There is a bit more activity over at Ovarit, but I wouldn't call it particularly busy... but that's sort of what to expect when groups splinter into multiple places. Maybe Instagram? I know for a fact that it used to be a good place for socialising, at least certain "groups" (read: accounts) - but that was years ago so maybe it has changed.

What online communities are people a part of by SickOfThisShit in Lesbians

None at all. The last online community I felt somewhat a part of was TL. I know that there’s the circle over on ovarit and Lchat for instance, but I am not that fond of the regular/old school forum layout of Lchat and Ovarit is... well Ovarit, although I suppose the lesbians circle is a bit different.

Report everything revolving around actual CP to the authorities then, that may or may not include fictional CP depending on where you live (I know fictional drawings and the like, depicting minors, is considered CP in many European countries). I have yet to actually see any CP there (in AHS), then again I haven’t looked for it either... my guess is that there isn’t any. LE does plenty when it comes to CP but someone masturbating in their own faeces while writing piss poor stories about minors is probably not a priority compared to the networks that record, distribute and take custom orders for hardcore CP... nor should it.

How do you find radical feminist women? by radlesbian in Lesbians

[–]al-Amira 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I have pretty much all my political and philosophical views in one form or another on dating profiles, which includes but is not limited to my feminist views which lies somewhere in the vicinity of radical feminism. But I never actually use labels on profiles ‘cause I never fully adhere to them (other than all the various words for female homosexual) as there are always parts of whole (in the package deal that are labels) that I vehemently oppose. But anyway, I think you are better off sharing your views from the beginning (as in, on a profile) at least if it (the view) is of major importance to you or rather that it is of major importance that your future girlfriend/partner/spouse/wife/whatever word you prefer shares the same views and values.

Lesbians who hike by [deleted] in Lesbians

Well... I don't hike as much as I'd like to, but I am planning on hiking after the summer, in Stora Sjöfallet's (Stuor Muorkke) national park (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stora_Sj%C3%B6fallet_National_Park). Living in (when I actually live there that is) in the very south of Sweden, I very rarely get the chance to hike in the northern parts... well, I don't get the chance to hike a whole lot at all and it's been a some years since I was up there the last time.

Have you ever stayed in a relationship too long? What was your experience? by piylot in Lesbians

[–]al-Amira 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Not really a relationship per se... well, I guess technically a relationship, where I only mattered when she needed validation and lifting up. Started out as friends, grew into something else where the name of the game (from her) was: be charming and caring for a few months, then completely ignore me for nine-ten months, be charming for a few months, ignore me completely. Rinse-repeat. Ended that... about an hour ago. Told myself last year that it was the last time, but this year she apologised and stupid as I am I thought that it might be different this time around - but I wasn’t too surprised when I noticed the same communication pattern as before, emerging in late October. Thought closure would feel better, but right now I just feel that I should have ended it years ago and feeling pretty stupid for actually believing her apology. Should even have left after the first time. Found out a bit over two months ago that she didn’t even know my birthday... after knowing each other for almost a decade, sort of shows how much she cared I suppose. Not even sure if she remembers my last name. That is the only “relationship” where I have stayed too long though.

Well, it only took them like 9 years or so to get it released on PC then. I think I bought it back in 2012 or something like that and even then it was a couple of years old I believe. I don't think I've ever changed a diaper in a video game before... nor do I believe I will, ever again. Was a fun and interesting experience to play that game.

Edit: I'm not really looking forward to VtmB2, but I suppose it would also make sense to postpone it as to not collide with a CP2077 launch.

Are you excited for the sequel?

Not one bit. I'm one of those people who played it in third person and see absolutely no reason to play it in first person and due to that arbitrary limitation I'll most likely not play it. I'm not particularly fond of the new world that they made for the 5th edition of Vampire, or rather I'm not fond of the people who write it. I'm also one of those people who thinks Cyberpunk looks boring as all hell, gorgeous as f but boring as hell when looking at the gameplay, which kind of sucks cause I have been looking forward to that game since a friend showed me the trailer for it literally years and years ago. Unlike Bloodlines 2 I will play CP though.

Edit: That said, I’m glad that those who are looking forward to it can finally get a Bloodlines 2.

I don’t really play a whole lot now a-days though, some Quake Champions on PC every now and again. I played through the first two Tomb Raider reboot games, but not Shadow. Oh and MGSV on PC. That’s about it really... unless I feel like playing what can literally be one of the best games ever, VtM: Booodlines.

