So Boystown, which was formed by the hard work of gay men, has to change it's name because it isn't inclusive enough to the people who did fuck all?

Not to mention, the majority were against the name change.

And even though the majority objected to the change, most objectors will sit down, shut up and accept the change because they are scared to vocally oppose the change.

Why they can't just built their own Nonbinarstown and always need to take away from others?

They can’t build their own neighbourhoods because these people are destructive by nature. So they parasite off of other people's achievements and later destroy said achievements.

This stuff really pisses me off. So shit made by gay men for gay men isn't inclusive?? boo fucking hooo aiden. It's erasure of gay history and it makes me sick. Even when we make our own spaces that everyone should know never had the goal of inclusion we have to deal with these people????? We need to make a stand. draw our line in the dirt and say "no we're not budging" all this genderspecial uwu feelings bullshit can fuck right off

Boystown will be called Northalsted and promoted as “Chicago’s Proudest Neighborhood,”

Not proud of being a place for gay men, seemingly.

Of those survey-takers, 58% favored keeping the Boystown moniker and 20% said they felt unwelcomed by the Boystown name, according to Northalsted Business Alliance spokesperson Jen Gordon.

“It definitely felt like we should be doing something about it,” said Gordon. “If (the name Boystown) was making even a small percentage of people feel uncomfortable, it’s not something we should be using to promote the neighborhood.”

Next step: ban gay marriage because it makes a small percentage of straight people feel uncomfortable.

The petition says that “systemic transphobia, racism, and sexism have plagued our neighborhood for decades, and it begins at the top, with the all-male board of the Northalsted Business Alliance. It begins with the BOYSTOWN signs down our street announcing that this neighborhood is ‘for the boys.’”

I didn't know that "man" is a term only applied to white people. Funny, huh? I love how they always use the racism card in issues that have nothing to do with racism, just because they want to make their points more valid by tying it to unrelated race issues.

We opened our own bars, restaurants, hair salons and retail stores. ... Go establish yourselves with your own identities and get back to us.

That is a sensible comment.

I mean, it isn't even surprising. Gay men created this community as a safe space for gay men, and then when it's already established other groups try to take it away from gay men. But nah, it's gay men who never fought and are stealing other people's spaces, right? /s

It is just so goddamn typical of these woke freaks to accuse gay men of sexism, racism and transphobia. There is always something about us they don’t like. We will never be able to please them, so why bother? We should be telling these narcissists to fuck off and protest their efforts to take over our spaces, but instead we just sit down, shut up and accept a fate we have never asked for.

Unfortunately, I can understand why few gay men are brave enough to go against the grain, at least in America, where tens of thousands of gay men died from aids, leaving younger gay men with very few role models to show them the ways of being gay, being men and being proud. But this collective weakness among gay men exists in other countries as well. It’s heartbreaking.

"Petition co-author Devlyn Camp, who is gender nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, said the neighborhood needs to be more welcoming and inclusive."

Wow shocking. Yet another narcissisTic aTTenTion whore dude in an ugly dress tearing down gay history.

Am I the only one who thinks the idea of a "gay neighborhood" is ridiculous to begin with? Sounds like the most boring place on earth. I'd never want to live anywhere near people who think that their sexuality is a defining feature of who they are, let alone a whole town of them.

a majority of people wanted to keep the name but no, we can't have a smaller minority feel welcome in a community that doesn't exist for them
