I couldn't believe it and looked on wikipedia. They have already changed all the pronouns and her name.

This is so stupid.

You're telling me that after 33 years you discovered you're a mAn iNSiDe? You're whole career is based on your pretty look and cute face!

Yes Ellen, when people see your photos they clearly think of a man now, just because you say so. Ceci n'est pas une pipe.

[–]MinisterOfTerfery 52 insightful - 2 fun52 insightful - 1 fun53 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

I actually remember her coming out video from a few years ago, she seemed so happy and free and sure of herself. And now we're supposed to believe that she was actually secretly unhappy and grappling with her gender identity all this time?

[–]yousaythosethings 45 insightful - 1 fun45 insightful - 0 fun46 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

She came out at an event hosted by the Human Rights Campaign and has continued to work with them, so she very likely has been groomed into this. Obviously she's a grown woman (or was lol), but I'm sure it has been difficult for her to be a tomboyish lesbian in Hollywood.

[–]MarkTwainiac 43 insightful - 4 fun43 insightful - 3 fun44 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

She came out at an event hosted by the Human Rights Campaign

The Scrotum Rights Campaign is increasingly coming across like the gender ideology equivalent of the Church of Scientology. Perhaps it should be called the Church of Genderology.

[–]MarkTwainiac 46 insightful - 8 fun46 insightful - 7 fun47 insightful - 8 fun -  (2 children)

You're whole career is based on your pretty look and cute face!

Also, so many people (particularly those of us who don't watch movies like "X-Men" or TV series like all the ones she's been in) know Page principally or exclusively for playing a pregnant teenager in "Juno." Everyone back when "Juno" came out thought the pregnant teen was a girl, and Page was a young woman. Now are we supposed to believe it was a man or someone without a sex who played that role, and the girl was the first pregnant transman? Amazing what a huge leap human evolution has made in just a few short years. /s

This pathetic jockeying for the limelight has gotten to the point that celebrities should start getting annual awards for the most attention-seeking ways of making use of gender identity idiocy. Sams Smiths would win the 2020 "AMAB" at birth prize, and Page would be a contender for the "AFAB" award. Just imagine the get-ups and all the posturing and preening on the red carpet. And the droning, ponderous, self-important speeches - they'd be priceless (in a hilarious way).

[–]ArthnoldManacatsaman 12 insightful - 7 fun12 insightful - 6 fun13 insightful - 7 fun -  (0 children)

The film is retroactively bigoted now.

You're telling me that after 33 years you discovered you're a mAn iNSiDe?

It's interesting that you mentioned that Page is 33 - she'll be 34 in February. Wonder if her epiphany and new identity has anything to do with the widely-held belief in Hollywood that 35 is when a female actor is washed up and beyond her "sell-by date"?

From what I can see, the woke and especially people who are TRAs tend not just to be incredibly misogynistic, but they're extremely and blatantly ageist too - and the worst of their ageism is directed squarely and solely at women. This cult is all about "girls" and hates women beyond a certain age.

Even Meryl Streep went through a very rough period in middle-age when the roles dried up and she felt she had to glam and sex herself up to make herself more marketable. It was only when Streep started playing roles of older women that her career caught fire again.

[–]purrvana 30 insightful - 6 fun30 insightful - 5 fun31 insightful - 6 fun -  (0 children)

There's a quote by Meryl where she says the year she turned 40 she received 3 different offers to play a witch.

[–]LeaveAmsgAfterBeep 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I’m 50% sure this is a publicist imposed idea, kind of like how a lot of female musicians claim to be bi and are not because their publishers told them it’d make male fans find them more interesting and make female fans think they have a chance or something.

[–]VioletRemi 46 insightful - 1 fun46 insightful - 0 fun47 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Literally 1 year ago she was saying that she is cool being woman and will always be staring as lesbian characters in movies. Not lasted long.

[–]MarkTwainiac 25 insightful - 1 fun25 insightful - 0 fun26 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

It seems that she switched her talent agency representation within the past year. Seems she has a new publicist too. Wonder if that has something to do with it.

[–]bopomofodojo 20 insightful - 1 fun20 insightful - 0 fun21 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I wouldn't doubt for a second that this is a calculated move from the talent agency and publicist. "Come out as trans now, you'll go up 8% in approval ratings among wokies and that will sell your next role". Also wonder how related this is to the backlash against Halle Berry, maybe Ellen cough sorry Elliot, just wants to play a transman in an upcoming movie and is concerned about the woke backlash. What better way around it than to just claim she's a man?

