They’ll wash their hands of any action targeting Rowling, insisting that it was the act of a mentally deranged individual that they cannot be accountable for--but, whose crime is at least understandable given her “transphobic diatribes” against the perpetually abused transgender community. And, if this strategy works for a demagogue like Trump, who also instigates multiple violent acts against his enemies, why not for this male cult.

I’m not always on board with Ali, but I am here, and do like her simple and direct statement... aw well as this response from Helen Joyce: “This piece is wonderful. As one of the other women who dares say similar things under my own name in public, I am truly grateful.”

I felt recovered enough to refuse and they thought it serious enough to advise treatment. It's impossible to fathom that choking is now a common form of male sexual pleasure, while the police are out driving choke victims to hospitals.

Also, one developed a certain effective posting rhythm over time which is missed. But this place is, I think, similar enough given its short time span. And in one way it is far superior, as far as this radical is concerned: it disallows down-voting, which means to me, that the twenty or so topics &/or positions I learned to avoid or needed to self-censor, I can speak out on here, and let what I said, stay without the public shaming. This, to me is the opposite of "seediness," or class.

Agreed! This treachery entered in the late 1970s, and has never stopped. I believe it arose because some feminists were just not willing to challenge men on their embedded sexual systems. This was going too far. But many of these critics did so silently, and simply continued with their feminist work, which did not include mention of porn or prostitution. But to others it was an all-out dirty war, with no manner of attack being too vicious and since many were artsy media darlings they got way more coverage than did the targets of their attack... and they received full support from the ACLU and the LGB coalition.

I cringe right off the bat by her addressing GC critics as “Ladies” and at her incredibly romanticized view of San Francisco (porn factories, sex positive, & super rich) as a bastion of civil liberties. As I read along (who can finish this supreme whitewash) what comes back to me like a bolt is the pro-sex movement which split the second wave. These women were also known feminists (most in the performance arts and/or journalists etc) and had names like Erika Lust, Annie Sprinkle, Pat(rick) Califia, or their own famed names like Gayle Rubin and Ellen Willis. But here instead of embracing pornographers and pimps, Solnit embraces men as representative women and feminists, praiseworthy gender rebels, and an even as a more oppressed wing of the category “women.”

So, if you don’t FEEL totally attuned to your sex, or to your “birth sex,” you’re a DEMIGIRL. Thus, girls are demigirls and boys are also demigirls.

Very convenient. Demigirl girls aren’t really female, but half female so cannot qualify as feminists. And demigirl boys can assume transgender status because aren’t male enough to be boys so must be the “weaker” sex.

This adds up to a lot more trans gals, and a lot more half gals... so a great reduction of real women, and actual feminists.

Sounds like an edict from the Emperor. It’s not only that “women” is verboten, but also “woman.” Most males have a hell of a time saying “women” and many of these have never said it and never will. But “woman” has always been ok even as representing the plural, because not associated with feminism, because feminists refer to each other in the plural as in “we women” or a collective.

TiMs also use the word “Womanhood” and “ladies” frequently because these are safely distant words belonging to another era when women were mere fixtures and far removed in time and place from today’s scary "terfs" and "transphobes."

To the men of the ‘trans woman’ movement, being a woman is a form of slum tourism (also known as ghetto tourism or poverty tourism): members of a more economically and sociopolitically powerful class satisfy morbid curiosity about how the less fortunate live. This allows the more privileged to gain relief from the boredom and rigid expectations of their humdrum lives, as well as from the self-doubts plaguing their sense of worthiness.

It’s really not much different than the West’s view of Islam. It’s called Orientalism, which is a form of colonization and cultural appropriation. It implies both exploitation and tourism or emotional distance from the lives being observed, collected, and raised up as trophies. The mystery of the Orient and Orientals, and plumbing the mystery of women. The eternal woman question, and the eternal Oriental question. Neither ever to be solved, of course.

The first reason this would work is that TiMs would be absolutely excluded--yes, excluded from each & every group. And that in itself would be a basic victory, a turning one’s back on transgender, and one that would initiate & inspire all other oppositional work as in sex trafficking, reproductive tech., prostitution & others. you mention. And it would mean community, connection, real actions in real places, having each others' back, and gaining tangible victories.

I could only watch about a quarter of this and not only because of the length but also because of a sense of tension & discomfort... not only between Rogan and Shrirer but between them and the T looming all about them. I mean how many times do you have to excuse yourself for your critique, and pledge your love for trans women. Not only did Shrirer premise all her remarks with this openness of heart for adult TiMs but a few minutes into it had to talk back herself after saying that it’s the adult trans women who are manipulating the youth... oh but only the political ones, not the ones she presumably still loves.

But Rogan himself is such a disturbing inconsistent mix of right and left, of racism and anti-racism, of sexism and anti-sexism, it’s almost impossible, even for someone as amenable (and I assume mostly liberal) and precise as Shrirer, to run his course for like 90 minutes. As important as this, and as important as the fallout might be, I couldn’t really tough it out.

