"female is the default sex", that everyone starts as female, until some hormones wash over them in the womb and some of the females become males.

LMAO, wtf was the writer smoking. If not for witnessing all kind of weird bullshit on the net, I wouldn't be able to believe anybody sober and educated could write this.

Ask them what actually triggers, happens during and the hormones involved in the mentioned "hormone wash" and at what stage of pregnancy does this "hormone wash" happens. And where are legit peer reviewed in-depth studies on this topic?

Also, in the hormone wash our ovaries will descend and will become testicles.

Hold on, what happened to the womb then?

My sleepy eyes read this as "Stonewall horror book". Looks like my eyes weren't that wrong, the points you mentioned are horrifying.

how is this an award winning book?

I wonder why too. Trans writers get their trash books published and nominated for awards. Some of the books even blatantly have lines about how much they fetishisize the sex they're attempting to become. The juries must have chugged woke kool-aid so much their brains stopped working.

Short men can be cute and it can be a positive IMO, but I don’t think many straight women feel that way about short men.

I dated a shorter guy once. I didn't mind his height, instead he was the one who felt bothered and emasculated by my height lol. My straight male friends won't consider dating taller women, even the ones they find attractive.

While there are women who won't date shorter men, the opposite can also be true: straight men don't usually want to date taller women.

it's much more harder to find women that actually enjoy women for who they are (their whole body) than dudes who accept dudes as who they are. why is there such a gap ? it just looks like women can't love themselves enough to be actually chill.

I find it frustrating as well. It's hard to love ourselves when the society tell us we're not good enough. Women are expected to wear makeup (our natural makeup-free face isn't good enough somehow), shamed for being not curvy, shamed for being curvy, shamed for being flat-chested, harassed for having big breasts, being called sl*t for being sexually adventurous, being called prude for being sexually reserved, etc. Women are stuck between a rock and a hard place. We're capable of loving ourselves and not giving a fuck to what society expects us to be, but it takes a lot to reach that point.

women are just fine the way they are.

YES! I wish more women would come to this conclusion!

As SailorMoon2020 mentioned, there are all kinds of weird sub cultures in Japan. Generally, though, being an adult anime fan is something seen as shameful by Japanese society. Most Japanese I know has separate accounts on social media for their private and their anime related contents (such as cosplay or indie manga they produce) because it's not a good look, unless they're working in manga/anime related sector.

Maybe because of societal pressure and culture, there are some glaring difference between Japanese audience and weebs. Not to say there aren't similarities though!

When did you peak over "mainstream" feminism? by JustWhy in GenderCritical

[–]YoutiaoLover 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

But somehow feminism becomes more normalized the more it drifts away from actual women's benefit and more towards men's.

The word "feminism" still isn't popular in my country (in SE Asia) because of this. There are women who we celebrate as national heroes (heroines?) for dedicating their lives fighting for women's rights, but we don't call them "feminists" ever. I have never met any local woman who call herself a feminist. SWIW, legalizing prostitution and extreme kinks under the guise of women's sexual empowerment only make feminism's bad rep worse.

Culturally, mainstream "feminism" isn't gonna fly here, unless for some people who think anything that comes from the west is superior. I'd say our view about women's rights pretty much aligned with radfem.

I just wonder if maybe I said something triggering by accident that made him go off? I don't know if I should apologize or what happened?

Maybe he wants to distance from the image gay=feminine that he had a strong reaction to it? Just like your brothers and partners, a lot of non gays think gay men are feminine. I don't think you should apologize though. It's not like you told him to wear makeup. You just expressed your opinion and there's nothing wrong with that!

In particular, when it's political, I may mention something briefly, and then they think I agree with EVERYTHING they say. It's tiring.

Uh, this. A lot of times I don't want people to misunderstand me but just thinking of refuting them makes me tired lol.

I had a really good friend like that! But I moved...and he's technically my trans male cousin's friend. We hit it off good as friend's though. He does agree with me in regards to transitioning. He told me in private he was worried about my cousin transitioning and talked about it a little bit. We don't agree with everything politically, he's right leaning, I'm unaligned--used to be left leaning lol. He's really mellow and easy to talk to, and explains his views eloquently.

Yes, he's the kind of friend I'm talking about!! He sounds like a great company.

It's kinda been too long to contact them again, we're on good terms, it's just...awkward. I also don't have the big social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any of that type---most use that stuff but I don't want to. I give them my email address and phone# and we talk old school if they want to reach me.

I get you, I feel reluctant to contact my friends after disappearing. But I think they'd love to hear from you. I know I would lol! It's a pleasant surprise to hear from old friends you haven't seen for so long.

