Not a problem: https://archive.is/EQmaO

The point (IMO) isn't really about traffic-stats, it doesn't matter what Reddit thinks. Instead, it's about users, awareness, and not merely sitting there taking abuse from Reddit Admins & Moderators.

Reddit NoNewNormal: banned for .... being targeted by other major subreddits. by WhoFlu in censorship

[–]WhoFlu[S] 12 insightful - 4 fun12 insightful - 3 fun13 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

As I understand the story, a bunch of subreddit was set themselves to private in "protest" of the existence of the subreddit "NoNewNormal." Reddit initially put up a post saying they wouldn't censor those kinds of ideas (which contradicts previous actions, like quarantining /r/WuhanFlu). However, they've now reverse course and given in.

"OMG Censorship!" - Meh, I stopped giving a fuck about censorship on Reddit a long time ago.

The fascinating part is the meta!

  • Many of the biggest subreddits, including non-political subreddits, are run by radical leftists and willing to use their position of power for political purposes.
  • Now that Reddit admins have caved, it sets a precedent where these moderators know they can kick off similar "protests" and get other subreddits banned. Reddit Admins won't be able to "put this genie back in the bottle," and expect to see more of this in the future.
  • I'm not buying the Reddit Admin's recent post pretending to support free speech. In fact, we know many biased leaders of major subreddits were installed by the Reddit Admins.

Possible I suppose. The most recent post:

https://old.reddit.com/r/redditsecurity/comments/pfyqqn/covid_denialism_and_policy_clarifications/

Basically says the EXACT opposite of what spez's post said.

FYI, I'm not a fan of the term "anti-vaccine." Most of the skeptics are skeptics of these specific injections, in terms of effectiveness and safety.

I will note there's been a massive push to discredit and demonize "anti-vaxers" over the last 20 years, which seemed super-odd to me, given I never met one in real life. However, seeing how Covid was handled (by big-tech, big-pharma, WHO, CDC, etc) .... it makes me strongly suspect that the "anti-anti-vaxers" were a bunch of astrotrufers (hired by Big-Phara? Bill Gates? W.H.O.? World Bank types?)

"OMG, nutty conspiracy theorist!"

Whatever, they're doing it out in the open:

I don't give a fuck what Reddit does either, but I see this as more from the perspective of "Break out the popcorn!"

Now that Reddit either gave-in, or pretended to give-in to this type of "protest," they're not going to be able to put that genie back in the bottle. This will only encourage similar "protests" in order to remove various wrong-thinkers from the platform. There are a few posts there about "we shouldn't stop!" and I'm encouraging those redditards to not stop.

I can't wait to see more of these styles of protests.

Or by miscounting, and that observers were kept away?

That one is likely true.

The Kracken shit pushed by Sidney Powell is likely not true. However, part of figuring out that was full of shit was by actually being able to discuss it with other people, including those who genuinely thought it was true. It seems to me you just hate the idea that not everyone believes the same things you do, and just want it labeled as misinformation, and have then censored, and effectively doxxed to the government.

[–]WhoFlu[S] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

My parents had me vaccinated as a kid; most of those injections were well tested and understood at the time, and using relatively standard technique. I got a flu-vaccine once ... but I got the flu that year, and in the past 20-years, I think I've gotten the flu twice (including that year).

Now then I did get the covid vaccine because my job required it.

There are times in my life I'd have had almost no choice financially, and had to go along with it. For the moment, I'm basically self-employed, and don't have to worry about it ...yet. If I have to re-enter the job market, it could become a major obstacle though.

So am I anti vaccine despite getting it? I'd say yeah

One of the few upsides of this whole thing, is it's exposed a LOT of problems with the vaccine system in the US to a much broader audience than ever before. "Do vaccines cause autism?" Fuck if I know. What I do know is that vaccine manufacturers have ZERO liability, and the VAERS system has a lot of problems. Then there's all kinds of other stuff exposed, like the WHO's reputation of curing diseases, benevolence, etc was completely undeserved, and instead they're a political organization driven by financial interests.

I'm reminded of drugs prescribed to me when I had a severe accident. I told the doctors that I was aware of {insert injuries} but I didn't want anything addictive. They prescribed me two drugs; I forget which ones they were now, but they were basically two extremely addictive painkillers. After quick research, I didn't bother picking them up from the pharmacy. I'd rather deal with severe pain for a time, than severe addiction.

