Every constituent element of our entire society is locked and loaded to affirm a cis person in their gender

There is really no polite way to say this. Everyone sees people for what sex they are, regardless of how they dress or feel. It doesn’t matter if I put on a dress and heels or a button-down and oxfords. When I go out in the world, everyone recognizes me as a woman and calls me as such. There’s no “affirmation” happening. People are just calling it as they see it.

What trans people don’t get is that no one looks at a transwoman and thinks, “that’s a woman.” Everyone knows he’s a man and is just politely tiptoeing around the issue because they know he’s a head case and don’t want to be accused of “bigotry.” The same goes for transmen and non-binary people. No one is “affirming” gender. They’re merely accommodating mental illness out a sense of social niceness.

Exactly. And this is also why "just be nice" is such a motte-and-baily for them.

"Some Liberal: Just be nice"... OK, fine, I'll be nice, I like being nice. "Obvious Man in a dress: I'm a woman"... OK, well, I guess saying "sure hun" is "nice", and people want be to be nice, so. "Person with serious delusions: I am not a man, I'm a WOMAN"... OK, well, you're actually not literally a woman... "BIGOT!"... Uh, what about being nice? "Fuck you fascist".

Even the people who most fervently believe the TWAW and TMAM things don't actually view them as women or men. Especially for trans women who are never, ever held to the same standards that women are held.

Exactly. There’s a transbian in my friends circle. A few of my friends are super woke and will scream TWAW all day. In private they say stuff like, “it just seems like maybe she absorbed a lot of toxic masculinity.”

I understand that this is a repost, the original post removed because its title used the "m" word.

I would like to suggest that the "m" word is in fact appropriate and that it is actually one of the central issues in the intersection of LGB, T, and children. It's very clear that GNC children are at very high risk of being transed, even though many if not most of these children would grow up to be ordinary LGB folks. Now consider what lifelong medicalization really involves.

The more I find out about so-called "bottom-surgery", the more I come to believe that it is the infliction of grievous injury on the patient (masculinizing mastectomy is also injurious but not quite at the same level). There are no board standards. The complication rate is high. Even when the surgery is considered a success there are still many problems.

Consequently I think the m-word is highly appropriate for what is really happening. We should name this horror for what it really is. And children who would otherwise be LGBs will end up being victims.

The overwhelming message on all of them is simply “you could be trans.” And frankly, I don’t think that’s a bad thing for literally anyone to be told.

It'd be one thing to be told "it's fine to be yourself", or "there's nothing wrong with liking X just because you're a man". I know a lot of us homosexuals have been enjoying some gender non-conformity at some point in our lives. And practically no one has exclusively feminine traits just because they're female, or exclusively masculine traits just because they're male. That's very normal.

But to say that every person could be trans? As in, changing your name, pronouns, community, ideology, your own body? I think that's a strange thing to tell someone.