By the way, your reply had me laughing because it's so relatable! From your opinion about wearing makeup, how you need space to recoup, how introverts like us aren't shy, your experience with coworkers and trying to open up, I relate to them all 😂

He says that's "unmasculine" and men shouldn't wear it. [...] If you're part of the G, could you give me insight on what my friend was saying about masculinity?

Not a gay man, but this view isn't exclusive to gay men. Apparently a lot of men and women think that men embracing femininity would ruin society (remember when Harry Styles wore a dress for magazine cover a while ago? The reactions were hilarious).

I find it funny that when makeup is mentioned people almost always think about full face makeup (blush, fake eyelashes, lipstick with colors that obviously unnatural, etc.) and flinch at the idea of it on a man; while irl men in entertainment professions like actors and newscasters wear makeup all the time. I have male friends who don't mind their female friends putting full face makeup on them for fun. It depends on the person, but most people don't like the idea of feminine men.

Questions

Just like you, I make friends easily but I don't like long distance communication and tend to ghost them. Sorry, friends! Tbh any form of socializing drains me out, but long distance is the worst.

Friends are people I emotionally connected to despite our different interests, the rest (like work friends) are acquaintances to me. I keep a certain distance even to my very few closest friends though--I think I know way more about them than they about me. Kinda off topic, I don't usually make friends with my friends' partners unless they're both friends with me before they hit if off.

In friendships, I tend to listen more than I talk (energy saving) and try to not talk about personal belief or religion. I keep the topics revolve around usual stuff; like movies, trending restaurants or their kids. Maybe that's why I don't (think I) have any enemy or have any friendship-ending disagreements.

For a friend, I look for tolerance, the ability to agree to disagree and focus on our similarities instead of differences. About disagreement between friends, I listen to both sides and refuse to remain neutral. Not in the sense of attacking the one in the wrong, but in the sense that I tell the right one they're right and make the wrong one see their mistake so that we can come up with a peaceful solution.

I failed them after I went thru some stuff and disappeared. I came back to explain what happened...and disappeared again.

Whoa, are you me? I used to feel guilty for not keeping in touch with my friends. Now wishing happy birthdays, anniversaries, New Years and sending presents are regular low energy ways for me to keep my friendships going (and prevents them for thinking I wanna borrow money when I suddenly contact them lol). Not the best way to be up to date about their life, of course, but it works for me. Maybe that could work for you, too?

Changing the language from transsexualism and transvestitism to the much more anodyne transgenderism was a deliberate tactic thought up, pushed for and successfully accomplished by TRAs specifically for the purpose of making the motives of TIMs seem to be about identity rather than sex and fetishism. So was the creation of the concept of "transgender child."

Yes, it'd be impossible for them to push their agenda on children without using the more innocent-sounding "transgender." Imagine they say "transsexual/transvestite child" or "my 4-year old identified as a transvestite!" instead, it'd sound incredibly wrong.

[–]YoutiaoLover 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The only difference, obviously, is that the identical twins essentially share the same DNA.

I disagree with this statement. That's not the only difference.

Socially, identical and fraternal twins are treated differently. Identical twins often treated like an individual in two bodies from the moment they were born. They're treated like a set. Parents buy them same clothes, same toys, give them same haircuts, people often think their personalities are similar even though some are polar opposites.

My younger brothers are identical twins, I'm friends with a bunch of pair of twins--be it identical and fraternal, and of both sexes. I've seen "I don't get to date twin A, I'm fine with dating twin B lol" mentality. People who have problem with A tend to treat B like shit even though B don't know anything. Even as adults, identical twins I know still say things like, "Being twins sucks," "I wish I and my twin brother/sister don't look alike." Some even go to the extent of adopting fashion style they don't like in order to look different from their twin.

Fraternal twins, while they still get typical twins treatments (especially same sex twins), are seen as individuals more than identical twins. It's not unusual for them to be treated like regular siblings. I'm close friends with a pair of fraternal twins. 90% of the time, people (including their own parents!) forget that they're twins at all.

If gender identity does not exist, what are these people doing? How are they identifying as man or woman?

Okay, you said you don't have religion. If God doesn't exist, what are religious people doing?

God does exist. For them.

Fact is, people can believe in whatever they want to believe. There's a guy who identify as a lizard. Ridiculous? Yes. Doesn't make sense? Yes. But he still ID as a lizard anyway. A bunch of people believe they can't catch COVID, doesn't change the fact they still can catch it. Kids believe in Santa Claus, doesn't mean Santa Claus exist.

