If the last election has shown me anything, it's that change will never come from politics. Trump was the perfect candidate, not because I agreed with everything he said, but becaue he genuinely seemed like an outsider who believed in the things he was saying and talked about things no one else would talk about. And what did we get? A few (insignificant) tax cuts, that's it. Mass immigration continues, welfare continues, gun bans are getting crazier, swamp has not been drained. No wars have been ended, the FED's power has not been limited, tech censorship is getting worse and worse. Either he doesn't want to do it, or he can't. Either way, change will not come from the government. The idea that you can infiltrate the mafia to change the mafia is insane. It remains insane.

You are correct. Humans can do these things. Animals can not. Just like a criminal is not protected from the law, just like a thief is not protected by property rights, an animal is not protected by morality, because it can not act morally. In order to do that you need the intelligence to conceptualize eithics, which animals lack.
Yes, animals can still suffer. But aversion to suffering is a subjective preference. Personally, even though I prefer that animals are treated well and not abused, I don't care if an animal has to die or suffer so I can eat it. I care about humans in a different way specifically BECAUSE we are different from animals and are capable of acting morally. I don't care about the rights of amoral creatues (human or otherwise), because they don't care about my rights either.

Yeah I don't know, I don't feel particularly threatened about Jews replacing me. When I look outside (living in Germany), what I see is a bunch of brown people (usually muslims) replacing the native population. I don't see jewish restaurants open at every corner, I don't see videos in Hebrew popping up in my country's youtube trends every time I open the front page. I never heared about a bunch of Jews roaming around molesting or stabbing people. There are no gangs of Jews taking over the underworld/crime scene, to my knowledge. So I don't know this is really something I need to focus on.

I'm glad most people don't have that attitude. Because we would still be living in the stone age if they did. Progress is generally a result of trying to make life easier, more pleasurable, to avoid hard work or to gain more of what you desire.
Trying to conquer suffering sounds nice, until you get a major tooth ache - in that case I'm pretty sure most people would prefer to get rid of their suffering by visiting the dentist.
Trying to conquer your suffering is what you do when you have no means to avoid it, or when it is a necessary price for avoiding greater suffering in the future. Every reasonable person lives like that. You live like that. Get off your high horse.

That is very reasonable behavior, if you believe in an afterlife, which I don't. But you are proving my point. Your goal in life is happiness, just like mine. You wake up every day thinking that you will end up in heaven or whatever you believe in, and that makes you happy. If you abandon what you believe is the true purpose in life, you would be miserable because you would wake up every day thinking you would end up sodomized with a trident like us poor sinners.

I see a problem with socialsm in America, not with banking or media. Yes, large parts of the media are corrupt, the driving force behind this is socialist/communist doctrin, not jewish doctrin. Yes, the money system is fucked up, that's a result of central banks and government regulation (both socialist concepts, not jewish concepts).
Jews are often very successful in white societies because they have a high average IQ, especially in the verbal area, hence why they often pick influential positions like banking or media. Same reason why Asians often choose engineering, because they have particularly high vial/spacial skills. No conspiracy behind it.
Finding jewish contributions to society and art isn't very hard. Before you make me do a google search, Ayn Rand for example was of jewish origin and she wrote some of the most influential novels of American history (yes, she was an atheist, but jews are a people, not just a religion). I'm sure because you're not a "normie" like me, you spent a lot of time memorizing all the negative examples, but maybe you should look up some of the positives as well.

If you think I'm a moral relativist, you haven't read what I said. I made a case for why ethics is objective and universal.
You on the other hand put forward a standard of ethics that is bound to whether something is "life-affirming" or "life-negating", which in turn is a completely subjective standard. And besides, rape can be life-affirming (let's say a woman doesn't want children), that doesn't make it ok. Regarding happiness (yes I know that's how it's spelled, I typed it wrong a few times): Your primary goal is happines too, even if you don't admit it. The things that make you happy may differ from those that me or others happy. You seem to be focusing on long-term happiness a lot more than short-term. You can eat a bowl of sugar and maybe that will make you happy for about 10 Minutes, but it decreases your happiness not long after that. But if you decide not to eat a bowl of sugar, that's because you want to maximize your happiness in the long run, which is a pretty smart strategy. But happiness is by definition that which motivates us to act. If I give a homeless person money, then because it makes me feel good to be charitable. If it made me feel miserable, I wouldn't do it. And neither would you.

To refute an argument, you can either show that the statements made were false, or that the statements made were irrelevant in regards to a certain conclusion.
I showed that the specific text passages that he quoted were irrelvant to the point that we should focus about 112% of our attention on this side on the supposed evils of one small and generally peaceful minority of people, by pointing out that what matters is not the wording of specific religious texts, but rather the implementation of those belief systems in the real world, and by pointing out that all major religions have problematic passages in their religious writing.

