It's a hot take, but: Social Media.

The algorithms are beyond destructive, they're actively malicious. You are fed a constant diet of affirming (in a general, not TRA, sense) content, things that agree with your worldview, posts, and are tailored to your very specific (and even personal) demographic. Slowly, fringe views no longer seem fringe because you see them all the time, and newer and newer fringe views seep in, and the cycle repeats.

I've seen numerous people on both left and right succumb to this and this is the unifying thing. They are terminally online, they get all their information from Twitter/Facebook/Instagram/YouTube, they're always sharing memes (feeding the algorithm), and once it's taken hold it just builds on itself. It doesn't matter what the content is: Qanon MAGA shit, trans shit, or hell even gardening shit. It happens the same way regardless.

Couple this with the fact that huge swaths of my (millenial) and younger generations have built basically their entire social lives online. For the zoomers, in a lot of cases it literally is their only social live, even among their IRL peers. This is also why cancel culture is so effective; the idea of having your whole social life destroyed for making one false move makes everyone anxious and hyper-reflexive in their affirmations of loyalty to the cult ("TWAW", "the election was rigged", etc.).

I don't know if there's even a way to fix this, short of massive deprogramming on a societal level. But since this serves the ruling class, and the majority have seemingly succumb to it, I don't know how to even begin fighting back, at least not in their realm. Only IRL can help.

Finally I think the timing with the end of the (second) Obama term was mostly coincidental. This really started very early in the 2010's with the rise of the algorithms on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, which was then adopted by other social media sites/apps. It really started to show itself in 2016 after a gradual initial climb, and has now become almost all-encompassing.

Yup, they've fully infected any non-rightwing discourse. As I put it in a previous thread:

Donald Trump really was the worst thing to happen to progressivism. Sure, this shit was being pushed before him, but 2016 really ramped up the "drink any cool-aid that calls itself progressive because if not you're WITH TRUMP!" Thus every "progressive" in the Anglosphere was suddenly completely onboard with every drop of TRA rhetoric because it's "progressive" and "fighting Trumpism".

US politics was already fucked beyond repair, but the Trump derangement syndrome causing the radicalization of run-of-the-mill progressives to "leftist" radlibs was really the nail in the coffin.

It's everywhere. I can barely watch most media because they always find some way to bring "twans" into it. Always. To be "a progressive" in 2021 it seems requires constantly repeating TWAW and "I hate t3rfs" every 5 minutes or you'll be cancelled, and I've always been a and identified with progressives. This shit is indeed cancerous.

And this is exactly why it was banned. Their ideology has no logical consistency, only cult-like mantras. Any debate very clearly demonstrates their inconsistency and nonsensical beliefs, so it must be shut down immediately. And the logic-back-on-them just shows how weak the arguments are. Do absolutely nothing.

Normal people know what Nazis stand for. Homophobia is a core component. It is absurd that a large group of LGB people are "nazis" or that "nazis" support them, and anyone with a cursory knowledge of Nazi/neo-Nazi ideology knows this implicitly.

This is a classic (in Internet terms) attempt to demonize a group via Godwin's law. This hand has been overplayed many times and is fraying. To the determent of wider societal acknowledgement of actual white supremacy, but also to the benefit of those to whom the "you're a Nazi/Nazis like you so you're bad" slur is leveled.

In other words, let them shout into their void. It's a sign we're winning.

Can you think of any phenomenon

Not one that doesn't have massive, institutional backing somehow. Which definitely fits this one.

It's definitely a form of mass hysteria being pushed by a small group to get rich (https://thefederalist.com/2018/02/20/rich-white-men-institutionalizing-transgender-ideology/) while also becoming immensely popular with the large swaths of alienated, downtrodden, and pornsick Millennials and Gen-Zers for whom it is simultaneously a large embracing community but also the epitome of disadvantage and oppression, which for wokesters is absolutely critical for social clout. It's a modern secular religion who's appeal is like that of any other trendy phenomenon ("the goths are now the trans kids") and also has social and parasocial benefits for those involved. A perfect storm of profit motive, late capitalist hellscape, and (para)social factors coming together to produce society-wide madness.

