Fuck people who hate others based on their race or origin. Nobody chooses to be born white, jewish, asian, black or whatever else. What matters is our actions and who we are. There is no jewish controversy here. This is a controversy about people wanting to use this platform to spill blatant racism. And let me make one thing clear: There people should still be allowed to speak. But seriously, fuck these people.

I agree, it's annoying, but here's the deal: Any free speech platform will also be used by idiots and racists, even Ruqqus will eventually. The only way to get rid of them would be to institute censorship. Problem is, censorship doesn't stop with the people you disagree with the most. It will always spread. We have to stand on principle and just ignore/ riddicule these people. That's the best we can do, because free speech of those we disagree with is the necessary price for our freedom of speech.

Does Communism support free speech? by LarrySwinger2 in funny

[–]ctvzbuxr 12 insightful - 3 fun12 insightful - 2 fun13 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Capitalism is based on live and let live, meaning that nobody gets hurt by capitalism. The supposed injustices of capitalism are either a result of nature, or a result of government action, which is arguably not a capitalist institution, since it violates property rights to exist. As a result, free speech is possible in capitslism as there are no victims of the system that could speak out against it (or in the case of limited state campitalism, only relatively few). Only some communists, who are usually upper or middle class yuppies who are larping as oppressed victim classes.
In communism, the system is based on aggression - the property of the productive is stolen and distributed to serve the powerful, poverty and crime are rampant as a result of the catasrophic lack of productivity. Of course such a system would, even in the best scenario, not allow for poeple to tell the truth about their living conditions. Once the revolution is won, there is a small time period where the whealth of the former capitalist society is plundered, in which the supposed success of the revolution is celebrated, and once the revolution runs out of poeple's money, the curtain falls.

"X group of people suck" is not an argument that can be refuted, just a statement that should be ignored or riddiculed. Of course it's not quite the same as systemic, forced censorship by a totalitarian government. It's an exaggeration to get the point across. Also, just because Reddit is private and doesn't show up at your house doesn't mean everything they do is okay. They claim to be impartial, but they're not. This is false advertising and manipulation of users. Reddit would not be as big if people knew just how one-sided it is, but they still want to use their unjustly maintained reach to influence elections. This is highly immoral behavior. If reddit wants to be partial and censor their content, they should be open and up-front about it, label themselves as a left-wing platform, and nobody in their right mind would complain about it.

I mean yes, it isn't freedom. The system is horrible, and we shouldn't have anyone ruling over us in an ideal world. Problem is, the system is in place. It's not going to go away in the next 4 years, because there are too many people believing that choosing the guy who rules you is freedom. And that brings me to my point: This is a very important election, because while the system does suck, there are still much better and worse options when it comes to who is going to rule you. Not only in the next 4 years - if Democrats get in, immigration and censorship might prevent them from losing an election ever again. You cannot create a free society if you import poeple from cultures hostile to freedom faster than you can possibly convert people to freedom.

Very few people hate anyone for his skin color or ethnicity. That would be an incredibly stupid belief to have. I don't think many people are that stupid or close-minded.

What you can do is gather data and statistics and compare different ethnicities based on that. You can't judge individuals this way. Like, if a high percentage of immigrants into the US vote Democrats, I can understand why a Republican or Libertarian wouldn't be too happy about masses of them being imported into their country via their taxes. I don't think this is such a controversial position to have; If immigrants reliably voted Republican, the US would probably have a borderwall visible from space right now. That doesn't mean Republicans hate brown people, they just don't like the system being rigged by immigration (this is obviously just one example, there are other points to it than that).

No, the truth is, there are lots of people these days who don't belive property rights exist. These people would, if their ideology was brought to it's logical conclusion, steal the last shirt off your body and not have a shred of remorse about it. We have large portions of the population who are brainwashed by Marxists, who would bring western civilization to the ground. These people would, if they got their way, have you shot dead in the ground if you refused to surrender your means to defend yourself to their government. This is not an artificial divide. We are not people who ultimately want the same thing but are just played against each other. No. Our society is undermined by very evil people who need to be put in their place if we are to survive. Slavery was normal throughout most of human history. War, murder and rape are natural parts of human behavior. That doesn't mean those things are good. Civilization occurs when we tame our nature, control our worst impulses and embrace reason and evidence.
I'm not saying a certain amount of tribalism is not acceptable. I like people who are similar to me. I like the culture and values that I grew up in. I don't want government funded mass immigration, because I want to preserve these things. But it is one thing to want to preserve that which you hold dear, and another to see others as worthless or lower than you. We cannot lift ourselves up by denigrating others. Ethics must come before tribalism, the virtue of a person's character must be more important than the color of their skin. Otherwise, we give in to our darkest impulses, no better than cavemen.

