Oh yes, all those gay guys (totally gay, hon... dude, I swear) falling all over themselves to smash pussy. As long as there's a scraggly beard and butch mastectomy scars on the chest, it's completely gay to stick a dick into vagina and these men are absolutely not just telling you what you want to hear. 🙄

Also: Any bets on what percentage of sexual encounters claimed in those answers is fictional? 70%?

The lack of backbone on people is sometimes amazing. Admittedly that's easy to say when it's not your life blowing up around you, but I think at least some of these "midlife-crisis-trans"-disasters could definitely be avoided if the partner put his or her foot down from the beginning.

"No. Just no. If you want to be a woman, Stan, fine. But you'll have to do it without me, because I will be filing for divorce. You have until the end of the week to decide or I am going to look for an attorney. And you are sleeping on the couch for now."

homosexuality was considered a mental illness and it was not that long ago that it was removed from the DSM.

I've found a useful shorthand for whether a condition is an illness or not is the question whether it needs treatment. Does being gay degrade your quality of life (in and of itself, disregarding societal pressures)? No, it does not, therefore it needs no treatment, therefore it's not an illness.

Discounting the transtrenders, trans people have or at least claim gender dysphoria. They 'can't live with their body' and need or want treatment. So it's an illness, because in untreated form it (by itself) negatively trans people's quality of life.

You can't say "I need surgical intervention and permanent hormone treatments to live my life" and in the same breath claim that you don't suffer from an illness.

It's not going to get banned. It's too large and well-known for that to happen. Instead it'll go private for half a day and then return with new moderators (probably from r/gaybros, r/askgaymen or r/askgaybrosOver30) who'll promise to "continue to foster the positive aspects of this sub but we are going to take a more pro-active stance against trolls and hate speech".

And from then on replying "No, of course not, I'm gay" to an FTM's "will you fuck me?" will be a bannable offense.

I honestly love it, when they try to make claims in that direction. Because then you can call them out for thinking that penis in vagina can ever be gay or lesbian sex. It exposes their argument for the fallacious drivel it is, because everybody - whether they admit it or not - grasps on an instinctual, visceral level that penis in vagina is never and can never be gay sex. Sometimes it helps to bring the discussion back to reality by painting a graphic picture in people's minds.

The whole up-/downvote ratios in that thread are interesting. Comments critical of the linked article (which is the usual coercive cotton ceiling crap) are carefully worded, but by actual lesbians and mostly upvoted. Comments praising the article are mostly downvoted. Overall it seems a vast majority of comments are by "woe is me"-transbians and even they seem to notice the incongruity of vote behavior and tone of comments:

"I love how threads like these really show how many lurking terfs there are ready to downvote and bully the trans perspective off the sub"

Of course, they don't have enough self-awareness to realize that by policing people's speech until the sub is on the verge of newspeak, they have driven the silent majority into the anonymity of voting.

Take /askgaymen for example: You are still allowed to say you wouldn't have sex with a trans man. You are even allowed to say that you would never have sex with a trans man. But you are not allowed to say anything that invalidates a trans man's identity or would imply that he isn't a real boy.

"I would never sleep with a trans man because I am exclusively same-sex attracted." => Begrudgingly tolerated, because they haven't figured out how to ban it yet

"I would never sleep with a trans man because I am gay." => Deleted/banhammered, because it implies FTMs are not men

And now these people, who have only visited subs that enforce this sophistry to the detriment of actual gay people, come into a sub where it is completely acceptable to say that you won't sleep with trans men because they are not men. Imagine the shock!

If you follow an argument on a sub thread long enough, you'll often see some variant of this exchange:

[Gay man]: "No, I am not going to sleep with a trans man, because he is not a biological man."

[TRA]: "So, what you are saying is that you don't think a trans man is a real man?" (translation: 'Haha, now I got you!')

[Gay man]: "Yes, that is exactly what I am saying."

[TRA]: surprised Pikachu face

They simply aren't equipped (anymore) to handle this. They are accustomed to having the other person banned if he or she says they don't really consider TWAW or TMAM to be statements of truth.

Can they not hear themselves?

