I'm confused, if he's non binary then why does he want to be mummy. Do non binary people get to pick and choose while at the same time strictly label everyone else?

I had no idea he had come out as non binary this whole time I've thought he was just gay. I was gunna be like, well yeah he's the nurturing side of the gay equation. But no he had to transcend I guess.

Also, he's unafraid of failure and imperfection as non binary? What the fuck does that even mean? Did he feel bad as a gay man? Does he feel like he's not up to snuff with either man or woman so he just shrugs off both and takes from whichever suits him? Hey I'm all for doing what makes you happy but there's a definite pattern where people are so unaccepting of themselves that they have to do away with reality to feel better.

Women and moms I've seen at work are indeed exhausted. Kids are only going to school two days a week. There's no good way to freaking plan for this, and women are the natural nurturers so when this question gets brought up of course they'd say yes.

Pandemic has brought so many other issues to a halt in the US, like affordable childcare.

[–]Overdrive 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I would argue with your title wording a bit in that it is a combination of victimhood and the need to fix that creates real lasting damage. Proactive victims can create and drum up all sorts of fuss and support and they are really a force to be reckoned with.

I think one of the best ways to fight back against a group of "victims" is to actually give further voice to the most deranged ones. Put some kind of spotlight on them, showing that whatever it is has gone too far (it has to take a step too far) and you will see pushback.

However the good victims know this and use this, so idk. You take a step too far, push back, you stop. You take a few more steps next time, and you can see how ridiculous notions can slowly gain ground. I wonder how you combat something like that.

[–]Overdrive 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I just don't think people should get banned from places for "dead naming" or using wrong pronouns. Like if my own mother transitioned today, I'd still probably refer to her as my mother even if at other times I would try to respect her and say father or whatever. If my son wanted to transition, I'd still say that I gave birth to a boy. My beliefs are cemented in reality. My mother was a mother when she gave birth to me. My son was a son when I gave birth to him. That is reality and it can never change. Stop lying to people.

Now what do I think about Buck Angel's views? Well for one I know he is very accepting of his history and he is not afraid of living with and admitting to his reality. I wish the trans community as a whole was more accepting of themselves and their history. I have no trouble using he/him when referring to Buck. It doesn't take away at all from the problem that I have with the PHYSICAL REALITY that we are suddenly lacking in certain parts of society.

I would hedge that most of society is ok with referring to whomever as he or she if they so want to. What society as a whole balks at is the people who insist that their reality and history is somehow changed and they should be considered as not something different (MtF, FtM) but that they should absolutely be considered to just be a F or a M and therefore appropriate certain rights, spaces, positions, grants, and contribute to the statistics of the either F or M. I know my views are as different to other GC as are my life experiences, but one thing is for certain and that is penis or vagina that I would hope we would all agree on.

Well we are also tying their hands behind their backs much like we are with parents. They can't question the child and are afraid to. I'm sure medical professionals are out there that don't want to touch this with a 10' pole because they can't in good conscience just go along with the bullshit, and if they did try to see them they'd be suggesting any other avenue of care first. No one wants to lose their license to practice.

Schools are allowed to keep parents in the dark if their child decides they want to change name and gender. Parents can get into hot water and risk losing custody of their children if they don't show 100% commitment and support to a minor's flippant desire even though they are the one adult who knows their child best. I know these things originated as some sort of safeguard or protection for the individual however the way in which they are hindering general practice and parenting today is just bonkers.

If he hadn't died, this could've been just another episode of COPS. You struggle, you make it worse. That's how it goes. If you're fucked up enough to struggle and end up on the ground, that's on you. EVEN still, cops are trained to handle you as best they can even if you're drugged out and delirious.

Are there racist cops? Sure. But that's not this. This looks like another policing accident. This movement sprang from this? They're attacking cops but what about free healthcare and college education? That'd be a universal solution that'd elevate everyone out of poverty. What about ending the drug war? That'd halt the stupid amount of arrests over negligible drug charges. Nope. Stop the police it's the police that needs to go. This movement wants to eradicate racism and punish something that protects them 9 times out of 10. Jesus.

Left to their own devices I'm sure a good many would never have started to transition. At best, it's not worth the trouble trying to continuously get in to a doctor or therapist for each step in transitioning during a pandemic. At worst, there's no one to flaunt your "new self" to indoors alone in your home so they feel they don't need to bother because it's lost the thrill.

