This looks amazing! In case anyone is curious, if you go to the game's official website there is a FAQ that lets everyone know JK Rowling is not involved in the creation of this game.

Q: What is J.K. Rowling’s involvement with the game? Is this a new story from J.K. Rowling? A: J.K. Rowling is not directly involved in the creation of the game, however, her extraordinary body of writing is the foundation of all projects in the Wizarding World. This is not a new story from J.K. Rowling.

Pyramid of Debate vs Echo Chamber subs by SaidOverRed in SaidIt

[–]southpaw 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I don’t know what you want. I don’t go on s/GenderCritical and you posted this on s/Saidit where everyone can see it. If you want to know specifically about GenderCritcal bans, ask them. I gave you an example of how “echo chambers” are formed, and since you seemed to know about r/ActualLesbians I used that situation. People gave you well thought out responses and you DID NOT use the Pyramid of Debate. Instead, you wrote a lot to try and sound smart and came off rather crass. If you want answers to questions and to encourage “Enlightenment Thinking” be respectful and use tact. If you are wondering why you get banned, maybe it is because you comment to people in a arrogant and ill-mannered way. And yes, you did come onto the s/lesbians board and post some nonsense.

[–]southpaw 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I do see what you are saying about an echo chamber vs a sub that engages in actual debate. When you are not in an echo chamber, it allows for discussion and a free flow of ideas. It also allows your opinion to be challenged and force you to see issues from another angle. However, there are also some subs that exist to allow for the camaraderie of a shared experience. As you pointed out on Reddit, r/actuallesbians was taken over by a lot of transwomen/supporters and banned anyone who didn’t agree with their belief that lesbians should fully embrace trans women as actual women. The mods over there strongly discouraged discussions about periods and other women’s issues, and would ban people who said they didn’t want to have sex with someone who still had a penis attached to them. The “refugees” from that sub made a new sub which was lost in The Great Ban Wave. Understandably, that sub on Saidit, doesn’t want to repeat history, so they made a rule that you have to be a female-born lesbian to participate in that sub. While that might sound like an echo chamber, there is still debate amongst the participants in that sub over issues that affect them. For instance, some users on that sub may support trans women 100% but disagree with TRAs violent bullying, while others may support a transperson’s right to transition but not their acceptance in women’s sports/prisons/shelters, whereas there are others who do not accept transwomen at all. From the outside, it may just look like they all just hate transwomen, but the topic is more nuanced than that because of their history and lived experiences as lesbians. Lesbians make up less than 2% of the population, and it is easy for their voices to get drowned out, especially in this current political climate. Also, since they are such a small group, it is nice to meet other women who may have a similar experiences as you, especially if you don’t know any other lesbians.

Yeah, I went through his post history bc I was curious. A lot of his post were ,”help what is my label, sexuality, wrong with my hormones, etc.” I am not a big fan of those posts. While I rarely downvote, sometimes if I keep seeing those types of posts I would. A bunch of internet strangers can’t tell you your sexuality and it clogs up my feed. Also, everyone gets downvoted a little bit on reddit- it shouldn’t drive you to suicide. Grow up.

What do you think of the new lesbian flag? by [deleted] in LGBDropTheT

[–]southpaw 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I am a fan of flags. The last pride I went to I saw so many new flags. At one point we were waiting in line and spotting the flags. I had my phone open to a page with all of the different LGBTQ2AA+ flags and we would identify them. I felt like we were bird watching lol. Honestly though, the amount of flags actually makes it confusing because some people had two and I had no idea what they were trying to convey.

I am not fan. I don't care for the color pink. Aesthetically, I think it has too many stripes and the white stripe sort of breaks up the flag. Oddly enough the white stripe represents trans lesbians. I am fine with the rainbow flag and I do love the labrys flag for lesbians because I like the symbolism.

My wife and I moved out of a busy city a few years ago and haven't regretted it one bit. Today we got chickens and I was thinking about the time Rush Limbaugh went off about lesbian farmers. Here is his quote:

Rural America happens to be largely conservative. Rural America is made up of self-reliant, rugged individualist types. They happen to be big believers in the Second Amendment. So here comes the Obama Regime with a bunch of federal money and they’re waving it around, and all you gotta do to get it is be a lesbian and want to be a farmer and they’ll set you up. I’m like you; I never before in my life knew that lesbians wanted to be farmers.

I never knew that lesbians wanted to get behind the horse and the plow and start burrowing. I never knew it. But apparently enough money can make it happen, and the objective here is to attack rural states.

I read the article and found this tidbit, "historically, scissoring was seen only as something that could happen between two vulva owners." I really don't like the term vulva owner. One the one hand it is degrading because it is defining women by their anatomy and on the other hand it sounds a lot like Volvo (the car company).

