://forums.slgbs.org/, which is part of the #SuperStraight/Sexualities movements. Not a lot of activity, but we can become active over there.

I thought about creating a backup for lgbdropthet but changed my mind. Currently working on other projects at the moment.

I only made this Saidit account honestly to check out DroptheT and GC sub(which I don't consider myself GC anymore since it's tied to a certain ideology).

But anyways, I think that slgbs forum may be one of the best alternatives we have for now.

Do you think the queer and trans movement will drive lesbians - particularly young lesbians - into the arms of radical feminists? by SickOfThisShitNow in LGBDropTheT

[–]PeakingPeachEater 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of any extreme ideology, and I would say radical feminism is extreme.

Just some background on me I suppose...

I used to be extremely interested in radical feminism, studied up on it, watched videos, read articles, and spoke with other radfems to better understand the ideology. In the end, I came to the conclusion of just staying unaligned.

I've made a couple comments in the past about my experience with radical feminism, but I will condense it down.

But first I want to say---I have nothing against radfems, so hope nobody gets it twisted. I had many radfems call me "heartless" and "cold" for not sympathizing with transitioning despite being detrans myself. I don't hate trans people, I just don't agree with any type or form of transitioning but that makes me an "extremist, heartless asshole" lol. Then I have some radfems who I like, and they were very cool to talk to. I know not all are the same.

Anyways...

My time over there, I have seen many misandrist comments and even comments shaming other women calling them handmaidens for the smallest things. There was an argument before that "women wear makeup because men made them" but then a lesbian women chimed in(not sure if she might actually be on this sub?) and said she likes to wear makeup for herself, and she's in a relationship with a woman, not a man. So they argued back and forth with her...They've also complained about women shaving---which...I don't see what the problem is as someone who's done athletics?? Both men and women shave for athletics lol. And even if they didn't, who cares if someone shaves or not? That's there personal preference. But I guess that makes them handmaidens for liking to shave. Some days I'm a hairy wookie, and other days I'm hairless and shiny like Mr. Clean's head.

In regards to the misandrist comments I saw, I saw some that said "Women shouldn't give birth, because they might end up raising another oppressor". That seems a bit fucked up to see your own son in that light for just being born. I even had someone tell me that it's in men's DNA/biological nature to be "predatory" and "rapists". Unless they're homosexual men, this radfem said that homosexual men like Blaire White are not a threat to women. Not exactly...sure what they're trying to say about homosexual men, hopefully a good thing?? But I'm thinking maybe they're not thinking well of them.

I've also noticed radical feminism is mostly american-centric. There were several posts saying "vote for Biden!! we have no choice, because he's lesser evil than Trump!!" and when a fellow latin mentioned some things that Biden did and was mostly neutral, they attacked her and said she was wrong and her comments were downvoted. There's a hive think in that particular website, if you don't agree with them, they downvote you to hell.

I actually made a controversial post that poked holes in their hypocrisy to where they called me heartless and a few other names lol. I wont post it here though, but I can DM you OP on that one haha.

Anyways to answer your question:

Do you think the queer and trans movement will drive lesbians - particularly young lesbians - into the arms of radical feminists?

I would have to say some maybe---but the #SuperStraight movment might be more appealing to the younger audience for the wholesomeness and memes. So, they'll probably check out the #SuperLesbian equivalent to it.

I'm just looking for other people's perceptions - or your own experiences of this. Although my primary concern is the impact that the TQ movement is having, it does worry me that the reaction will be to escape into another ideology, which again looks appealing on the surface but doesn't represent our interests.

Yeah, it can be worrisome. My younger brother is in his early 20s, when he was in college, he got sucked up into those religious cults and wouldn't shut the fuck up about it for the longest time. When he dropped out of college, he realized how ridiculous the cult was and went back to being an agnostic/"apatheist"(aka, doesn't give a shit about what is or isn't). But now he debates those former cultists when they try to proselytize him and purposely argues with them for "fun", but I digress.

Anywho, I don't particular like to identify with any ideology at all. Some people try to make it their whole being/"personality". Atheism seems to be a word used more for politics[ex. "All atheists are liberals!!! If you don't agree with us, you're just as bad as those Christians!! But also we don't mind Muslims for some strange reason because we're progressives!!! That'd be 'racist' if we didn't agree with Muslims!!!"] than it's actually meaning now, so I don't use that word to identify myself. Now I just say I lack belief or don't have religion. I could go on about the atheist community but then I'd be straying way off topic lol.

Damn, that post was depressing, but does explain biphobia so well. He has no one to talk to about this except the bisexual community.

Also, I don't think it's very....not sure what the word is---I think it's kinda crappy that he would consider breaking up with his girlfriend because of his parents homophobia. The GF didn't do anything wrong...but if he's not that into her, then I supposed there's nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn't just date a woman to prove a point that "I'm not straight", it's silly.

Good post though. I'll have to check out r/BiBros and r/BisexualMen. I occasionally lurk reddit to see what crazy or interesting content they may have. I have a feeling the female equivalent will either be privated, banned, or invaded by TQ+. :-/ I'll have to keep on the lookout for it.

I just wish we had a community AWAY from all this gender identity nonsense. The TQ get to have their own space PLUS invade ours---that's what's frustrating...

Exactly!! It's just so weird and gross.

Unfortunately, this guy is friends with HR and has worked here for decades. He even mentioned how he "built this company" basically and brags about it. Everyone that's in upper management are pompous jackasses who don't care about us. They even bully the leadership team below them. I'm just glad I don't work there anymore. It was a hell hole.

Also, this trans male boss transition later in life, around early 40s. His "dead name", aka, birthname, is still on some of the company stuff and I've seen it.