I take solace in that, like all such fads, it will die out eventually. But not before destroying thousands of lives.

And also it's one of the more dehumanizing late-capitalist arguments out there, and the sad part is it's usually made by "leftists" (in big quotes there).

"Well, I live in capitalism and capitalism sucks so selling my body as a camwhore should be legal" like, fuck off - you're reducing one of the last things about your humanity that isn't commodified into, what exactly, some sort of protest? Not only does it ignore the massive suffering in the sex trade by hiding it behind camgirls and OnlyFans "safe, clean 'sex work'", it justifies the very capitalist exploitation that they claim to be against, but only for the sex work. And it also ignores the very notions of "consent" that they claim to push - that any coercive sex is rape, except when it's economic coercion then it's OK, because it's their "free choice", but then in the same breath they'll repeat "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism", because all economic activity has a coercive element of "get money or die starving in a gutter". It's really sad.

I wouldn't doubt for a second that this is a calculated move from the talent agency and publicist. "Come out as trans now, you'll go up 8% in approval ratings among wokies and that will sell your next role". Also wonder how related this is to the backlash against Halle Berry, maybe Ellen cough sorry Elliot, just wants to play a transman in an upcoming movie and is concerned about the woke backlash. What better way around it than to just claim she's a man?

I'm sure there could be personal aspects to it as well. Maybe the Hollywood woke scene finally convinced her that she must really be a man since she doesn't like dick, who knows. Like everything about genderism, and cults in general, the motivations of the true believers and victims cannot truly be known.

This is exactly it, and why the entire notion of "trans", at least this strange modern biology-denying form, is inherently sexist. When "trans" just meant "gay man who liked to dress in drag and present as a woman" without denying they were a man, or "butch lesbian dressing as manly as possible" without denying they were a woman, it was not sexist. But this insistence that Gender Roles = Gender = Sex, and that if you deviate even slightly from these you must be "trans" or "non-binary", is inherently harmful and sexist. This is, I think, the best way. LGB acceptance was incredibly high in the late 2000's early 2010's before it started nosediving when TRAs came along and turned it into LGBTQ2IAWTF. Normal people support LGB people far more often than not, and TRAs know this, which is why they constantly associate themselves with the LGB community. I mean, really, would TRAs have gotten anywhere if they didn't have LGB orgs, communities, and societal goodwill to colonize and force themselves as the new "progressive cause" once gay marriage was won?

Make the TRAs expose their homophobia publicly, and call them out on it. Nothing will accelerate dropping-the-T faster.

For example, a friend of a friend is a trans woman. In terms of appearance, she passes well, but every time I talk to her, I become aware that I'm talking to someone who used to be a man. It's the things she's interested in and the directions she chooses to take in the conversation. She talks like a guy.

Felt the same way about most trans people I've met. If you talk to them long enough, no matter how well they pass, there come up little things that will always suggest they were socialized as the opposite sex (i.e. their birth sex), be it music choices, phrasing and word choice, the way they talk about other people, etc.

This right here. It's the cultism of the movement in action. The ideas of "non-binary" are so vague ("you're not the most hyper-masculine manly man or the most feminine femme woman ever, you must be enby!") they will sucker in anyone who is the slightest bit GNC and convince them, via group loyalties and the desire to be different/"special", that they must be part of the "LGBTQ community" despite basically being straight slightly-GNC people. real Nazism is anymore, or remember that the Nazis were defeated in WWII

This is a pretty shitty take. An ideology does not simply magically vanish into history just because an implementation of it (and its original leader) was defeated. Thousands of literal SS officers were insta-forgiven by the US in Operation Paperclip, for instance.

Nazis, people subscribing to the ideology of National Socialism as espoused by Adolf Hitler in 1920's through 1940's Germany, are absolutely a thing today. Trying to do the "but they're not actually 'Nazis' because they're not literally Germans in 1945" is obtuse and intentionally distracting from the issue at hand.