Well, there's "mate choice" one of the driving factors for sexual selection (according to some). Mate choice is essentially one of the individuals (more oftan than not females) determining whom to have offspring with based on their partner's qualities, resources and phenotypes. However, when I'm not sure I would entirely equate it to what humans tend to view as preferences - but mate selection also happens in humans (probably just not as functional in modern society though), just not in the sense of dating ads that says "no one under 1.80m". There's a good book on mate choice, called... "Mate choice" by Patrick Bateson. On the other hand, there are those who argue that mate choice is just simply natural selection and that ascribing the ability to judge standards of beauty to animals is just too much, and there are studies amongst peafowl that both show and don't show that peahens choose their mating partner based on the peacock's train.

I doubt you'll find any animal being into shy animals though, it doesn't seem like a particularly good trait to have in a courting ritual.

Research assistant, not a job I actually want, but it's nothing more than a stepping stone for me, acquire some real life work experience before I move on academically. I wanted to become a teacher when I was younger but I'm so utterly terrible at teaching and explaining that it's not something I could actually pursue, not that I actually mind since I'm pretty satisified with my current plans.

If I could or rather if I had to choose anything, anything at all that can't be related to what I'm currently pursuing... explorer/tomb raider (ok - that last part sounds a bit, immoral)... the type of person that goes on expiditions or tries to find hidden treasures. The search for the Incan city of Paititi continues into the 21st centuryt, and there are those that dive for treasures that was supposed to be carried from Mesoamerica to Europe during the colonization/conquest/occupation/whatever word you'd like to use of the Americas, but sunk to the bottom of the oceans instead.

Russia has a lot of things to see if you ask me. It's not as though the Laika statue is horrible by any means, but it's more what it represents and I suppose that neither that nor the one I first mentioned can be considered works of art, at least I don't think that's what the creators intended it to be. That said I've always found street art such as graffiti or murals (particularly political ones) to be interesting.

Rice pudding, mostly because it can be found almost all around the world and thus you can never grow tired of the flavouring as it differs from region to region. Or sorbet, cause... sorbet can be made with a lot of different flavours and it's incredibly during summer evenings (as is evident by the amount of sorbet I've had this summer). But I think I will have to say rice pudding at the end of the day.

Animals tend to be the unsung, and more often than not, the involuntary and forgotten heroes/victims of mankind. There's a monument of Laika that just breaks my heart, that one I have visited in person though - and thank you, I hope I will too someday - but it's currently a bit difficult to justify that travel distance for just one monument. Had it been closer to St Petersburg or Moscow (the only two Russian cities I've been to) I would most likely already have visited it.

There are a lot of historical periods in human history that I would like to witness. Ancient Egypt for instance. I would have loved to experience the Inca civilization. Palestine in the late 19th century or just witnessing the uncolonized North America, Victorian era England would have been interesting as well. Even times like the stone age (I mean, that's kind of vague since it spans over more than 3 million years) are interesting... but I think I'd prefer sometime around when we learned to smelt ore or other periods where there were significant progress being made.

Hmm... if I could time travel, I could make myself into a deity to be worshipped throughout the ages.

I can only hope that the sub that was removed was actually checked by the people who own the servers that this site is hosted on and that they deemed that it was actually against server policies, rather than just catering to the whims of one single person. I don't know what the sub itself was about, however I doubt that anyone can actually twist the words so much that a sub for lesbians could be considered in violation of the server policies. In the demise of subreddits, it wasn't the server rules that were used against them, it was reddit's own rules that was used, the same rules that seems to have been partly dictated by the very same people that brigaded to have other places shut down.

Besides, if this sub can be shut down in that same manner as the sub that was recently removed - I doubt that the entirety of ovarit would be particularly safe (given the servers they're hosted on).

I'm of the opinion that doxxing for the most part is just utterly pointless. Sure, some groups - in particular women, are/can be quite vulnerable to such a strategy, but all in all it's just a stupid thing to do, not because I harbour any kind of sympathy towards this particular person in question - there's literally not an ounce of sympathy or empathy towards him. I just don't think it is a particularly good method for achieving anything really.

There are some really great youtube channels out there for that (leatherworking in general). Personally I pretty much only watched Ian Atkinson's videos on youtube, as I find his videos to the best when it comes to explaining but of course that's subjective. I currently just do 18+ stuff, done some phone cases and airpod cases. But I want to make bags as well (will probably start with boxes and a toilet bag) and shoes. Shoes are my end goal so far, most likely a long long way to get there though, but I'm not in any hurry.

