You can like watching Yaoi , and still think of gay man as human beings , and still understand that reality is not like that

The whole 'make him trans/put a vagina on him' is very typical of trans men who like yaoi. And you'd think they'd hide their fetishism and pervy motivations for transitioning a little better but no. They delude themselves into thinking 'I find gay guys hot and wanna be a gay boy so I'm totes True Trans uwu'. Not to mention all the trans spaces tell them those are 'signs you're trans'.

The Alpha/Beta/Omega shit...tentacle rape porn..."loli/shota" (pedophilia)...anime was a mistake.

I have now learned way more about anime than I ever wanted to. I know that not everyone who consumes anime is a creep but there is so much creepiness among anime that being an anime fan would be a huge red flag for me in a partner. I’d rather be on the safe side and be over-exclusive (inclusive?) and just not deal with it at all.

If I can say something you can watch anime , yaoi , Yuri or even like Loli’s and not be a creep , a pedophile , or a pervert, maybe you like cute things , maybe you think some type of relationships are cuter , but still see reality and the real counterparts as human beings not everyone is a total weeb

I understand that but it’s still far away from anything I’m attracted to. Even and especially the “cute aspect,” particularly within my age demographic. But plenty of people are, so I’ll let those people find each other.

i used to read yuri, but a lot of it just got creepy. like there was always stories about sisters having sex and some were set in middle school settings so your talking about 12yr old sisters. recently there was a yuri that involved one girl vomiting and being made to eat it. some in the comments showed disgust but others were criticizing them for "kink shaming", yes, apparently vomiting and eating said vomit is someones kink and you shouldn't put it down and of course, many of the commentators who said this was "kink shaming" had trans flag in their profile pic.

[–][deleted] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

omg yes! I think I would like yuri but for the fact that like 80%-90% is about high schoolers, there is frequently incest (or sort-of incest...), and lots of them sneakily have the girls have sex with a guy who just appears out of nowhere. Also the watermelon breasts. I'm not into shaming people for their sexual interests because I don't think that helps anyone, but I can definitely judge them :p I don't think there is anything wrong with liking porn about BDSM for example, but I definitely think that the people who are into it have an unhealthy relationship with affection and abuse / pain.

They gave a shout out to Sailormoon. Hmm hmm hmm.

This was a funny video. I actually used to be into yaoi as a kid and tween because they had more developing stories. However, as I began to adjust and come to my own sexuality, I lost interest in yaoi once I entered high school and started watching shoujo-ai/yuri.

My taste from fanfiction went from Naruto x Sasuke and Harry Potter x Draco Malfoy to Tenten x Tamari and Hermonie x Ginny as I got older.

I had no idea Hinata x Sakura was popular. Currently now, I like shipping Sarada(Sasuke's daughter) with Kieri.

My comment is random but the video is worth watching. It's hilarious and calls out problematic behavior.

Ok, I'm sure that's a lovely breakdown or something but I don't have it in me to watch a long video about creepy-as-fuck fetishism. Anyone want to take one for the team and TLDR?

[–]artetolife 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

TL;DR: yaoi is fucked up and so is the fandom. That's really the only point being made.

I had to watch/listen while folding laundry to take off the edge. It’s not too long of a video though because I still have a lot of laundry to put away lol.

I would summarize it as: yaoi fans have escaped a lot of scrutiny but they’re even creepier than fans of hentai, Lolita (if Loli is short for that), and just as bad as yuri (which I just learned is the lesbian equivalent) because yaoi combines all of the worst elements, plots, trends, etc. of all those other creepy and fetishizing fandoms (incest, pedophilia, tentacle stuff, bestiality, pregnancy fetishization, fetishizing of homosexual relationships, rape, all of the above) together. And that yaoi fans are even more out of touch than the other creepy fandoms because they’re obsessed with wanting to recreate it in real life with themselves (hence the countless screenshots of comments on yaoi videos about how the girls want to become gay men so bad and how they would make the best gay men).

Gotcha, that sounds like one of the most distinctive factors. I feel like AGP and the fetishization of lesbians by straight men is more broadly known and talked about than women fetishizing gay men. Maybe a bit of the "women are wonderful" benevolent sexism effect-- "oh, women would never do that (fetishize gay men), they're women" when really we are all just human beings and it absolutely is a pattern going on.