Is the term "[literal] Nazi" misused, yes. Does that mean that anyone and everyone isn't a Nazi, no.

That really is the problem - a society overfilling with "sex sells", swipe apps, one-night-stands/friends-with-benefits/hookups, "normalization" of fetishes, etc., has made "sexually promiscuous" the norm and "prude" a dirty word/insult. So anyone who's "prudish" now needs to call themselves "demisexual" and cares about it (which in woke spaces matters), which benefits them in 2 ways: 1, it gets them into the acronym soup, and 2. it renames "prude" into something that's socially acceptable.

There is a certain irony in A being included with LGB though. For years, didn't atheists argue that "we don't hate god, we don't believe in him". Is then Ace, by that same logic, not a sexual orientation? Like T, why is it lumped in with LGB? Asexuality is just that - no sexual attraction. I don't doubt it exists. But is it part of LGB? No. Absence of sexual attraction is not a sexual orientation; it is the lack of sexual orientation. Is it a "sexual minority"? Sure, but it's just more letters to dilute the acronym and turn it into the "big tent" of "not vanilla". LGB meant something important before 50 other letters diluted it.

The idea of "gender" as a concept is a useful one. It describes the cultural expectations foisted on people due to their sex, i.e. gender roles, gendered clothing, etc. It was not intended to either be a synonym for, or exactly the same as, sex.

But like goddamn everything in academic discourse, it's was twisted and adopted to mean something else by the mainstream because thinking is hard. So suddenly it became a synonym for "sex" in the English-speaking world, I guess because "sex" implies "sexual activity" while "gender" is nice and fluffy, which seemed OK for 20+ years, until TRAs decided to again decouple it to push their narcissism on others. Now we have a nonsensical wishy-washy situation where gender means sex except when it doesn't and the gatekeepers of that don't believe in either except when they do except head explodes.

I'm now at the point where I think a lot of this is a stealth campaign by the conservatives of the world to make liberals looks so ridiculous they will never hold office again.

Considering who owns the media (hint: it's billionares, who by definition are "conservative" i.e. not-left-wing, or at least not actual Marxism/Dialectical Materialism/Change the economic system left), yes. And it's not even stealth.

All culture war bullshit (whether religion, race, gender, etc.) helps the ruling class, i.e. the rich. It keeps working people divided into bubbles/tribes constantly at war with each other, preventing us from developing class solidarity. This is why it's so pushed, why it ramped up so much recently. The Internet, as it existed in the 2000's and (very early) 2010's, when populated by normal people instead of geeks, was their worst nightmare. All the dreams about what the Internet "could be", the grand knowledge-scape populated by equals - that is directly contradictory to the goals of the ruling class. It had to be destroyed. Enter idpol.

No, you're not wrong.

For example recently I posted about how it sucks growing up being assumed to be the "gay one" because you don't fit masculinity, how I was bullied for it and how turning out to be actually gay was very hard for me, and even TODAY I still feel ashamed of my femininity as an adult.

I'm a straight GNC male, but this bit, it resonates, man. I get you, even though I'm attracted to women. I know that experience.

These narcissists, though? Fucking hell. Of course they don't. They're female. The grew up as women. Yes, that has its own set of issues. But they're not your issues.

This is the kind of shit that pushed me towards the GC movement. As a long-time gay ally (having lots of gay male friends, spending a lot of time with them) what bugged me was actually this bit. The appropriation, the woque homophobia. And I read how they spoke about women, especially lesbians, and it set me off even more. How is this shit progressive?

FFS I don't know what I hate more, than "Marxism" has become synonymous with radlib social "progressivism" among "leftists", or among conservatives.

It's a cope that's been bashed into their heads: "you don't like the stereotypical gender roles for your sex" = "you must not be that gender", so if you "don't like" both sets of extreme stereotypical gender roles, you're "non-binary". No, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever unless you drink that particular Kool-Aid, which is in vast supply. This is why the trans movement is extraordinarily regressive despite its constant proclamations of progressivism.