1) Can GC explain what is wrong with what I said above? Can you break what I said down and tell me what's wrong with what I said above and why you disagree with it.

"Gender identity is a psychological thing." "They feel like a man and other they feel like a woman." "They feel they are in the wrong body." "[...]who identifies as a man. [...] who identifies as a woman."

Feelings, thoughts, belief and psychological experience are not reality. For example, schizophrenic people think that their hallucination is real, but, in fact, it's not real. You can believe that earth is flat, still doesn't change the fact that it isn't. Claustrophobic people experience intense fear when being in small spaces, doesn't mean small spaces dangerous. Senior citizens can feel young, doesn't change the fact that they're old. Teens feel like they know everything, doesn't mean they does. You can identify as a cat and speak in meows, still doesn't make you a cat.

You can feel and identify as whatever, but the reality won't change.

2) Why do you say sex is not assigned at birth? If sex is not assigned at birth then what is it?

As other commenters mentioned: sex is determined in conception, observed and recorded at birth. Human have only two sexes, just like other mammalians: it's either male or female. Intersex people--which can look androgynous, have vague looking genitals and/or have secondary sex traits from the other sex--are either male or female depending on factors such as SRY gene, whether they produce sperm or ova, etc.

3) Why do you say people can't be born in the wrong body?

Are short people who think being tall is nice born in the wrong body? Were men who hate their receding hairline born in the wrong body? Were people with brown hair who wishes to have jet black hair born in the wrong body? Were squinty eyed people who wishes to have big eyes born in the wrong body? Were people with egg allergy who wishes to be able to food that contains eggs born in the wrong body? Were people who have congenital disorders born in the wrong body?

To me, all the questions above has only one answer: no, they weren't not born in the wrong body. Our bodies might have traits or conditions we don't desire. To accept, cope and make the best of it is a part of life.

Also, didn't the fishes take back "born in the wrong body" slogan?

4) Can you explain why gender identity does not exist? Don't cisgender people identify as/feel like they are the sex they were assigned at birth? Don't other animals identify as their sex assigned at birth due to lack of cognitive ability to identify as anything but their own sex?

What does "gender identity" means? AFAIK it's hardboiled gender stereotypes. Trans ID-ed males "feel" like a woman because they like dresses, want boobs and loves make-up. Trans ID-ed females "feel" like a man because they love sports, hates their boobs and prefer to mow the lawn to cleaning the house. Again, feeling doesn't equal reality.

Men never experienced what it's like to be a woman in any point of their lives, women never experienced what it's like to be a man. How do you know what it feels like to be someone you don't?

For example, every single adult were a toddler at one point of life. People who remember their toddler-hood know what it feels like to be a toddler because they naturally have experienced it. And yet, no adult can ID as a toddler, tell everybody they're a toddler, go to kindergarten to study with toddlers or compete in toddler's drawing competitions without the whole world think they're perverts, crazy or mentally ill. How can self-ID-ing yourself based on "feeling like someone you have never been before" be more legit than ID-ing as a toddler?

They mean a dog or a fish also have a gender identity and they can only identify as their own sex unlike humans...

I'm an adult human female who watch boxing championships, hate dresses, wish I were an A-cup (if not downright flat), don't enjoy periods, play video games catered to males and I don't own cosmetics. I don't do things those who "feel like a woman" think women do and do things that they think women don't. I don't "feel" like a woman, I don't "believe" I'm a woman, I just am. Before you assume dogs and fish have gender identity, please analyze mine because I (and the majority of human population) seem to be a walking contradiction to gender identity theory.

5) I can't wrap my head around what trans people mean with "valid." Oxford dictionary said that valid means "(of an argument or point) having a sound basis in logic or fact; reasonable or cogent." From what I can gather, transgenderism is not logical, factual, reasonable or cogent.

What the heck with lgbtphobic lol. I don't go to church, doesn't mean I'm Christian-phobic; I don't fast during Ramadan, doesn't mean I'm Islamophobic; I don't like touching any kind of reptiles, doesn't mean I have herpetophobia; I don't sleep with lesbians, doesn't mean I hate lesbians. You're entitled to whatever you believe, you're allowed to do to yourself whatever you want to; just don't expect other people to accept your belief or think that what you do is normal. After all, other people are entitled to their own beliefs.

(PS: Found your thread on GC, copied my answers here.)

Sorry to say, but "art social media" sounds like a hellhole.