I really doubt he's always "felt like a girl" based on that and also joining the military and telling stereotypical "dude-bro" stories at the time he was there. Lol

Yep, and it's frustrating and annoying to deal with.

Had to deal with it at last job, my boss was a trans male, and he acted stereotypically girly(ex. loved pink, long hair, anime...says he "talks a lot", etc) and considers himself a "girly-girl" it was weird...since he's a middle-age man with a wife and kids. Apparently, he came out as polyarmorous recently to the entire work and talks about it all the time...It's just come on man, nobody cares. First coming out as trans, now was poly.

I'm glad I work at new job, but just now received an email for a work survey from someone who puts "she/her" in their bloody email signature.

Anyways...I wish these TQ+ things were separate from work AND from hobby/interest groups such as the one you were in. Gender identity politics don't belong in a gay MEN'S group. It's not up for debate, you have XY chromosome and like men, you're gay. If you're female, taken hormones and did surgery to appear as man...you go to a "gay" TRANSmen's group.

Not sure why a trans"woman" is in a gay men's group if "she" believes that "she" is a woman. Lol. Jeez...they need to go to their own group because we hardly have any of our own...

I don't understand why people always have to center the world around the TQ+ and accommodate them all the time while allowing them to invade our spaces, it's annoying and stupid.

Exactly, we should be able to do what we want. I have people comment everytime I cut my hair short. It's customary for me to grow out my hair for a year then I chop it into a pixie cut/short haircut haha. Men always say I should've kept it and women say "Wow, you're so brave, I could never do that!" Okay....

Also about appropriate/safe for children, agreed on that too. I hate that they're allowing children to wear hyper sexualize "drag" costumes. Why can't they keep it normal and feminine like Pierre XO(he's more punk-rock in style) and (some) of Miles Kai's outfits?

  1. They're creepy Yaoi fangirls/fujoshi that want to be a beautiful/pretty boy "uke" to their "seme".

  2. It drives me up the wall too as a bisexual woman, she's an asshole/idiot.

  3. Probably a creepy "f*g-hag"---I think that's how they say it in English?...They're OBSESSED with gay men.

** Unfortunately, I know what "uke" and "seme" mean because I was best friends with a creepy yaoi fangirl since grade school up until junior high and she wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. She wanted to be an "uke" and have a "seme". She went from calling herself "pansexual" to "lesbian". She's dated boys in the past and had a huge crush on me, it was not subtle. Hi Kai! :)

Yeah...Groups are too much sometimes. I always end up in "trio groups" somehow. The pro to it is that I wont have complete focus or attention on me(i hate getting any attention...) but the bad thing is I usually end up as the 'designated leader', aka "What fun activities are you going to plan for us today Peach?". .___. The only 'good' thing I can say about a big groups(5+ peeps) is that I get to melt in the background, but there's a lot of cons too lol.

I noticed that whenever I did make a friend and they introduced me into a group, I never fared well and the initial friend I have stops interacting with me as much as they find they have more in common with their already established friend(s).

If you don't mind me asking, does it usually occur due to not having similar interests or perhaps they didn't get to know you well?

I ask because...

I make friendly chat with people, then they want to be "besties" and it doesn't end to well for our friendship due to 1) getting overwhelmed by the sudden transition from acquaintances to friends and shutting down 2) They don't know me well...And usually we have only ONE mutual interest but nothing else in common or nothing else interesting to talk about except for one subject... and 3)...I don't want the same type of friendship that they want. I want someone who can fair well with being alone and not fill in the silence with idle chatter and expecting me to answer to everything they say and having to be around each other 24/7(i had clingy friends in the past...)

I actually lost a lot of my other online friends when I came out in support of JK Rowling and came out as Gender Critical admitting that I don't believe in Transgender ideology and that men can't become women or vice versa.

Dang, I'm sorry to hear about that! :-( I mentioned in another comment that I had a friend, I'll call him vaquero, he was my trans male cousin's friend, but we hit it off as friends too. Vaquero's right-leaning, I'm unaligned/moderate(used to be left-leaning and shook out of that completely), even when we had disagreements, he was very respectful and shared his views in eloquent and polite ways. We were both actually in agree about being against my cousin transitioning and spoke in private...We were both concerned for him and the sudden change---it seems like he is getting abused by his parents who treat him like shit was our conclusion---my uncle and aunt are despicable to be honest...

Then in the flip side i became aquainted with stalky pansexual (former) coworker who gets ANGRY if you disagree with her woke™ views and treats you like an idiot. It was tiring. I cut her off after, and she still texted me to berate me months after. According to G (former) coworker, she's off her meds and ended up quitting the job so she'd unemployed now. So...yep...

None right now if we're talking IRL. Online, I have only 3 friends I associate with and it's mostly through hobby.

Same boat, no IRL friends unless my brothers count?? But they don't really stay in contact, i have to make the effort all the time, idk if I wanna keep making the effort... As for online friends...I think I have mostly in acquaintance level close to friend level?? I like them and would consider as friend, but don't know how they feel about me, so I'd say acquaintances for now haha.

I mainly just look for having things in common, fairly positive attitude (they don't have to be happy all the time but what I mean is jut trying to see the bright side of things and not dwell too much on the negative), and patience.

Those are good traits to have for sure! I like friends that are also productive and inspired, because it motivates me.

She can still have a dating profile but make a separate profile for friendships with other women and for business too if she wanted.

What she's doing right now is not appropriate. Imagine if she matched with guy after guy who are like "LOL jk I'm only looking for friends, sucks for you". Pretty sure she wouldn't like that.

Yeah, I was curious. I told him I was just basically gonna do a no makeup-makeup look ..like hollywood or idol but that's unacceptable to him. He said men can only put on foundation and eyeliner?? Idk, just confused. I asked my brothers and partner(all straight men) and they said "of course men don't like makeup" and they found it weird that my G friend would be OK with foundation or eyeliner. Then when I said my friend was gay, they all went "Wait WHAT? That doesn't make any sense!" Uhm...not all gay men wear makeup?? Lol so their uh...view is a bit skewed too.

