My girlfriend is from Brazil and had never heard of NMH, I played that album and now she loves them. My favorite album of all time, it's iconic.

Love Alt-J, I think Relaxer is their best!

I tell everyone to listen to Chromeo. Funk music, has a little something for everyone.

They had an old album with artwork where the keyboard legs were a woman's legs. During the Me Too movement they realized how objectifying it was, so they learned how to walk in heels, tanned/waxed, and used their own legs in all of the new artwork.

I've seen them live and I really can't hype them up enough.

Prince-inspired "Bad Decision" https://youtu.be/lToZrO4Zslg

I always love me some Florence and the Machine. I have Imagine Dragons( the first album), Hootie and the Blowfish, and LP ( Lesbian) on rotation. I really like Two Steps From Hell blaring when I work out.

Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell

Tori Amos Live at Montreux

Sisters of Mercy - Floodland

Skunk Anansie - Brazen

Skunk Anansie - Twisted

Skunk Anansie - Selling Jesus

Skunk Anansie - Weak

So... I have a thing for Skunk Anansie, I love Skin's voice, can't help it. Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell is one of the best duos I've heard, granted I love Mark's voice as well and his lyrics. Sisters of Mercy is... well, I love the lyrics and the sound of that record. On the topic of lyrics, I also love Tori Amos' lyrics, particularly the songs she performed at that live performance in 91/92. I think that's about all that I have in the category or rock or folky type of music. Well, Leonard Cohen as well I suppose.

I never heard of any of these peeps. What genre are they? Well, the majority. I listen to a lot of Christian hip hop or pop/r&b. There's this one Igbo singer name Yemi Alade who I began listening to. Nothing special...

I've discovered a great female composer and pianist named Carol Albert. "Stronger Now" my favorite of her's so far. Not exactly what type of music you asked for, but it's something different.

Listening to good ol' Tally Hall always succeeds in putting me in a good mood.

Mother Mother and Glass Animals are pretty mainstream but they're still great.

LP! I discovered her after someone recommended her on truelesbians. She makes great, very catchy music, has a unique voice, and is a lesbian. She’s also a songwriter and has written a number of hit songs for other artists.