Wrong. This little "detail" is what makes all the difference in the world. Capitalism is the revolutionary idea that people can act out their rational self-interest WITHOUT the use of force. The idea that people can pursue their own happiness not at the expense of others, but to mutually agreed terms. And this system has, for the first time in human history, managed to channel people's natural self-interest in a way that has lead to more productivity than ever before. Socialism on the other hand is the insane belief that if you could somehow get people to act against their own rational self-interest, you could create paradise. And it has failed spectacularly, every single time it was tried.

First of all, quarantines are happening all around the world, and are going to happen most likely in your country. That alone is a reason to stock up on some basic necessities. Plus, it is never a bad idea to be prepared for an emergency in general. Toilet paper doesn't run away, and food reserves can be eaten over time and replaced before they expire. Second, I would take this more seriously. I can only work with the data that I have. It is easy to always say that every official number or statistic is wrong or fake, but the truth is, if we operate under this assumption we quickly run into territory where we can't operate at all because we have no information about anything. What I see is a global pandemic that has massive consequences for economies around the world, an unbroken exponential growth rate, governments everywhere freaking out, this is reason enough to prepare and be vigilant.

[–]ctvzbuxr 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The real value of a currency lies in the fact that it is a medium of exchange. Any currency is only useful if enough people agree to use it. So whenever you invest your value in money (yes, even and especially govenment paper money), you take a risk that your value could shrink or in extreme cases vanish, because you are not entitled to other people trading with you, if they don't value your medium of exchange. Even gold wouldn't be nearly as valuable if it was just a commodity for use. The point bitcoin advocates make is that bitcoin COULD potentially be a much better currency IF enough people were to use it, because it can't easily be inflated, stolen or taxed (but I repeat myself), and it can be transfered digitally while being anonymous and without much efford. If you decide to invest in bitcoin, you hope that enough people in the future will be using bitcoin for it to have value, just like you do when you use gold or silver, or dollars (which are constantly de-valued by central banks). The alternative to using a currency is substisence farming or bantering for goods and services.

Voluntarism means all human interactions must be voluntary. Anarchism means there is no ruler, i.e. nobody who can force his will upon you (except in self-defense). And capitalism means respect for one's property (aka capital), which includes the body - rendering aggression (and thereby coercion) invalid. So, how are those not exactly the same? Anarcho-Capitalism and Voluntarism are just what happens if you let people be free. How such a system will look like, I can't definitively say, but it doesn't matter how you call it.

None of these things limit the freedoms of your average citizen in such a way as the quarantines now. I live in Germany, they have started prohibiting people to go out in some places (not even the epicenters of the virus), we have Merkel saying that probably 2/3 of Germans will be infected, we have schools, restaurants, pretty much everything closed down that's not a supermarket. Something like this is quite literally unprecedented.

Well, yes. The proportions don't seem right. The proportions of response to threat levels I mean. Don't get me wrong, last thing I want to do is downplay the virus. If the official numbers are to be believed at all, it has an enormously high spread rate and could become seasonal, effectively a new worse version of the flu (which would be bad, as it would kill people each year, cause disruptions in the economy, and overall decrease human happyness). But the sheer extremity of the measures taken seems... yeah, out of proportion is the best way to describe it. It seems they are trying to systematically abuse this crisis to limit freedoms and human rights, which calls into question whether this was an accidental release or a planned operation.

Now people are trained to follow the "rules", without question. We're happily accepting massive changes to our lifestyles without understanding anything. This is an experiment and we're not even slaves at this point. They succeeded in creating a brainless population, worldwide. by Jesus in conspiracy

I don't think it's fabricated, I think the virus is something we should take seriously. But yeah, the response by governments has been blown way out of proportion, freedoms are being limited that should never be limited under any circumstances. And they will try to use this crisis to make permanent changes to legislation that limit our freedoms permanently.

