Ah yes, a bunch of pseudo-scientists claiming it's "genetic". Flat earthers have links and "sources" too.

There is a confusion between correlation and "causation" in all the links I bet, as always.

Save that breath. Noone needs "counter-evidence" when you got none. And noone definitely needs evidence for disbelief in your "hypothesis".

False equivalence. That's like saying cheating, therefore emotionally "hurting" someone, is not immoral because there are homophobes who are emotionally "hurt" there are gay people and it's not immoral for gay people to exist.

You fail to understand. The issue is not you simply existing, it's you 1- thinking you're a sex you're not, 2- not correcting someone who uses she/her pronouns and falsely thinks you're a woman, in front of you. You let them stay misinformed, eventhough you can change that and correct them, which means you are lying to them, not merely existing, and that's immoral.

Funny you bring up gay people and "existence uwu" too. Where have I seen this before. Ah, when I interacted with anyone who thought they are "trans". You "trans" keep showing how homophobic you are again and again.

Anyways, didn't expect much from talking to someone who thinks they are "trans". Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

There are multiple forms of "harm", emotional and physical. E.g. when someone cheats on someone else and they realize this after just a few days of dating their partner, they are not physically "harmed", but they are "harmed" emotionally. If you said the same, that cheating in this case is not immoral, I would have called it nonsense.

Similarly, not telling someone (even a stranger) one's actual sex, when one knows the stranger is mistaken about their sex, is immoral as that would be lying. They might not be physically "hurt", but they would be emotionally once they realize you let them stay incorrect eventhough you could change that. I believe you don't get to lie to a stranger, just because they are a stranger.

It seems you follow a different "view" and don't want to take responsibility for your actions as long as they do not physically "harm" someone. Your "view" makes lying not immoral, and I do not agree with that.

Agree with u/LoveSloane if they said that they'd feel deceived.

Depends on what moral view one adheres to. According to consequentialism, if you're a man who "passes as" a woman, and I use "she" to refer to you and you do not correct me, you may think it's a "non-action", but it is an action within itself you take to withhold information from someone who is mistaken, eventhough you can change that, which is immoral. Like the trolley problem, if you witness 5 people about to be run over by a train and you don't pull the lever so it hits the one individual on the other track, it's not a "non-action" but an action within itself and you'd be immoral for doing so. While if you're not in the scene and don't know about the train, it wouldn't be immoral not to do anything. Which in this case means if someone thinks you are a sex you're not, and you don't know about them being mistaken like this, it's fine not to correct them. It's simple.

I don't care what you think is "invasive". If someone demanded I tell them what sex I am, or show them my medical history, I would tell and show them. That information is important, especially when it comes to friendships/relationships.

It's a matter of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Asking for my medical history and what sex I actually am is not invasive, and I'm expecting the same thing from everyone else.

I believe you don't get to make people think you're a sex you're not, when you can correct them. It's gross. And that's all there is to it.

Trans people don’t see themselves as deceiving anyone even if you do.

Because they are mentally ill, and don't see reality for what it is. They think they are a sex they are not, of course they wouldn't think they are deceiving anyone, eventhough they are actually doing that.

I hate skirts and dresses. Only wear pants and with my short hair, if someone thought I'm a man, I would correct them, that I'm a woman so they don't feel like they've been deceived. "GNC" people who do understand they are their sex (and that will never change no matter how much they cut their body parts) don't have to do anything to "pass as" their sex, because there is no such a thing. One is either a sex or they are not. No amount of so called "passing as" would change that.

I'm talking about people who think they are "trans". A woman who thinks she's a man and "passes as" a man without much effort would never correct someone who falsely thinks she's a "man", she'd let them be incorrect even after knowing they are mistaken, because it "validates" her fee fees that "omg I'm a man uwu". Same for a man who thinks he is a woman and "passes as" a woman without much effort. That's why I have no respect for such individuals. They are liars and deceivers.

By the way, I fail to understand why I'm getting answers from non-GCs here, eventhough the questions were clearly towards GCs.

If they "pass", and later I realize that so called "man" is actually a woman and that so called "woman" is actually a man, I would feel lied to. The men who think they are women and do everything to "pass as" a woman, and the women who think they are men and do everything to "pass as" a man are lying to everyone around them, and I have no respect for them, nor would I use their preferred pronouns, ever, even if they send me to jail for it. They actually gross me out, just like when someone tries hard to look like someone else via extreme face surgery. I would feel grossed out by that individual, and that's how I feel when I see a man "passing as" a woman and a woman "passing as" a man.