It's just like ACAB.

ding ding ding. As a leftist, I detest the absolute hypocrisy of these libleftists who constantly say "ACAB" while turning right around and saying "we can't gatekeep X or Y community". I mean, yea, I agree ACAB. And I also think LGB should rid itself of trender TQ's and the groomers in their midst. One is the party line, one gets you cancelled, when they're saying the exact same fucking thing: if a member of group A is being abhorrent, and the other members of group A ignore, abet, or outright support them, then all of group A is guilty of the crimes of the abhorrent members, or the abhorrent members should be removed from the group (a.k.a. "gatekeeping").

"Gatekeeping" becoming some naughty action is the root cause of this absurdity IMHO. If LGB(T) was able to gatekeep out the trenders, LGBT was able to gatekeep the groomers, then this wouldn't even be an issue and we'd still be at 2011 levels of acceptance among the wider public. But the trenders and groomers just kept pushing the boundaries for no good fucking reason and lying about it, and here we are.

GC: Are "male" and "female" fallacious dichotomous categories? Are we guilty of either-or, black and white, excluded middle, and false dilemma fallacies when we categorize things into binaries such as "male" and "female"? by [deleted] in GCdebatesQT

Humans are a sexually dimorphic species.

In sexually dimorphic species, the two sexes have differing traits that, in general identify male from female members.

There can be exceptions. Just as a random male robin may be lighter red than a rando female robin, in general, males have darker color.

In humans, the dimorphism includes height, muscle mass, bone density, strength, endurance, and many secondary sexual characteristics (for instance breasts in females and Adam's apples in men).

All of this is descriptive, not proscriptive. All of this is based off clear and present observation of human beings.

Now, moving beyond humans specifically, all sexually reproductive species have at least two sexes. That is generally part of the definition. How, exactly, each species is divided varies, as do what chromosomes trigger each sex to differentiate. Humans are an XY species. XX triggers female traits and reproductive organs, XY triggers male traits and reproductive organs. This is not particularly complicated unless you choose to believe that 0.1% exceptions invalidate a descriptive generalized observation, which is hogwash. Any exception is precisely that - an exception - and has nothing to do with trangenderism or any other such nonsense.

So yes, it is a binary, because our sexual reproduction is a binary process. Two gametes, two sets of chromosomes, dimorphism. There is no fallacy here, just observational fact.

Yes, many of us are.

Because the Rainbow already included everyone. You know, every color under the sun.

But of course then someone had to add race into it. Then 7 other colors because it wasn't about "representing" everybody, it was about enforcing their "existence" on everyone. And we can't just have a generally-representative thing like a rainbow: no, it must include my group explicitly too.

Then that one person turned it into a wedge which made it 5x uglier than the original pride flag (though to be fair 1/2 as ugly as the 15-color monstrosity stripes), and very clearly articulates the goal of the groups in the wedge: to divide and destroy what pride stood for (you know, gay rights). Not to mention too that this version is not free to use; they demand royalties and are making sick bank off of pushing it everywhere. Just another grifter.

Drug companies want to push physical medical transition, because that makes them money. Incels want to be "the other sex" to access "same-sex relationships" for their twisted reasons. [–]bopomofodojo 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think Atwood, and probably many more like her, are just quietly repeating the platitudes and hoping it goes away.

Atwood is not JKR. She does not have billions of dollars in wealth from a massive media franchise. According to a quick Google, she's worth circa $20 million, which is a fuckload, but not "I changed a generation of youth culture and corporations are never gonna drop me" rich like JKR. She can't just be as brave - OK maybe she can but maybe she can't, contracts and shit - so she goes with it, because the alternative is an outright deluge of violent misogyny masquerading as "feminism" and "trans acceptance".

She knows. There's no way she doesn't know. She's a well-read old-school feminist who wrote one of the masterpieces of feminist literature and changed many perceptions about what misogyny was and could become. And she has to balance that legacy against getting labeled an "anti-feminist TERF" and getting cancelled, which, I can't imagine is an easy decision. But the action to keep the masquerade going is so simple - just say TWAW and keep quiet. The fact that an outspoken long-time feminist can't say the truth is very telling of just how much power TRAs have, and I sincerely hope she's one of the first to speak out as the tide changes and it is no longer a threat to her life and livelihood to do so.

