I think they are too concerned with non-existant trans kids & their non-existant suicide rate to care whether it makes sense or not. Also, good manners.

The only male cosplayers the media parades about are the pretty ones who almost pass & are usually homosexuals, making everyone feel more at ease with the idea of role-play masquerading as identity.

I think a lot of them are trying to convince themselves. They think it's BS but they assume they're missing something, because all the "good" people they know seem to believe this nonsense. So they say the right words, hoping that the right words will eventually give way to the right beliefs. Source: me 5years ago.

They have different epistemic goals to us.

I will believe something iff and only iff it helps me better predict and explain observation.

They will believe something iff they think it makes them kinder.

"belief" means something different for them and us.

You can see this play out quite clearly in trans-philosophy and transactivism. Philosophy bros like contrapoints and PhilosophyTube will blatantly admit that they can't win the metaphysical debate about what gender is and would prefer to focus on issues regarding healthcare and respect.

I think quite a few people think it is BS but go along with the crowd.