Personally, if a man wants to wear makeup, I really don't care. I only care if us women are FORCED to while they don't lol. I mentioned that certain eastern countries have men wearing makeup as the norm and my G friend still thought it was weird/wrong. Idk, I mean... It just depends on the culture. I feel bad for gender nonconforming men now...they must get a lot of shit for being themselves, I know I did when I was extremely GNC, got told to "wear makeup" and "grow out your hair" all the time to "look pretty"/"Why did you cut your hair? You were so pretty!" Wow lol.

while irl men in entertainment professions like actors and newscasters wear makeup all the time. I have male friends who don't mind their female friends putting full face makeup on them for fun. It depends on the person, but most people don't like the idea of feminine men.

Exactly!!! It's common for people in entertainment to have makeup, and hell, even plastic surgery.

I just wonder if maybe I said something triggering by accident that made him go off? I don't know if I should apologize or what happened? Just confused...

Just like you, I make friends easily but I don't like long distance communication and tend to ghost them. Sorry, friends! Tbh any form of socializing drains me out, but long distance is the worst.

Damn dude, yes that's me. I get drained too easily and tired. I need a LOT of space to recoup man. People think I'm extroverted because I can be a clown or jokester, but I'm an introvert lol. Introverted ≠ shy, we're not SHY at all, that's why many don't think I'm introverted lol. They only seen the "energized" side of me. My partner is extroverted in comparison to me. He likes to be around his friends/family constantly.

Friends are people I emotionally connected to despite our different interests, the rest (like work friends) are acquaintances to me. I keep a certain distance even to my very few closest friends though--I think I know way more about them than they about me. Kinda off topic, I don't usually make friends with my friends' partners unless they're both friends with me before they hit if off.

I can relate to that too!! I tried in past to become friends with coworkers to "get out of my shell" but...I'm not going to try anymore. Just keep it at acquaintances. I do have a boss that games tho, so we just talk about work only and videogames. That's it lol. Going to play games together later. I'm keeping it as mellow as possible.

In friendships, I tend to listen more than I talk (energy saving) and try to not talk about personal belief or religion. I keep the topics revolve around usual stuff; like movies, trending restaurants or their kids. Maybe that's why I don't (think I) have any enemy or have any friendship-ending disagreements.

I used to be like that all the time, but ended up trying to "open up" and I regret that now lol. I'm just going to stick to doing what I know best, and keep it more closed off and reserved until I get to know them better. I've had people randomly come up to me and ask personal questions, and I'll answer it honestly(though sometimes vaguely haha), then they wanna continue talking about those topics. In particular, when it's political, I may mention something briefly, and then they think I agree with EVERYTHING they say. It's tiring.

For a friend, I look for tolerance, the ability to agree to disagree and focus on our similarities instead of differences. About disagreement between friends, I listen to both sides and refuse to remain neutral. Not in the sense of attacking the one in the wrong, but in the sense that I tell the right one they're right and make the wrong one see their mistake so that we can come up with a peaceful solution.

I had a really good friend like that! But I moved...and he's technically my trans male cousin's friend. We hit it off good as friend's though. He does agree with me in regards to transitioning. He told me in private he was worried about my cousin transitioning and talked about it a little bit. We don't agree with everything politically, he's right leaning, I'm unaligned--used to be left leaning lol. He's really mellow and easy to talk to, and explains his views eloquently.

Whoa, are you me? I used to feel guilty for not keeping in touch with my friends. Now wishing happy birthdays, anniversaries, New Years and sending presents are regular low energy ways for me to keep my friendships going (and prevents them for thinking I wanna borrow money when I suddenly contact them lol). Not the best way to be up to date about their life, of course, but it works for me. Maybe that could work for you, too?

That sounds like a really good idea!! I'll have to look into doing that. :-) Once I get...some friends again lol. It's kinda been too long to contact them again, we're on good terms, it's just...awkward. I also don't have the big social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any of that type---most use that stuff but I don't want to. I give them my email address and phone# and we talk old school if they want to reach me.

Oh dang, I'm sorry! That bites that you lost friends due to TQ idealogy. I had a few good friends back in college days, but I moved around so much and they're now about 1,000 kilometers away...it's hard to keep in touch and we're in different phases in our lives. But I feel if we met again, we'd left off where we were.

The recent people I became "friends" with are from my former TQ+ job. They were very left-wing americans---they used to talk about politics all day...talking about how "great" Biden is and getting excited that Trump might die...eh...they would get mad if you disagreed with their politics, so after awhile I stopped engaging with them. I think I won't mix work & friendships so much anymore and keep it more mellow at acquaintance level.

Ah, I see. Did they recently change to non-binary or TQ? Perhaps they may come around given time. It's good you also have a friend that understands you. It's always nice to have support! My brothers, if they count, would be considered my best and only current friends at the moment. Otherwise, not really any friend-friends outside of work-related.

I feel you on the censor thing, I have to do that around everyone except my brothers and partner lol.

It sounds like you both had a good time at the wedding! It's always nice to celebrate that with the people whom are near and dear to you. :)

It was very simple, just what we wanted.

I like that a lot! If I were to ever marry, I would want something simple too, with the main focus on my spouse heh. Either just the two of us for the wedding and skipping to honey moon, or having a rad reception with close friends. I have a LOT of family, but not close to them---only my brothers I am close to, they're my best friends.

For now, I have anniversary to use as excuse to party, go out, and spoil my partner lol.