Subs shutting down others for no other reason than that they are different is bullshit. I think it'd be reasonable to kick someone out who tries to join a group about cats but starts talking about dogs. I think it's reasonable to kick trolls out, after a good amount of post history was scrutinized to support that. And any threats of violence or "go die" should definitely be banned. Maybe BPT has the notion that if they want a group only for black people, then they should have that. But that notion has to go all ways and it just doesn't, people's eyebrows raise.

Other than that...yeah. No one wants to actually argue with people anymore. No one wants a different perspective or opinion. If I joined a group about cats and struck up some arguments about cats, I'd probably get screamed at and shut down. Because a group about cats is never to be questioned. People's inability to stand by their beliefs and concede to a valid argument to that belief is really quite scary. It's not that I'm attacking those beliefs. You can have yours and I can have mine. The word of the day is concessions.

What the hell even is this article and these people. It's "very confusing" to have the urge to have a child when you can't? It's flipping called being a man. They're making it seem like their issues are what trans women feel, when it's just them as dudes on hormones kinda bummed out about facts of life.

No way in hell their bodies are fighting to have a period. No way in hell they can take hormones and suddenly they get this unexplainable urge to have a baby in their womb. Women don't even experience that, by and large.

Peaceful protest works astoundingly well when the people you are protesting against is violent against you. It's the tactic employed by Martin Luther King Jr. And despite how we feel on the inside, it is a tactic well worth considering. JK Rowling calmly replying to all the hate spewed at her comes to mind.

Yes, I'd extend an olive branch to the mentally ill. I get where you're going with that, I know that mental health plays a big role in a lot of trans people's lives and decision making. However we don't know the extent of the overlap, do we? I know the numbers tied to gender dysphoria are clearer however there is no way to generally tell if we are letting people transition on their own diagnosis. We are also forgetting this new wave of peer pressure and overwhelming acceptance to become trans. You should totally work to clear the fog, although it's strange that it's foggy in the first place, because we all know.

The goods they have been sold is that they can change their sex. Anyone can adopt any gender roles, at any time. I don't quite believe that they are altering their body to fit gender. They think they are altering their body to fit their desired sex which they are attaching to a gender. Both are wrong with my views. They will always be a trans woman, because that is just what they are.

I see, that's pretty understandable. I know where everyone is coming from when they find issue with my standpoint here. I wish I could articulate it well. I just don't want to see anyone smeared for sharing our views. It's not that I want to protect them. More like to extend the olive branch. Because it doesn't matter who you are, if you come out as gender critical you will be smeared.

Let me ask you this. So you've been banned from reddit. Smeared online. Let go from your job. Your government has laws in place that make it shockingly hard to question things. It's shockingly easy to obtain serious hormonal drugs. Your public schools are teaching trans ideology beginning at age five. And here we are, on saidit. Boxed in, shaved off, squared away. Pushed to the back of the closet. What are you going to do? How do you make things happen, and are those things working?

I think about that, and I realize that some of our most valuable allies in this may, in fact be, gender critical trans people. You can hate the idea and that's fine, I just am trying to better understand myself in this too and my views as everything progresses. If a trans person wants to get out and advocate for GC, I say great because I'm doing fuck all just posting on the internet and donating here and there.

It's ok, I can see not many here agree that we should also have concern for the silent majority of trans folk. I don't wish to scare any of them away from being GC, because anyone can be GC. It's not just about trans ideology.

I think it'd be worthwhile to consider the fact that if we try to shut down the other side completely, as the TRA's are doing to us, then we are no better.

That's just it. There's going to be outliers, and freaks of nature within both females and males. Sports aren't inherently fair in that way. We still make it our job to keep the playing field as level as possible, and any male has that automatic oomph on any female in multiple ways. Are there women who could wipe the board with certain male athletes? Sure. Yet I don't see how we can fairly be like "Oh this one here, he was a real wimp when he played as a male he can play." The matter is that in general, there are risks and advantages. A lot of trans women athletes were actually male competitors before as well. Not trying to be mean, just fair we can't consider the outliers as a means to open up the ring to everybody.

Have you seen some of these athletes? Have you seen what some TiM fighters have done to woman fighters? We've been right here this whole time going, uuuuuh she sure looks stronger doc.

And they're like. Let them in until we have proven otherwise! It's frustrating. I get the need for studies. It's still frustrating and it's going to continue to be frustrating for ALL of us as we are just absolutely bombared with stuff we already kinda knew.

I feel like the turning point was about 500 miles ago, though...

Abolish section 230, totally up for it.

But I also feel like we should convert these "platforms" into public utilities where our rights are protected and free from seedy interventions like this.

