Good for you! I have always had to install it manually. Next time I will enable the DKMS thingy so I don't need to install it again and again.
In case you can't tell, I am not very good at this kinda things lol. Pretty sure I had mucked something up in BIOS settings some years ago which resulted in kernel panic.

Years ago when I got this machine, I think I had a kernel issue that was solved by disabling the built-in (or onboard) Intel adapter. Perhaps that's why it sounded strange to read you'd run into a kernel panic. The kernel developer would really want to know more about it if you can find a list to report it to them. They probably monitor askubuntu.com.
