Actually the 41% figure has been debunked - It was about self reported rates of suicidal ideation. Not even attempts or completed attempts. If there was an actual epidemic of trans suicides where would be tons of articles about it not just random articles from trans activist organizations. Like everything else trans activists say its a complete lie.

[–]kwallio 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Its one of those idiot thought experiments that is meant to induce confusion and make people believe weird things. Its actually a cult recruitment tactic. The thing is everyone knows what the word 'mother' means. Its both a biological reality and a social role, and an adoptive mom is a real mom but just not a biological mom. It has zero relavance to trans anything.

Does Kim Petras "pass"? And why are TIMs and TIFs everywhere? by UWUness in GenderCritical

[–]kwallio 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If you search youtube for 'transvestigations" you'll find a bunch of videos dedicated to looking at celebs and deciding if they are trans or not. Some of them are interesting, some of them are clearly weird. Most tims pass better when they are younger, by the time they hit 25+ they start to look more manly and less androgynous and then don't pass as well. In the Im Poppy video he looks like a teenager and I wouldn't have thought he was male if I didn't know.

Intersectionality - a useful or useless concept? by oatcake in GenderCritical

[–]kwallio 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The original concept was coined so that black women or other POC women (but black women specifically) could have the words to talk about overlapping oppression, like both black and female, or black, female, and lesbian. But it quickly was taken by the wokerati and turned into the oppression olympics (which TIMs won, apparently). Its lost all meaning and nowdays means "including men" in everything. Personally I think its lost whatever it once had as a concept and should basically be thrown out.

Wait what? I mean some of Worf's treatment in the series was because he was a Klingon, are they saying it was because Worf was played by Michael Dorn (a black man)? My mind is kind of boggling. What was wrong with the way Geordi was treated? Its been a while since I saw the series but I don't remember any racism.

I think for many people the feeling of wrongness that you feel doesn't necessarily mean that you are something else. Being or feeling wrong doesn't logically progress to "and that meant I'm something else". You can feel all sorts of feelings about your body without necessarily making the leap to "and therefore I'm something else". I don't get that leap also, like lovesloan says despite everything you don't really understand what its like to be a female.

Never realizing the whole time that his desire to transition was due to his libido, and that when he was on blockers and hormones his desire to live as a woman went kaput. This guy will probably retransition.

For GC: what makes someone trans? by [deleted] in GCdebatesQT

[–]kwallio 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I mean if I had to go along with trans dogma or lose my job I would probably say what I had to in order to stay employed. But in my view transgenderism is basically a delusion, a false idea that changing sex is possible, or that brains have a sex and that one has or can have the brain of a different sex. Every study on the human brain in the different sexes has shown that apart from a slight difference in size (female brains are smaller) there are no measurable or significant differences in the brain between the sexes . So no, I don't believe that anyone can actually be trans.

For GC: what makes someone trans? by [deleted] in GCdebatesQT

[–]kwallio 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't really believe that transgenderism, or gender dysphoria is really a thing. A person wearing the opposide sex's clothes or presenting as the opposite sex is just crossdressing. The trans concept is based in a foofy religous like concept of inner essence which as an atheist I reject completely. Your mind is an embodied concept, it does not exist outside of the body, so transgenderism is just religious-like hooey.

I would like a trans person to define what transgenderism means to them, including all trans people including people who don't crossdress or transition since no hatekeeping, ok?

  1. no
  2. I was raised catholic, I dunno but I don't think I ever really believed in god. It just seemed too farfetched to me.
  3. I feel like I'm a rationalist and I am GC mostly because I feel that there just isn't any good evidence that transition actually helps anyone, and the blatantly anti-science attitudes of the TRA crowd. Hardcore radfems also have their issues with science (and scientists) which is why I don't consider myself 100% a radfem.
  4. I feel like much (most?) of trans rhetoric loops around into conservative christian/fundie religion rhetoric more often than not. The whole if you have short hair as a woman you are actually a boy/long hair you are actually a woman type of gender BS, the hard/rigid gender role adherence perpetrated by most trans, the idea that being same sex attracted is problematic in someway, the whole concept of gender seems to reflect a christian soul which I don't believe in, yes I think it does parallel religion and conservative religious attitudes towards sex and sexuality.

