lol wut? Theirs one glaring issue here and it's very obvious. "he" missed Mulan's entire motivation. Mulan did it to save her father from dying at the blade of a Mongol because she was utterly committed to family first and foremost. there is no "dysphoria" because she would've never run to the army if her father was healthy or if she had a brother of age.

remember: cognitive dissonance is a must to be a genderist!

If Mulan was a transmen in disguise because she crossdressed then Bugs Bunny or any classic child's character would also be transgender. It's not like this is a common trope or anything.

Hell, in this case it's even worse: this..creature, is painting any gender non-confirming women as a men because how could possible any woman don't like femininity or traditional gender roles while still being a woman?

And these people have the gal to call themselves progressive...

How could anyone have an independent mode of self expression?????? /s

Tbh, I see transgenders as the real/100% form of "gnc" just with the pronoun game. Especially HSTS.

Nevertheless, Mulan ain't a transman. She literally had a reason to pretend to be a man, which was to go to war in place for her father. It annoys the fuck outta me (since she was one of my favorites during childhood) that they're trying to paint her as a "transman." They're literally doing that to any characters, especially in non western areas like anime, as "trans" because they're either tomboys or feminine men/boys.

I wouldn't say that those old Bugs Bunny cartoons were made for children, but I do notice that the less they showed them on TV, the more they started pushing trans-mania.

In the "original story" she turns down a very honorable and lucrative position and goes back to her village to live as a woman again. I haven't seen the disney film so idk if they had her living as a man forever but I doubt it.

Yep, she went back to her family as a woman even in the disney version.

Never again, tell me straight to my face, that Mulan is one of your Disney princesses, that she's a straight, cis woman.

Uh, then go tell that to Disney who literally has Mulan as part of the Disney princess line. Or better yet, go tell that to Chinese people about their character from their own ancient folk story.

"Every woman who ever crossdressed was actually a man," take 539.

exactly, mulan is not disney's creation, she's an old folk tale... about a woman.

These are the same people who declared Song of the South off limits while putting warning labels on Goofy cartoons.

A white college student talking over Chinese people about their own stories and culture, a whole Great Wall of Text even, seems pretty racist and shallow to me.

A woke person understanding other culture's values, traditions, and history? I've never seen it...

explain how women are not being erased again? so desperate to steal prominent historical figures for their agenda. As if Mulan would have been allowed into the army if she hadn't hidden her identity. The misogyny of this creature

That's one way to take a wonderful tale of a woman defying society's expectations of her to be the woman that saved her country and turn it on its head to reinforce the idea that all women in the world want to be trophy wives.

I haven't seen the live action version, but I know in the animated version that she completely drops the Ping disguise the moment she's no longer at risk of being executed for being a woman hero

This is delusional. I don't know what else to say.

Missing the entire point of Mulan is such a perfect analogy for missing the entire point about gender stereotypes and specifically women's gender roles in the real world all the time. It's almost the perfect tool to explain to a lay person (because we're professional transphobes!), who will 1000% guaranteed actually understand the point - because it's a major Disney movie - how wrong and backwards gender transition is at its very core.

So yeah, TRAdicals, keep bringing up how Mulan is actually really a MAN. Go ahead. Say it every day. Every woman who's not making you a sandwich MUST be a MAN. Good luck with that.

Okay, so if she’s transgender, why did she (with great relief, as I recall) discard the ‘male’ clothes/persona and NEVER go back to them for the rest of the movie⁉️

Also, the screeching, almost hysterical desperation in that post is seriously concerning.

Yeah.

As usual trans trying to poison anything that indicates a TOMBOY (ie someone perfectly happy being a masculine woman).