Do you revist place for anniversaries or celebrate your anniversary? Was curious, my parents never celebrated their anniversary and I thought that was a common thing amongst couple's while I was young...but my dad also didn't celebrate holidays and my mother only celebrated catholic holidays and that's it.

Note: we didn't invite my husband's parents because we were not sure they would approve of legal marriage. They are supportive of our relationship but also they are devout Christians, father-in-law has expressed doubts about gay marriage in the past, so we didn't want to put them in an awkward position.

That is considerate of you and understandable. It makes it less awkward for both parties. This sounds cheesy, but. . .hopefully they come around to not feeling awkward about gay marriage. I have a lot of religious relatives that are against it, my mother is one of them, but acts like it's "ok" while making snide remarks. As long as HER kids aren't gay/bi she's happy but woops. Lol

Ooo, you anniversaries sound really romantic and nice! I am jelly. Our anniversary happens to fall on a major holiday haha. But we celebrate it with spending the day together and giving gifts.

I've only been to one too and invited to a few but..I move around so much so I wasn't able to attend.

The one I went to is EXACTLY how you described it, it was boring at a Catholic church, reception was no music or dance. :-/ In my country, there will be more music, karaoke, dance, and lots of good food with alcohol. This one, they just sit and talk at reception. The bride was the niece of my aunt(who married my uncle). So I don't really know them all too well...

I've been getting recommendations out of the blue for "Say Yes to the Dress" and it inspired this post hahaha. Ive seen a cool one with two brides(fiancées) both trying on their wedding dresses to compliment one another. I thought it was cute. Here is the video I am talking about: Brides Want to Find Unique Dresses that Work Well Together | Say Yes to the Dress Lancashire .

On TV, they make their weddings look really interesting, I wonder how it looks without the video edits tho, heh.

Ooooo, boy I feel you on that one haha.

I went to a group therapy session once since my then counsellor recommended it ...and...it was really awkward. They asked us "why do are you here?" And I answered to get better/improve (because otherwise, I don't see any point in being there) but everyone just looked at me funny, wouldn't talk hardly during the session. Therapist asked if everyone agreed and they all said no. So I'm like wtf is the point of this session??

Maybe I'm insensitive, but I thought the purpose of going to therapy is to get help to fix issues/problem areas in life...

Then I had the FLIP side where the therapist was like "Just THINK positive, you'll feel better." Oh gee Doc, I didn't think of that. I'm not some damn hippy who's going to think "positive vibes" all the time. And she focused on a lot of non-issue and trivial things in my life while ignoring the stuff I really needed help with...

Soooo...not a fan of group settings nor therapy in general but I'm a hard ass and old school. It's possible that I haven't found a good one yet.

That's a good way of looking at it. I thought I was only same-sex attracted for the longest time, plus being gender non-conforming---I wanted to be perceived as "normal" by transitioning and becoming a "straight boy". I was, as the saying goes, "young and dumb".

Who are you trying to be attractive to? Who are you attracted to? Are you avoiding attracting certain people? Maybe these transitioners would find that too upsetting, though.

I think the tough questions need to be asked, because going through with surgery or taking hormones that have permanent effects is serious and needs to be thought over. If it's permanent/life changing, people will need to think about what they do before they do.

Here was my comment below:

Well, I'm gendernonconforming and detrans who's not for transitioning, so I'll try to be unbiased but...If they give superficial reasons for wanting to transition, I will call it out...as nicely as possible lol.

I come from an environment that was extremely religious, sexist and well...abusive... I thought I needed to "transition" to be normal since my interests were stereotypical "masculine" and I also was only same-sex attracted from grade school...until late teens/early 20s, I became attracted to the opposite sex too apart from same-sex.

Many confused me as a boy anyways, so it made it a bit easier. I was a young teen when I wanted to transition, and read up about gender dysphoria (which mine was severe) and also looked into hormones/surgery but that scared me off and made me more depressed that I could NEVER be like a biological male and wished I would just die instead...or be "reborn" as one.

Anyways, detransitioned around late teens/early 20s somewhere around there. So...that's just a little bit of background.

To answer your question, I would look deep into WHY they want to transition. Ask them questions on "Why do you feel you should be born female/male" and depending on their answer...just go over it with them.

For example "I wish I was born a girl because I love makeup, dresses, and going shopping" or "I wish I was a boy because I love math, sports, and technology #NotLikeOtherGirls™" ...then those are shallow reasons and would tell them both they can still be themselves without having to change their sex and challenge their sexist perceptions.

If he said "I hate my hairy body, I hate seeing XYZ about body and wish I could just rip this off, etc", then we'd talk about the body issues he's facing and what we can do to help with the body dysphoria. I've experienced that too, so I would be gentle and do the best I can to help him navigate his feelings.

If she said " I wish I were a boy because in my culture, women are treated as lesser beings and I want to be seen as more" or even..."I want to be a boy to avoid child marriage" that's a WHOLE OTHER thing to unpack that's culture related...Once again, would just have discussions about it.

Also, HousePlant has a really good answer on what she would do if she had a trans support group. I'm not for transitioning either, but would have to be unbiased in this situation as much as possible.

[Article] 7 Issues Bisexual People Face by PeakingPeachEater in Bisexuals

[–]PeakingPeachEater[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

  1. Coming Out: I don't really "come out" unless it has to do with my romantic love interest or if people ask me lol. Haven't really had issues there.

  2. Familial & Social Rejection : If I would've told my (hyper) religious parents or relatives, they would've disowned me, I'm not close to them so I don't care, but I also see no point in "coming out" to them to give myself grief and a headache.

  3. Delegitimozation: Eh, most I've heard is people calling bisexual men "gay" and bisexual women "straight", but not really directed at me. People don't really pay attention to bisexuals all that much.