I'm sure there could be personal aspects to it as well. Maybe the Hollywood woke scene finally convinced her that she must really be a man since she doesn't like dick, who knows. Like everything about genderism, and cults in general, the motivations of the true believers and victims cannot truly be known.

When this shit falls out of fashion - either genderism or Page's career, whichever is first, I bet she'll be right back to boring lesbian Ellen Page.

[–]MezozoicGay 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Social impact and damage was still done, even if she make one movie and "detrans" back.

[–]questioningtw 29 insightful - 1 fun29 insightful - 0 fun30 insightful - 1 fun -  (11 children)

Back in the day you had to actually live as a mazn or a woman for like 6 months. This is actually sane. Now the minute you say you are a man or a woman, you are one! Who cares if she has literally been a woman for 33 years. She is a dude now because she says so. I don't know why ?I am so upset about this.

[–]MarkTwainiac 45 insightful - 1 fun45 insightful - 0 fun46 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

Back in the day you had to actually live as a mazn or a woman for like 6 months

But how does one "live as a man or a woman"? When people explain what that means, it's always just superficial things like clothing, hairstyles, grooming, voice, silly stereotypes - and of course trans persons' unwarranted belief that coz they dress or alter their body in certain ways, they are entitled to ride roughshod over other people's sex-based boundaries and rights, and "deserve" to use the toilets, changing rooms and other facilities and services and programs meant for the opposite sex.

I'm a retirement-age woman whose attire, grooming and affect are like most women past middle-age - which is to say, we are absolutely nothing at all like Blaire White, Contrapoints, Gigi Gorgeous or Ru Paul when in full drag in our appearance or affect. But by the regressively sexist standards of trans ideology, those males count more as women than we do - even though we're the the only ones who because of our female sex and our female bodies in a male-supremacist, misogynistic world have spent our entire lives dealing with a ton of issues and barriers that males - no matter how they "present" and how "girly" they think they look and act - have never faced, and never will face.

The whole ideology is sexist tosh based on cosplay, stereotypes, superficiality, fantasy and denial of material reality.

[–]questioningtw 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

Back when I was more of a libfem, I felt more bullied into accepting transwomen as women and I don't know, lately I have been getting more and more bothered by it. I am also tired of traswomen being hyperfeminine and ornamental, while of course transmen get to be people. It is extremely sexist to act like sex and gender are completely different.

[–]shveya 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

I was over libfems almost a decade before I even realized how sexist and regressive TRAs were. They were the first people to tell me that sexual preferences are wrong and that I don't have the right to turn down someone down for sex if they've had their genitals surgically altered. They live to grovel for men.

[–]questioningtw 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

I have seen TIFS complain about gay men rejecting them too. I thought feminism was about how no is a complete sentence.

[–]shveya 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

I've seen a lot of TiFs on reddit claim gay men are transphobic for not wanting them. I even read an interview with a TiF in London who would trick men in clubs into having sex with her.

[–]questioningtw 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

That is rape. People should be able to reject someone for any reason when it comes to the dating world.

[–]shveya 23 insightful - 1 fun23 insightful - 0 fun24 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

100% true, it's astonishing how many transpeople seem okay with rape by deception.

[–]EveSerpent 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Not really. Their whole lives are based on deception and entitlement to have everyone bend to what they want, irregardless of what anyone else wants.

[–]MarkTwainiac 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

In the UK, it's not rape, coz per UK law rape is penetration by a penis (a real one, attached to a male). What this TIF was doing was sex by deception.

[–]purrvana 54 insightful - 6 fun54 insightful - 5 fun55 insightful - 6 fun -  (8 children)

I really want to write my own letter and post it on my social media:

"I am pleased to announce that I identify as a woman. Yes, I was born female and although growing up was difficult, I am now secure in my womanhood. This is really scary though because being a woman comes with risks. Over 1600 women are killed a year in the US. Women are more likely to be trafficked and assualted sexually. The statistics are staggering. Discrimination against women is rife, as we're often called 'cervix-havers' or 'uterus-owners' and denied sex-based spaces, but I hope to endure despite this discrimination. I'm proud to be a woman and I embrace fully who I am. To all the women who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I hear you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better."

[–]MarkTwainiac 31 insightful - 1 fun31 insightful - 0 fun32 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Over 1600 women are killed a year in the US

Uh, no - you're undercounting by half. According to the FBI, the number of people who die of homicide in the US each is usually around 3,200.

