I disagree. I actually like memes. I like to have fun on social media too. What's wrong with that? There are subs dedicated to certain kinds of content. A political sub should not be full of shitpost. A shitpost sub may not be the right place for serious political discussion. The user can decide which places he wants to be a part of. I have seen lots of political posts on Saidit, but so far I'm not seeing lots of stuff that's fun. Meaning that people who want memes or entertainment will still resort to Reddit. If we want to make this site mainstream, we shouldn't be afraid of going mainstream.

Tell you what, I see you're past the probation period so you can make subs. What's a fun sub that you want to start having more participation in? If it doesn't exist, make it. Let me know what it is, and I'll try to check it once a day for a while and give it some action (no promises I'll post if it's not something I know).