Why trans don't tell their dates, that they are trans? by ygrek in GenderCritical

[–]kwallio 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Its an ego boost to be dating in stealth mode. They think they pass so well that their dates don't know that they are trans. The thought process that they might be doing something dangerous or any thought about the feelings of the other person basically doesn't happen, because they are obsessed with their appearance.

There was a post on saidit somewhere, either here on gendercritical or elsewhere where a TIM was on a date with a man and did the big reveal that they were trans and were disappointed and angry that the man said that he knew and accepted the TIM for who he was. He was mad that he didn't pass and didn't get the ego boost of the gasp "but I thought you were totally a woman" experience.

My take on this is that trans people mostly live in a self-created fantasy world, anything that intrudes on this creates huge psychic problems and must be eliminated asap.

You are right that this creates problems for the trans person, because they are addicted to their fetish or preoccupation with passing and thus can't get a true relationship, which has honesty as a foundation. As we've seen with people becoming trans in the context of an already existing relationship, they are just fine with throwing away a long term relationship in service to their trans identity. I don't understand it either but that is what they do.

Tra narratives and ideology aren’t really sustainable

Totally agree.

The TRAs have adopted an untenable position longterm - total agreement on all issues and terminology with no debate, ever, even as those issues and terms change on the daily. Absolutely no safeguarding or waiting required when children are involved, must validate the trans identity. Its completely bonkers and like you said, unsustainable.

I go so back-and-forth about this. It's really, really hard to not be polite, and it sounds bad in my mind, but the way many radical feminists deliberately embrace that form of social disobedience on principle not only makes sense from a woman's perspective (or so I intuit), but I can see the logic behind it being kinder to not entertain or encourage what might be considered mental illness or just harmful/unsafe behavior.

I actually feel this pretty hard. Everyone pretty much is socialized to not rock the boat and to accomodate people, pushing back against people is hard.

I think mostly its been a wash. I feel like the qt position has been pulled out into the open more, but the backside of that is that its been increasingly obvious that women and the reality based community are losing, badly.

The qts have made quite the asses of themselves, from the NYT article about someones nb status being meaningless when she was alone to the whining about trans surgeries being put off due to covid.

For me personally the pandemic has made me less inclined to give qt the benefit of the doubt and has essentially made me more extreme in my terfery. I used to be of the "its not a big deal to use neo/cross sex pronouns, costs $0 to be polite" type of person and have gone hard in the other direction because being "nice" is never reciprocated.

I think in my case being isolated from my very liberal very woke very pro-trans friends sort of did this, because you never want to be the one with no friends but a year without hanging out with them made me realize that they weren't really my friends anyway. Very few of them ever made the effort to check in, so screw it.

You didn't answer my second question. What do you mean by genetic?

ETA - your sources don't exactly prove that depression is genetic. The first source doesn't give any proof and is imo wrong. It just talks about possible genetic links for depression and how inheritance works. Depression is much more correlated with negative experiences than any particular gene. The other paper is from 2011, the massive study showing that depression is much more related to negative experiences than genetics is much more recent that that. Look, I have depression and follow the news about it. YOu can't just say that depression is genetic and throw out a few sources because let me tell you, people have been trying to find a genetic link for depression for literally decades and have been unable to find it. Depression is not genetic. IDK what you mean by genetic but you are not using it as a biologist would use it. Please explain what you mean by genetic. When I say depression is not genetic I mean that people tried for years with millions of dollars in research money to find a genetic link for depression and found nothing. Depression is highly correleated with negative experiences, not genetics.

Taking hormones to appear another sex or removing breasts is not the same as chopping off an arm.

Why tho.

