Has anyone told James he sounds like a crazy person?

a cancer of leftist transphobia is spreading globally, threatening to invade our shores.

I don’t think Mumsnet or the LGB Alliance are camped out in a submarine headed for American shores, but whatever.

he did so in support of a notorious Labour transphobe

Is Duffield Voldemort now? Can you not say her name?

This summer, within the space of two weeks, two U.K. writers I work with were assaulted in broad daylight by people screaming anti-trans. Then several days later one of them was assaulted again. And then again!

That happened. Sure.

the New York Times is flirting with anti-trans rhetoric in the name of balance

I’ll give you the entirety of my bank account if you can provide one example.

Mainstream journalists at other left-leaning publications are speaking about “intellectual freedom”

How very dare they! It’s almost like trans rhetoric doesn’t stand up at all to the slightest debate.

Yes, it was lots of unsubstantiated editorializing. Probably because the actual evidence points the other direction.

He’s an activist, not a journalist. He will tell lies to further his agenda and keep people in line.

He’s an activist

One thing you eventually learn about activists is that lying in the service of the cause is a very serious occupational hazard. It's just too tempting.

You likely have not noticed how a cancer of leftist transphobia is spreading globally, threatening to invade our shores.

I am picturing terfs in Viking hats on longboats, and Posie Parker at the helm with shield and furry armor.

I don't have time tonight to make a silly image, but OMG, I really want to.

Can someone else make this happen?

Posie Parker at the helm with shield and furry armor.

She isn't even a left-winger, many actual GC women don't approve of her because she aligns with known homophobic/misogynistic right-wing groups. I'm pretty such she LARPs as a lefty

She’s more of a centrist or a right of centre woman. She has cut ties with members of the far right.

I don't think it's easy to categorise people politically these days. To the best of my knowledge she was always a LP member/voter until a few years ago and I don't really have reason to disbelieve her. The Labour Party of old that stood for the working class may have been economically left but was also a small c socially conservative. Hence why the Red Wall in the North fell so dramatically to the Tories in the last election. I think many felt there was more chance of the Tories shifting on economic policies than Labour shifting on identity politics. They may be misguided - time will tell on that, but I think that's what has happened.

The Labour Party abandoned the working class for the middle and upper classes. However, the Tories shifting on economics is unlikely, plus they’ve adopted some of the woke policies of the Labour Party. I guess a third party is in order. Not the Lib Dems, though.

I won't hold my breath. I think we're cursed to live in interesting times, as the saying goes!

I feel your pain. All of the political parties in Ireland suck as well.

when I first learned a couple years ago about the anti-trans hate group LGB Alliance,

Promoting LGB = "anti-trans hate" --

LGB = people living in reality;

"trans" = people living a delusional fetish-based existence.

Calling out delusions is "hate." I'd just call it "bubble-bursting."

U.K. Cited for Anti-Trans Human Rights abuses- is U.S. Next?

We're making complete fools of ourselves on this side of the pond. All the political propaganda, astroturfing from tech, and wishy-washy media sources, are dumbing us down and making us complacent in our own demise.

I'm leaning towards let the tyranny begin, so real people will actually start rising up and doing something about it. Instead of theorizing on social media and gaining likes for things they don't even take part in, let it affect them. Let it impact them. And then watch the blinders fall off as they finally see the truth. Some lessons need to be learned the hard way.

I'm all for just living your own good life, learn to grill and have a nice weekend with your neighbors ... but seriously, this shit has to reach a breaking or tipping point in real life. The US is inching closer to it, but we're not there yet.

Too many people are asleep. They don’t realise what is happening. Maybe shit needs to hit the fan to make them realise what is happening.

shadow ministers flirting openly

That's actually some pretty good fantasy imagery there. I'm squirreling that one away for a poem, or maybe the basis for a painting. The contradiction between shadow and openly doesn't exactly jive well, but I'll see if I can make it work.

Leftist anti-trans hatred spreads like cancer

Ironic considering in left-wing spaces the traniban is given the highest priority and most of the heinous platroons LARP as trans-flag cummunists. I cannot discuss issues like public education, public health without any discussion about the mentally ill degenerates in left spaces. Even though I'm left-leaning, this article is pretty transparently neo-liberal and left-wing communities like r/stupidpol will have a field day with this because it completely aligns with the notion that the rich neo-libs are pushing the most regressive trans ideologies.

cummunists

This is the first time I've heard this term and its so, so apt.

But if you’re an American who doesn’t closely follow LGBTQ news, even if you’re a politically engaged progressive Democrat, I bet you don’t know how bad things are on the U.K. left.

Lol, what? The UK left is the pro-trans side. Just ask Aimee Challenor.

A few days ago when Labour leader Keir Starmer endorsed the notion that women are at risk of violence from trans women, and when he did so in support of a notorious Labour transphobe, few people outside the U.K. noticed.

Did he actually say that? The source this article linked to contained no such quote from Keir Starmer (who I had to Google).

While anti-trans violence is far from rare in the U.S.

According to the FBI's 2020 stats on hate crimes, there were over 3 times as many hate crimes committed against gay men for their sexuality as there were hate crimes committed against transgender-identified people for their gender identity-- so anti-trans violence is rarer than that. And lest someone accuse me of whataboutism, just to put it into perspective, let's do some low-quality napkin math...

  • there were 196 hate crimes targeting transgender people in 2020 (according to the above link).

  • This 2017 meta-analysis estimated that there were about 1 million transgender people in the US in 2017, and suggested that that number has likely grown since. But to be generous, I'll assume that it hasn't.

  • 200-ish people divided by 1 million gives an incidence of approximately 0.0002 or 2 in 10,000, so, roughly 1 in every 5,000 transgender-identified people (or less) experienced a hate crime for being transgender, in 2020.

Now, that's not nothing. Nobody should be experiencing hate crimes. At the same time, at that rate you'd have to meet five thousand transgender people in order to meet one who actually experienced a reported hate crime. I dunno, I think that is kind of rare.

Transgender rights activists' counterargument would probably be that there is severe underreporting going on. It's possible but there does not seem to be evidence for that claim. What would we expect to see if there WAS severe underreporting? We might expect to see some sort of cultural taboo against talking about it, for one. Yet, to the contrary, the media jumps on and broadcasts individual anti-trans hate crime stories and many in the American left are extremely sympathetic towards trans-identified people.

Thankfully I don't give a flying fuck about anything the EU says or thinks.

I want my country out of the EU. The UK was right to leave. Sadly, my country is the most pro-EU country, so we could be the last one out.

Here is a series of screenshots I’ve captured of the article posted on Imgur, because for some reason Archive.is don’t archive pages from the LA Blade.

Yeah, that guy who wrote the article is a head case. The UK left are not transphobic. They are still grabbing their ankles for TRAs. It’s just that some British people on the left want transgender people to recognise the responsibilities that come with their rights, and don’t want the gay community to be overshadowed by a completely unrelated cause. But yeah, let’s compare the UK - which has same sex marriage - to Poland, Turkey and Russia - which don’t recognise same sex relationships at all - and to Hungary - which has civil unions but bans same sex couples from adopting children, and which restricts the discussion of homosexuality in the media like Russia does. This clown is off his rocker.

I only skimmed the article but as far as I can tell their only problem is that the Guardian occasionally publishes some not 100% TRA agenda pieces (which are far outnumbered by their pro-trans articles) and even that amount of opposition is Not Okay.

Gee i wonder why the common factor is here. Probably starting fights with people.