Both groups are definitely problematic (sorry for the wokeie term, but it fits) but for different reasons. Transmeds think they can rewrite the fabric of their bodies with drugs, surgery, etc. to project a facsimile of the opposite sex. Tucutes think they can rewrite the fabric of society and human experience with language/thought policing, cancel culture, etc. to project a fantasy of the opposite sex. Both are irredeemably toxic movements. The only "trans" that wasn't was the pre-2000's time when being a "gay, boy, transwoman" (to quote Marsha P. Johnson) was not seen as an oxymoron.

What's the connection between being trans and having other mental disorders? by jacques1102 in TumblrInAction

[–]bopomofodojo 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is an iceberg.

First of all, a lot of it ties back to narcissism. These people absolutely crave attention - positive or negative - and will do anything to get it. Trans gets them attention. Claiming to have 18 self-diagnosed mental illnesses gets them attention. Acting like a lunatic and writing unreadable star-filled diatribes gets them attention.

Next, there is indeed a correlation between autism and trans. Likely because, well, autistic people tend to be socially isolated, unable to connect with other people, and most importantly, deeply unhappy with themselves and their bodies. In comes a socially contagious movement claiming that if you "just take these drugs and chop off some bits, you'll be your TrUe SeLf and happy all the time". And because of the autistic tendency to hyper-fixate, this becomes their be-all-end-all: personality, hobby, social circle, etc. It's a vicious cycle. Just replace "trans" with "heroin" and listen to them talk, and it becomes clear how similar it is to a drug addition.

Last at least for this post, well, they probably do have a couple serious mental illnesses. We live in a deeply disturbing society for numerous reasons and in numerous ways, and huge swaths of young people are depressed, anxious, and abusing non-drug things like drugs (video games, social media, etc.) for the dopamine hit. A few go off the deep end, and statistically speaking, that's a lot of people. But on another hand, well, if you're a healthy, happy, well-adjusted 20-something person, are you really going to go off a deep end and start fixating on taking hormones and chopping off bits? I mean, unless your friends all are (social contagion after all), probably not. And the silent majority of normal people who aren't terminally online just don't make the noise these crazies do.

"Normal" is bad. Everything else flows from this. Cishet = bad, be LGBTPQUDJFKDKJSD+, just make up some xenogender or aromantic-noncommital-poly-bi bullshit if you're not actually gay. White = bad, be some form of "POC". Neurotypical = bad, self-diagnose some sympathy-inducing mental illness (or 5). You can see the pattern. I am interested in hearing some perspectives from gender critical feminists on the topic of medical transition treatments for gender dysphoria by MissAnarchist in GCdebatesQT

[–]bopomofodojo 10 insightful - 3 fun10 insightful - 2 fun11 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Should medical transition for gender dysphoria be allowed? If you believe it should be allowed, why and with what restrictions (if any)?

Yes, for adults, but with hard conditions. Because the facts back up that it is not an effective treatment (does not reduce suicide rates), and constitutes a form of medical self-mutilation, it should be allowed only to adults with sound mind (i.e., one is first getting treatment for all their other inevitable mental health comorbidities, then being put under evaluation for some period of time), should not be covered by any form of socialized medicine (no "free sex changes" or "titty skittles" on anyone else's dime), should not push the person ahead of anyone else in any sort of waiting list (the FtM "but my mastectomy should come before breast cancer patients" bullshit), and should be subject to careful ethical review (no Mermaids or Tavistock pushing it as the first option on anyone without serious ethical committee backlash, e.g. losing medical licenses). I sort of waffle between a hard "no" and this position depending on how egregious the TRA community is acting that week. But the bottom line is, the evidence says it is not helpful, so it should be a last resort and cosmetic procedure. It is not "life-saving" except to the exceptionally delusional who should first be on other treatments. In short, the "truscum" viewpoint with a slightly more critical outlook

What about legal/social transition (i.e. legal documents)?