Again, there is a difference between personal taste and ethics.
I can, for example, explain why rape is wrong. You can not want to be raped, because rape implies that the act is involuntary, therefore, in order to accept that rape is morally good, you would have to accept that rape is both bad (as done to you) and good (as done to others) at the same time. That is not a coherent position, and therefore illogical. Therefore, arguing for rape to be ethical is impossible.
You can make the same argument about things like murder, assault, theft, etc. But you cannot make the same argument about trans poeple or polyamory. When it comes to bestiality, animals are not protected by morality the same way a more intelligent creature would be. If it is ok to kill an animal for food, then it is (morally) ok to fuck it (though, again, I find it disgusting and would never encourage it).
The ultimate goal in every person's life is happyness. Happyness is the only goal that we don't persue in order to achieve something else. Some poeple are happy when they hack their penis off. And while I may not agree with this, I do not have the right to stand in the way of their happiness, nor am I in a position to decide for them what makes them happy. I just don't think children should have their mind poisoned by this stuff.

All religions have bad aspects about their texts and teachings, because they are ancient institutions from a time that was, by today's standards, barbaric and unscientific. What matters however is how a religious text is interpreted, and how it is lived today. The bible has problematic aspects to it, but christian teachings today for example focus more on the new testament, holding the other cheek, that kind of stuff.
This focus on Judaism as an object of hate is becoming very annoying on this site, and I must say that it discourages me from using Saidit more and more. I don't see western society (or any society) being threatened by jews. Jews have lived in our societies for centuries, contributed to our culture in meaningful ways, and were productive and often very successful members of society. How is (government) health care funded? Taxation. Taxation is a violation of property rights. You are threatening to put people in jail or kill them if they resist, when they don't pay money that they own and have not signed over voluntarily, to fund other people's health care.
There is no such a thing as "that kind of socialism". Every socialist policy has the threat of a gun behind it, and the only reason why we don't see bloodshed is because people usually do not resist, which they would have every right to do.

I think a direct democracy would be better than what we have, but it would still not be a society based on freedom. It would be a society where everyone has to subjugate himself to the whims of the majority, of the mob. A society based on freedom would mean you can do what you want, as long as you don't limit the freedoms of others (i.e. attack or steal from them). A direct democracy means do what you want as long as it doesn't collide with the interests of the majority. Sometimes, a democracy (direct or otherwise) is two wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for dinner.

"Yes, you own that thing you workd hard for, but only as long as we deem it appropriate, and once we decide to have our revolution we will take it from you at a whim, in order to alleviate you from such an antiquated burden."
The truth is, people could already live in socialism right now if they wanted to. Socialists all around the world could put their money in a big pool, govern it as they see fit, and no capitalist in the world would do anything to prevent it. The truth is, capitalists have no problem with socialism either, as long as it's voluntary. But the truth is, voluntary socialism is just another form of capitalism. Capitalism is simply what you get when you let people choose how they govern what is rightfully theirs.

Actually, no. "Engineering" society always means forcing your citizens to act in a way that they normally wouldn't, otherwise there would be no point to it. If you think you know better what people should do than any person him-/herself, not only are you being incredibly arrogant, you will only harm people, not help them. Because chances are that most of the time, you don't even know what's best for yourself, let alone others. The best way to organize society is to let people be free.
You think that good and evil do not exist, think again. You don't want to be told what to do by a thereat of force. If you want to be told what to do, force is not necessary. That means you cannot want to force others to conform to your needs, and remain intellectually consistent. Either freedom is for everyone, or for no one. Evil people always want freedom for themselves, but enslave others.

The children who worked during the industrial revolution would have died prior to the industrial revolution, before capitalism raised living standards to a point where most children didn't die as infants, and provided the opportunity to earn their living. Nobody wants children to work in coal mines, but it is preferable to them dying. Their poor living conditions were a condition of nature, counteracted by capitalism. As soon as living standards raised to a point where child labour was rendered obsolete by the market and had fallen largely out of practice, the british govenment prohibited it and claimed that it saved the poor children from the "evil capitalists".

If a corporation were to hire mercenaries to control a piece of land that they don't own, that corporation (if successful) would be the government of that land. I want to prevent that. The way to get rid of government is not to install another government.
What you are essentially saying is that a stateless society would be impossible. I disagree. If people can abolish their current government, they can prevent a new government from forming.
There is plenty of libertarian theory on how a stateless society could work, and how violent takeovers would not only be impractical, but outright impossible. I'm not going to go over all of it here, but in short, a company can only make money in the long run if it fullfills the needs of it's customers. And people in general have a desire to not be aggressed against. In other words, there is much more profit (and thus, economic power) in protecting people from aggression, rather than trying to forcefully rule them.

Look, corporations are just people working together. They can't do anything any other person can't do. Governments on the other hand are people with the right to initiate the use of force against others. That is the problem right there. These are people who are given extra rights that other people don't have. If a corporation has rights they shouldn't have, those rights are always granted by the state. The problem is always socialism.