  4. Stereotypes: I see this A LOT. My younger brother thought my bisexuality is a phase. My brothers are blind to not see I was bisexual this whole time and assumed I was a straight tomboy. Every Tom, Dick, and Jane I meet always assumes I'm a lesbian. I've also seen some biphobia in the other sub, LGBDTT, but I think it's mainly trolls trying to rile people up.

  5. Discrimination : ... I've experienced that but not because I'm bisexual, let's go to the next question.

  6. Mental Health & Healthcare: Yep...Went to therapy for mental health. Also, had severe gender dysphoria at one point and confused about my bisexuality and gender nonconformity---but never spoke of these particular issues to the therapist, only other non-related issues. Not a fan of going to therapy based on my experiences, but I should probably try it again...

  7. Love, Dating, & Sex: LOL My current partner---when we first got together joked about threesomes. He doesn't care if we do or don't.

Nice! We have our own news website, I was a bit envious that the L&G have Lesbian & Gay News.

Anyways, it's interesting to see how bisexuals were treated back then...Do you guys feel it was due to distinct biphobia or moreso this bisexual veteran was seen as "gay" and they banned him from being same-sex attracted? I know that either way is bad, of course, just wondering how much visibility we had back then or if we were lumped in with the L&G?

I'd like to see a collection or collage of articles showing bisexual history leading up to now---with all the craziness happening with becoming "bisexual +/plus", "pansexuality" and "queer".

Wow, what's wrong with people?? I didn't even realize it was Millie Bobby Brown's picture.

I looked up Millie Bobby Brown meme | vox and clicked on the first result. It seems like Vox is mostly defending people for harassing a 14y.o(at the time) because as stated by the article:

If I’m being honest, I’ll admit to seeing some dark hilarity in this meme; portraying Brown, who seems to be a sweet, tiny human angel, as a vile bigot who mows down gay men with new cars is so ridiculous that it pushes these statements into the realm of surreal humor.

It's not funny to me at, it's plain stupid.

I feel like people are making these memes to express their own true thoughts on what they think of us regular LGB people. Us "cis" gay, lesbian or bisexual people.

I'm not a fan of being called tomboy for a couple of reasons. 1) When men call me that it sounds juvenile since I'm a grown woman. 2) It's another way of telling me I'm "not like other girls because I 'like to get dirty'[I do handyman work...] while most "girls" don't"(I've had men tell me that and it made me uncomfortable, I'm just like any other women, nothing special or different) 3) Women in my family use it to call me "weird"/different or to imply I must be secretly a lesbian for being as single for as long as I was (I didn't mind being single at all lol)

This article explains my feelings better: Here’s Why I Won’t Call My Surfing, Skateboarding, Motorcycle-Riding Daughter A ‘Tomboy’

Snippet:

We used to call girls like Emilia ‘tomboys.’ But I hate that word, because it implies that a girl (or woman, for that matter) who does not conform to girl-coded cultural stereotypes is not only not really a girl, but somehow a kind of a boy. It tells girls (and boys, and women, and men) that there is a right way of being a girl, and a wrong way of being a girl, and if you’re the ‘wrong’ kind of girl, then actually you’re more of a boy. That’s messed up, when you think about it. And that is why that I told her that I would never call her a tomboy. I told her that I would never call her a ‘tomboy’ because I didn’t like comparing her to boys. I told her that I didn’t like thinking of things as ‘boy things’ and ‘girl things’ and that I certainly didn’t like any suggestion that ‘boy things’ were somehow better. I told her that there was a long history in the world of ‘girl things’ being treated as less important than ‘boy things’ and that that was a problem for everyone, and not just girls.

Do you find if people can't "identify" you that they get anxious, or is it just curiousity?

Mostly curiosity or...

I've had men ask me if I'm lesbian, then when I say no, they ask me if I'm single...They try to "gauge" me. 😶 Had some ladies flirting too lol or they're like "I'm bi/lesbian" right off the bat and try to relate with me in friendly way--not always flirting haha. Idk what it isss man. I think I'm just a little eccentric and it's hard for them to tell what I am.

Here's the article source: Kids’ cartoon Bluey criticised for not having ‘disabled, queer, poor, gender diverse or dogs of colour’ | Pink News.

Also here are some snippets:

“Where are the disabled, queer, poor, gender diverse, dogs of colour and single-parent dog families in Bluey‘s Brisbane?” She said. “If they’re in the background, let them come forward.”

Wang acknowledged the creators of Bluey may not “view their show through a political lens”, but she argued it is important for children’s programming to be more representative. She said the “tender, nuanced and joyful” show has already “demonstrated depth and range” in its ability to touch on important issues.

As a parent of colour, I am always conscious of the presence — or absence — of diverse representation in kids’ pop culture, what it means for children and the conversations we have around that,” Wang said. “I sincerely believe you don’t have to be ‘other’ to think about this too.”

She added that the “majority of characters on children’s television are white”, and there are “more animals than people of colour protagonists populating the pages of children’s books”. Wang wrote that television – like children’s literature – could be used to mirror the lived experiences of its viewers. But the lack of diversity in such mediums meant that some people could be missing out.

I can relate to this 100%. I never say what I am unless it's a)Brought up or b) I really like somebody and want a serious relationship with them. My current partner knows I'm bisexual and it didn't change anything. But he's a straight male so...Unsure what kind of reaction I would've got if I dated a lesbian woman. With bisexual person, it'd probably be a lot easier to talk about it since we'd both be able to relate.

Most people make assumptions that I'm a lesbian woman and ALWAYS, ALWAYS ask if I have a girlfriend...I kinda didn't mind back when I was single because hey, I like women. But...Feel a little weird about the assumptions they make...I have a family now and not on the market lol.

I guess my point of view is it's none of their business unless they're a potential love interest or a close friend to where it doesn't matter if I make it known.

