The usual modus operandi for the sitewide admin to eliminate a community is to bring in outside moderators (supermods, not unlike super delegates) who will then allow rule-breaking content to proliferate when it is posted by their allies. Then the admins will move in and nuke the sub.

They don't even make it a secret. It's openly bragged about on the usual subs that receive no attention for their own rule breaking.

I agree, this makes sense based on what I've seen.

Those fucking weenies, just ban it already

Seems like they're trying hard to swing November. They will be banned or hugely restricted by then, I imagine.

Leftist communities on Reddit often implore the company to ban The_Donald. So far, Huffman has demurred. “There are arguments on both sides,” he said, “but, ultimately, my view is that their anger comes from feeling like they don’t have a voice, so it won’t solve anything if I take away their voice.” He thought of something else to say, but decided against it. Then he took a swig of beer and said it anyway. “I’m confident that Reddit could sway elections,” he told me. “We wouldn’t do it, of course. And I don’t know how many times we could get away with it. But, if we really wanted to, I’m sure Reddit could have swayed at least this election, this once.” That’s a terrifying thought. It’s also almost certainly true. Source

Guess Steve and Jessica decided it's time to sway one.

But seriously, what % of American voters are on reddit rather than, say, Facebook or Instagram? Could they really sway elections?

RIP T_D

I was never a subscriber, just occasional reader when it got linked through Drama or wherever. No doubt about it, the sub will go to shit, it's inevitable when Admin-selected mods are given control. They will purge posts, rewrite the concept and tone, and implement rules that have nothing to do with the original purpose and everything to do with their personal beliefs about wrongthink.

I do gotta say though, I'll be grabbing lots of popcorn while keeping an eye out for the fallout from this. Their users are already planning riots as they flee - blaze of glory and all that.

So Voat might be getting some new members.

Or saidit, if saidit allows it.

Not voat, their last attempted migration to voat was a shitshow.

Other than thedonald.win, here else is there to go?

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

If you want that particular brand of Make Israel Great Again nationalism and "pep rally" styled pro Trump censorship that's your only bet.

This place is more debate centric and voat will troll the shit out of everyone for all of their ideologically inconsistent positions and refusals to acknowledge the elephant(s) in the room.

This place is more debate centric

This place is a tumble weed convention. The most active posts have like 4 comments after a week. This place has promise, but it is anything but debate centric.

Even though you're in a 1 day thread with 14+ posts. Embellish much?

[–]bonked_or_maybe_not 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Take a look at the default front page. I'll stand by my statement. Also, you might enjoy this.

Yes, I'm aware that comments can be slow, was just pointing out the irony.

Everyone talks about attracting more users to the party, but no one really talks about whose going to buy the beer, so to speak. At some point that entails more server costs which would eventually lean toward advertising for funding. Advertisers encourage censorship, so then the party ends and you're back to square one.

[–]bonked_or_maybe_not 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It is absolutely a chicken and egg problem, my issue was with the op's claim that this place is debate based. It simply isn't because it isn't populated enough yet. Comments make or break digg-a-likes. Right now, that needs to be greatly fomented to help this place grow.

That's mainly from a lack of advertisement. We need to offer something here that reddit and voat can't.

Then we need to tell people about it.

tbh I like this site, but I'm only here because I was tired of having my accounts banned.

The majority of people with banned accounts are usually the type of people who go over to voat. Usually.

The_Donald over in reddit is in between a rock and a hard place. If thedonald.win didn't exist I would have recommended them to this site.

Do we really want that many that many people on this site discussing politics? Does saidit even offer something that thedonald.win doesn't already have?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news: Saidit really doesn't have a gimmick. There's not much to make it stand out. The mods here are nicer. The site staff are nicer. That's not enough to drag the normal people off from reddit... yet.

I agree with your sentiment, but i disagree with the "gimmick" approach.

Gimmicks are great if you wanna get rich.. find some fad, exploit it, and sell for big money before the crescendo.

My opinion is people have to be willing to invest their time in being part of the community. That's slow unfortunately.. You can get a fancy VPS with databases and analytics or buy a small server, business internet connection, and run a bboard and irc server from your closet, but the people have to come and build a community.

And usually the site owner has to be part of it because they believe in the community.. Otherwise, users end up feeling like they're just being monetized or they end up just like at reddit where certain groups get exploited. It's hard on the users because people don't want to leave, for any number of different reasons. It's worse When you realize you've invested so much time somewhere, and it's terrible to feel like it's wasted time, but sometimes the neighborhood goes to shit, that's life, sometimes people just need luggage.

So far things are pretty good here. i think m7 does a pretty good job with the site. I'd like for there to be more action in other areas of the site besides debate, news or politics, it's slow going but at the same time there is some pretty crazy stuff happening in those three topics. I guess ultimately, you don't move into an up and coming suburb while expecting immediate city lifestyle and services. You just hope there's enough infrastructure to support a good base of ppl and hope the neighborhood builds out well.

Otherwise, it turns into Oakland, great if it's your tribe, but don't get caught on the wrong block if you don't belong.

Poal is picking up a lot of Voat refugees. Not sure if they're a good fit for Trumpets, they do talk about Jews and Zionists sometimes.

notabug.io is another one to check out

Oh my god, someone said nigger! The world is going to end!

HAHAHAHHA OH HOLY MOTHER OF GOD THOSE COMMENTS

I am speechless. It takes a lot for me to say that.

That is... That is something else. A picture says a thousand words, but that jpg summed up what people have been saying for years. The majority of Trump supporters are normal people.

Seeing that picture restored my faith in humanity for the day.

Why wouldn’t Saidit allow it?

Not have more than 500 Karma in quarantined subreddits or subreddits banned for rule violations

Looks like I'm ineligible to be a moderator for being a regular poster on MGTOW despite none of my posts ever being removed by reddit admins.

[–]fruitjack 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

good; it's time they got rid of the nazi scum from that sub

[–]darklogic 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

the_donald should have been banned from day one. How a fucking subreddit could exist for so long spouting lies, bullshit, personal attacks, calls for violence and attacks, and other garbage is proof that reddit was funded by the Orange Shitcunt to run his fucking subreddit in an attempt to win, and it worked. Make no mistake, reddit is largely responsible for that asshat being president.
