even as an ideal the existence of gentlemen was predicated upon the existence of ladies.

Precisely. It was a method of control, an excuse for men to act out violently when women didn't behave the way they want while still maintaining the illusion that they were "nice guys" to themselves.

I would like to speak to the manager of your brain, she's not doing a very good job at all

You're speaking to her. Clutch those pearls all you want, baby, but it's true. Statistically speaking, women are far more likely to be assaulted by a man they knew personally. Moreover, men who "wouldn't hit a girl" are most likely to make an exception for women they know. All evidence points towards greater danger faced by women who are in close proximity to men. I pity heterosexual women.

Nah, the LGBT activists that you talk to and that ends up on western news is mostly western LGBT activists. They take issue with Christians because they've experienced homophobia from Christian communities in the west first hand. They don't have a lot of experience with homophobia from Muslim communities, because they don't interact with a lot of Muslims. So while they don't agree with homophobia from Muslim communities, they don't spend a lot of time on it. If you speak with LGBT activists from Muslim majority countries, they don't have a lot of opinions about Christian bakers in America either. It's not hypocrisy, it's two separate groups.

You know what happens when a woman I have a huge crush on doesn't like me back? I go home, curl up in bed, maybe cry a little, then I move on like a normal person.

Being "fLeEWWIDdd" does not make you interesting as a person

It makes them fickle and volatile, by definition. They can't say "I don't know what I will be in a year" AND "I am capable of being in a dedicated, long-term relationship". It's either or. There's a price to that level of "freedom". If you want to roleplay changing your sex or you don't think you'll be attracted to a certain sex in the future, then it stands to reason that you would be incompatible with someone who isn't going to change themselves to accommodate you. They can't reserve the right to completely re-invent themselves sexually and then get mad when people rule them out as potential partners for stable, long term relationships. That's the problem I have with fluid BTQ communities complaining about how nobody wants to be in a relationship with them.

Woot, I'm on a computer now, so expect fewer typos and better formatting. If you're worried about me wasting my time, don't sweat it, I'm waiting for some code to compile.

This comment is dismissive to black Americans especially those of recent immigrants, as well as the experiences.

Lmao. OK. I was able to pinpoint the ethnic origin of both your parents within 100 miles (Puerto Rico is east of D.R. by less than 100 miles, Denmark is attached to Germany). You were off my friend's country of origin by over 2000 miles (Sri Lanka to the nearest Chinese border). I not only correctly deduced you were half Afro-Latin, I correctly guessed that half came from the Caribbeans. Tamil people are completely different culturally to Chinese or Korean people. Not. Even. Close. We're not going to go into the part where you got to know which city she lived in and I don't know which city you live in, because I think our interactions gave me more insight on your ethnic background than I could glean from your home city. Am I just better than you? Or could you have had a harder task as the Asian American community is more diverse than the Black American community? I suspect it's a bit of both.

Let's look at some facts straight off the most reliable source on the internet (remember, I am just as surprised as you are):

Of the 12.6% of United States residents who identified as black, around 10.3% were "native black American" or ethnic African Americans, who are direct descendants of West/Central Africans brought to the U.S. as slaves.

That's over 80% of Black Americans who are direct descendants of West/Central Africans who are brought to the U.S. as slaves. A strong majority.

According to the 2017 American Community Survey, 65% of Hispanic and Latinos identified as White... Over a quarter of Hispanic/Latino Americans identify as "some other race."

There's, at best, a weak majority in "Latin" communities.

The largest ethnic groups were Chinese (23.8 percent), Filipino (20.4 percent), Japanese (12.3 percent), Indian (11.8 percent), Korean (11.6 percent), Vietnamese (8.9 percent), and Laotian (2.2 percent).[35] Smaller populations, of less than two percent, were documented of the following ethnicities: Cambodian, Thai, Hmong, Pakistani, Indonesian, Malay, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, and Burmese.

There is no majority in "Asian" communities.

Moreover, I did mention recent immigrants in the Black community. Twice:

There's a chance that your black parent is an immigrant, and a chance that you're an immigrant yourself, but it's slim.

There are variations, like the African slaves who were "moved" to Central or South America, and later waves of immigrants to the Americas either from Africa or of African descent (though some of them may not "identify" as black, preferring to identify with their nationality or ethnic group as they don't have much in common with the dominant black north american narrative)

This lines up with information on wikipedia:

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, nearly 3% of people who self-identified as black had recent ancestors who immigrated from another country.