You haver never seen the Yuri reddit subs then. Like 90% of members are transbians and straight men on their way to become transbians. Lot's of trans grooming and insanity.

I'm relaying the message in the video. I don't pay attention to anime at all. And I think the video essentially equated yaoi and yuri but said that yaoi fans don't get enough scrutiny so they were called out specifically.

So? Does that make me a fujoshi? I enjoy yaoi, all the hardcore stuff. Apparently that makes me someone who doesn't understand the difference between reality and fiction?

Oh, oh, I know: let's apply it to videogames too. Let's get GTA5, one of the most best-selling videogames of the era, banned because it's popular among preteens. And, by your logic, it surely teaches kids to run over pedestrians and sell drugs.

[–]Willpoll 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Nobodies insinuating that really. or at least that isn't the intention. The critique obviously doesn't apply if people realize that all the shit that goes on in yaoi begins and ends on the page/screen. The problem is that theirs a very vocal amount of people who don't understand that.

[–][deleted] 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

You know, I find the weird yaoi stuff really weird but I don't care that people like it. So long as they have boundaries, don't objectify, or transition into gay men because they think liking yaoi makes them a gay man then I'm good. It's just porn. It's like straight men liking lesbian porn, I don't care— it's double the women so double the fun for them I guess, but expecting lesbians to sleep with them would be taking too far.

This is just what happens when you allow 14 years old to make life-altering decisions......

If you're a woman who like yaoi, then yes, you're a fujoshi. Fujoshi is a term used for girls/women who enjoy yaoi/BL. The majority of transmen might be fujoshi, but the majority of fujoshi understand that yaoi is fiction. At least that's how it is in Asia; I'm not sure about yaoi fandom in the west though.

The difference is that everyone knows crimes and violence (when not used in sex) are wrong, but people give a free pass to anything as long as it's a kink. Porn is full of fucked up shit, including violence and racism, but anyone who criticizes it gets called a prude. And there are several instances of people imitating porn, why do you think anal, BDSM and choking have become so popular?

And there are several instances of people imitating porn, why do you think anal, BDSM and choking have become so popular?

Because people can finally openly admit they have those kinks.

By the way, are you quite sure everyone knows crimes and violence are wrong?

[–]GoValidateYourselfuseful lesbian 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

People's brains also get conditioned and warped by porn. Unless you think porn has no influence on people's sex fantasies? Do you seriously think extreme acts like choking and bdsm were practiced by cavemen? Or by people living in the Middle Ages, or hell, even 100 years ago?

[–]QueenBread 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Unless you think porn has no influence on people's sex fantasies?

Buddy, you're confusing cause and effect.

Porn didn't teach me BDSM. I first looked for BDSM porn because I was into that from the beginning.

[–]GoValidateYourselfuseful lesbian 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I'm not confusing them at all. You probably had real relationships and experiences that made you realize you enjoyed bdsm. I'm talking about the teenagers being exposed to hardcore stuff before they have any real experiences, and believing that it's a normal and expected part of sex. Think about how many straight women complain about their boyfriends randomly choking them during sex, because they thought that was part of it. I'm not talking about you.

[–]QueenBread 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Agreed, porn can create a messed up perception of sex. However..... it's a bit like with other things: if you can't discern reality from fiction, chances are you'll end up doing something stupid even if you didn't watch porn. I do understand your point however, and it's true.

[–]GoValidateYourselfuseful lesbian 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

That's true, it all depends on the individual and their personality. I think in general teenagers and people under 25 have a harder time discerning reality and fiction, b/c their brains aren't fully matured. That's a generalization, but probably true for a good chunk of teens. I noticed it when I was a teen on tumblr and AL, people talking about fandom changing the world, and social norms coming out of the stories people consume. I really think a lot of teens have trouble with this. I think it causes a lot of mental health problems too. I don't know what the solution is.

[–]QueenBread 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I disagree: even when I was a little kid, I had no trouble discerning reality from fiction. I have a theory that the reason it seems like it's teens and people under 25 who don't distinguish reality from fiction, is not because of their age..... but because of the culture they grew up with. When -I- was a teen, gender indoctrination wasn't a thing, nor were we raised with the belief that what we think and want is more important than any factual reality.

Heck, if I were a preteen in this day and age, and in the USA, I might be at risk of having a "trans phase" myself. Only because I'm not "conventionally" feminine and I have an assertive personality that's more socially considered as a quality of men than of women.
