When I posted there I got unwanted comments about my femininity and how I should take testosterone (totally ignoring the fact that would most likely fuck up my health) because I "needed to become a real man to be happy." So I don't think that's entirely true. Seemed to me they had a bit of a masculinity obsession over there.

There's always been a pretty large percentage of men on AGB who will state directly that they are not interested in trans men when the question comes up. I don't know what the crossover is between gaybros and droptheT, but I think it's pretty substantial. It will be interesting to see if it continues to blow up on AGB, and I wonder about the extent to which r/lgbt members are brigading r/askgaybros.

Yep, there was one larger thread where someone posted about "trans-exclusionary" spaces being banned and how gay men should just deal with it. Over half of the comments were opposing the OP and saying gay men assuredly DO need their own spaces away from trans people. Even some trans men were saying the TQ crowd is dominating LGB people. Anyone that opposed the TQs though were labeled as "imposters" who were "invading" AGB after DropTheT got banned.

When we step back from all of their hot air, it really is so simple. Biology matters. Transmen are women that take testosterone.

They were born, grew up and were/are socialized as women. They still have female genitalia. Testosterone did not magically turn them into men. They did not grow a penis. Sexuality matters. It is the core of all humans. We can’t force ourselves to be sexually and emotionally attracted to what we are not.

This is homophobia pure and simple. We know who we are, even if in the beginning of our journey we were scared and wished that we were straight.

No one has the right to ignore our biology and our sexuality. That is what the TRAS are telling us to do.

I have not really been around gay men since several very close friends passed during the AIDS crisis. Never did any of them refer to themselves as femme. I may be assuming, but did this come about with the advent of the TRAS?

For lesbians, some of us refer to ourselves as femme, butch or androgynous (or anywhere on the spectrum). I had no idea gay men did that, too.