In 2016, the number of female homicide victims in the US was 3,208.

https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2016/crime-in-the-u.s.-2016/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-1.xls

In 2017, 3,222 female people died of homicide in the US.

https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-1.xls

In 2018, 3,180 female people died in the US by homicide.

https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2018/crime-in-the-u.s.-2018/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-1.xls

In 2019, 2,991 females died of homicide in the US. (However, this is a preliminary number; the FBI's final reports on 2019 stats are not out yet.)

Thanks for correcting me. I found it weirdly difficult to find accurate stats simply by googling. I'm not American so I wasn't sure what site to go to.

[–]MarkTwainiac 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

For US stats, the FBI is the place to go. They publish comprehensive reports with tons of tables every year.

Can you tell me where you got the 1600 figure from when you googled? I've seen it elsewhere recently, on Mumsnet for example. But since I'm one of the many women banned from there for not showing deference to men who claim to be women, I couldn't post a correction. Thanks.

[–]purrvana 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I found the 1600 figure in a few places including a Guardian article and I'm guessing it comes from here where it says ~1600 is the average number of women killed by intimate partners.

[–]MarkTwainiac 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Thank you.

it says ~1600 is the average number of women killed by intimate partners.

They key phrase there is "intimate partners." Pretending that the number of female people killed each year = the number of women killed by intimate partners leaves out half the female homicide victims in the US in any given year. Fact is, whilst intimate partner killings account for a lot of the homicides of females, they sure don't account for all! In fact, these killings only account for half of female homicide deaths in the US each year.

About 10-12% of females who die of homicide in the US annually are killed not by people the girls or women were ever intimate partners with, but by a range of people, including total strangers, acquaintances, co-workers, neighbors, carers, men who just got sight of their victims somewhere and stalked them, johns in the case of prostitutes, and indiscriminate mass killers including terrorists, serial killers, and shooters who on a fairly regular basis in the US rain bullets into schools, workplaces, malls, places of worship and other public gatherings.

In any given year, at least 35% of homicides in the US (and countries such as the UK) have no known suspects, so it's not known if they were killed by intimate partners or someone else. The remainder of females who die of homicide in the US each year are killed by their parents or one of their parent's BFs, by their children (particularly sons), or by other family members such as brothers or various relatives acting together in cases of familial "honor killings" amongst certain subcultures in the US population.

Whatever the relationship - or lack of one - between females in the US who die of homicide and their killers, these girls and women are almost always killed by males. From decades of investigating and study, we know that males in the US commit 91% of all homicides, and nearly 100% killers of female people are male. Females commit only 2% of killings in which the victims are female.

[–]Shesstealthy 48 insightful - 1 fun48 insightful - 0 fun49 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

And how are readers supposed to know who Elliot Page is and why he's in the news if they don't??

This deadnaming thing is nuts. The prohibition on it was supposed to be to protect trans people from abuse and being tracked down by hateful family etc. Ellen Page has a substantial body of work under that name.

I mean even Poppy Z Brite sticks with that name instead of Billy Martin for writing. Because they aren't completely deluded.

[–]MarkTwainiac 36 insightful - 6 fun36 insightful - 5 fun37 insightful - 6 fun -  (6 children)

Also, the gender identity crowd think seem to think they are the first people who ever used different names to the ones given at birth. When people have been doing this for eons for various reasons. Archibald Leach became Cary Grant. Ralph Lifschitz became Ralph Lauren. The Bronte sisters published as Currer (Charlotte), Ellis (Emily) and Acton (Anne) Bell. And so on.

This is not new! What is new is thinking that by uttering the magic words "I am trans," a person's whole past is erased in a puff of woke and it's now a faux pas, indeed in some jurisdictions a criminal act, for anyone else to mention it and your previous name.

Which is so dumb because then nobody would click because Elliot Page is a nobody. Gender traitor that one. I love pointing out how she rapes a man in a super hero film. So, clearly a trans man 🙄. She's also popular because she played a teen mom. Wonder if Juno gets a dick...

Legit just came here to post this. I feel like a pit has opened up in my stomach. I really loved how she was contributing to gender non-forming expression and just so many different aspects of her, including her lesbian status, made me respect her so much. We were the same height, too!

Now I feel even more alone, and I can't help but feel this is going to snowball for others as well in terms of what they are questioning and how they perceive the trans movement as whole.

Edit: I believe that although I felt this way, I might have misworded this a bit and that this is also a misconception! Please read MarkTwaniac's below comment edit for how Ellen comes off in a presenting sense.