People pretty much out me though by trying to figure out what the hell I am lol. Add to that, I was more masculine appearing and try not to seem creepy around women and make them think I'm a creep for existing around them...I'm not as masculine as I used to be and more down the middle(androgynous looking), just a bisexual tomcat lol.

I used to try and make myself seem more "straight" by dressing "girly" or feminine but I feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable like that...They still questioned me based on my "boyish"/"manly" attitude or whatever the hell they wanna call it. Even women used to make me the "man" of our friendgroup but...I'm not a man...

TLDR; I don't like to disclose my sexuality unless it's to potential love interest or close friend. I keep it to myself for the most part---until fools assume I'm a lesbian and I have to awkwardly explain I'm not but that I like both or just ommitt that part and say "No I'm not a lesbian" so they assume I'm a "straight tomboy". LOL

Oooh that just reminded me---I find it very interesting how the "queer" liberals are against christianity but say that islam is 'inclusive' and other lies. I'm not religious one bit nor do I like ANY religion, however, I used to be deeply catholic and when I questioned my religion, I read up on others----islam is NOT forgiving at all or "sunshine and flowers". They follow mostly from the first testament---so instead of turn the other cheek, it's an eye for an eye among other things. More of a "wrathful" god instead of the "forgiving" god from the new testament.

But you know "wHiTe pEoPLe aRe LiTeRaLLy sAtAn!!!" with their christianity lol. I think the hate is mostly towards white americans/english speakers?? I don't see much white hate towards Russians or Italians I don't think---but I could be wrong. I know for sure they don't consider the Spanish to be white in the "queer" eyes even though they are. My relatives there are white lol. At the most the "queer", theorist would probably say Spanish people have white passing privilege, whatever that means.

I'm also really confused on the people of colour term, but I think I piss people off when I say I don't like it lol. I don't want to be called a "coloured" person like they used to call us many decades ago. I find it demeaning. I'm rambling again, woops.

This is an interesting topic, thanks for sharing.

In regards to counting autosexuals as liking the same-sex...

I would say...No, it doesn't count unless they are actively seeking out the same sex. For example, if a straight woman finds herself HIGHLY attractive but finds all other women unattractive sexually/romantically, then she is not bisexual. I would say bisexuality is the attraction towards other men & women---not including oneself.

I do see your point tho, because if said straight women is attracted to herself, a woman, and the definition of bisexuality is attraction to males/men and females/women, then technically, wouldn't she be bisexual? Welcome back to Saidit. :)

I still like some of the nice little subreddits that were there, and it kind of hurts leaving that kind convenience.

I felt that at first when I left close to a decade or so ago, but ended up finding what I need by going on specific forums that are about my interests to fill in that hole.

I'd recommend either creating subs that are in your interest or reviving subs that interest you.

s/bisexuals was dead until I started spamming it participating in it more by making threads daily if I could. We're a bit more active than prior and there are a few regulars there. :)

I'm still eagerly waiting for s/LGB to open up lol.

Ohhhhh Parler sounds like a right leaning twitter pretty much(e.g. still censoring views they don't like). That's boring. Nevermind on recommending them then. I wasn't sure if mastodon censors views too or has freedom of speech. I'll have to look into that too. I heard it was a nice platform.

Reminds me of my former coworker who's pansexual and wOkE. She's a white american woman marrying a white american man, but talked about how "terrible" and "bad" white man are. Uh...I guess you just threw your own fiancé under the bus?? She also claim to be "Sicilian" which she say is different than Italian?? Idk.

Then there was also a former hispanic-american coworker who'd call himself "Mexican"(despite being born in the USA), and didn't believe it's possible to be racist against white people, only "prejudice" against white people. I guess if he wants to be pedantic on the definition of racism meaning being oppressed by the majority then...I guess?? But from what I understood, racism means hating on another race and/or thinking one's own race is superior...also...He needs to realize "hispanic" and "Mexican" is not a race. Technically, his race is white or even mixed since Mexicans are technically mixed with Spanish blood(white) and indigenous and his grandparents is from Spain so LOL even more white.

Why do people hate to be white?? You are born as you are. I'm born mixed race, but people try to shove me in one box when both parents are from different countries...So I say mix instead of one or the other. Makes it easier...

Anywho, I'm rambling. Lol

[Bi-Erasure] What are your thoughts on the "queer" movement? by PeakingPeachEater in Bisexuals

[–]PeakingPeachEater[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Hey, not a problem! I enjoy seeing the discussions here and thank you for your contributions as well!

Yes, I'm not a fan of the word "queer", it used to be used as an insult towards us. In school, I was called other derogatory terms such as f*ggot and tr*nny. I don't know why they want to revive a terrible word.

I've met some old school bisexuals that are completely unaware of the "queer", culture--lucky them! But...they had their own issues(e.g. drugs. )

I found it interesting that the Super Movement lasted as long as it did on reddit and curated a LOT of attention and members! They weren't even mean about not being attracted to trans people. They called trans people like Blaire White allies.

Personally, I'm not attracted to trans people but if others are than that's fine--as long as I don't get called a "transphobic bigot". I can sympathize a bit with regular trans/transmedicalist people since I used to be one until I detransitioned. I know there's some people who wouldn't want to date bisexuals either, and I'm not offended at all. I tell the people I date beforehand that I am so they're not caught by surprise.

It's true that there is a lot of support from bisexual people towards TRA. Tbh, I think bisexuals are also the backbone of the LGBTQ+ in general. I posted a video earlier about "Leave out the B" or something or other from BisexualRealTalk YouTube Channel---and basically this bi guy was stating how we're the majority from the group but have the LEAST amount of resources. We're always supporting other people instead of each other. Hardly any media, or entertainment and I have yet to hear of a "bisexual bar".

