if you're hardcore conservative i suggest gab and voat and such.

if you know really really sensitive shit i suggest either don't risk your life or wikileaks, as you should know.

there are many levels to privacy, the highest being the safest setting on tor (edit on a open-sourced OS under strong code review, like freebsd). there's this site that tells you how unique your electronic fingerprint is using the browser you're currently using. in other words, vpns don't really do that much. if you want to evade from an organization, it might help. if your vpn is provided by an organization that's good at computer security, that might help too. but if you just got one of those vpns recommended by youtubers, you can't prevent the government from tracking you. for more detail, see these two links:

  1. https://gist.github.com/joepie91/5a9909939e6ce7d09e29
  2. https://gist.github.com/kennwhite/1f3bc4d889b02b35d8aa

btw tor is made by the us navy if i recall correctly so american government is kinda an exception to tor tracking...though they might allow perfect privacy and anonymity because it's really a double-edged sword.

aaron schwartz did an experiment a long time ago and wrote an article called 'who writes wikipedia?' in which he points out that there's an inner circle of wikipedia users, a couple hundred people, formatting and re-organizing all the articles on it, making well over half the edits on the entire site. yet the bulk of information is contributed by the masses, he concludes.

i've seen conservative wikipedia somewhere. i forgot where. but if you could provide a source that'd be great.

also, in the future, please have constructive conversations that are based on facts, not opinions.

duckduckgo fed some more anti-google articles, of course. for example this is the first result typing the same query into duckduckgo: https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2021/05/getting_disappeared_by_google_.html

if you can't use vpn, try using tor (the onion browser).

this is quite dangerous trend, eric hoffer has this book called true believer describing this. i mean, revolution is really the costliest way to achieve one's political goals but blunt disagreement to the other side without any kinda tolerance to a more centrist view is driving society towards revolution. i would go so far to say that biden does a lot of right things in that regards of keeping that kinda pressure low but i think there are still very fundamental issues to the solved. oh well that's my two cents what do i know.

fucking chill already. i'm just a layperson who think about these things a lot and have some ideas about where things might go from here.

aaron became aaron because he wrote a lot of useful code, made a lot of real effort to change the world. from a very early age he excelled at both of these, and thus people made a documentary about him, the internet's own son. so when he's thirty years old, some of his programs became standards of the internet, and some of his ideas became congressional bills (SOPA, i think, look at his wikipedia page, or .gov page if you don't trust wikipedia).

if you really want to mold the world by your will, earn some serious money, write some really nice code, develop neat pieces of technology. then you have a real say in this world. because you can give your money away and become a part of an interest group or you can use your technology to gain productivity at scale.

Because you haven't skeptically researched it. Once you start it all becomes very clear very quickly.

scapegoats are used throughout history. if you read memoirs like the forgotten soldier (guy sajer), you'd find that germans are quite egalitarian among themselves (sajer himself has both french and german blood but you can still feel the egalitarian kinda atmosphere between the soldiers, the german home front commoners, etc.). so the only way to rally them up for war is to find such a scapegoat. and then there's chomsky, who's stance on israel is quite well known and is much much more well-read than many history professors i think. go search holocaust on chomsky.info.

i can only respond loosely to the other comments. but basically it's like this: a bat caught a cold, or something else, and suddenly the world is a much more dangerous place for many very well-off humans. twitter and facebook happened and the russians learnt SEO and suddenly trump was president. the black swans are creeping up to every aspect of our lives.

[–]blowininthewind 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

i don't think holocaust is a huge exaggeration, in that the allies have no need to exaggerate it at its discovery in '45. the allies knew from world war 1 that it's best to heal the wounds than tear your opponent apart, as france did to germany in the inter-war period. hence the marshal plan, the democratic germany PM's kneeling, the EU, etc. under this narrative it'd be best for the allies to downplay the holocaust. i think the fifties is a moment when good miraculously won over the evil.

as to our different view on history, here's what i think: vietnam turned capitalist, russia turned capitalist, the brilliant cccp scientists failed to produce a good computer that lasted til this day, americans and the west produced the backbone of the brand new computer industry by freely roaming around, really. china turned capitalist, cuba is now opening up. on the other side look at iran, north korea. all the balkan states are capitalist now. seriously the only social democracies that is genuinely good are all in northern europe.

oftentimes history is like: i planned this, then that happened, so the entire thing becomes another, totally unexpected thing. why? because history runs in parallel. a million things are happening simultaneously and you never know which ten of them is going to determine the main course of the future.

[–]blowininthewind 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

i'd agree that all politicians are mobsters. but note that the best mobsters are quite civilized when they make money. it's the lower level mobsters that do the dirty work.

russia suffered the greatest loss in world war 2, the second is china, but the holocaust is remembered, along with the rape of nanking, because they're not warfare. if warfare is white and ethnic cleansing is black, a lot of world war 2 is grey. but those two events are completely black: trained and armed soldiers against virtually defenseless civilians. nanking put up a very fierce fight using what was the best of the chinese military at the time, so in a way the japanese were letting out their anger. but holocaust is planned from beginning to the very end, however malicious its adversary (jewish people) might be, they're virtually defenseless.

history is full of coincidences, not planned actions. in the long run, nearly all plans fail, and nearly all coincidences happen to shape the course of history. external conditions (geography, climate, etc.) have much more effect on history than plans. to say history can be planned by a few plotting in the dark is to say command economy is effective ---- since a few can plan history by themselves, why don't half a dozen socialist nations produce a single good command economy?

where? there are ways to filter spam in foreign languages as there are certain patterns to them. unless they hook up some modern language model to their bot.

reddit is quite successful but there's facebook and twitter. perhaps there is a way to channel users to another forum through these platforms in the long run. i think forums like parler and gab has definitely used some other channels to do just this.

i feel like the general line for reddit is no trump supporters. the general line for saidit is no 8kun conspiracy stuff. then on the other side there's 8kun, gab, voat, raqqus, etc. might do an analysis (tfidf, etc.) to find out.

create your mirror site or your own saidit if you feel like defending yourself. i can help if i got time, for free speech's sake. but i think magnora's okay because i checked a lot of what he posted.

Saidit's 'free speech' is under attack from the new admin, who is of course a tranny. Check the moderation logs and see individual user posts to see what is being removed and ask yourself "is this level of censorship in line with saidit's rules, or are they serving a personal agenda'. by bobbobbybob in SaidIt

this seems really concerning at first. but could you provide more examples or have a mirror thread on gab or raqqus or such? like publish a pgp key on your profile page or something. i'm sure that's legal. because otherwise, i think based on the logs saidit's just been banning trolls, really. and that's kinda reasonable.
