Now I know it seems a tad small but this has me genuinely fucking mad. It was one of the first mainstream gay romances and also tackled alot of the difficult emotions that come with accepting yourself. It was the first big bits of representation, or it seemed that way to me. Fuck off with the "trans romance" shit already and just let us at least have this one thing.

lol wut? Theirs one glaring issue here and it's very obvious. "he" missed Mulan's entire motivation. Mulan did it to save her father from dying at the blade of a Mongol because she was utterly committed to family first and foremost. there is no "dysphoria" because she would've never run to the army if her father was healthy or if she had a brother of age.

You certainly aren't the only one out there. The whole thing just seems deeply homophobic with it's use of terms like "genital preferences" and how we need to "work on that". Almost all of it is just the old homophobia with one or two words changed. The ideology just seems like conversion therapy but now inclusive™

Those ideas are a great start. the obvious one that pops out to me but a lot of us really can't do much about is decriminalization of homosexuality. Those of us in the west, myself included, take for granted that we can be who we are and love who we love in relative safety. Sadly for the majority of the world that's just not the case. There are still what? 77 countries where it's illegal to be gay? I know a lot of us really aren't in a position to change that but we really should be at least spreading awareness to people who might be able to.

I thought gender was a social construct? And if it is, then gender would have absolutely 0% to do with biology. Genderfluid just seems like someone who is sick of gender roles but at the same time too steeped in them to even try to get rid of them. Without gender roles, there is no genderfluid. So no, it is not. If anything it's just someone who feels that they need to fit VERY stereotypical roles

[–]Willpoll 20 insightful - 1 fun20 insightful - 0 fun21 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think it might be because the tras who "become gay" and say stuff like "genital preferences" really fetishize being gay because it's this special thing to them. I think that's because unlike straight relationships, The vast majority of easy to access representation of homosexual relationships, especially online, is usually crap like porn while with straight relationships you see generally a greater mix sexualized and "normal" content out there. So I think trans people who are "straight" are more likely to not expect a more sexualized atmosphere in straight relationships from what they see online.

The only possible explanation I can come up with is that the people who unironically use the term genital preference simply cannot comprehend the basic concept of trauma/repulsion to a certain set of genitals. Like they cannot for the life of themselves wrap their mind around the fact that some people just can't do vag or can't do dick.

I think there's some legitimate trans people and I couldn't care less how they go about their day. The problem is, the TRAS are poisoning the well. Empathy is at best an extremely limited commodity. It's very hard to go about your day feeling OK with them when you have people in their camp saying things like "oh, your genital preference is phobic" or "you owe your rights to a trans person". Ironically, one of the most left leaning demographics are doing a great job at parroting the christian right's talking points. And I know it's not all trans people who do this, but sadly its the vocal minority who does, and then their allies go right ahead and join in on it. In any group it doesn't matter what the majority does really, it matters what the vocal do. I was fine with them until they started trying to bring back the stigma and hatred we fought for centuries to get rid of.

First off, let me get it out of the way that it doesn't matter if they were right as we still deserve the same rights and accessibility as everyone else. It's like the first amendment. Freedom of speech will of course eventually lead to some wack jobs going crazy but that does not erode the legitimacy of free speech.

While LGB will be blamed for the crap going on with the TQ but the action of said blame is like blaming the dog for a parasite latching on. I really think that the TQ crap would've developed at maybe just a slightly lesser pace even without the landmark of legalized same sex marriage. After all, at least to me it seems like it really sprung up in the early 2010s. In my opinion our struggle was coopted after major wins in the west. Remember, we're not at across the board bestiality yet. We still have time to prove them wrong and I know we will

If someone dose not disclose trans status to their partner it is most definitely rape by deception imo. While the dude may be dating what is effectively another dude, then he's probably bi, but I wouldn't push the issue too much, but hey that's just my 2 cents

Nobodies insinuating that really. or at least that isn't the intention. The critique obviously doesn't apply if people realize that all the shit that goes on in yaoi begins and ends on the page/screen. The problem is that theirs a very vocal amount of people who don't understand that.

first of all wouldn't it be a implant? since, you know, the female body wasn't designed to have a penis? Which of course brings up the next logical step, what if the body rejects the implant? also that's a fucking huuuuuugggggggeeeeeeeeee price tag. for the actual male who's had the surgery the cost was 300,000 to 400,000 dollars for crying out loud. I could use that kind of money to go on a very fancy vacation or hell, buy a goddamn house! Also the article does cover that lifetime immunosuppression is needed for this to work otherwise the penis is just outright rejected by the host body. Finally however, it's still the same as a phalloplasty besides the fact it looks better and can get hard. It's not like their sewing in the whole shebang. is that really worth almost half a million????

queer is such a disgusting word that really should have no place in this day and age. And of course it's usually the same people with the homophobic "genital preference" shit that use it to describe themselves. Either that or uninformed somewhat sheltered people. As for "faggot" people have already taken it upon themselves to "reclaim" it :(

  1. Not too much changes beyond hopefully less of the queer theory bullshit being pushed into the mind of the public
  2. In the majority of the world it is still criminalized to be gay. We need to change that and hopefully nab marriage rights on the way.
  3. well my personal hope is that the group becomes less commercialized and more of an actual community as a whole
  4. LGB groups should definitely stick together even after it seems we've won equal rights worldwide. While the laws on the book may allow us to exist, personal bigotry is never going to go away. there needs to be a support network for kids who's parents will hate them, or for people going through hard break ups, or just all sorts of things.
  5. Not much except that I hope yall have a good day!

Out of pocket in the US, PrEP at least used to cost like close to two thousand bucks a month which is crazy, especially with the emphasis in the US about being "open minded" when it comes to sex and people with stds.

SRS on the other hand has a starting cost of about 15K but usually ranges closer to 25k or about one thousand dollars more then a years worth of PrEP by US standards. However you also have to crunch the numbers on HRT which I think has a median rate of around 15 thousand dollars. so that's around 40K for the full treatment minus facial reconstruction.

However most people paying for PrEP will be likely receiving some help whether it be from the gov, job benefits, or health insurance. The PrEP market is delayed gratification for big pharma while full srs gets you all the money at once

edit: it's two thousand bucks a month for PrEP, not two thousand a year

It really depends on how it is done. If the characters just an overused stereotype or just dropped in there for the politics sake. Like say including someone who's demigender or whatever the newest craze is now. If the character is written well and the story benefits then it's fine. At least that's my take on it