One big reason there’s ever so much more kindness, praise, and well-wishes to offer than criticism is because the psychological hugely trumps the political in today’s relativistic culture, which makes pathos a far easier sell. And since trans is a superficial acting job, or con job, it has got the p-r routine perfectly down. We’re very pretty people and we’re very vulnerable people (21 dead) and without even having the downside of being female... and how can we be more worthy? "The more I think about liberal feminism, the more I realize that it is the opposite of feminism."

At one time, "feminist" mainly assumed "radical feminist." But at the end of the 1970's, the self-named feminist pro-sex movement split the second wave. After that, it was "what kind of feminist are you?" liberal? socialist? pro-sex? And then the liberals feminist began to become what "feminist" meant. So, a kind of reversal, which stands today, at least in terms of numbers and sheer public influence.

But men continue to shun the word "women" except when compelled by rare circumstance. (of course, we're leaving the countless list of derogatory epithets for women here)

As the second wave started to falter in the late 1970s, it came to be confused with the "sexual revolution" (the myth of women burning their bras, and being independent brassy and sexual) and then was split by the pro-sex movement which made the myth of the sexed woman revolutionary a reality. There were several known lesbians involved in this assault on the second wave and in the 1990s the s-m movement became almost synonymous with lesbian sex, and a small group of lesbians had to arise to counter male-centered objectifying sexuality (or today called sex-positive).

Since MtF trans is remarkably silent about the males who assault them, I doubt they'll go after pro-police guys (although it sounds like it was just one protester), but I also think they'll be unable to make the leap to GC critics here, because it's hard to imagine police patriots being influenced by feminists. But anyway this slur chant is what lesbians and gays have typically experienced throughout much of their history.

Slater and Gordon employment lawyer Danielle Parsons said: “It is categorically wrong for a manager or anyone in a position of power to suggest, even politely, for a woman to be more sexually appealing in the workplace.... This is a powerful form of coercion which makes women feel as if they must adhere to the manager’s request and be more visually pleasing to be successful at their job. This is demeaning to women.

It seems like all the headlines of late referring to sexual harassment in the workplace--Washington Redskins, NY Giants etc, has like no impact at all in the equivalent bosses in other businesses. It’s almost like today’s news is old or no news a couple days later when it comes to sexist coverage.

But the real story here is that even working at home (possibly the new normal) is no protection from being viewed as a sex object in your work environment. The bosses have found a way, not only for their women employees to be seen and judged, but also of insisting that their specific attention to dress, makeup &sexiness be understood as a job requirement.

The idea of post-feminism works because there are enough popularly known women, whether media celebrities or successful that the vast majority who still occupy the female ghetto get eclipsed. The ten top female job categories remain about the same as was true in the 1950s plus the "empowering" sexualization of girls, plus the new Gender Regime... thus the idea of post-feminism is no more than a p-r stunt, and a joke.

Because of the necessity to invoke biology as a primary argument vs trans, there's been an eclipse of the socially constructed principle that was so central to radical feminism. This is where sex expectations were roundly criticized, esp the feminization and sexualization of women (or gender). To counter this socialization of females by males was, in effect, a form of undermining the false distinctions and differences between men and women, upon which much of women's oppression is based. This goes much further than the concept of non-binary and is far more radical and effective. There can be no non-binary if women are liberated from their marked off, enemy status.

I'm just curious about her aversion to "wife," and you're mentioning the term "propose" a couple times. Was this meant to be an equal relationship? If so, why the "proposal" idea, which I assume means marriage. Is it possible she's opposed to being a "wife" in a marriage? Or that she's opposed to marriage just as millions of straight women are. Also, are you the one assumed to do the “proposing?” Or, could she have also done so all along?

None of this need be answered, of course. That said, the rest does seem to indicate a long relationship lost to the trans cult. Which can probably best be overcome by doubling down on the criticism of trans.--after or during a short or long recovery. And may that period be as brief as possible, because we all know what that’s like.

Hers is nothing more than anti-feminist, in-your-face propaganda. The “pro-sex” women leaders who ripped into the second wave, and split it in two, were all big name arts/performance women or feminist writers. Many were lesbians who knew exactly what they doing and who were taking their marching orders directly from the gay men who ran LGB, or were straight women taking their orders from the porn-is-free-speech ACLU.

The whole point of this is the spread outrageous misinformation and put radical feminists on the defensive. And by painting them as anti-prostitute, puritans, anti-sex, man-haters, and practitioners of vanilla sex, they assured the backing of with-it males, the hip, the sexually licensed, the porn business, liberals, sex liberals...

But it does seem certain that the Dem VP candidate will be a woman--as promised, which is a breakthrough (yes, with a lot of qualifiers)

What to eff is “the freedom to perform femininity?” Is this like the freedom to perform in black face, or red face? Is it the freedom to mock women?

What is “toxic masculinity?” Does this imply a sort of exemption card for men who don’t look like Hell’s Angels, but who participate just as fully in male dominance--sometimes as spies and eunuchs within feminism?

What are “femmes?” and “femboys?” Is there any connection at all between them and women? Are they more pro-women and anti-sexist than typical males? Are they “a powerful voice against TRAS?” Or on the contrary, do they represent nothing more than puffery, or a lighter forum of female ridicule?

