I had a boss who was afraid of phones. We had no air con for a week (working in a cafe) because he didn't want to make the damn call. His girlfriend had to do it.

I'm more afraid of receiving calls than making calls. I dont mind receiving calls from close friends and siblings, but if it's from practically anyone else it freaks me out. I once tried to get a therapist and he called me a quite a few times, but I wasnt aware of it and told clinic that he didn't contact me. Phobia of phone calls is pretty common for people with trauma, and that's what I was seeking therapy for, so the fact that he didn't think of emailing me tipped me off that hes probably unqualified to treat me. Also the fact that I googled him and hes a a trans MtF who identifies as a butch lesbian, lol

lol what that is a wild therapist story haha. Yeah I can see how receiving them would be worse... I guess it's like general social anxiety + unexpected situation, less control over the interaction etc. I haven't encountered a therapist who solely did phone calls, like most would call and email. what an odd guy!

it's not really social anxiety, its trauma which conditioned me to be constantly waiting for the second shoe to drop so if i get a phone call I panic because I assume they're calling with bad news
