nah...I'm a teenager (19) and I did not like it. It was a cheesy movie with a predictable plotline. maybe if kstew's character would've broken up and gotten with the ex gf it might've possibly saved the movie. the whole scene where kstews gay guy friend tried to explain to her how hard it is to come out to family was bs in my opinion, it's a bad excuse for treating your gf terribly. I did not have an easy time coming out and I had to move out of my parents house at 18 and I lost a lot of friends. Yet I would never let my parents disapproval force a girl I'm dating to go back in the closet. if you're an adult and you don't rely on your parents you shouldn't let their opinion affect your partner to that degree, it's just unfair. either come out to your family or dont bring your gf to them for the holidays

19, NYC. My family knows, most of them disapprove of it, except for my sisters. And one of those sisters was originally very homophobic but I think shes coming around. I don't care what my parents think, my mom is a narcissist so she wouldn't love me even if I was straight so it's not like it's a loss.

edit: I'm not involved with her anymore, she cancelled on me for the second time, she was supposed to have a day off but her boss asked her to cover for someone, and apparently she doesn't know how to say no. I really wanted to see her but if she doesn't have time for me now she never will

[–]lmaonope333 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I generally dont trust men who complain about misandry, I've come to realize that 99 percent of men don't respect women or care about our safety, and if they seem like they care they're usually pretending. I don't wish harm upon men, I just dont think they're relevant to my life, and wish that they'd leave me alone. The few male friends that I do care about, proved their trustworthiness not by loudly proclaiming themselves as feminists, nor by complaining about misandry, but by simply being there for me and listening to my perspective. Based on the rest of your post it seems like your heart is in the right place, and if you do in fact care about female rights, I thank you for your support, however to me and many women, men complaining about misandry is a huge red flag

And I don't claim to know exactly how to accomplish that. Probably different methods depending on the conditions of each country. I believe in social justice causes like ending racism and sexism, and taking care of the planet, but I'm not a blue haired SJW, I don't believe that being a minority is a license to act crazy

I didn't need a beard, where I come from its so religious that girls weren't allowed to even be friends with boys, theyre expected to get married in their early 20s and the marriages are semi arranged. But thankfully I realized I'm a lesbian before anyone could pressure me into marriage

I'm more afraid of receiving calls than making calls. I dont mind receiving calls from close friends and siblings, but if it's from practically anyone else it freaks me out. I once tried to get a therapist and he called me a quite a few times, but I wasnt aware of it and told clinic that he didn't contact me. Phobia of phone calls is pretty common for people with trauma, and that's what I was seeking therapy for, so the fact that he didn't think of emailing me tipped me off that hes probably unqualified to treat me. Also the fact that I googled him and hes a a trans MtF who identifies as a butch lesbian, lol

agreed. drag would not exist if not for the oppression of women, so I dont know why they're considered the height of wokeness. not all parts of history need to be preserved

[–]lmaonope333 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I dont believe it's possible for everyone who is willing. Competent therapists are pretty hard to find if your issues are complex. Also, not everyone with emotional baggage treats romantic partners like shit. I know I don't. I'm just afraid of attracting narcissists and I dont trust people easily, so I avoid getting into serious relationships to begin with

I believe that true love exists, but not necessarily for everyone. Some of us are too emotionally damaged to form healthy and lasting romantic relationships

that's not true. there are women who do drag, and there were black people that did blackface. that doesnt make either of them ok as a concept, both were invented by the non minority in order to mock a caricatured version of a marginalized group, and just because a small number of member from a minority group participate in it for money it doesn't erase the negative affect that the (((art form))) has on the members of the minority

exactly. I'm attracted to bi women and I might date them, but it'd take longer for me to trust them. and I do strongly prefer lesbians

my given name is feminine and it's also hard for most people to pronounce so I shortened it and go by the first syllable which is a unisex name. my family still calls me by my given name and I dont really mind, it just bothers me when people completely butcher my name so it's easier to just go by a nickname. I don't think I'll be legally changing my name, it's not worth the hassle

imagine shaming lesbians for not caving to the pressure of heteronormativy. when I realized I was a lesbian I was super relieved that I'd never have to be with men, so I find it comical that I'm being villianized for it. of course I have nothing against women who slept with men before they realized they were lesbians. I'm just happy and grateful that i never had those horrible experiences and I wish no lesbians would ever be pressured into sleeping with men

god I could've wrote this post. in the community that I'm from, comp het was really strong so I thought I'd have to marry a man. I used to lie in bed at night and imagine what it would be like to have sex with a man, i always imagined I'd stay fully clothed and keep a full bush so that he wouldn't see my genitals, plus put a pillow in between his body and my body so that at least he wouldn't be able to touch my boobs. I used to lie in bed at night with those thoughts pretty often, and tense up my whole body especially my vagina. I'm pretty sure that's how I developed vaginismus

it was a relief to find out I'd never have to have sex with a man

I grew up in an insular community so it was pretty rare to find friends who were worldly. And we had a lot in common, personality wise. Shes willfully ignorant about sex and I'm pretty sure its because of some sort of past trauma but I always had plenty of things to talk to her about that dont involve sex/sexuality