La belle saison, not the best movie ever made, but I enjoyed watching it, probably because I stumbled upon it. Haute tension is pretty good if you're into that kind of movies. Raw (don't remember the French title) was pretty good, if you're into those movies. Personally I enjoy most of Audrey Tautou's french movies. Les rivières pourpres is also a decent movie, not the best - not bad either.

In Spanish I'd recommend [Rec], Amores Perros was good too if I recall correctly. Sin Nombre not a Spanish movie but Spanish speaking. I found El Infierno incredibly funny (dark humour and a lot of satire), not Spanish but Spanish speaking (Mexican movie). Then there's El Orfanato which was good as well.

I just find it odd to have the entire platform a women’s only (almost) space, it just makes it useless if you ask me - the one thing that was good about reddit was the sheer number of users and subreddits, made it easy to find answers to things. Having circles (as they call it) being female only would have been fine with me, but its their platform so it is their choice. I don’t lament it all that much though save for the fact that s/Lesbians seems to be split in half where one half is at ovarit and the other half here. And yes there are some vile people using this site but its not like I have to interact with them. There are quite a few people I’d rather avoid at overit too though.

[–]al-Amira 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think that there might be fewer lesbians at that age now than there was say... 15 years ago. Or rather, it should technically be the same or similar amount but I think it is easier to fall into the trap of doubting it or thinking that you might be one of the other sexual orientations that are around today. But it’s not as though there was an abundance of homosexuals in my school either, to my knowledge anyway. Granted my class was a bit weird I think cause we had three lesbians (myself included), one gay, two bisexual girls - all are still that today, in a class of 23 students. But then again, I only knew of one other lesbian in another class so. But it is not as though homosexuals are a large portion of the world’s population to begin with, we’re talking lower than 5% of the population low in most western countries. Saying 1-2,4% is more accurate than saying below 5%. Of course there is no sure way of telling the actual percentages but I doubt they’re much higher than a couple of percent.

I guess my go to genre is hip-hop, but I listen to a lot of different music really - ranging from jazz and blues to (obviously) hip-hop, trip-hop, electronica, punk, rock (of various sub-genres), classical, new wave. Currently I've been listening quite a lot to my favourite rapper of all time Vel the Wonder (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG4-hvqFCAQ) and a relatively newly found (musical) love, Hindi Zahra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwk9KEPcovU).

I think the leader singer of Shivaree is lesbian, she could be bisexual... then again, she could be heterosexual for all I know, but I think she's lesbian although I can't say for sure why I think so. The lead singer from Skunk Anansie is either lesbian or bisexual (I don't remember which) and Kaki King is lesbian and an amazing guitarist (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irCstf6Rn6k)

Well... I've been on a forum (Flashback) that had or has rather sub-sections for racist ideologies, it has sub-sections for left fascist ideologies, pedophilia, drugs, law enforcement, judicial law, cooking, men's fashion, electronics, physics, high school, biology, philosophy, sex work, bdsm, celebrities, animal rights, internet security, travelling, feminism, hunting, fishing, motor vehicles and so on and so forth. Sharing a space with pedophiles and sex workers doesn't make an escort who enjoys underaged clients, nor does it make me a chef, or a barrister, or a physicist. The only thing you're not allowed to do is sell drugs, or sell weapons, you can't use it to sell sex cause buying sex is illegal in Sweden (it's a Swedish forum, though the servers are not based in Sweden), you're not allowed to post child pornography - or links to child pornography, you're basically not allowed to do anything that is illegal, but any topic is up for conversation as long as it's posted in the correct section. Yes, the language used in some sections is vile - but it's nothing new that some people would consider me nothing more than a monkey based solely on my appearance the actions of some people, pretending it doesn't exist does nothing.

The one thing that reddit had going for it was diversity of subreddits and people using those places. Outside of truelesbians and dropthet I visited a gaming subreddit, linuxfornoods, a programming subreddit and one for future PhD students. Saidit will most likely never get the same variety nor amount of people and sub-saidits as reddit had and on here I just visit this sub and the DropTheT sub, because I just don't find saidit as good as reddit was (while I still have my reddit account, I don't use it anymore).

I get the original point of Ovarit, being female centric and males being allowed with restrictions, but at the same time - I don't see any personal benefit of joining it. Yes, I enjoy female only spaces as much as every other female (I mean there's a reason I was at truelesbians and there's a reason why I'm here), but I don't see any reason for having the entire platform female only - I find it very limiting (that might sound like a bit of a contradiction to what I just said in the beginning of the paragraph) and most of the circles Ovarity currently has are completely uninteresting to me but even if they were to create more circles (do love that they're calling them circles though, easier to fit into conversations about it and takes me back to the times of workshops and education circles) about things that would interest me there would probably still not be enough members to make the circles thoroughly interesting or informative.