[–]Liz-B-Anne 27 insightful - 1 fun27 insightful - 0 fun28 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Same. I'm going off on Twitter. The hashtag "TERFs" and related things are trending so don't back down if you have an account there. We can't let these fuckers win. This is the most heteronormative, misogynistic and HOMOPHOBIC movement since the Republican party married the Christian evangelicals in the '80s.

[–]MarkTwainiac 33 insightful - 1 fun33 insightful - 0 fun34 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I wonder if this announcement was timed to take attention away from the announcement today of the UK court's unanimous ruling that kids under 16 can't consent to puberty blockers to treat "gender dysphoria," and that from now on UK clinicians will have to go to court for permission to prescribe them to any minor 16 and over. This puts a big crimp in the international kiddie-transing juggernaut.

[–]slushpilot 18 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 0 fun19 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's also conveniently timed well with Canada's reading of Bill C-6 on criminalizing "conversion therapy" according to the newer definition including gender identity.

Page is Canadian and the CBC of course had the story covered right away.

Was she gender non-conforming?

[–]MarkTwainiac 33 insightful - 1 fun33 insightful - 0 fun34 insightful - 1 fun -  (21 children)

She always struck me as a young woman who looked and sounded pretty much like a zillion other women of all sexual orientations. Beyond her being an out lesbian, for which I wholeheartedly supported her, there was nothing that ever seemed particularly "gender non-conforming" about her look or affect that I noticed. But then I'm of the Annie Lennox generation, so I confess I don't really get all this current hyper-focus on gender presentation.

[–]Sistersovermisters 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (18 children)

I don't know, maybe as a personal experience and how I viewed her, she was definitely not very feminine by my standards, or in my family (when they would watch movies with her, they would comment on it often). And I totally understand where you are coming from with the Annie Lennox generation! I really wish it wasn't a big deal.....I really do.

Like, to me, it felt as if Ellen Paige wasn't making it a huge deal, which made me feel great for just dressing however and it not being a big deal at all. I think I've been essentially nudged into being concerned about gender presentation due to familial standards and whatnot. When in all-honesty, I just wanted to normalize just being comfortable with myself. (Edited a small detail on my original comment, hopefully that helps a little!)

[–]MarkTwainiac 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (12 children)

It wasn't your comment I was taking issue with. Not at all. I was responding to the other poster who asked if Page really was "gender non-conforming" (whatever that's supposed to mean). She always came off to me like many other girls or women, not particularly fussed with appearance and not concerned with constantly thinking in terms of "feminine" and "masculine."

Edit: sistersovermisters, see my post below. I just did an image search of Page. I think you'd find it worthwhile do the same. Neither in the past or now has Page ever been in the habit of "presenting" in a way that is at all extraordinary for women in North America outside of a few relatively rare fundamentalist religious communities (Hasidic Jews, the Amish, some strict Mormons). In Saudi Arabia, Iran or Pakistan, yes Page might stand out as different in appearance on the streets/in public - but in the vast majority of NA, as well as in Europe and Australia and New Zealand, no.

[–]just_lesbian_things 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

who asked if Page really was "gender non-conforming" (whatever that's supposed to mean)

It means I don't see how she is notably gender non-conforming. Like you said, she looks like a fairly "stereotypical" woman, and a fairly attractive one at that, being an actress and all.

[–]MinisterOfTerfery 42 insightful - 1 fun42 insightful - 0 fun43 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

What is going on is that people have realized they will get more support and love if they are trans than if they are a gay gender non conforming woman. Netflix is already saying they will incorporate this in The Umbrella Academy. When has HW ever bended itself backwards for women like that? They don't even give a shit when actresses get harassed on set

It is the hot new trend. 30 years ago, a famous man dressing in women's clothes wouldn't land him a magazine cover; now Harry Styles does it and it is some amazeballs moment is social history.

30 years ago, a famous man dressing in women's clothes wouldn't land him a magazine cover;

Maybe not 30 years ago, but 37 years ago in 1983 Dustin Hoffman dressed in women's clothes for the movie "Tootsie" was featured on many magazine covers, including People.

The entertainment world has been enamored with male cross-dressers, female impersonators, drag queens and transvestites and transsexuals for decades: from "Some Like It Hot" in 1959 to "Myra Breckenridge," Corporal Klinger, "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "The World According to Garp" in the 60s & 70s, to "Tootsie" in the 80s to "The Crying Game," "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" and "Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar" in the 90s, lots of book, film & TV characters and photos spreads of men dressed as women have paved the way for the current trend that's become overblown and inescapable today.