A question I have often asked myself the last few years. And I have come to the following conclusion:

Yes, yes they do. And they have absolutely no problem with it. Because, you see, unlike "those bad people" they are doing it for a good(tm) cause. And they are willing to sacrifice gay men and lesbians for it.

There's also a whole host of FTMs jumping around that thread lecturing gay men on how they are doing this "gay thing" wrong. And defending not disclosing trans status until the pants come off.

It's simple common sense to separate bathrooms for teenagers (you know, the people with the raging hormones, questionable judgement and lack of life experience).

Well, truscum are the original trans people, the ones wo say you actually need to have gender dysphoria in order to be trans. (We called these people transsexuals in the 1990s and 2000s.)

Transtrenders and AGPs probably hate them as much as they hate T*RFs.

Edit: Clarified.

Yes, looking at the way this was posted over half of reddit, this might be a troll.

The replies in r/asktransgender prove however that they are not too far off from the mainstream thinking there.

It's probably an almost harmless post in the grand scheme of trans things, but a few things still irk me:

a) The obvious 'please tell me gay guys will be interested anyway'-undertone.

b) Even though I am effectively a straight woman, I will refuse to date any straight man, because that would be 'invalidating'.

c) "But my chest isn't even that big!"

Also obligatory 'gay men are transphobic!'-replies in the thread.

Was anyone else here a supporter of trans rights, until they went too far and started demanding unquestioning compliance from every corner of society? by ukrdude10 in LGBDropTheT

[–]ThrowMeAway2879 26 insightful - 1 fun26 insightful - 0 fun27 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I was a supporter of trans rights, mostly unquestioning. TWAW and TMAM just seemed like innocuous social support statements.

My support for the TQ+ ended somewhere around 2015 when the Emmerich movie 'Stonewall' was released and the TQ+ absolutely destroyed it with their false "it was a trans woman that threw the first stone!"-narrative. You didn't even have to like the movie (Emmerich isn't really a character-driven director and probably wasn't the best man for the job), but the misinformation campaign was so blatant, disingenuous and honestly hostile to gay men and lesbians, that it was an eye-opener. They'd rather destroy a fairly innocent movie about a landmark gay event, directed by an A-list director, produced by an A-list movie company, marketed to the mass audience, than to let go of their trans-washing of history. It galled me.

Around the same time the "It's not transphobic to not date trans people, BUT..."-argument started popping up around the internet and it was then that I was just done.

Translating from trans-speak: Original poster of the subthread catfished the guy with very flattering pictures or some such (or by not using pictures at all). Guy is polite on the date even though a woman showed up instead of the hunk he expected. He is obviously not interested in anything further and ghosts her after. Worst sin: when "confronted", he tells the truth.

I have a feeling it'll all swing far to the other side, the pendelum has gone too far left.

That's the problem. The pendulum will swing back, it always does, the only questions are: how far and who will it knock over when it does? Just the crazy TRA-fringe? Run-of-the-mill trans persons minding their own business? LGBT+-organizations? LGB-organizations? Gay men? Lesbians?

Keep in mind, to the general public with its varying levels of ignorance or disinterest in the nitty gritty of gay life, we are collectively just 'the alphabet people'. If somehow the majority gets it into their heads that 'the alphabet people' have gone too far, or worse, perceive us collectively as dangerous, they won't bother to distinguish between the LGB and the TQ+. They'll elect some fanatic who'll promise to 'put a stop to this' and that fanatic will hate LGB as much, if not more than the TQ+.

I sincerely hope that I am too pessimistic, but these attempts at policing people's dating life and redefining sexualities are to me akin to someone poking the dragon. And it's not certain that next time that dragon wakes in earnest we get 'super gay' alongside 'super straight'.

Exactly. It's another thing that wouldn't fly for any other crazy ideology. People fight (or have to fight) back against nazis, religious extremists, communists before they get into power. But with TRA's "same sex attraction is immoral and you shouldn't say you are not attracted to trans people" we are supposed to grin and bear it because there are no trans rape gangs marauding in the streets.

You know, I don't want to wait until every other gay kid gets 'cured' of his or her 'affliction' by gender surgery until I say something.