Does Communism support free speech? by LarrySwinger2 in funny

[–]ctvzbuxr 12 insightful - 3 fun12 insightful - 2 fun13 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Capitalism is based on live and let live, meaning that nobody gets hurt by capitalism. The supposed injustices of capitalism are either a result of nature, or a result of government action, which is arguably not a capitalist institution, since it violates property rights to exist. As a result, free speech is possible in capitslism as there are no victims of the system that could speak out against it (or in the case of limited state campitalism, only relatively few). Only some communists, who are usually upper or middle class yuppies who are larping as oppressed victim classes.
In communism, the system is based on aggression - the property of the productive is stolen and distributed to serve the powerful, poverty and crime are rampant as a result of the catasrophic lack of productivity. Of course such a system would, even in the best scenario, not allow for poeple to tell the truth about their living conditions. Once the revolution is won, there is a small time period where the whealth of the former capitalist society is plundered, in which the supposed success of the revolution is celebrated, and once the revolution runs out of poeple's money, the curtain falls.

Slavery was normal throughout most of human history. War, murder and rape are natural parts of human behavior. That doesn't mean those things are good. Civilization occurs when we tame our nature, control our worst impulses and embrace reason and evidence.
I'm not saying a certain amount of tribalism is not acceptable. I like people who are similar to me. I like the culture and values that I grew up in. I don't want government funded mass immigration, because I want to preserve these things. But it is one thing to want to preserve that which you hold dear, and another to see others as worthless or lower than you. We cannot lift ourselves up by denigrating others. Ethics must come before tribalism, the virtue of a person's character must be more important than the color of their skin. Otherwise, we give in to our darkest impulses, no better than cavemen.

Absolutely, though you can only refute an argument if the other person has made an argument to begin with. "X group of people suck" is not an argument that can be refuted, just a statement that should be ignored or riddiculed. Also, it gets exhausting in my opinion to have the same argument over and over again, hence the ignoring part.

I agree, it's annoying, but here's the deal: Any free speech platform will also be used by idiots and racists, even Ruqqus will eventually. The only way to get rid of them would be to institute censorship. Problem is, censorship doesn't stop with the people you disagree with the most. It will always spread. We have to stand on principle and just ignore/ riddicule these people. That's the best we can do, because free speech of those we disagree with is the necessary price for our freedom of speech.

If I get caught ignoring who's rules exactly? Who exactly will impose escalating levels of force upon me?
The answer is not government. The answer is politicians and policemen. These are people. People like you and me. People who don't have any more rights than you and I, because there is no magic sky ghost called goverment that makes them any different from you and me. Everyone else is not allowed to force their demands upon other people. So the people who call themelves government are criminals.
What you are doing is asking me to accept a lie because you think that this lie is somehow necessary for society to function. Unfortunately, I cannot do that, because once I accepted a certain truth, I cannot lie to myself any longer. And neither can you if you are honest with yourself.
Once you accept that government is a lie, you realize anarchy is the natural state of things. There is no going back from that realization. And once enough people wake up to this truth, things will change and we will adapt to a new reality, as humans have done every time a large superstition was revealed as such.

So, when I tell people I'm an anarchist, they always think I want to abolish government. It's funny to see their face when I tell them that the government doesn't actually exist. The only thing I want to get rid of is an illusion in people's heads. Once the belief in power crumbles, all those power structures that we think are real crumble. There is no power, only obedience.

I have seen lots of political posts on Saidit, but so far I'm not seeing lots of stuff that's fun. Meaning that people who want memes or entertainment will still resort to Reddit. No, the truth is, there are lots of people these days who don't belive property rights exist. These people would, if their ideology was brought to it's logical conclusion, steal the last shirt off your body and not have a shred of remorse about it. We have large portions of the population who are brainwashed by Marxists, who would bring western civilization to the ground. These people would, if they got their way, have you shot dead in the ground if you refused to surrender your means to defend yourself to their government. This is not an artificial divide. We are not people who ultimately want the same thing but are just played against each other. No. Our society is undermined by very evil people who need to be put in their place if we are to survive. That is the truth.

No, making money is not the sole purpose or any purpose of mankind. Producing resources is necessary for humans to survice. A market economy is simply the most efficient way to do that. How do I know? Because that's what people voluntarily tend towards when they have the ability to choose. The most efficient people create lots of great things, thus usually making the most money and sharing their ingenuity with the world. Unless, of course, the government intervenes into this beautiful process in an attempt to forcefully "share" the value of the productive with those who are not.

It's not going to go away in the next 4 years, because there are too many people believing that choosing the guy who rules you is freedom. And that brings me to my point: This is a very important election, because while the system does suck, there are still much better and worse options when it comes to who is going to rule you. Not only in the next 4 years - if Democrats get in, immigration and censorship might prevent them from losing an election ever again. You cannot create a free society if you import poeple from cultures hostile to freedom faster than you can possibly convert people to freedom.

Very few people hate anyone for his skin color or ethnicity. That would be an incredibly stupid belief to have. I don't think many people are that stupid or close-minded.

What you can do is gather data and statistics and compare different ethnicities based on that. You can't judge individuals this way. Like, if a high percentage of immigrants into the US vote Democrats, I can understand why a Republican or Libertarian wouldn't be too happy about masses of them being imported into their country via their taxes. I don't think this is such a controversial position to have; If immigrants reliably voted Republican, the US would probably have a borderwall visible from space right now. That doesn't mean Republicans hate brown people, they just don't like the system being rigged by immigration (this is obviously just one example, there are other points to it than that).