Social? You do you. Dress up in whatever clothes you want, wear make up, grow a beard, whatever. "Present" how you want. Legal? No. Born a man/woman, always a man/woman; biological sex cannot be changed and your documents should reflect this. The obsession the trans community has with passing at all costs, even down to outright fabricating their medical history (which is the logical endgame of a "legal transition") is delusional and not based in reality, and comes down to outright refusal to accept their biological sex is an immutable, fundamental trait that shapes the mind (not the other way around). This is not to mention the various issues with men "identifying as" women legally which, for all intents and purposes, entirely strips sex-based protections away. For identification purposes, post-transition, it might be worthwhile to have a driver's license or similar reflect the current reality, but stuff like rewriting birth certificates or adjusting medical charts with fake information, no.

Also any other input that may help clarify your perspective

The trans movement is glorified self-mutilation. In the same vein as tattoos, body piercing, grafting, etc. In fact I put it on par with "cut off my healthy arm due to limb dysphoria" and anorexia in terms of level of mental unwellness. The only reason it is considered at all socially and medically acceptable is the push by the TRA lobby, on the backs of the LGB community's extremely long and hard-fought battle for acceptance, for any concession for "trans" people whatsoever under the guise of faux "progressivism", because of the mantra "well we were wrong in calling gay people insane, what if we're wrong about this one too?" We're not. Being gay does not have a 95% comorbidity with 1 or (and often) more other mental health conditions that need treatment instead. It does not demand that reality subsume to the unstable whims of an individual. It is same-sex attraction, not enforced society-wide delusion.

It's because US liberals (and, liberalism in general) have lost their minds since the end of the 1990's.

When GWB was elected, it started a cycle/spiral of "whatever they (conservatives) do, we must oppose on fundamental grounds, because they have ~bad thoughts~ and those bad thoughts are harmful". At first, this was about sensible stuff: LGB rights, environmentalism, anti-war, etc. But then under the Obama years and with the rise of social media, it started to shift. There needs to be new "progress" especially as the former big ones (especially gay marriage) were won. Out of the skeptic/new-Atheist community came SJWism, which quickly evolved into wokism. It's a black-and-white ideology that directly parallels a strange mix of Catholic, Calvanist, and other ultra-protestant thoughts: you are born bad, you have no salvation except by random chance, you must constantly atone for these sins, and you must speak the magic words when prompted to let others know you are a Good Person. Coupled with the dominance of social media, this created a powder keg.

Then the Lord Satan Himself, Donald Trump, somehow won the presidential election of 2016 against the Good and Noble Girlboss Kween Killary Clinton and all hell broke lose. Suddenly, that same energy that was channeled against GWB in the 2000's was amplified a thousand-fold. Absolutely anything he does, says, thinks is good, or promotes is automatically evil heresy. Despite not actually being that nuts compared to the Fundie nutjobs in the Repub party, he was evil incarnate. Cue the SJW shitstorm. I'm pretty convinced that about 90% of genderism is due simply to Gen Z thinking that being "LGBTQWTFZYX" is a counterculture to those "dirty old men Republicans like Trump". Then, pandemic, and he loses 2020 but does his stupid LARP on Capitol Hill, giving the liberals yet another endless boogieman. And now we get Critical Race Theory and similar woke jargon on top of gender jargon. Anything that calls itself "progressive" is immediately latched onto by these liberals because they're "on the right side of history". And gosh darn it this rainbow dildo monkey says he's the new bastion of progressivism which means he must be! Right. Side. Of. History. Dammit. You. Bigot. And let's not even get into the cultural imperialism they impose on the rest of the world with "latinx" and similar crap.

You are on a weird trip, but it's not your fault. They laced our culture with the black acid and we're along for the ride.

