I hate this business model, you "buying" it means it's never on your PC. That means if you want to watch the same movie twice you gotta "download" it twice. Which I find to be a huge bandwidth wastage. So we pay for the movie AND for bringing it to our device? That's stupid considering people have data caps. Fast internet access is what has enabled these parasites to manifest.

I hate that so many services/websites assume that everyone has fast, unlimited internet access, while sitting in an air conditioned room on a comfy sofa with the latest iTrash ® device which has unlimited battery life, and a cooling system which can put the 16 radiators on the original Veyron to shame.

Sometimes, or maybe all the time, conditions are less than optimal. So many times I've been stuck with slow 2g internet in a place with scorching heat making me sweat buckets and I just want to know the damn directions to my destination. Google maps has never helped, it's always HERE or OpenStreetMaps. Because Google relies on your data connection to get map data. While it is a smart idea to make sure people are getting the latest maps it's retarded in the sense that it's either the latest maps, or "good luck loser"

Edit: just back from a test that used a Google form. When I logged in they suddenly thought to verify me for no reason at all. Luckily had my phone with me. Otherwise shit would've been tough. Reminds me, was denied access from my account once when I needed it the most. Was appearing for a 5 day long interview/test for joining the army, and my phone was lying face down in a suitcase somewhere. They wanted me to verify on my phone. Keep in mind I have disabled 2fa. It was simple enough to make a new account on proton mail but was still frustrating. Imo if I have the username and password that's all they need to know - even if they're a hacker just let them in.

I switched to DDG long back and haven't looked back. Google is a pisspool. If I search for something I want search results, not answers, how hard is that to understand? If you search for something, first thing at the top of results is an 'unfurled' result. This is HORRIBLE because it is always taken out of context. Next comes the 'answers' kind of thing which is also the same thing - taking things out of context, and irrelevant. Somewhere in between are one or two search results. Also, God forbid your query resembles some kind of pop culture thing. then the entire page is only about that. Yes DDG also does that, but everytime I have seen it unfurl results only from Wikipedia and with the article having the exact same name as your query.

Example of the 'unfurled' results fooling a journalist. Some journalist said that an armoured electric vehicle used by Winnie the Pooh also called Xi Jinping did 0-100 in 1.9 s. Apparently the unfurled result 'helped' the nigga a lot.

What they did was make memes out of it and 13/50 happened a lot, to which people spammed "NIGGER" in comment chains in the replies. That's all it was. I'll start, though it is pretty mundane.

Was climbing a mountain far from home. It was daylight, so that wasn't too creepy, besides it's a well known spot.

There were some fucking monkeys there. They were kind of used to people... Well they were used to stealing food from people.

There was this guy and he seemed to be the alpha male. He opened up my sack and took out a plastic bag. I'd have gladly let him take any food item he wanted from that bag, but the problem was that bag contained my scooter keys, my wallet and my phone (it was raining heavily).

Fuck.

I had to make a decision, i tried to take the bag back but they monkeys reaction was highly motivating me to let go.

Thankfully he removed and carefully set aside my shit (on the edge, few inches from a very deep gorge) and took my food items.

I took them and went away.

Call me a coward, but I was freaking scared.

It is probably boring lol, but here goes. I visited his account page and saw he was bitching a lot about something that wasn't a subreddit. After a while, I got the picture: there was some bot who showed some statistic about any account, and apparently bardfinn was upset because the bot was being used by le Nazis to harass him. He wanted the owner to take the bot down unless owner adds an ignore option to the bot - u/polcompbot was the name.

Think about it: a bot which shows info about a user's history and nothing else, being used for harassment! It's like you being harassed by having the nwordcountbot being called on you again and again!

So I said all this to him throwing some choice words. Of course he said I was harassing him. I think reddit administration must be pretty sick of him crying REEE because even though I got a message for harassment, I didn't get suspended even temporarily.

Honestly I can't say it was their fault excepting one or two accounts of mine. I would troll a lot and accidentally violated the content policy a few times. There were one or two instances where they permabanned me for wrongthink, but mostly it was because of ban evasion (i have a static IP and over a dozen banned accounts maybe about 20). Loved farming downvotes.

It has one nice side effect though. You see, my internet connection is a bit different and the only broadband one I can get. One guy bought a leased line and everyone in my whole general area shares the same IP.

So anyone who makes an account on reddit would get it banned within a week. It's fun and harmless because if they want, they could use mobile data anyway.

It's not as hard to make a decent website with most required features for any purpose as they make out to be; it's just that they want to push their mobile app so they make the website as bloated as possible.

Never forget that before the smartphone explosion, everything worked on simple websites because a hell lot of people on desktops had DSL or cable internet or dial up and the cool kids with mobile phones had 2g or 3g at best. Good websites were made to be light and minimalistic. Now with the rise in internet speed and processing power, those priorities took a backseat.