But that's ju my opinion of course - people should be wherever they get the most out of the conversations I guess.

I'm from Palestine, if the Israeli authorities (i.e. police, military or intelligence) finds out about you being a homosexual, they'll pressure you into working for them else they'll out you. If the Palestinian Authorities find out, they'll pressure you into working for them else they'll out you. With working with them I mean, as a spy or informant. Homosexuality was decriminalised back in the 50s I believe, but there is still a social stigma about being homosexual and you'll most likely face being ostracised by your community.

Thankfully I grew up in Sweden and on an everyday and legal rights basis I think the situation for homosexuals is fine, legally you're not allowed to discriminate based on sexuality for instance (amongst other things) and it is generally accepted amongst the wider population. There are no real female only places, and the few that does exist sees transwomen as women. The focus from homosexuality and bisexuality to trans in the LGBT communtiy started years ago really and that I lament. So... from a legal stand point it's fine, from a cultural standpoint I wish things would improve for lesbians (but I guess also for gays - I can't speak for them) quite a lot, like lesbian only or at least female (not inclusive to transwomen) only spaces and the like. There's a discrepancy on views on homosexuality depending on where you are in Sweden - and I don't really mean rural contra urban environments, but rather what suburban area you're from or you're in, being openly homosexual in some suburban areas will (most likely) lead to harassment from someone - meaning the discussion about homosexual ethnic minorities and their every day life really needs to be raised.

Currently living in the Netherlands and... while I did visit clubs and bars before, that was literally years and years ago and since I don't really know anyone here (well, other than co-workers and a girl whom I have a crush on that only recognises my existence when she wants some validation) and with the situation of Covid-19 I don't really know what the situation is like from a cultural perspective anymore, and I guess that the legal and civil rights for lesbians is as it is in most of western Europe.

I am not uncomfortable with the place itself, nor am I that uncomfortable with people expressing those things... I am well aware that these type of people exists - most of them are literally just unintelligent (seems to be a common theme amongst populist supporters).

Very few of them are violent and fewer still are extremely violent. Those that are, are (probably) unlikely to express their views and opinions on public forums like this (too easily monitored).

Dumb people expressing their thoughts or seeking attention is the price you pay for freedom of speech. It’s not like it will go away just because you change the venue for conversation. Changing platform all the time will most likely just reduce the amount of people that will join the conversation, there is a threshold for how many sign-ups I want to do and new layouts I want to get accustomed to.

If I’m concerned, it’s about the closed Telegram groups and private forums where members of groups like NMR (Nordic resistance movement) are sharing ideas and thoughts.

How do you deal with the anger and depression? by [deleted] in Lesbians

It might be a bit of a redundant advice, given the current state of pandemic, but things like boxing (and anything else that is similar) is great for both anger and depression or being down. It doesn't have to be the same type of boxing people who wants to make career out of it attend, but just using gloves, a partner and focus mitts are great and I think that might actually be a universal feeling due to how humans function on a primal or very basic level when it comes to fight or flight. But... given social distancing and so on and so forth it's probably pretty poor advice at the moment.

Ouch, that sucks. Maybe if more feel the same way, you should complain - particularly if you're in the U.S as you're literally paying to attend courses. If I attend something like computer science, biology or anything really and time is taken away from those courses by discussing... say, Durkheim's theory about anomie, I'd find that worthy of complaint cause I'm not there to learn or discuss those things.

The way anti-semitism is used here is pretty much on par with how TRAs use the term transphobia, meaning it doesn't mean anything what so ever. Anyone who doesn't choke on Netanyahu's cock is an anti-semite or self-hating Jew according to Israeli officials and the western media.

Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell

Tori Amos Live at Montreux

Sisters of Mercy - Floodland

Skunk Anansie - Brazen

Skunk Anansie - Twisted

Skunk Anansie - Selling Jesus

Skunk Anansie - Weak

So... I have a thing for Skunk Anansie, I love Skin's voice, can't help it. Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell is one of the best duos I've heard, granted I love Mark's voice as well and his lyrics. Sisters of Mercy is... well, I love the lyrics and the sound of that record. On the topic of lyrics, I also love Tori Amos' lyrics, particularly the songs she performed at that live performance in 91/92. I think that's about all that I have in the category or rock or folky type of music. Well, Leonard Cohen as well I suppose.