I sort of hate that this really interesting species in the universe of ST is just being reduced to "trans metaphor" retroactively and the actual sex and accomplishments of the characters are being erased for this reason (so many TiMs saying that "akshually Jadzia Dax is a stunning and brave transwoman" rather than a strong, competent woman - pretty typical).

I thought she was a great character with a lot of potential (yay more Trills!), for multiple reasons - but... why not just make her a girl/woman? It accomplishes nothing, and everyone just called her "she".

Definitely feels like it, and I fully support it. These attention whores decided to make 3rd person pronouns a hill to die on, and try to force the rest of us to play their neverending game of "constantly think about pronouns" instead of just using the basic rules we learned from birth, so congratulations on these execs for finding the perfect malicious compliance way around it. This one freak wants to be a special snowflake and demand irregular pronouns, then everyone gets the neutral one from now on.

And of course they tell on themselves that once again it's always about "validation" a.k.a. their extreme narcissism. I've maintained for years that the only people who could possibly give a shit what 3rd person pronouns someone uses for them are narcissists, and every time they get uppity like this, it confirms it further.

This is what drives me the most crazy about enby's. You cannot - cannot - be an "enby" without fully subsuming yourself to gender stereotypes. You just can't. Their entire worldview and foundation of identity is based on these stereotypes. Despite the LGB community and GNC people more broadly fighting for literally a century to be seen as more than just presentation, in the span of 5 years they've turned around and subsumed sex and sexual orientation to said presentation. It's laughably absurd but yet it is the progressive Truth du jour right now.

Trans people constantly abuse allyship. All the time, non-stop.

Yup. They demand unconditional allyship so they can say whatever they want without question or confrontation. It means they cannot be held accountable for their actions or speech. You see the same thing with BLM, etc. as well, and it's a core component of wokeism.

What is with these people? Why do they feel such a need to claim LGB status to feel special?

It literally is that simple.

Among "progressives", being "part of the LGB[TQWTFZYX] community" is a positive virtue signal. It communicates that they are "good people" who are, not just allies, but actual members of the group. Thus, these straights will try absolutely anything they can to join the community. Now, naturally, since you can't change your sexual orientation, that means somehow making "straight" a part of the LGB[TQWTFXYZ] community. Thus, we get "demisexual": a term that literally means "has a normal, healthy view of sexual relationships". It's maddening.

I'm fully convinced this gender stuff is some sort of reaction (intentional, unintentional, conscious, unconscious, I don't know) to the gradual wearing away of gender norms in the 90's and 00's. I'm still trying to make heads or tails of the why, but it definitely seems like a societal crackdown on GNC, focusing instead of changing the "gender" part rather than the "roles" part. So instead of "men" and "women" who don't conform to their gender, we have "genderfluid" and others adhering (or, more precisely, not adhering) to strict gender roles. It's completely reactionary, disguised as "more progressive". CRT is the same vis-a-vis "colorblindness".

Well, they did. /r/detrans was part of the GC ban. It was only due to backlash that they relented and pulled the "oh that one was a mistake". But make no mistake - if there hadn't been backlash from that community (and, admittedly, its distancing itself from GC and LGBdtQ lent them begrudging legitimacy in the eyes of the TRAs), it would've stayed banned. They realized that this would simply Streisand Effect the situation at the time, and relented.

They keep changing the definitions around so it's never clear. First "Gen Y" was ~1980-1997 and "Millenials" was 1998+, then that got swapped back one and "Gen Z" was anyone after 1998 (who are indeed now becoming adults with the older cohort in their early 20's), but then that shifted again and now "Zoomers" are the post 2010 generation and... who knows anymore. We should just use date ranges.

A VPN from a reputable provider will be enough. As long as the people making the form don't work for the VPN provider (and even then), you're safe. And if they're reputable they're not storing logs for employees to snoop anyways. NordVPN is a good recommendation, as is TunnelBear despite their current owners.

Yes. These people are full-on delusional and require constant validation of others. The pronoun thing is just a perfect example. No sane person ever considers demanding how others refer to them when they're not around - what pronouns are for - because they have a healthy acceptance that they are not the center of the universe.