I can relate COMPLETELY with thinking I was a bisexual lesbian for the longest time!! I envied men and wanted to be like them, while I ONLY had attraction towards women since grade school. So, I thought in order to be "normal", I had to transition. I agree with you that in order to be bi, one most be attracted to both men and women. That's it, that's the ONLY requirement. I found out later in life that I liked men after nearly two decades of liking only women and thinking I was asexual at one point(it was due to depression, found nobody attractive lol).

Your good haha, I enjoy seeing comments like these! I tend to ramble a lot too, so sometimes what I wrote may be a bit incoherent.

Ah, I forgot to mention within my rambling---I feel mostly positive about the SuperBi movement but ..It feels too young for me...I cannot relate to them very well with their "Hecking valid uwu" types of posts and their...furries...I joined their SuperStraight discord channel and it was awkward. I don't normally use platforms like discord, but using it to talk to a friend.

Edit: Word lmao

5 Bisexual People Explain What 'Bisexual' Means to Them by PeakingPeachEater in Bisexuals

[–]PeakingPeachEater[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Right? I'm getting tired of these fools making us look bad.

I remember back in the day, people would try to avoid the label "bisexual" because they didn't want to seem trendy. There was this girl in my middle school thru highschool who called herself a "lesbian" yet dated more boys than girls(she had ONE girlfriend she dated on and off). People really wanted to avoid the term bisexual back then.

Nowadays it's a mix bag of "queer" bisexuals, with normal bisexuals going underground so we don't associate ourselves with them---but in the end it just makes us look bad...

I liked Saidit, because all are welcomed here, no matter the views.

I would say either keep pushing those social media platforms and make accounts/voice your opinions regardless of what Reddit/Twitter/FB etc may do(ex. Ban you, remove your posts, etc) OR you can use alternatives to it.

Instead of Reddit, use Saidit. Instead of Twitter, use Parler. Instead of Facebook use Friendica or Mastodon. These are open source alternatives and freedom of speech(at least with Parler it is, I'm not sure of Friendica or Mastodon).

I do agree that it's frustrating and stupid in the first place that we're forced to use alternatives, but I'm glad I don't give them my support for their crooked rules/policies.

Edit: Nevermind on Parler, it sounds like they're basically like Twitter with censoring except it's right leaning whereas Twitter is left leaning. Neither are neutral, and I don't like that.

One of the people there was "Billboard Chris," the straight man who got beaten up on the street by trans rights activists for wearing signs acknowledging the reality of biological sex. Footage of that (warning: violent): https://mobile.twitter.com/christophelston/status/1380303323073372164

It's funny that the hecklers are calling Billboard Chris an "asshole" and telling him to "get the fuck out" when they're the ones being assholes and attacking him...for standing up against using dangerous drugs on children that have permanent affects on them.

Hey Canadian saidittors...What is your perspective on this? Also, how are people reacting over there? I have uncle who migrate there and I would ask him but eh we don't talk about...these kinds of politics. Plus my relatives are either very left leaning or very right leaning with no in-between. I have american relatives that think "Latinx" is légitiment as well as "pansexuality" and other hippy crap as well as a trans male cousin...whereas the relatives back home think homosexuality is a sin and they probably won't know much difference between the T and LGB. . . My mother doesn't. Glad my brothers are slowly turning non-religious lol. Just one left that's religious but I digress.

[Bi-Cycle] How does your attraction compare with men vs women? by PeakingPeachEater in Bisexuals

[–]PeakingPeachEater[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

To be honest though, I like the IDEA of men much more than I actually like THEM, if that makes any sense. All the things I described are appealing until I actually have to experience them for a prolonged period of time. Without fail, I eventually lose physical attraction and their personalities become a chore to deal with.

Holy moly I can relate to that! I think...for me it's because I'm envious of men? Idk, I'm detrans and GNC if that matters haha. And...And this is probably going to sound sexist/misandrist and idk how else to word it but I think with women it's a bit more simpler and no issues with power dynamics(I wonder if bi men feel the same but about men feeling more simple than women)? In an opposite sex relationship, sometimes there's an annoying "box" they try to put you in when you don't really fit there...from what I've experienced dating men/opposite sex.

4) How often do you have a "bi-cycle"?

I don't date anymore or really feel much attraction to anyone these days, but in the past, I'd guesstimate every 4-5 years.

5) Do you lean towards opposite sex, same sex or is it equal attraction?

Again, not feeling much attraction anymore, but in the past, it was equal.

Same, same. Not feeling much for anyone--not even celebrity crushes haha. But...I don't really have celebrity crushes? Like, I can see that they're attractive but it's not a "WOWEE HOT DAMN" it's just a "Oh, he/she is cute. Ok." I wonder if COVID is partial to blame? Heh.

Edit: redacted info lol.

Was wondering if there was an FAQ or Wiki for this subsaidit?

I am new here, and would like to know both the GC & QT side/arguments and so I do not repeat previous questions already inquired.

Edit: Hey mods, I think it would be cool if both the GC mods and QT mods could sticky a post or 2 separate posts explaining GC and QT to noobs like me, then maybe have another post stickied asking "Why are you GC or QT?" Then we can see people's background on it. Or maybe even post the rules in a stickied post and condense the sidebar to something like this:

1) Be Civil/Courteous: No sexist, racist, ad hominems etc

2) Disallowed language: You cannot use XYZ, etc etc. Allowed terms are ABC etc etc

3) Misgendering: explain terms here

I had a hard time answering this prompt tbh, I didn't know how to be unbias---my bias seeped through haha. I just kinda wanna save people the heartache I faced...I used to get called a "faggot" and a "tranny" in school because some couldn't tell what I was. They thought I was an effeminate boy when really I was a "tomboy" girl. (I'm not a fan of using the word "tomboy" but using it here for this case). My early teens I went the opposite direction and dressed EXTREMELY feminine after to avoid being bullied and to attract opposite sex but didn't really feel comfortable...Then early 20s went back to dressing mostly masculine and chopped my hair short and people thought I was a boy all over again and it felt awkward(since I was detransitioned...). Lol.