Well... I didn't have a word for it, but when everyone else in my class during the fourth grade started getting into relationships (which equated to holding hands during breaks) I wanted to do that with one of the girls in my class whom I thought was pretty. So I guess since I was like 10 years old. Was around the 7th grade that I actually got a word for it though.

Well, I take daily walks. Most of the time I just do it because I enjoy it - sometimes I do it because I need to clear my thoughts and re-focus on the things that are important to me. I try to avoid things that puts me in a certain mood or state of mind, which sometimes is easier said than done. But for instance, online I avoid as much bullshit as I can. Pay as little attention to idiots as possible. All in all, just do the things you actually enjoy doing I think. Sure, it's probably not the best idea for clinical depression but it works for being down and disillusioned.

Orphan Black, a sci-fi thriller set in our contemporary world, over all an incredibly well done series that to me never had any real weak moments. One of the main characters is lesbian.

I think your comparison to cultural subcultures like goth is completely off, not only is the comparison off - your analysis of what goths are feels quite off as well. You'd be better off comparing them to neo-nazis or some other political faction. That aside, no I don't think it will die off - cause unlike neo-nazis (and definitely unlike goths) these people have actually managed to get people fired from their jobs, they've managed to change the discourse in LGBT organisations, they even made governments consider people being allowed to change legal gender by nothing more than just signing a piece of paper. Corporations are gobbling it up like it was crack cocaine, their supporters too, just look at how it went from Black Lives Matter to Black Trans Lives Matter and no, that's not just something spewed forth by reddit TRAs, it's regurgitated by people who probably don't even know what TRA ideology actually is, sure the change isn't official but still a lot of people still add trans lives to it. Other things they've changed includes, but is not limited to words such as latinx instead of latino or latina and has been around since 2004 at least. University courses are also being affected by it, granted so far only in the social sciences. So... no, I don't think it will die out any time soon (eventually it will, unless it's been so firmly rooted that it's still there but just in a diminished form), there might be less people transitioning but I think the 3000 different genders will still be part of the discourse. I hope it will, but I very much doubt it... so please gender-confused people, prove me wrong.

If you want something easy to make (but still takes some practice to master) that is relatively cheap and with few ingredients, I'd recommend chive & cheddar (you can use whatever cheese you want though, preferably one with a lot of taste) omelettes. Omelettes in general are quick and easy once you get the hang of it and you can add pretty much anything you want to it. As for what I cooked, cheese ravioli served with sauteed mushrooms and herbs.

I know it exists, but it's either very difficult to find in physical copies (from the lesbian pulp fiction time) or it's in ebook formats.

It's been theorized by some that the "protecting the minority" thing on Reddit does not apply to women, because in the US (where Reddit is based) women are technically a majority at 52% of the population.

I think it just has to do with the fact that groups like AgainstHateSubreddits and many of the TRA overrun subreddits mass reported everything labeling it 'hate' and in the spirit of wokeness, which is not limited to trans-wokeness but also racial, they just decided to go with it. In at least one (heavily upvoted) thread where TL was mentioned over at AHS the OP actively encouraged people to stalk mods of those subreddits on other platforms like twitter, to see what they were up to, sort of goes to show what level of zealotry that place harbours - they're akin to the neo-nazis who show up at demonstrations or political events to take photos of lesbians, socialists and other 'unwanted' people that they later share amongst themselves (and yes, that happens quite often).

I was only semi-active during the past few months, I can't say that I've ever been a particularly avid reddit user, a game subreddit, TL and DropTheT. I have the same name here as I used on reddit. Recently turned 30, from Palestine, grew up in Sweden, currently living in the Netherlands. Got a master's degree in molecular biology, going for a doctorate after I've gained a bit more laboratory experience. Most of my wake time is spent reading or studying and trying to advance my python programming a bit. I enjoy watching series or movies, if they're good that is - love music, if it's good music. I generally don't listen to genres as much as I listen to individual artists or musicians.

Someone created Biologyfetish as a subreddit and it was closed down as well. I think that if you want to create something, do so but keep it private at first, then open it up next week or something like that - cause AHS and other groups that wants to remove any and all opinions that doesn't match their own are actively stalking members outside of reddit and they're also watching for new subreddits.

Edit: That said, questioning the decision to mods at reddit might be a good idea, if not only to make reddit mods use up as many resources and as much time as possible into things you don't really care about.

I'm still getting the hang of this potato option.

I'd rather have a potato option than a Stasi site. The AHS subreddit is literally encouraging members, in some of their threads, to stalk "unwanted" subreddits and/or their mods/members on other platforms like twitter.
