They're attempting to make sexual orientation (seem like) a choice and something we can opt in or out of. Therefore we are "choosing" not to date trans people and because it is a conscious choice, we're bigots/transphobes/literal shit.

The new LGBT platform is not "born this way," anymore. We're facing a new homophobia from inside the community now.

Queer is on its own special platform I think. I'm SO FUCKING TIRED of it being used as a personality trait for straight people who feel like they're boring and passé and can't be bothered to pick up an unusual hobby instead. I'm so tired of seeing straight people say it to describe the gay community like it never meant anything else. Like it was never said while beating a gay man to death. But whatever.

I’ve literally never seen any of this terf vs queer drama IRL. It’s entirely online...

Someone said this and I always wonder where people are able to totally avoid the queer bullshit in real life. I'm not a very social person, I'm not in any way active in the LGBT community, yet I and my girlfriend have been exposed to the "fuck TERFs" and "cis lesbians are shit" and "hearts not parts" rhetoric from people we know. We drive down town and what was supposed to be murals for the black community has way too many trans ones to ignore. We don't go to anything LGB related because we learned quickly it's overrun by trans and every combination of straight queer you can imagine.

It's of course not an every day occurrence but it's there.

This idea is a thing already and they say then that bisexuality is transphobic because it invalidates trans people by not including them.

The flip side of the coin also happens, where pansexuality is considered transphobic because it suggests trans people are "not really the gender they identify as," meaning bisexual should be good enough of a descriptor.

I did feel that way, actually. When I first came out 5 years ago and all of this queer shit was really gaining steam, I felt judged and inadequate because I don't "look gay." For me it was easy to fall into that insecurity because I don't have any lesbian or gay friends so I sought out LGBT forums online and we all know how AL is.

After a year or two that feeling went away after I realized that the idea of having to "look gay" came from teenagers/young adults, the internet, and straight people who feel boring. I'm a lesbian simply because I am and not because of how I look or how I talk or how many rainbow items I own or anything insignificant like that.

Makes me think of a friend of a friend who's a trans man. She came out randomly one day, asked to be called Felix. A couple weeks later she was at our mutual friend's house warming party and some guy bumped into her and she was like "You hit me in my dick, bro."

She's living her best straight girl life as a gay man now.

They don't see it that way, obviously. They believe trans women are women, so of course they belong in womens' spaces, movements, thoughts, etc. They see us the same way people see homophobes or racists. I don't think the majority believe there's some kind of payout for themselves other than their belief that they are morally correct.

[–]Poppy29252 18 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 0 fun19 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't think any slur can ever truly be reclaimed. For an individual it could, sure, maybe that person loves that word or is comfortable using it.

But if another person can still use that slur to degrade or dehumanize people, it's always going to be just that - a slur, not an identity.

Are there inherent issues? No.

When they're used to convince people to bend their sexuality for another's pleasure or that "______ is exactly like a woman/man's _______!” then it becomes part of a homophobic, manipulative, sexually abusive mindset.

A penis isn't female. A penis isn't a clitoris. A vagina isn't male. An anus on the sex you are not attracted to isn't something you have to settle for.

They're all convinced stereotypes define them. They don't like frilly pink dresses and ponies? Must not be a woman. They don't believe being a woman is simply the existence of having been born female and growing up into adulthood. They let society dictate their lives. That's why they're miserable and need others to validate them. Society rules their existence to the point they feel like their existence is erased when we don't go along with their feelings.

If they lack cognitive ability to identify out of their "assigned sex," how could they still identify as their own sex?

I don't feel like I'm a woman anymore than I feel like I have green eyes or black hair. I just exist this way.

Identity is created by the brain. Brains are biological constructs. Thus, trans men are "biological men" because their biological brains identify them as men.

If our thoughts altered material reality, there would be no trans people because their brains would have instantly turned them into the sex they wish they were.

Also, Santa would exist. 🤘🎅

I think the concept of identifying into a group to make yourself seem less mainstream/majority or to make others perceive you as "less boring" is definitely a thing.

I've watched this slowly over the years with one of friends who I've distanced myself from because of her bullshit antics. She's a straight, middle class, white girl. She's just average and that's ok. But years ago she started doing drag (performing as a drag king), goes to pride in rainbow outfits, has rainbow tattoos, talks about being "technically bi," and even came out as a lesbian for a month until conceding that she was just a confused demisexual bisexual. Used to call herself greysexual. She spends a lot of time online.

Never dated a woman. Never touched a woman. Never talks about women. Never shows desire for women. Talks about dick. Talks about men. Asked random men on Facebook to be her baby daddy. Only dates men. Mostly she just posts bisexual related memes on Facebook and collects LGBT friends to seemingly give her clout.

I'm sure when pressed about it they'll say they aren't biologically female but we all know they believe "woman" is a social construct and dependent on how you identify and therefore trans women are women. So to them, yes, they are "real" women.