If GC use their preferred pronouns as long as they "pass", then glad I'm not GC I guess.

Omg thank you! You're so cute too 🥺

And yep! I've learned from watching other relationships that being in a relationship is not the solution to all of one's problems. None of the issues miraculously disappear the minute someone meets their partner.

So it's definitely best to work on myself (e.g. boost my mental health). I don't want to drag someone into my mess and leave her miserable.

You and u/VioletRemi literally give me hope that my introverted heart can finally find someone one day though. May your love continue to stay strong!

I can feel how hard it is for you :( I haven't ever been in a relationship myself because socialization drains me (I can manage online interactions more than the ones in reality) and I'm never able to take good care of myself let alone a relationship. But I've learned a few things about it watching other relationships, so my advice to you and u/VioletRemi would be not to give up on your love for each other. View the distance between you as a learning journey, a test.

Instead of thinking that the long distance is pulling you two apart, believe that through this experience, you will be bound together even stronger.

You can use video chats to at the very least meet face to face too! I'm sure you will meet one day though. Fingers crossed wishes

P.S. my dms are always open if you want to vent about this to someone and need support!

You haven't responded to my question yet. Why should I be welcome in women's spaces when I sometimes stare at other women sexually in those spaces and can't help it, especially since I'm socially awkward? And don't care about what people consider "socially appropriate", since it varies from culture to culture and I'm so done with people telling me what to do and not to do just because they feel uncomfortable? Should you create a separate space called "for that inappropriate woman named tea only" just like we do for men? And if not, why not?

I-

I'm not making generalizations. I understand most lesbians do not stare at other women sexually in locker rooms, toilet facilities, etc. Why do you think I, I, should be allowed in women's spaces when unlike other lesbians I'm abnormal and sometimes stare at other women sexually in these places?

Though I think you have answered it. That me sexually looking at other women isn't similar to the predatory way men do.

Makes sense.

I don't stare too much by the way. My sex drive changes frequently, from feeling nothing to feeling too much all of a sudden. Most times, when I see other women anywhere, I don't feel anything. But there are these occasions I have a high sex drive and stare even if it's on the streets ...

It must be because I've never had sex? Not sure. I'm very introverted and socially awkward. Even talking to others is a hard task for me, that's why I've never even been in a relationship. 😅

GC: Is there such a thing as "transgender"? by Tea_Or_Coffee in GCdebatesQT

[–]Tea_Or_Coffee[S] 4 insightful - 5 fun4 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

I googled 'gender'. Google defines 'gender' as 'either of the two sexes (male and female), especially when considered with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones. The term is also used more broadly to denote a range of identities that do not correspond to established ideas of male and female'

Here 'gender' is defined as two completely different things. It can mean sex. It can mean social and cultural roles associated with one sex. Which is what trans right activists refer to when they use 'gender'. They believe there are certain roles given to one sex, and if a man participates in roles associated with women in a culture, he becomes socially/culturally a woman, while if a woman participates in roles associated with men in a culture, she becomes socially/culturally a man (thoughts?).

I don't see how this definition of 'gender' proves 'gender' is based on sex. It can be, but another definition of it separates it from sex, and refers to the stereotypes, and gender roles that GC fight against.

what is it that you think? Your personal opinion, not a collection of the opinions of people who desperately want things to be true that just aren’t.

Right now I'm leaning towards the view that 'there isn't a gender identity'. Though at first when I posted in this sub, I believed in 'gender identity'.

That doesn't mean I have no questions left. But I am thankful to you, u/MarkTwainiac u/BiologyIsReal u/SnowAssMan and everyone else I did not get to mention who tolerated me and answered my questions until now.

May I ask what your definition of 'gender' is and what you mean by 'gender is based on sex'?

I understand your other arguments, so I will try to answer these questions.

Answer, please:

a transwoman knows he’s a woman/has a female gender identity because he felt “out of place” in his body, is drawn to “feminine” things, and didn’t connect with what other boys/men tended to connect with?

another male who likes the same things as the first, but is “comfortable” with his body and his sex,

And also a female who feels “comfortable” with her body and sex, but just wasn’t interested in traditionally “feminine” things

Do they all have the same gender identity? Why or why not?

The common answer is they do not have the same 'gender identity'. A man who likes 'feminine' things and feels out of place in his body has a 'gender identity' that does not correspond with his sex.

But a man who likes 'feminine' things and feels comfortable in his own body would be 'cisgender' as his 'gender identity' corresponds with his sex.