If she was aware from the beginning, then I presume she's ok with it. If she found out recently and is ok with it it, then that's her choice. If she found out recently and is all "hey, I married a woman, not a man" and has any self respect, she should start packing her stuff and nope on outta there b/c this almost never ends well.

Yeah, those are all possible outcomes depending on the circumstances. Someone on Twitter suggested a likelihood that she could join her partner in identifying as trans, and they’d become Hollywood’s ~gay trans power couple~.

It's hard to nail down precisely why I think this, but I suspect that Emma Portman, Ellen Page's wife, who is younger, may have had something to do with Page's decision to transition. Maybe it's that her reaction seems so . . . triumphant rather than someone who's been blindsided.

I would also not be surprised if Portman also transitioned and that they would insist that everyone call them a gay male trans couple.

[–]Finnegan7921 15 insightful - 4 fun15 insightful - 3 fun16 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

But wouldn't they then just be two gay men ? TMAM, amirite ? Oh wait, that wouldn't be speshul enough for the wokerati.

And it happened few hours after Keira Bell, and all news jumped from discussing Keira and UK legislations into praising Page. Diversion?

I am really sad and depressed from Page transition, she not even changed to "he/him" but to "he/they" - anything but woman. She was an icon for many young lesbians, last young lesbian big actress. And what example she is showing to young lesbians? That you can't run from homophobia even as rich lesbian and best way to fight it is to become "straight man"?

Also, watch her do nothing more than dress a little more butch, cut the hair, ditch any and all makeup and LARP as a man. Probably wont do hormones or surgery, but will get cast in trans roles.

[–]MinisterOfTerfery 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

If she wants to play male roles she will have transition, no one is going to want to hire someone with an obviously female voice as a male character

[–]YoungHustle 21 insightful - 4 fun21 insightful - 3 fun22 insightful - 4 fun -  (3 children)

Good luck finding a male role for someone 5’0” and 100 lbs. There’s a reason she’s been cast as a pregnant teenage girl, a woman passing as a kid, and other diminutive roles.

Time to reboot Peter Pan. Or Seabiscuit.

In the movie version of Peter Pan I recall - the one from 1960 - Peter was played by a grown woman, Mary Martin, who was 47 at the time!

Course they will. Nothing better than trans representation that is still heavily clear that she's a hot woman underneath

Growing up lesbian Ellen page was such an inspiration.. the coming out speech was huge to me and that they didn’t care how they looked or dressed and now they’re trans. I’m honestly just heartbroken. Every gender non conforming woman including my own partner is now non binary or trans

[–]fuckupaddams 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Every gender non conforming woman including my own partner is now non binary or trans

Have you ever had a real conversation with your partner and asked her why? Or do you just swallow your disappointment?

[–][deleted] 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

My partner is non binary, honestly their answer is exactly like everyone elses "I dont feel male or female" but we've had a lot of conversations about gender roles and things like that and they've admitted it has a lot to do with gender roles. In the east in the country I grew up in there are no real gender roles tbh so all my gay and lesbian friends just see their sex as their sex and how they live their life is according to no expectations. They understand that I think gender is a massive social construct that encourages gender roles.

[–]slushpilot 19 insightful - 1 fun19 insightful - 0 fun20 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

"I dont feel male or female"

I never understood what this means. How do people come to believe this is some kind of feeling that you're expected to have? We don't say this about any of our other physical attributes...

[–]fuckupaddams 18 insightful - 3 fun18 insightful - 2 fun19 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

"I don't feel like I have brown eyes or green eyes" Just... Look in the mirror?

[–]bopomofodojo 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's a cope that's been bashed into their heads: "you don't like the stereotypical gender roles for your sex" = "you must not be that gender", so if you "don't like" both sets of extreme stereotypical gender roles, you're "non-binary". No, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever unless you drink that particular Kool-Aid, which is in vast supply. This is why the trans movement is extraordinarily regressive despite its constant proclamations of progressivism.

[–]Liz-B-Anne 29 insightful - 1 fun29 insightful - 0 fun30 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

We're losing our already tiny pool of lesbians to the trans cult, that's what's going on. Those who don't marry men now feel the need to BECOME them. Does anyone know how fucking depressing it is to be lesbian in 2020? Do they care? No, because we're just seen as a goddamn fetish for the world. At least gay men generally are secure in their identities as males who love males. Women are so vulnerable to this type of shit. Ugh.

Hope she enjoys having an even tinier dating pool than me tho. Good luck with that.

