I praise J.K. Rowling for standing her ground. She is a hero of our times. She is not transphobic and neither am I. This fight to preserve the free exchange of ideas is worth having; to protect the hard-won rights of women but also to uphold the principles of our free society.

I’m not always on board with Ali, but I am here, and do like her simple and direct statement... aw well as this response from Helen Joyce: “This piece is wonderful. As one of the other women who dares say similar things under my own name in public, I am truly grateful.”

I'm LOVING all the positive comments!

I love how one of the first comments said "How dare you talk about what transphobia is when you're not trans you entitled cis person?" And the first reply is "Like the way entitled transwomen try to speak over women about their own experiences?"

They are so blind to their own transgressions. They're so "oppressed" that they can't see how entitled they actually are.

transgressions

That should be the title of a book documenting transwomen's sex offending.

It's amazing how they made up this category of 'cis' and then said cis are entitled people. It's insane. You can be 'entitled' on basically an infinite number of axes then. Don't have a chronic illness? Have both hands, both legs? Can see all colours? etc, etc, etc.

It’s “transphobic” to say that women are biologically different from trans women and that we might have different interests.

Therefore, that word has lost all meaning.

I was hoping she would say something. I love her books.

YES! I have been waiting for one of my old-timey heroes to step up. While I don't agree with everything she says (who would agree 100% with ANYONE, anyway?) she has been a big inspiration and I am so glad she has spoken out.

The user who replied with "JK Rowling sounds reasonable to you because you've never read the counter-arguments to her view" made an article where she didn't get at all the GC point of view. It's a bunch of nonsense just as you imagine.

It's so heartening to see all the positive comments, and the amounts of hearts those brave enough to speak out have gotten. Maybe more of us will get brave enough.