I didn't say government. Little trivia about me: I'm actually an anarchist. I believe that anything can be resolved without government interference if enough people put their minds to it. That is why I think it's important to establish better platforms such as Saidit, that are dedicated to free speech and will hopefully replace things like Reddit, given enough time. That being said, it's not that simple. Why do you think companies like Reddit are promoting left-wing politics so hard? Because they hope to acquire preferential legislation from the swamp creatures that keeps competition down and secures their monopoly. We are already competing with the power of the state here.

All religions have bad aspects about their texts and teachings, because they are ancient institutions from a time that was, by today's standards, barbaric and unscientific. What matters however is how a religious text is interpreted, and how it is lived today. The bible has problematic aspects to it, but christian teachings today for example focus more on the new testament, holding the other cheek, that kind of stuff.
This focus on Judaism as an object of hate is becoming very annoying on this site, and I must say that it discourages me from using Saidit more and more. I don't see western society (or any society) being threatened by jews. Jews have lived in our societies for centuries, contributed to our culture in meaningful ways, and were productive and often very successful members of society. Why can't you just stop obsessing over this stuff?

It's not actually that complicated if you reject moral relativism based on secular, universal ethics. You can never want to be raped, because rape must by definition be non-voluntary. Since rape cannot be universally rejected and accepted at the same time, the only universal can be that rape is wrong in all cases. Children can't possibly consent to sexual interaction, because they're not able to fully grasp what they would be consenting to. There you go, problem solved.

Second, you seem to be mixing up things that are objectively wrong (grooming children, abortion, cheating), with things may be degenerate, but not necessarily evil (transgenderism, bestiality), and with things that are perfectly natural but don't fit your personal tastes (homosexuality, polyamory). You may want to get that sorted out.

What an interesting perspective, to view people's property rights as a transitional state.
"Yes, you own that thing you workd hard for, but only as long as we deem it appropriate, and once we decide to have our revolution we will take it from you at a whim, in order to alleviate you from such an antiquated burden."
The truth is, people could already live in socialism right now if they wanted to. Socialists all around the world could put their money in a big pool, govern it as they see fit, and no capitalist in the world would do anything to prevent it. The truth is, capitalists have no problem with socialism either, as long as it's voluntary. But the truth is, voluntary socialism is just another form of capitalism. Capitalism is simply what you get when you let people choose how they govern what is rightfully theirs.

Actually, no. "Engineering" society always means forcing your citizens to act in a way that they normally wouldn't, otherwise there would be no point to it. If you think you know better what people should do than any person him-/herself, not only are you being incredibly arrogant, you will only harm people, not help them. Because chances are that most of the time, you don't even know what's best for yourself, let alone others. The best way to organize society is to let people be free.
You think that good and evil do not exist, think again. You don't want to be told what to do by a thereat of force. If you want to be told what to do, force is not necessary. That means you cannot want to force others to conform to your needs, and remain intellectually consistent. Either freedom is for everyone, or for no one. Evil people always want freedom for themselves, but enslave others.

If a corporation were to hire mercenaries to control a piece of land that they don't own, that corporation (if successful) would be the government of that land. I want to prevent that. The way to get rid of government is not to install another government.
What you are essentially saying is that a stateless society would be impossible. I disagree. If people can abolish their current government, they can prevent a new government from forming.
There is plenty of libertarian theory on how a stateless society could work, and how violent takeovers would not only be impractical, but outright impossible. I'm not going to go over all of it here, but in short, a company can only make money in the long run if it fullfills the needs of it's customers. And people in general have a desire to not be aggressed against. In other words, there is much more profit (and thus, economic power) in protecting people from aggression, rather than trying to forcefully rule them.

No, making money is not the sole purpose or any purpose of mankind. Producing resources is necessary for humans to survice. A market economy is simply the most efficient way to do that. How do I know? Because that's what people voluntarily tend towards when they have the ability to choose. The most efficient people create lots of great things, thus usually making the most money and sharing their ingenuity with the world. Unless, of course, the government intervenes into this beautiful process in an attempt to forcefully "share" the value of the productive with those who are not.