This is compared to around 69% of Asian Americans being foreign born in 2000 (see note 34). Also, regarding the italicized section in parenthesis:

According to U.S. Census Bureau data, African immigrants generally do not self-identify as African American. The overwhelming majority of African immigrants identify instead with their own respective ethnicities (≈95%).

God I'm good. Maybe you should be the one sucking my cunt. For someone who claims to love diversity, you sure don't have a good grasp of it.

So to wrap it up, the Black community in America is objectively less diverse than Latin and Asian communities. I'm right on that. Additionally, I did not dismiss the experiences of non-"mainstream" members of the Black community in America, including recent immigrants, as I've mentioned it twice. Most of all, I don't see how this amounts to me "bashing black community", "putting down black community", saying that the issues the black community faces is "less severe" or any of those things. These are separate things.

You give examples of Asians being more diverse. You say most black people are here due to slavery yet you make no mention of Chinese and Japanese being in the U.S. prior and during slavery due to the gold rush.

I didn't mention Japanese internment camps or Yellow Peril either; I have a finite amount of time, I'm not going to mention everything. And this is an argument for Asian communities being more diverse, not less.

You speak about the Asians having to escape hardships and war torn countries like Sri Lanka, or the example of the Vietnamese woman, the boy...yet you don't acknowledge any of the black people who came here in similar if not the same situation.

The first two was mentioned in passing, by happenstance. The third was brought up as a response to you interpreting behavior from the non-Black PoC community as "gaining whiteness" and "stepping on Black people". I was offering an alternative interpretation to that behavior. None of it was said in the spirit of woe is non-Black people. We are not arguing over our differing interpretations of behavior in the Black community (I don't think we would disagree on that, for the most part); if we were, I might have delved into specific scenarios too.

Also, even if I mentioned them in the spirit of woe is non-Black PoCs, how in the world is that putting anyone down? You're behaving just like Eva Longoria. Is non-Black lesbians talking about their struggles with coming out putting Black people down? Is non-Black women talking about their struggles with sexism putting black people down? Why is non-Black immigrants talking about their struggles with the immigration process putting black people down? Does every mention of some sort of struggle have to pay tribute to Black struggles lest it puts Black people down? I didn't buy this center-me-always shit from the trans community, and I'm not going to buy it from you either.

You, a non black person, telling black people what is and what is not black is by far the most entitled, racist thing any non-black person can do. Because history has shown time and time again, your way of thinking has led to nothing but segregation and discrimination.

Wow, and here I thought maybe race-based genocide, lynching, enslavement or forced assimilation would be the most racist thing someone can do. Or, like, in the modern American context maybe racist hiring practices, calling the police on random Black people, or voting for racist politicians something. But I guess these days, not agreeing with you fits the bill.

Me, a black woman, is telling you a white man with white parents is not black. You dismiss my statement and say he is in fact black because he claims it. This is extremely harmful to the black community since it brings forth even higher negative experiences of colorism.

He says he's black. His black wife says he's black (unless you also don't think she is black). Ebony.com says he's black. I'm not going to go against him, his wife, and ebony.com, just to side with you and breitbart.com on this one. But hey, I was fine dropping the issue if you don't think he is. For your sake, I am fine with remaining neutral. If you want another example, take Meghan Markle, Zendaya, Logic or Redfoo. The point is, sometimes I, a non-black person, cannot tell the difference between white and black people. I don't see how my occasional inability to identify African ancestry would lead to "nothing but segregation and discrimination", so you'll have to fill me in on that.

And no, it's still compiling, believe it or not.

Edit: example changed to be more Ameri-centric

The solution to that is something that Peterson talks about quite a bit, socializing boys properly. They need proper outlets to vent and learn how to deal with their aggression, they need rough and tumble play.

Boys have had rough and tumble play for almost all of human history. Violent crime is at an all time low since we turned that down. I think evidence is against rough and tumble play.

I have gotten the feeling talking to all my kids teachers that the ideal little boy in elementary school would basically be a sterotypical girl

I'm personally of the opinion that most girls were beaten into silence and passivity from a young age. I was just as bored as the boys in class, but I didn't act out because my parents taught me better; with words, rulers, and the back of their hands when they needed a little more oomph. But maybe that's what modern society needs: people who can sit quietly and solve problems. Keep up or get left behind, right?