In 1969-1979, the height of the second wave, radical feminism was the default--and it was well defined via principles to commit to. The default now is liberal feminism/stolen trans "feminism" and, more rarely, a partial radical feminism based in a few positions. So now rather than starting with radical feminism, the trick is to peak on everything that is not fully realized, in-person radical feminism, and return to 1970 which will not be the same, but can equally radical, in-person, and committed (to a wide set of similar principles).

[–]jkfinn 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don’t know... radical feminists have been under attack and dismissed by both the left and liberal feminists for being into identity politics and for wallowing in “victimization.” In other words, radical feminists are making things up, endlessly extending categories of female oppression, exaggerating afflictions, and insisting they be heard (in too much detail). The idea being that these women have lost their agency and independence by emphasizing women’s helplessness. But actually the truth is and was much closer to the reverse. Women’s victimization is real and there’s really no other word for it. What can be documented is documented and yet we know that this convincing evidence is, in most cases, just a tiny portion of what we don’t know, but can project. And there’s ample evidence that the women on the other end of this violence are much more likely to be those who deny victimization than those who acknowledge it. After all, it was radical feminists who initiated the marshal arts for women, title ix, physical strength etc ..

I think what you mention did happen on a few threads but r/gc did have many political stripes aboard, and I think radical feminists tend less to respond to calls for advice than the others.

The reason for "girly girls" is to split off young females from the old, gray, sexless, obsolete ones. When they do this they can call themselves "radical feminists" since they have no idea what it is. So, "femininity" is power, the power of sex appeal, and politics is a bore--and threatening to boot. It's an effective divide-and-conquer strategy employed by the male media. It always works like a charm--except in the early 1970s, perhaps.

Postmodernism is excellent for de-constructing and critiquing dominant power relationships and socially constructed inst.s and systems, but it went too far and too deep to the point of collapsing the ground beneath. It’s one thing to see hierarchy operative everywhere, and another to dismiss basic truths, objective criteria, and all certainties. This is the philosophical thought that Queer used to push its extremely relativistic and individualistic sexual views in the academy and out. Subjects (male) were to have full sexual license to enact any sexual expression on demand. And this included the right to sexual identities, the promotion of performative sex, and an expanding list transgressive sex acts centered around sado-masochism. And of course, LGBTQ made it an effective delivery system. It was almost entirely male in membership and its mainstream acceptance was never greater. So, Queer took hold and its first hook-up act was with transgender...

Given Jenna Ellis' lengthy assertiveness, I'll bet she's viewed at least a couple gc critiques. She also gives off an assurance and confidence that she is hardly alone in her stance--and that there's a smart world out there rooting her on (unlike in many other positions she has to speak for)

Are there such things as "femininity" and "masculinity" or are they just imaginary things humans made up? by Nohope in GenderCritical

Both "femininity" and "masculinity" are defined by males. However, "Femininity" is a target, not an assignment, meant to paint women as Other. What makes up "masculinity" are merely qualities of both division and unity or how hierarchy is determined within the male identity or male club. "Femininity" is how women are subordinated; "masculinity" is how superiority or dominance is realized at women's expense.

This is a liberal admission, but not a radical one. He makes all his points in the foreground, where he assumes the reader resides. I think what he’s doing is admitting all he can in order to hang on to what’s really essential to him--something he wants no one to question or take from him. But this idea that he can remove himself from the real world and be a woman only for himself is shortsighted. He may be viewed as a dissenter within trans, but within the scope of sexual politics, he is no dissenter, but a rather a proponent of gender. He doesn’t even begin to question gender itself, dysphoria, or his identity presumption, which may not be “I am a woman” but is “I pass as a woman because I feel like one,” any different in the final analysis? Once again the “not all trans men are...”

"Survivor" is to victim what "senior" is to old or what "passing" is to dying. Only worse, because "survivor" is more enforced, and covers up more.

Idea regarding removal of women's bathrooms in favor of unisex/men's by ghostprototype in GenderCritical

If it’s decided that this is a good form of protest, I would guess that the best way to do it might be in groups and not as individuals. Or perhaps women could occupy men’s rooms to make the point that women have no bathrooms of their own except these seized men’s rooms. Men would then have to use one of the mixed bathrooms.

Question: why are men more likely to commit crimes? by sosorreal in GenderCritical

No, nuttin to do with hormones. It’s called male supremacy, which is totally dependent on female inferiority. Men fight it out among themselves for dividing up this power they gain through forced & socialized female subordination. In other words, since male superiority is based on violence, its weapons are always at hand, less they lose it--or the practice of violence against females (or substitutes for) is how male identity is established.

"De-facing" a road. Are these people calling in the cops and turning the public into state snitches the same people who once condoned burning the flag. My how the tables are turned when you yourself become the mainstream. "Meet the new Boss, same as the old Boss."

More and more I see the term "Karen" being applied to men also, not in the "sissy" sense, but in the complainant, shrill, ball-buster sense.