Anyways....I'm rambling again hahaha. It took my many years to finally come to terms with myself. And I hope those who are questioning really reflect on what they would like to do because surgery/hormones are permenant and I knew if I went that path I would hate myself and wish I would die. I suggest therapy for them and self reflection like I did.

[Bi-Cycle] How does your attraction compare with men vs women? by PeakingPeachEater in Bisexuals

[–]PeakingPeachEater[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Here are my answers:

1) What are some things (physical or personality) you like in women but not men? And vice-versa: What are some things (physical or personality) you like in men but not women?

Physically:

Hair: I don't know if I'm going thru a phase, but I like long-medium haired men whereas I like medium- short haired women because it's out of the norm.

Men: masculine, facial hair, trimmed or shaved armpit hair and other...hair.

Women: feminine, trimmed or shaved armpit hair(I actually was smitten over this feminine girl I met in my younger years who happened to have armpit hair) and other hair...

So I guess the major difference is just feminine vs masculine.

If you really want a TMI answer...lol nvm. Im not going there. Hahaha

2) Are there similarities in what you like in both?

Personality/Interests:

  • Somebody who's active/fit and would like to workout with me lol. But also play videogames with me as well.

  • I love cooking with partners too, so if they don't mind that that's a bonus.

  • Also, I don't know why but in both men & women, I tend to date someone either my height or shorter than me.

  • Somebody who doesn't drink.

  • A nice ass

3) How often do you have a "bi-cycle"? Do you lean towards opposite sex, same sex or is it equal attraction?

Uh...I can't really say anymore about the bicycle. I'm a bit apathetic at the moment. TMI but my monthly cycle would affect it sometimes but now it doesn't/has not.

I've flipped flopped my attraction between men & women in the past like night and day but right now... I'm not so sure so I guess equal.

Bonus:

  • Any additional thoughts?

None at the moment, I kinda wish I did the questions a bit differently haha. After I answered them I grouped up similar questions so it's not super redundant.

[Cross-Post] What would a relationship between two bisexual people be called? by PeakingPeachEater in Bisexuals

[–]PeakingPeachEater[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've been wondering--- is it offensive in English to say "same-sex"? I see in DroptheT that some don't like it and say it reminds them of church/religious context? But I learnt it that way so I do not know.

I agree with you though in using same-sex & opposite sex to describe it.

Ahhh I forgot about MLM & WLW that works too! I guess it depends on context? I usually see MLM and WLM in a dating website context? I am not sure. Oh lol maybe I am thinking of M4M or W4W?? Same thing?

True, calling it a "straight" relationship or "gay relationship" isn't correct, I think people who use it are using it extremely colloquial. I know straight people who consider a bi person in a relationship with same sex to be in a "lesbian" or "gay" relationship in their eyes.

[–]PeakingPeachEater[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly!! Idk why they make it so complicated. It doesn't make sense to call it bisexual relationship...It sounds clunky.

If they really want to be "technically" correct, they can say "same-sex" or "opposite-sex" relationship.

I see "gay relationship" and "straight relationship" as a colloquial way of saying the above.

[–]PeakingPeachEater 7 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

First, how can non-binaries even CLAIM to be lesbian or gay if they claim to be "sexless", oh my bad "genderless". You have to be a biological female person who is sexually attracted to biological female people to be a lesbian woman or a biological male person who is sexually attracted to biological male people to be a gay man.

Also, non-binary people can't claim to be bisexual either, once again, since they're "sexless/genderless" and also wouldn't that make them discriminatory against oneself because bisexuality runs on a BINARY of TWO SEX ATTRACTION.

So...in other words...They can either be lame and use their other made up words like "pansexual", "omnisexual", etc since they clearly can't be LGB by their own definition or they can admit that biology is real and they are actually just straight people trying to be cool.

So...these clowns just base it off of personality traits? So if I understood right, this girl says she has a "boyish" personality but still dresses like a...girl so that makes her a gEnDeRqUeEr transmasc?

I'm sad that transmasc/transfemme is even a thing...it's just so pointless. Basically a clown womanchild or clown manchild is all it means.

I wish they would leave the LGB already and stop making us look bad.

Isn't Ell Page a "non-binary transgender" too or something like that or just trans??? I'm surprised she got the double-mastectomy...that made me disappointed. Some people don't have a choice and HAVE to get mastectomy due to cancer or other illnesses...

Yeah, I haven't seen or heard of any other non-binary people get surgery. For them really, all they're trying to do is dress androgynous. Honestly, non-binary people are the "woke" version of gender nonconforming people. The only difference is that GNC people like me aren't trying hard for woke points or trying hard in general to appear how we do. We just are who we are. I miss old school GNC like David Bowie, Prince, and Boy George (except he ended up being a creep...)

All: If you had to lead a trans support group, how would you do it? by Fleurista in GCdebatesQT

[–]PeakingPeachEater 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Also, u/HousePlant has a really good answer on what she would do if she had a trans support group. I'm not for transitioning either, but would have to be unbiased in this situation as much as possible.

What does "transmasc" or "transfem" even mean??

"Genderqueer transmasc" is supposed to mean what??

Can someone help decipher clown-speak 🤡 for me please?

Also, what the hell is a non-binary transgender person mean?? I've heard of it before but don't understand it...Does it mean they transition to appear as opposite sex but are...gender...nonconforming in their eyes? (Aka, a man who gets boob and neo-vagina surgery, but dresses like a...man??? Or is a just a NotLikeOtherBoys™ type of person?)