There are also numerous accidents that men get into that look suspiciously like suicide

And plenty of women "disappear". Back when I was planning to kill myself, I wanted to disappear so as to spare my family the funeral expenses and the trauma of finding me. There will always be an element of error in statistics.

I more so wanted to point out that a few men's behavior is not indicative of all men

I'm more specifically talking about trans-identified men according to the context of this thread. But sure, #notallmen.

And I also don't think the solution to men or societies problem is to have men behave more like women

Hey, if you got a better solution, like I said, I'm all ears. I don't even like dealing with men, but if they're going to negatively affect me, I'm going to have to do something about it. And if you don't like my methods, then you should come up with your own. I'm not going to sit around and put up with crazy, entitled male behavior while you brainstorm. Let's be proactive, right?

Gotta work on that reading comprehension, buddy. I said you can tell someone is not white by looking, and you might as well fucking own up to it instead of skirting around the topic by calling people "Mexican" and "Spanish speaking".

Saying "we are all colors!" is the race equivalent of spewing "gender is a spectrum!". It's not. It's a hierarchy, with men at the top and women at the bottom. We are not "all colors"; there's a hierarchy of treatment with people being treated better near the top and worse near the bottom. This is exactly the sort of stupid, vapid soundbite liberals get off on. Refusing to acknowledge this societal injustice doesn't make it go away any more than a male trans can end sexism by identifying as a woman and claiming to have never experienced it.

You're the only one policing here. You got something actually meaningful to add besides the fact that you don't like my opinion?

How about this, I'll respond to your comment too.

9/10 that color is brown and yet call someone colored...oh no he didn't.

First of all, words have meaning and connotations. In spanish "negro" is just a color, in english it's not. You can describe someone as "a person of color", you can even describe them as brown or black but "colored" has a negative historical connotation and so we don't use it. It's really not rocket science.

There's nothing wrong with describing someone as non-white. In this case /u/book_hoarder does it anyway in a stupid, round-a-bout way despite not actually knowing the ethnic background of any of the people at the wedding in question. It would honestly be less idiotic if she just said they were "people of color" instead of trying to allude to it by describing them as "Mexicans" or "spanish speakers".

You can point out someone is not white, it's not racist. You can't call someone "colored" because it has racist undertones due to its historical connotations. Are you following so far?

we are all colors if you want to get right down to it.

We are not "all colors if you get right down to it". Racism is real and being cOloRbLInD isn't an adequate response to it. Grow the fuck up and stop pussy footing around the issue. White supremacy is real, and it isn't any less real just because you're afraid to address it. Spending your time making sure everyone knows how not racist you are isn't going to make racism go away. And no, pointing out/acknowledging racism doesn't make me "the real racist".

If it were true that they were cremating people in bulk they would need to have cremation furnaces that were much larger than the ones they had.

No, it just needs to be big enough for a body, which it looks to be, according to the photographs. Remains have been found in mass graves, with pieces of bones found within the ashes, as you say, they do not burn. Much less care is given to these bodies than modern day crematoriums, where the process involves handling the bodies respectfully, collecting the ashes carefully, and grinding the bones. That's going to take longer. Also, present day crematoriums are designed to handle the usual death rate of a population, so it's not hard to overwhelm them in the case of a pandemic where a lot more people have died in a short amount of time.

Is there anything that could convince you of it? Clearly not books, photographs, or first person accounts. What sort of evidence of the existence of the Holocaust would you accept, just out of curiosity?

We wouldn't have to if you could add to the conversation instead of repeating the same ungrounded accusations. I keep asking you to quote me anywhere saying:

black Americans didn't make sacrifices

Or

issues black Americans face aren't as severe

But you won't, probably because you can't. Why do you bullshit? Who is playing victim here?

the assumptions you've made about me in the last two comments

I've made a lot of assumptions about you and I've backed up/given my reasoning for every single one. You've made completely false claims about me that you're unwilling to own up to nor correct.

Edit: also, where have I "call[ed you] names"?? Can you quote me?? You know words have meaning right? Because I'm starting to get the sense that you don't.