It's been a long time since she had any buzz around her, and her Oscar nomination in Juno was undoubtedly the peak of her career. It's been a long downhill slide since then. Being lesbian is no longer interesting enough to get the press to cover you, so what's a fella to do?

Incidentally, I wonder if that means she'll only be auditioning for male roles from now on?

[–]bradjohnsonishere2 23 insightful - 1 fun23 insightful - 0 fun24 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Young GNC lesbians will have no one to look up to. I would be trans growing up in today's society...

[–][deleted] 20 insightful - 2 fun20 insightful - 1 fun21 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

When I was a teen, I almost bought into the trans ideology and thought I was a man, before realizing that being more "masculine" doesn't make me a man; I am a woman and always will be. So yes, this trans stuff really will ruin future GNC generations.

[–]just_lesbian_things 16 insightful - 2 fun16 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

The top reply under her 'coming out' tweet is about protecting 'him' from 'transphobes and terfs'. When is this gonna stop? Like honestly when are we gonna get to the same point with transgenderism as we did with lobotomies? It's starting to feel like gender bullshit gonna be a permanent stain on humanity like sexism and racism.

The Hollywood clown car rumbles on...just watch the celebrity virtue signalers grovel to her on twitter. It will be hysterical as they try to out do one another and the TRA's hapr on misuse of pronouns b/c, misusing those is a form of assault.

[–]Skipdip 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

[–]SharpTomorrow 26 insightful - 1 fun26 insightful - 0 fun27 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

unfortunately, this will also make some young LGB feel like they have to transition to exist or get attention. I respect E. Page's choice, but this is terrible from a community standpoint.

[–]just_lesbian_things 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

If people being stupid makes you want to do stupid things to get attention, then you're well beyond salvation anyway. Plenty of people grew up without good role models.

[–]Skipdip 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah itll probably get worse before it gets better. It’s really sad what this thing is doing to women, and she is such a role model in the LGB world. I feel sad as a gnc L myself, to lose another to this pernicious gender stuff. Oh well!

The thing to remember is that at the end of the day people just want connection. They will do whatever they feel it takes to get it.

In the Tweet, Page cited a statistic that 40 or more trans woman had been killed this year alone. Page then made this comment:

"Enough is enough. You aren't being 'cancelled,' you are hurting people. I am one of those people and we won't be silent in the face of your attacks,"

I seriously doubt that even one of those trans people was killed by a woman let alone murdered because the perpetrator had GC opinions. In fact, I'm going to take it as a certainty that every trans person in that statistic was either killed by men or by other trans persons. Furthermore i think it likely that most of the trans people there weren't killed because they were trans, rather they were killed for the same reasons that anti-social males kill other men and women all the time.

Hence why sane men and women don't want to forfeit women's protections and spaces to possibly violent males.

The way Page is trying to link anti-social male violence to women being GC is so disingenuous it's actually pretty sociopathic. It's such an obviously incorrect assertion that you have to at some level recognise that you're lying.

What the fuck happened to the human species.

[–]jet199 18 insightful - 3 fun18 insightful - 2 fun19 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

I'm actually not surprised.

I think people need to realise that there's a lot of targeting of famous people behind the scenes by TRA, much like scientology does.

Also she isn't doing much right now and this will keep her in the public eye.

[–]VioletRemi 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Why it always gay men or lesbian women? There no famous young lesbian actresses left anymore. There are some, but they are mostly only were cast in TV series and not much known.

Is is a good subsaidit and thread to say Umbrella Academy has always been misogynistic garbage?

"The Umbrella Academy is set in a universe where 43 women around the world give birth simultaneously on October 1, 1989, despite none of them showing any sign of pregnancy until labor began. Seven of the children are adopted by eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves..."

So, supposedly, one in six women is ok with selling her baby.

Netflix loves transing homosexual couples. Seems this time they transed actress instead.

[–]Sunflowerdevyl 19 insightful - 1 fun19 insightful - 0 fun20 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

GNC lesbian in Hollywood is getting less attention as she ages and a new fad comes in. I would assume that outside Umbrella Academy, she's not getting the work she wants and needed to put herself in the limelight.

I just hard the news. I don't usually care if celebs go trans, but for some reason, this felt like a punch to the gut. I looked up to Ellen for so long... I honestly can't believe it.

Lesbian was a large part of Ellen Page's public identity so you're not wrong to feel disappointed. She made a big deal about coming out as a lesbian, hosted a gay travel program and got teary eyed about homophobia on a few chat shows.