The difference in 'gender identity' comes with comfort with one's own sex and body parts. If one feels distressed that they are a certain sex, they are said to have a different 'gender identity' than those who are comfortable with their sex - aka 'cisgenders'.

There are 'trans medicalists' who believe gender identity does not have anything to do with stereotypes, because a 'trans woman' can be 'masculine', and a 'trans man' can be 'feminine'.

Whenever I asked them 'what about someone who feels they are another race', they have said being a certain race is not genuinely distressing to someone, and noone is born with a brain that is similar to the brain of the race they identify with, while people who have 'gender dysphoria' genuinely feel distressed when it comes to their sex and body parts, and their brains are similar to the brains of the 'gender' they identify with.

What do you think of those claims?

You just keep mentioning what trans people think or mean-do you genuinely not understand that believing something doesn’t make that something true or even logical?

'X believes therefore it's true' is a fallacy, and you're right on that. I'm trying to figure out the errors in 'genderism' by sharing the beliefs of the 'trans' people I have seen so far.

I see. Trans right activists are very confusing. Underneath JK Rowling's tweets they would say 'gender' and 'sex' are separate. While in every other occasion they say 'sex does not exist', 'sex is a social construct', and 'sex is not binary and is a spectrum that can change'.

Which one is it? It seems even they don't know what they are talking about.

Thank you for the information by the way.

[–]Tea_Or_Coffee[S] 4 insightful - 5 fun4 insightful - 4 fun5 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

Men and women aren’t sexes. They’re the terms used to differentiate between adult humans of either sex.

I understand you. I meant man and woman are defined based on sex, and not gender. Man is 'an adult human male' and woman is 'an adult human female'. Meanwhile those who think they are 'trans' and can change 'gender' - e.g. change from 'man' to 'woman' - define man and woman based on gender - e.g. gender identity, clothing, 'passing as' the desired 'gender', etc.

Trans right activists do not see 'gender' and 'sex' as the same. They see them as separate.

That is why there are 'trans women' who say they are male, but are socially women because their gender, not their sex, is a woman. They define 'gender' based on gender identity, social roles associated with one sex, clothing, and changing body with hormones and surgery to 'pass as' the desired 'gender'.

Socially, yes -- if by "call" you mean "punitively misgender." That's a social convention.

Then everyone should socially call a man who identifies and passes as a woman a woman, or a woman who identifies and passes as a man a man because otherwise it would be rude, disrespectful and hateful?

Completely. It's a metaphysical argument.

No. It's still a metaphysical argument; we have no evidence that consciousness is "sexed."

I agree we have no evidence consciousness or brain is sexed, but if we have no evidence consciousness and brain are not sexed either, how do we move forward? We are stuck in the middle with no information.

A dangerous denial of science.

Can you elaborate more on this please? If you could, with analogies maybe?

What I mean by this is how come when a male can not produce sperm, and can not ejaculate, which means the testes and penis don't function properly, they are still testes and penis, but a neopenis is not a penis despite not functioning?

Hello (´▽`

  1. I will share with you the definitions trans right activists have told me, when they say a woman has a male brain they mean her brain is structured like the brain of a man, or when they say a man has a female brain they mean his brain is structured like the brain of a woman.

  2. "Secondary sex characteristics are secondary for a reason.", only primary sex characteristics determine sex?

3 & 4. So when the skin or tissue of somewhere is reconstructed to look like some part of the body, it's not really that part? Does this mean when I take the tissue or skin of my arm or somewhere and reconstruct it to shape it into something akin to an ear, it's not a real ear either? It's just reconstructed arm tissue or skin? Why is that?

It’s also sexist as fuck.

Can you explain why it's sexist?

Why should sex be determined by gametes of all things, and not genes, hair color, shape of nose, height, blood type, etc? Isn't that an arbitrary categorization? And how can sex be binary when there is variation (intersex), and the sex organs of females exist in males and vice versa? by Tea_Or_Coffee in GenderCriticalGuys

I dare you to go say that out loud to persons getting medical care at a VA hospital or a medical facility like the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC or the various Shriners Hospitals for Children in the US. Your views are beyond the pale. I am not engaging with you any further.

I'm trying to understand the position. It may be cruel, and that's why I look for justifications. 'Why is someone born without a leg, or someone that amputated a leg still a human despite not meeting the definition of human which is to be bipedal?'.

If I wanted to believe they are not human I wouldn't ask.

