So I'm probably about a Kinsey 5.5. Like, last night my husband and I went to a party and there was a woman present whom I was legitimately intrigued by (husband and I are monogamous so we're just talking about my fantasy life here.) I identify as a gay man but the last time I mentioned this kind of thing you all jumped on top of me and told me I was bisexual. OK, whatever, other than very occasional fantasies my life is indistinguishable from that of a Kinsey 6.0 gay man.

I would consider, out of curiosity, under the right circumstances, having sex with a trans man, but I would never be interested in an LTR with one (mostly because the fact of being a trans man is radically at odds with my core values). But I also don't think that any gay man is obligated under any circumstances to consider any trans man as part of their dating pool.

Point is, sex is complicated and doesn't fully match up with social identity. I'm fine with that as long as you are not using your own experience as a way to coerce others into doing something they don't want to do.

I don't agree that fathers are less important than mothers, it's just that they are important at different developmental stages.

Consider that people might also be misled on Ivermectin. There is decent literature support for Ivermectin, both direct and indirect (some of it is mixed, to be sure, the literature is not unanimous). Anecdotally I know several people whose covid symptoms improved considerably after taking Ivermectin. The problem with Ivermectin is that there is no real money to be made from it.

This is a good way to put it. I'm relatively open to racial integration as long as the goal is (relative) cultural homogeneity. This worked well in the U.S. for European descendants: while white people in the U.S. do still respect subtle differences between (say) Italians and Irish, there is not really much meaningful difference between European-descended Americans beyond a kind of memory or respect for ancestral distinctions. Even Latinos and Asians who assimilate are able to contribute to a larger sense of united tribe/nationality. But this doesn't work when open hostility against "white" culture is promoted and people are incentivized to retain cultural practices that are radically at odds with the majority.

Everybody gets participation awards, and you can be anything and everything you want. Our generation, Gen-X, was given relatively precise parameters on being, if not behavior. I think this is true and explains some of the individual developmental issues. But what happens when you throw together 100s or 1000s of such adult men who have not had opportunities to develop? They collectively reinforce their developmental stasis. It's fine to understand the hypersexuality but it still doesn't excuse it in the long run. At some point a person needs to take responsibility for their own psychological and spiritual development (whatever the latter means to you).

There's not much you can do about dynamics of collectives, as for the most part they are self-sustaining. The only thing you can do as an individual is remove yourself from them. That's ultimately what I chose to do.

Anything can be harmful. As a child I was told some weird things in a totally new-age context that had long-term damaging effects.

I don't agree with what LDS teaches, especially around homosexuality, but I still believe they have a right to teach those things to their kids. The alternative -- the state dictating what parents can and cannot teach their children -- is far worse. This is where we are going with trans ideology, and unless we're willing to maintain a certain level of intellectual principle around the subject we will lose one way or the other (all trans all the time or only heterosexual sex missionary position is allowed).

I didn't see the show. However: maybe a bit of an unpopular opinion, but as long as conversion therapy is limited to talk therapy (possibly about religious topics) I don't see a problem. It does become a problem when it gets into abusive territory (shock, other forms of physical abuse, systematic social isolation, extreme forms of shaming, etc.)

I'm at a point where I prioritize spirituality over other things that are not directly about survival. If others want to do the same (or want to encourage their children to do the same), at the expense of sexual activity, I'm not going to judge. Kids shouldn't be having sex anyway, and if an adult chooses celibacy for religious reasons it's none of my business.

Imma push back gently here, as a gay man in my early 50s who has been out since I was 17. I wouldn't say that gay men worship straight men, but in my long observation straight men (on average) do some things much better than gay men. One of them is male camaraderie, i.e. being able to have other men as friends while keeping your boundaries and others' boundaries safe. My husband and I are pretty much at the point where we agree we cannot have other gay male friends, and prefer the company of straight men and women (and sometimes lesbians). The issue seems to be that other gay men can't seem to exist without making everything about sex. No, we don't want to have sex with you, we don't even want to talk about sex with you, we certainly don't want you to embarrass us by audibly and obviously oggling the young male waitstaff when we go out to dinner.