I agree, it'd be tough to make online friends on the social media these days. It's still great to post things on to get exposure and appreciate other artists' works, but not for socializing. Artists who don't believe in trans ideology are a plenty, but it's hard to find them anyway since most of them understandably stay quiet about it.

If you're a woman who like yaoi, then yes, you're a fujoshi. Fujoshi is a term used for girls/women who enjoy yaoi/BL. The majority of transmen might be fujoshi, but the majority of fujoshi understand that yaoi is fiction. At least that's how it is in Asia; I'm not sure about yaoi fandom in the west though.

Doesn't cosplay reenforce the stereotypes that the TRA beliefs enforce? And what do female cosplayers do that they "pass as" males so well? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]YoutiaoLover 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't know about Hakken, but I personally know a woman who cosplays as male characters. Chest binding and padding to even out the chest and body, padding shoulders, contouring torso with make up to 'create' bulgy six-packs, manipulating clothes to create male silhouette, stuffing padding inside mouth to change jawline, etc.; there a numerous techniques a crossdressing cosplayers can use to make them look like the opposite sex.

I don't doubt some manipulate their photos; but, while it's certainly not a piece of cake, it can be done irl.

JK. Jokes aside, in your situation, maybe it's better to zip your lips on this matter and say "she/her" when they press you for pronouns. Just think of it as "losing the battle to win the war"; you can subtly express your GC thoughts to them when you're there even though you feel like you're betraying reality.

Should asexuals in gay relationships be in LGB? by RedditHatesLesbians in LGBDropTheT

[–]YoutiaoLover 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I find the meaning of "sexual" in "asexual" isn't clear.

When we think of sexuality as "being attracted to someone based on their biological sex", asexuality doesn't make sense. An asexual will find themselves falling in love and getting attracted to women-only, men-only or both sexes; which what the terms "straight," "lesbian," "gay," and "bi" have nicely covered.

Asexuality only makes sense when we talk about sexuality as "the feeling of necessity to have sex" (or the lack of it)... which is related to the popular definition of asexuality; and, in this case, doesn't fit with LGB narrative.

I do think it’s a bit oblivious to think a man passing as a “woman” should attend a man’s space.

What I know might be untrue now after trans craziness, but Thailand's ladyboy a few years back were basically what we call transvestite. They can almost 100% pass as women (unlike TIMs) and yet they still felt comfortable to go to men's restroom and use urinal while dressing and looking like women. One of my family visited Thailand and was shocked when someone whom he thought as a "very pretty girl" went into men's restroom to pee.

Transgender folks don't want their own space because they need the so-called VaLiDAtiOn. If safety is truly their main priority, they'd be more than happy to have their own space from ages ago.

IMO unless we're as loud as TRAs, have financial giants backing us up, no risk of being doxxed/cancelled/fired/threatened and have their governmental lobbying prowess; campaigning is a great way to start. Most of us don't have the privilege to go public with GC views because of real life consequences. We can start by supporting groups and campaigns with GC views, tell young people around us that it's ok to not conform to sexist gender roles/stereotype and peakening people by inserting facts about TRA agenda in relevant discussions.

Any kind of porn and prostitution have one similar result: women and girls involved are viewed as objects to jack off/have sex with instead of a dignified human being (even in their daily lives or after they got out of it, no recourse). It's a reality that porn in any form has ruined relationships, has normalized abusive actions that ended up causing some women lost their lives because of "RoUGh SeX GonE WrOnG," setting unreasonable expectations on female body should function/look/react, promoting fetishes, causing ED, and so on. I agree with this. Unlike cartoon that specifically targeted towards children, manga and anime has very wide range of genres, topics (there are informative, scientific and philosophical gems) and covers all age demographic (kids, preteen/teen/YA aka shoujo/shounen and adult aka josei/seinen). Unfortunately, the milk cow of the industry is fantasy/action genre targeted towards teen males and has sexualized stereotypical female characters as "fan service". I agree with you. It's like saying: we all know knives can be dangerous so when children--who weren't warned about the danger--stab themselves with a knife, they are responsible for hurting themselves. Most of the time, children are victims and ended up this way because adults around them failed to supervise and teach them to separate reality and fiction.

My nephews and nieces watched YouTube since they were babies. At the age of 7 they go browsing the internet without supervision, watching and reading any content they want. Their parents and other adults are downplaying the dangers lurking in internet because "They're kids!" "Internet isn't as dangerous as you think." "What? Do you think MY kid is going to access porn or something? lol."🤦🤦🤦

Unfortunately parents like that are EVERYWHERE now. They're failing their children and I can't help but think that this generation is fucked.