If vagina, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries are not genitals, then what are they? And in intersex cases where males have uteruses, fallopian tubes, ovaries, vaginas, etc, does it mean uterus, vagina, fallopian tubes, ovaries, etc are not female organs but organs that both male and female can have?

Scratches head

I see your point, what defines a human then? What is a human, a snake, a bear, a bacteria, or anything else. What defines them?

And how can we justify the categories when there is variation?

Say a human is defined as an organism with 2 legs, bipedalism is a requirement to be categorized as a human, and you have someone with human dna that has no legs, or amputated a leg (but what is human dna in the first place, when there are dna differences between humans themselves, what makes a human dna different from a snake, bear, bacteria, etc dna?). They are no longer bidepal, why would they still be considered human when they don't meet the definition of a human which is a bipedal organism?

They have underdeveloped female genitalia such as uterus, etc, why wouldn't that be considered as something wrong with their genitals? Is it right for a male to have female genitalia such as a uterus? I fail to understand why you don't want them to be called a disorder, do you think it's normal for a female to have underdeveloped testes, or for a male to have underdeveloped female genitalia and there's nothing wrong with those cases?

You seem to be avoiding the question. Again, why do you think scientists don't call legless humans snakes? What exactly do you think makes science not scratch its heads in confusion at snake-humans, or categorise any developmental disorder as new species? I want you to think long and hard about this and try to give me an answer that makes sense. I don't want to do it for you because I think this will be a good mental exercise for you.

It'd be incorrect to call someone legless a snake, because snakes have a few differences in their dna. But if bipedalism is a requirement for being a human, I don't see how someone born without a leg or someone who amputated a leg can be called a human, when they do not have two legs and do not meet the definition of a human?

If they are still considered a human because of their dna, then a human is not defined as an organism with two legs, it's the certain dna they have that defines a human? Defining a human as a bipedal organism excludes those that are born without a leg or have amputated a leg

I think the condition I meant is the Persistent Müllerian duct syndrome, where there's developed male genitalia and an underdeveloped uterus, vagina, etc. Would that not be considered a disorder?

For the definitions of male or female, when we ask what about someone that surgically removed their gonads, GCs argue they don't stop being male or female eventhough they don't produce gametes, just as someone doesn't stop being human if they amputate their leg.

But is a human defined by the number of legs, hands and fingers though? Are humans defined as a bipedal specie? If a human is defined as an organism with two legs, two hands and 5 fingers, why wouldn't it be correct to say someone born without a leg, or someone who amputated a leg is not a human? They don't meet the definition of human, or the requirement of which is to have exactly two legs, two hands, and 5 fingers

If a person amputates their legs, does that means they proved humans aren't bipedal? What if a person is born without legs? What if they're born with only one leg? If humans are defined by bipedalism, is a legless person a snake? Does this show human number of limbs is a spectrum? Does a person stop being human when they lie down and only become human when they're using their two legs? Does a person lying down lack legs, and are they consequently a new species?

Doesn't the word disorder of sexual development mean intersex conditions are disorders? Just specifically, of sexual development?

What do you think of cases where someone has an underdeveloped uterus, and a penis, or complete female genitalia and underdeveloped testes, or penis? Would those be disorders?

There are intersex people with underdeveloped uteruses, and penises. How is that not something wrong with their genitals?

If sex is defined by gametes, doesn't that essentially mean sex is reproduction? Because gametes are for reproduction, and if sex is defined by gametes, then it follows sex is reproduction?

You thought wrong.

How is intersex not a disorder when there is something wrong with the way their chromosomes, and genitals are? How do you define a disorder that intersex doesn't count as a disorder?

“If sex is defined as reproduction,”

It’s not

Then what is it defined as? If gametes, then gametes are for reproduction, so it would mean sex is defined as reproduction or the capability to reproduce?

“Is anyone that does not go doing things with the opposite sex disordered for going against their purpose and what they are meant for which is doing it with the opposite sex and reproduction?”

What the eff are you talking about?

Gametes, gonads, and genitals are meant for reproduction, their purpose is to reproduce, and if someone does not reproduce, or use those organs and gametes for reproduction, then they are going against the purpose of these organs and gametes, or what they are meant for. Would they be considered a disorder then? That's what I mean.

I can’t speak for intersex people but I don’t know many gc people who call them disordered. I’d consider them medical anomalies.

Aren't anormalies disorders? I thought GCs called intersex a disorder because something goes wrong with the sexual development ...

Not if they actually have a disorder. Using their disorder against them or to exclude them would be.

Then there is no issue with calling intersex a disorder?
