I think it's a practical decision. Keeping men out would be near impossible. It's still a place where we can use clear language to fight back about men's bullshit. I bet they will bad the men if they try to take over.

I miss the old r/GC where women would be mean to men who came in to give their opinions on things that didn't concern them.

Remember rules are for rule-followers. Making the female only rule will keep rule following men out, and encourage lying men to lie.

I don't have any sense of Ovarit having any male problem--not right now. If anything, it's sometimes overly liberal feminist, and a little on the female ghetto side, esp some of the subs there. Try making a clearly radical feminist thoughtful remark--even as the first comment to a thread on some non GC sub, then check back later and don't be at all surprised if you've received ZERO upvotes. I once got three of these in a row--all to expressed thoughts I expected some discussion around. And it's not that I was the only respondent to any of those threads. It's rather that radical to many there is equivalent to extreme or hurtful or or angry or divisive--all liberal takes in these cases I refer to.

I've noticed this also. As my own taste runs sharp and Radical, I remember back to so many times men and, um, soft/lib women, changed entire groups and missions...

It's easy for liberals to do this because they're not viewed as an ideology or an organized sector, but rather as a large amorphous type body. One might look out for socialists or Marxists or various male formations to take over but liberals... 'no way.' Oh, and I wanted to add to my original comment that not even the OP (apparently) offers a single upvote--that is bad.

Most women go there because they are against the whole TIMs in women's spaces/sports. Radical feminism is decidedly unpopular with a lot of women because it means acknowledging the men in their lives are part of the problem. This is why liberal feminism has taken root, it turns the focus back onto women and their choices.

And if anyone needs an invite code, message me.

Invite code please

I feel like this was probably a tough decisions for the mods. The more diverse voices we have could lead to deeper discussions over there. I have many opposing views from a lot of radfems and I just got the feeling ovarit wouldn't be for someone more on the border of things.

Same. I'm really scared what is going to happen when invite codes stop being necessary.

The mods have a lot of practice banning trolls with the original r/GC so it may be less of a problem than you're thinking.

Even with their great job on reddit, I still ended up reading a lot of posts and replies by trolls and TRAs before they got deleted. Without that scum, ovarit feels so much nicer.

Couldn’t you keep it invite only permanently to prevent that?

[–]Feather 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Every online community that stays invite-only too long stays too small and, unfortunately, keeps out most of the people who would actually fit in. It's only a good thing to do if one wants to keep a community very small.

Even this forum isn't all female. It doesn't change the fact that Ovarit will always remain woman centric.

[–]DifferentAirGC 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

You could stay on ovarit and make a woman-only circle.

Not on Ovarit due to (personal situation.) Am a grateful lurker! Too bad men are constitutionally incapable of doing the same.

At first I was disappointed, cause even on Reddit the occasional dude was annoying as hell, but it would also be awesome for the community to be larger so I've come to terms with it. :P

I assumed it was because of the name. That's why I kept out of it
