A person with Asian ancestry felt insulted by the image of the chinaman. Made a big deal about it. People of color seem to be triggered by cartoons. I don't know any white men who feel like Elmer Fudd is ridiculing them, but I have met people who take images of little black Sambo personally.

The Chinese person is holding his chopsticks wrong, otherwise nothing racist. In the original story Little Black Sambo was South Indian and that would make him Tamil. Tamils vary in color but do not have Negroid facial features. Their color is usually more aubergine than black. Once you have seen a dark-skinned Tamil you would never mistake them for _______ (Please choose your PC word of choice for those People of Color who make up 13% of the US population.).

There's a right way and a wrong way for most everything, Mr. Smartypants, and he's doing it the wrong way.

We see him at one point in time holding a bowl and chopsticks. How do you know he's not eating and running at the same time? You've been on saidit for a month; how do you like it so far?

"Otherwise", lol. If he's holding them wrong, that's not racist. That's called a mistake.

Yes, but you never know what "they" might consider racist.

It is considered a racist caricature, it's not Seuss's personal style. A different one from Looney Tunes I think. Or search up "mammy black face." There's a term for the asian one, but I can't remember.

I've got an old looney tunes cartoon set, one episode has a nudie calendar in the background of a good chunk of it. Some other iffy episodes too. It's a gem so far as I'm concerned.

They're just giving seuss' books a 'rarity' price increase, inadvertently.

It was NOT just his art style. Consider it racist or not, then or now, Sambos and Japs/Nips were common unflattering comical stereotypes of the era.

Disney's 1940 Fantasia featured the stereotype, later censored, during Beethoven's 6th Pastoral:

Everything is racist in the eyes of a leftist. Even mowing your lawn.

Read this and thought "I wouldn't be surprised if that's an actual thing.".

        Sure enough, it's a thing.

shouldn't be asking how it is racist. should be asking why are people so fragile that a piece of paper upsets them

I dwell with Trump supporters, and I can tell you full well how they act. All of my family members are Trump supporters, except for my sister and myself. My sister supports Biden, I fucking hate all of the politicians and think very little of those who are following them into hell. Fragility has to do with the amount of psychological shock or exposure they can handle without losing themselves. Unfortunately, Trump supporters are supporting the same evil Biden supporters support, and this means that both sides of subservient followers are unable to face the true reality of the situation, thereby making them fragile.

If I were you, I'd expand your parameters. Do you support Trump? If so, then that might explain our disagreement.

It's racist because Theodore Geisel was a successful, popular and influential artist, now being cansuld by white-hating racists.
