You find a web-based community small enough that you won't attract too much attention, and kind enough to let you in. You command your bots to join and to contribute to the community. Being bots, they don't have a lot to contribute to the conversation, but being bots, that doesn't stop them. As the botnet creators are generally adversarial, these bots carry a lot of antagonistic patterns in their database. Rational discourse is not part of their design.

The community watches as these newcomers fill the forum with gibberish. The bot masters test the limits of the community, trying to find how far they can go without being banned.

The bots attempt to invoke hatred in the community as a cover for their exploits.

Politics seems to attract crazy people. Rallies seem to attract violent people. Crazy and violent people seem to attract news reporters - "if it bleads it leads." Crazy violent people steal the focus and are a setback. Promoting good solid solutions is not as dramatic.

If I'm using google translate correctly, "Autoritätsdusel " is a compound word made of two words:

Autoritäts = of authority, and

dusel = fluke, luck, happenstance

The rest of the phrase translates directly. Maybe it should be: Accidental authority is the greatest enemy of truth.

The sense being, just because someone has credentials doesn't necessarily mean they know everything, but it is hard to convince people that you are right when you contradict authority.

Every so often a religion or a nation will come along that feels obligated to destroy the works of previous civilizations. I sincerely doubt micro-circuitry is going to last for millennia without careful conservation. Plastics either.

A few years back I read a book by some sort of brain scientist, I forget the details, but their research showed that people start with the conclusion and then they look for supporting evidence, although they believe the opposite - that they have arrived at the conclusion after weighing the evidence. This is due to the bio-mechanical structure of our brains, that's how the mechanism works, the neural pathways and such. Once a position is taken, people will posit and believe all sorts of unrealistic scenarios to support their position, tolerating high levels of cognitive dissonance, resisting changing their minds as long as they can hold out. From the headline I expected to find a bunch of liberal-bashing that would make me uncomfortable. When I read the article I was pleasantly surprised that it was quite balanced and not insulting at all. The article also shows: Republicans have in general a much wider perception gap than Democrats. People who share political articles on social media have a wider perception gap. Does that feel like an attack? Does it make you frightened or angry? do you feel like you have to lash out at me? Maybe, maybe not.

Ah, I see the confusion now. This article is about the "Social Justice Warriors" (SJW), a very vocal and radical subset of the left. I don't claim to represent them. The author of the article appears to be a liberal who is also frustrated by trying have a rational discussion with these SJW.

If you had a volcano that was predictable, so you knew where the lava was going to flow, you put your forms in its path and wait. Maybe the forms are made from something like plywood sheets that end up getting burnt completely, but leave blocks that fit snugly along that space where the plywood was before. Ah word-smithing, the favorite pass-time of law-makers. They are not banning the words for family members. They are just cleaning up some cumbersome language - changing "mother or father" to "parent", "brother or sister" to "sibling", etc. in specific places in this particular document, where they have specified a long list of family members that this particular law applies to. Thanks for the link - which I would call "watching the sausage being made." The poll workers don't get a much of a dress rehearsal, and they don't always get clear instructions, or understand them even if they seem clear. And they might not be good with crowds, if one shows up. A lot of this is unfortunate, and we have to do the best we can with what we have got. throwing out a whole precinct's votes because of one confused poll worker would be not at all fair to the people who voted in good faith.

Leads changing as the ballots are counted is very typical. I've seen it so many times, where my candidate takes an early lead and later ends up losing. The explanation: ballots coming from big cities with efficient counting systems often post their results first, while the rural votes take longer to tabulate. That's just the way these things go. Similarly with mail-in ballots compared to in-person voting. So those stories are not at all convincing to me, since I have been on the other side so many times.

I can't claim to have studied the rules of every state, but I would expect as standard procedure, there would be ways of verifying that ballots are not counterfeit, that the voters casting the ballots are registered, and registered voters are legal to vote, in every state, county, and precinct. That would be standard procedure, although each jurisdiction is free to make its own rules. I find it hard to believe that fraudulent voting on the scale to change the outcome could have occurred.

But in Peru, seems to me that they probably were living close to live volcanos, and could have developed techniques to direct hot lava from an active volcano into forms to cast the megalithic stones for their walls. Yep. Democrats and independents viewed the Republican candidate as so bad that they came out in droves to get rid of him, even though the Democratic candidate was only so-so. Seriously. Get over it.

As a software engineer, I find it highly unlikely that voting machines are programed to count the vote with floating point rather than integer data types. Fractional vote counts have not been used since the civil war days. As a mathematician, I have yet to see their evidence. Nothing is preventing them from posting it on the web. the links that I have followed have not been convincing.

We have made big strides in this area since the electronic voting machines were first adopted. In places like Georgia they did recounts using these paper records, now the election officials are being bullied: https://atlanta.cbslocal.com/2020/12/02/georgia-election-officials-receive-death-threats-during-recount/ Recounts are expensive, and are restricted, Depending on local laws, only candidates in the race can demand a recount. If there was fraud, it could have been Republicans who committed it, which might be why Trump got as many votes as he did, even though he lost overall. If you want to change the results of the electoral collage, you have to change the results of a state or states that went to the other side, not a state that you won. Challenging states that are on your side is counterproductive. You could end up giving Texas to Biden if you succeed in proving fraud in Texas.

Those are not ballots. Those are applications for mail-in ballots. Are the applications for real people residing at those addresses? Is there a law that says you have to fill out the application for yourself? Didn't Texas go to Trump, in spite of the friendly campaign worker who helped people fill out requests for mail-in ballots?