I mean seriously the distinction seems be because trans ppl want it and they also have the conceit that they want think of themselves as normal, when these things are anything but normal. I mean I would like some sort of explanation was to why someone thinking that their arm is evil and must be removed vs the desire of some to remove their genitalia or breasts or something.

thisneverhappens is about documenting trans criminals. Cis people commit crimes too.

You seem to have completely missed the point of the hashtag, women complained that self id would mean that criminals would feel like they have a pass to enter women's spaces and commit crimes, and were basically shushed by people saying it would never happen. Its happened, and happening, as documented by the former reddit sub and now on ovarit. But the trans response seems to be LALALALA WE CAN'T HEAR YOU. Its infuriating. The fact that cis people commit crimes is completely beside the point.

I'm going to have to push back on the mental health aspect of this a bit. Is gender dysphoria a mental health problem or not? If not then whey all the medicalisation, surgeries etc? Why are people being told that trans people will literally commit suicide if they don't get what they want?

If it is a mental health disorder than why is only medical transition and not counseling or some other sort of therapy or mental health treatment part of the treatment plan? No other mental health disorder is treated like this.

The trans narrative on mental health vis a vis gender dysphoria is completely inconsistent. You seriously can't have it both ways, both a mental health conditions and completely normal, must be treated with transition only and no other mental health type treatment. Its ridiculous on the face of it.

People threatening suicide in any other context is typically considered manipulative behavior and should never be indulged. Except when someone is trans, for some reason.

You are drawing inferences where no inferences should be made. The fact that some bees have haploid males doesn't mean anything except there are some bee species that have haploid male bees. That you can manipulate two sperm in a lab to do something doesn't mean anything except that - not that there is no difference between a sperm and an egg because there are very real differences between sperm and egg. Focusing on one tiny fact while ignoring 20 facts that run counter to your argument is not a way to get anyone's respect especially when you are arguing about science when you clearly have zero background in it.

I am interested in hearing some perspectives from gender critical feminists on the topic of medical transition treatments for gender dysphoria by MissAnarchist in GCdebatesQT

[–]kwallio 10 insightful - 3 fun10 insightful - 2 fun11 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Here is my view, however I'm pretty sure I am pretty liberatarian on this topic and not typical of most gender critical people. I think anyone should be able to medically transition if they are over 18 and want to. I don't think children (even pubescent children) should get any hormones and surgery. I don't think insurance should be paying for it, though. And I mean insurance shouldn't be paying for any of it - no hormones, no surgeries, nothing. I think transitioning is more or less akin to cosmetic surgery and shouldn't be covered by insurance. If you want to pay for it yourself though, do whatever you want.

I don't think that people should be able to change their birth certificates. Imo the birth certificate is a record of an event. Someone changing their gender presentation years later doesn't change what happened on that day. As for other legal documents, I think a transgender category would be more appropriate? I'm really not ok with having people change their legal documents becaues for example I don't want males to be incarcerated with females and if you allow a legal document change I don't see how you can reasonably disallow those types of things if you allow legal document changes.

I don't really consider myself a radfem. I'm more critical of gender than I am a radical feminist. I'm not really a libfem either, I guess I'm sort of homeless in the feminist movement. I've don't really believe that people can make a conscious choice to be attracted to another sex, I believe that sexuality is hardwired.

Do trans-identified people have genital preference? by Rage-Xion in GenderCritical

[–]kwallio 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Most of the comments I've seen on this topic say that trans identified individuals become "dysphoric" when the idea of interacting with same sex genitalia is broached. As usual with the trans it is the rules for thee but not for me narcissism poking out.

I only know one trans individual IRL and I honestly have no idea which sex this person prefers. If I were to guess I would think that they are a heterosexual before transition male but I don't get AGP vibes from this person. To me they seem heavily traumatized and just trying to deal.

THis is actually not true, indigenous tribes and scientists have compared notes regarding the numbers of types of plants and animals in a given area and come up with the same types. The species concept may have issues in certain edge cases but as a whole it has held up. Species are real.