This is why TRAs need to know some basic anatomy... women have three holes: urethra, vagina, and anus. Our "front hole" is our urethra. I don't think most women want their urethra fucked. Also not all women menstruate. I thought their dysphoria was triggered by us talking about menstruation and pregnancy. I can't keep up with what is a joke and what is real anymore.

I am a slightly butch lesbian and I will say that I haven't had the best experiences with healthcare. I don't go to the doctor's that often but when I do, I make sure to dress more feminine. I have noticed if I dress more butch I tend to be dismissed. I feel like the worst experiences I have had are with female providers. I hate to say that. I feel like they are very apathetic and condescending. The worst PAP smear I ever had was from a female GYN and she made me bleed. It was horrible. Probably TMI but I have really horrible periods and my provider was basically like you can take birth control or continue to have horrible periods. I explained to her that birth control made me very depressed (I do not have depression at baseline) and she was like well there's nothing I can do for you. I do feel like the healthcare system really fails women and minorities whether they are straight, bi, gay, or other. Science tends to use white men for their research studies and apply that information to everyone. Also, I really hate being called queer. I know I need to get over it because "we reclaimed" that word but when I was bullied, that was the slur of choice thrown at me.

There is some very specific anatomy/biology that is a prerequisite for being pregnant and those women shouldn't have to self censor to appease the very very slim possibility of a pre-OP trans man needing pregnancy advice. Same with PCOS. I read those comments and I'm glad those women stood up for themselves.

I have never been on Tumblr in my life. I just went on there and typed in “ butch trans women.” It started off with A LOT of Eli Erlick pics and I was like ok, whatever but then it got weird. Like real weird. Is Tumblr just like Instagram for activists? I don’t really do social media.

Thank you for sharing. I feel like that would be a good book to read while doing some self discovery

I workout. You don't need a gym to workout. There are so many bodyweight exercises you can do or you can go for a bike ride. Something about getting your heart rate up helps get rid of the extra anxiety. A lot of people find a lot of benefit from yoga if that would be up your alley. There are so many free work out videos online now. If you are artistic, maybe starting a small flower bed or garden would be a nice thing to get into. I think working with your hands is such an important thing to do. It gives a sense of accomplishment. Also being outside will give you some vitamin D.

I read Dave Ramsey before going through a major life transition and it really helped me see the big picture. It is so easy to get caught up in trying to make ends meet that you can lose sight of actually saving for your future. I'll have to check this book out. Thanks!

Take My Wife (don't read about the actual actors relationship)

Derry Girls (subplot)

Legend of Korra (season 3 and 4)

Orange is the New Black

Edit- If you want a movie, The Miseducation of Cameron Post was excellent. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

It is really shitty that you get flack for being butch. Just know that you will be appreciated one day. Some ladies really really love butches ;) I feel like the younger you are when you become comfortable in your own skin the easier adulthood is in some ways. I know so many adults who are so hungry for an identity that they latch onto whatever they can, without ever knowing who they truly are. For instance women who are married with kids and all they talk about is their spouse and children. When you ask them about themselves, it is pretty shallow what comes out. Stay strong.

Edit: I'm not shitting on motherhood or straight women. I just used it as an example.

That breaks my heart! I get so mad when I read de-trans stories and the women were either butch lesbians or just plain old tomboys.

God, I miss gay bookstores. It was nice to have a casual chat with a stranger and get recommendations.

Five transmen?! That’s crazy. If you don’t mind me asking, how do your peers treat you in relation to the transmen? Are they considered “one of the guys” or are they treated more like women? Are any of the non-binary women more on the butch side? How are they treated?

Sorry for the questions, I’m just genuinely curious. I’m much older than you. I’m more of a butch lesbian. I can’t imagine my high school having a LGBT club. I was bullied for wearing more masculine clothes and I can still remember some of the homophobic things my teachers would say (like gays burn in hell, the US should consider throwing homos off buildings, HIV is what happens when you are gay, etc.)

I’ve been to a handful of Prides, and usually leave before the sun goes down. It just turns into a shit show once people get wasted. I am all for day drinking and celebrating, but some people take it too far. It doesn’t help that “allies” use Pride as a venue to pickup a third. I think alcohol + celebrating sexuality + hookup culture sometimes leads to a wild bacchanalia that can be discouraging to actual homosexuals.

This whole Reddit ban wave has been very eye opening. I didn't realize how many subreddits some people modded and how much that really does create an echo chamber.

Have you seen Twitter today? I don't do Twitter but #RedditHatesWomen is trending today and it popped up in my news feed. It is worth looking at for the artwork and screenshots alone. Reddit really fucked up when they left a bunch of porn/rape subs up but banned pretty much any subreddit that dealt with female specific issues.

I'm so pissed. I just went on TL to respond to a post and it was gone. I thought my phone was acting up but then saw a post talking about another ban wave. Thank you mods for making this place. I was a full-time lurker and occasional poster on TL (under another username) but I really appreciated the conversations on that sub. RIP TL but hopefully Saidit will be a better home for all of the Reddit exiles.