I realize that straight men do some of these things too, but I think the experience of raising a family tends to (on average) attenuate some of the more immature behaviors that I've seen in gay men well into their 60s and 70s.

But yeah: once you're old enough you learn that enforcing your boundaries is very high priority.

I understand your position and of course you are the moderator.

My only rebuttal is that the argument is made all the time that we should be selecting dating partners based on "gender" and not sex. When we ask what "gender" means, the best we get is some kind of mental state. But if that were true, there should be objective evidence that supports the idea that some people who (e.g.) are male in terms of sex have more female brains and vice versa.

Of course the approach I wrote out in 10 minutes is supremely flawed for a lot of different reasons (the training set used to train the analyzer might not generalize to the target population, confounders such as age and social context). But I would argue the larger scale objective is important and relevant to LGB, whose identities are based on sexual orientation, which is objective. I do not think "gender" is objective at all. Demonstrating that is important to our cause (if it can be done).

Yes, I think a critical part of the plan is to create the precedent for regular "updates". Over time they will selectively target certain haplogroups for elimination by rendering them infertile (or at least impairing fertility in a statistical sense). This is relatively easy to do in principle (from a computational perspective) although creation of the right molecules/antibody-conjugates is of course a bit tricky; since the surest delivery system is intravenous they need the vaccine mandate.

As for which haplogroups they will target, that's what 23-and-Me is for (combined with FB and other social media). With a large enough data set it is possible to conduct a GWAS that will allow one to find genetic predispositions to certain behaviors.

I may be much older than you, which colors my response quite a bit. I am fairly straightforward about my homosexuality but I don't express any overt sexuality and I find it a bit, well, off-putting when people do (even other gay men). Maybe it's an age or stage-of-life thing, I don't know. I'm perfectly fine talking about Husband in a way that makes it explicit that we are married, but it's much the same way that any straight person would talk about their spouse. The focus is on our life together, not sex.

I mean this dead seriously, it seems like some kind of programming went haywire: he has somehow been programmed (or at least briefed) to publicly reinforce the conflation of anti-vaxxers with "loony conspiracy theorists" (aliens, moon, etc.) but with his accelerating dementia couldn't keep it all straight and just started spitting out a garbled mess.

I don't see a problem with this as long as they STFU about females ("afabs") not wanting to interact with them sexually or romantically.

This wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and it was interesting to hear this person's perspective.

However, at the end of the day they don't really seem to be taking responsibility for their actions (I'm carefully choosing pronouns now and switched a few times for a variety of reasons). I am sympathetic to the desire to be treated as fundamentally human and not somebody's sex object or object of ridicule.

My problem with trans people isn't at the individual level of wanting romantic and spiritual fulfillment. It is with a community that refuses to police itself regarding boundary violations. When trans people collectively stop demanding sexual access to others who don't want to interact with them sexually, collectively stop demanding deep changes in fundamental aspects of our language, and collectively shame calls for violence within their own ranks, then I am open to having a conversation with them about some of the valid points that are raised in this article.

Divide your beliefs into dealbreakers and agree-to-disagrees

This is an important point. Also, if you are really interested in someone, try to steer disagreements into the "agree-to-disagree" territory. Husband and I did not agree on US presidential candidates this last election cycle but we can respect each others' opinions.

If TQ+ doesn't directly impact your life I think it can go in "agree-to-disagree" bucket. For me, it would only ever become a deal-breaking issue if there were children involved, children for whom I had responsibility.

Look for conservative guys, even if they currently don't know enough (yet) to drop the T. Over time they can learn.

My husband was kind of indifferent to or even weakly supportive of TQ+ nonsense, but he grew up in the Bible Belt and his parents are very serious Christians (still sweet and very supportive of our relationship even if on paper they are not supportive of "gay marriage"). Over time (10 years) his natural conservatism has led him to agree more and more with my center-right positions.
