I saw something like this when Buttigieg (I'm sure I spelled his name wrong, idc) was running for pres - on tumblr people were calling him straight and a bunch of other people were like ???? and it turns out if you don't die your hair strange colors, have multiple piercings and sit a certain way in a chair you aren't gay. Gay is basically an aesthetic to the younger crowd and if you are basically normal that isn't "gay" to them. Its so, so stupid.

"Queer" twitter lost their shit when Pete and Chasten didn't want to do a photo op in front of a stripper pole. For any other candidate that decision would have been totally understandable. Why not for Pete? Because he's gay and apparently you aren't gay enough unless you're sliding down a pole in a gay club.

To quote the Daily Show, “it sounds like the takeaway of this conversation should be, ‘if Buttigieg does not eat his husband’s ass on live TV, he’s not gay enough for me.'”

It's so fucking weird to me, because wasn't this the goal? Wasn't this what the whole fight was for? "We're just like you, we just want to settle down with the person we love". And now people are doing just that, they're being ostracised and told they're not gay enough for it? Nah, fuck that

They did it to Ellen, of all people. I'm not surprised they did it to Pete, too. These same people claim learning about "LGBTQ+ history" is essential to education, but think the only "facts" anyone needs to know is that ALL historic gay figures were AKSHUALLY trans.
