They were banned. I'm surprised those subs lasted that long tbh but it's still majorly fucked up. I was hoping maybe TL and Drop the T would be spared under the policy of protecting the minority (bc us gays are a minority ya know), but clearly Reddit gives zero shits about gay people and does not want to protect us, and instead are entirely pandering to misogynistic, homophobic males.

Nah plenty of right wing subs got banned, and even meme subs like r/Wojak and r/BigChungus got banned, so not just women's subs got targeted, although female only/centric subs did get targeted. It's been theorized by some that the "protecting the minority" thing on Reddit does not apply to women, because in the US (where Reddit is based) women are technically a majority at 52% of the population. I don't think Reddit ever said anything about that but I wouldn't be surprised it they really did use that logic, considering how many misogynistic subs are still up.

That is why in most laws it is always said "Vulnereable groups and minorities" and not just minorities. Because, you know, billionaires - they are minorities, there not that much of them around. And by Reddit logic - they must be defended from anyone else.

It's been theorized by some that the "protecting the minority" thing on Reddit does not apply to women, because in the US (where Reddit is based) women are technically a majority at 52% of the population.

I think it just has to do with the fact that groups like AgainstHateSubreddits and many of the TRA overrun subreddits mass reported everything labeling it 'hate' and in the spirit of wokeness, which is not limited to trans-wokeness but also racial, they just decided to go with it. In at least one (heavily upvoted) thread where TL was mentioned over at AHS the OP actively encouraged people to stalk mods of those subreddits on other platforms like twitter, to see what they were up to, sort of goes to show what level of zealotry that place harbours - they're akin to the neo-nazis who show up at demonstrations or political events to take photos of lesbians, socialists and other 'unwanted' people that they later share amongst themselves (and yes, that happens quite often).

Look at the announcement post from the day of the first ban wave and look in the comments, a lot of people were asking if women weren't protected considering female centric subs got taken down while misogynistic ones stayed. And I'm not saying those subs weren't actively being targeted by TRAs and that it didn't played a role in the banning, I was just saying that there's a theory that women aren't protected under the new reddit rules.

I don't know what the policy is of posting links to other Saidit subs is, but yesterday I saw an interesting comment on the LGBDropTheT sub that included receipts on the Reddit trans admin Bardfinn, who is a massive cyberstalker and had been targeting these subs for a while before they got banned. https://saidit.net/s/LGBDropTheT/comments/5b2c/we_were_banned_on_reddit_on_july_10th_shortly/k9h0

There is no safe space for lesbians on reddit or other mainstream sites. We get banned and harassed from so called ‘lesbian’ subs then create our own and that gets banned. Makes me mad.

To me, this is the most power we have at our hands. Why help them generate ad revenue when we can instead focus on sharing the message that Reddit clearly sees women as lesser than men?

Editing to add that I won't be logging on or accessing Reddit going forward. I just can't support that company in any way anymore. Looks like I just freed up a bunch of time in my days, lol!

I think it depends on what you use reddit for. If it’s just for gay discussion and news then it’s not a horrible person. For me, I have a lot of hobbies so I like to use reddit to discuss said hobbies. I’d stay away from gay subreddits, however. They’re probably going to be even more cultish now that they’re celebrating this “victory” of theirs.

I’m really sad to see the sub get banned. It’s frustrating - we weren’t a hate sub. We were simply a sub dedicated to lesbians but with the way people talked about it you’d never know. I’m glad we have this website, at least!

    I am so sick of Reddit’s censorship. I post a lot on there for unrelated topics but I’m seriously pondering just giving it up. TL was a subreddit for lesbians who liked lesbians and not dick, but that’s too threatening for them? Damn, maybe I should look into l chat again.