Because damn, try getting banned from a platform. Try finding work after if it was in any way a public affair. Try doing business, networking, meeting and servicing customers without these HUGE "platforms". I hate social media, I am glad that I do not need it. But people depend on them to make a living. So I'm more for making them an essential utility and through that, we all have a right to it and our rights on it.

Anyone know if these companies are even private businesses? Aren't they publicly traded? For anyone willing to do leg work, finding that out can really shut down the whole "they're a private company they can do what they want" argument. They fucking can't. Period. Stop gesticulating for blatant censorship.

Don't worry babe, there's plenty of people who don't share their political views simply because they have no wish to go down that rabbit hole continuously with people who won't really listen. You can definitely be friends with people that hold different views than you. Staying silent to ensure your personal safety is an unfortunate must. Staying silent on a topic can be rather powerful in it's own way when we're talking about your immediate peer group.

There's other ways that you can give your silent support, if you wish. Things like signing petitions, writing letters or online research. Spreading accurate information into the web is crucial and you can still do it anonymously. I urge you to do what you can but do not put yourself in any kind of danger to do it.

Here you are again, claiming that women are so very coddled, hm?

Social constructs do not have anything to do with our biology in relation to sex. You for some reason seem to be arguing to us the science which we already know. Men are stronger, faster, blah blah. We understand VERY well why there are women's class in sports and men's class in sports. That is why we are here, sir. We understand the concept of weight class and leagues and the value in rules and regulations pertaining to physical activity of the two biological sexes.

That does not explain, however the social discrimination, or why women tend to take on more service jobs than men, are expected to child rear over the men, to take care of home more than men, or bear more emotional and transgressional load more than men.

What would make you happy? Requiring women to sign up for the draft as well? Cause I'm all for it. Are you discrediting the many women who have already done so, or are currently serving right now? I am curious about you, man. The vitriol that you float around with is interesting.

The sad part is the massive wave of negative that has come her way. People aren't actually listening or reading what she has to say before denouncing her. They are blindly following the very vocally offended. People are calling her phobic but they haven't actually read her tweets! They are going off of what others are saying!

I guarantee that most people do not actually care. They see someone call her phobic, so they go "oh she's phobic" and move on with their day. But Jesus the woman, like many of us, have looked into the issues surrounding the movement. We've come to our own conclusions and we hold our own merit in this. We've got skin in the game. The little kids who are pushed into surgery. The female athletes being pushed to the side. The women who think, wait. If gender doesn't matter, why go to such lengths to flaunt it's stereotypes?

You have some interesting takes however the overall feel coming from your writing is that of someone who has become frightened of any sort of power women and women's groups may come to hold and I'd go so far as to say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with women holding power or having a say in a program. I do not believe that women will ever come to completely control any "program" although I do not doubt that there is a "sisterhood" and that women can dictate things in a way that not only hurts men, but also other women!

Anyway, on the contrary power is exactly what has elluded women for a very, very long time. Thousands of years. So if you claim that women are the most coddled I would hope that by that you mean subdued and controlled. You cannot deny that women have been historically persecuted against by no other reason than for being female.

I do have concerns about men's rights in all of this because I have firsthand seen advantages given to women with almost no questions asked. Things like child custody battles, alimony, rape accusations. These powers take place in legal court and benefit women more so than men and in some cases the women involved are truly vile people. Poor mothers, refusal to work, cheaters and liars. Although those can also apply to men. And there are reasons such safety nets were put in place to begin with, I do realize that. It is still frightening to see when men are used and abused in this way and I do not think it is right. If you have any literature on that particular imbalance I'd appreciate it. Something that preferably has a solution that you strongly identify with. Thanks.

Holy shit this gave me info I did not previously have. So if you're a woman with unusually high testosterone you're at about 2.7nm/L but the rules for trans women is that you have to be under 10?!?! That's a huge difference between rare levels found in females and what's just blindly accepted coming in as trans.

Not only that but this article suggests that even with hormone suppression, any muscle advantages and bone structure will essentially stay in place. (It is my uneducated guess here that if the trans person has gone through puberty as a male then the advantages will be there.)

This is some crazy shit.

Can't really blame anyone for toeing the new line these days. So many stories of people losing their jobs, getting harassed and smeared online. That's two HUGE aspects of life by today's standards and without them you're fucked. If the movement has enough power and clout, and also blind faith from many many people in the public, anyone who would otherwise speak up just don't. I really fear that this new movement has become too powerful and is on a path too destructive to even alter.