You can just look around at the opioid crisis right now, and recognize that the medical industry often doesn't have your best interests in mind, and ... while they should be consulted, shouldn't be blindly trusted.

Setting aside the ABSURD amounts of money these injection manufacturers are making, the point of this isn't really these specific injections, but rather to be able to force you to get medical treatments, when they want, without your consent.

Now, I'm more back to using about 6 discussion sites at a time, and that number is growing.

I actually don't mind platforms which remove speech, so long as they're consistent with their policies.

For example, I wouldn't be offended if Patriots.win removed pro-Biden content. Nobody's being deceived or expecting the site to operate differently. The problem is Ruqqus was FAR from honest, and did one of the biggest and fastest flip-flops I've ever seen.

I mean even if you have a normie world-view, I get a mostly-free-speech website banning Nazis due to their history of genocide (though I'd suggest also ban the commies for the same thing). However, the MGTOW ban comes across as if they were taken over by some SJW types. Some of the guilds on the list I know had no advocacy of violence, or the guild itself wasn't racist. For example, BlackLiesMatter was about critiquing BLM, a marxist organization. Yes, racists would show up, as they tended to do EVERYWHERE on Ruqqus, but the guild itself wasn't racist. And I never saw anyone advocating violence, with the exception of people wanting to defend themselves from riots ... and the people in those riots were of every race.

As mentioned in my other comments, I never removed posts for racism from any of my guilds, because I thought it was counter to Ruqqus's stated free speech goals. Even though my preference would have been to remove that kind of content. Most of the overt racists on Ruqqus would just show up, drop a bunch of n-bombs and blame Jews, and contribute nothing meaningful to the conversation.

There's a very interesting meta going on here:

Notice you have a large number of large subreddits colluding in an extremely political and biased way, as if they're all owned by persons who care far more about politics, than the subject-matter of their guilds. I've complained many times, that on Reddit you can't even look at cat-pictures, without one-sided-politics being shoved in your face. This is pretty damning evidence of that. I hope more subs join in, just to expose how massive this problem is.

Where Reddit actually stands in this ... meh ... don't care, they're dead to me for enough reasons already. Maybe they're smart enough to realize they still need a couple "conservatives" on their platform to avoid some kind of mass-exodus?

The meltdown is actually worse than the bad policies, and almost as bad as the arbitrary bans.

I might have been okay if it, if they were more honest. For example, "We decided we wanted to ban Nazis, because we were sick of supporting Nazis and seeing their filth on a daily basis, and watching them drive down the quality of the site. We're just a bunch of programmers." And then after announcing that, banning people and guilds .... for the exact reason stated.

At least they would still have their integrity, and be able to pursue that weirdo vision of just being software, and not a website.

Of course some of the guild-bans are absolutely absurd. Reversing MGTOW is meaningless, because the damage was done. Were they violent or not?

Also, why ban guilds? Most guilds are relatively unmoderated, due to limits on number of guilds you can GM, and non-existent mod-tools, and the stated philosophy around free speech. I almost never moderated content out of any of my guilds, even if it really annoyed the shit out of me, because I wanted to remain consistent with the overt free speech goals of the site. If users are posting garbage, ban those users. Or at least give the guilds time to enforce the new policies.

It might be helpful to have better searching and sorting tools. For example, one person might want to filter out memes , while another person actually wants to see memes. One person might want to not see anything about Trump, while another person wants to see everything Trump related. I'm keeping this comment somewhat open-ended because I'm curious about how others might solve these kinds of goals.

This goal is probably not the highest priority right now due to the generally low traffic, but could differentiate the website as it grows.

I don't know anyone claimed it was a huge gotcha.

The problem with this entire pandemic is there's a LOT of information that is pretty well known, but censored from social media and many mainstream sources. The lab-leak theory was pretty strong in March 2020, however you weren't allowed to talk about it for the longest time, and since then the evidence has only gotten much stronger, and a little over a year later, the MSM finally acknowledged what many of us already knew for over a year.

IMO, you might want to lower your expectations. I get the impression that a lot of people expect PV videos and leaks to be equivalent to what Edward Snowden dropped on the world, or some of the larger wikileaks dumps. Those kinds of leaks don't come around very often.

To someone like you or more, this is info we already know. However, it confirms we're not going crazy, and that the media gaslighting is gaslighting. To a normie that just watches the news, and only hangs out on mainstream social-media sites, this peels back the curtains in ways they might not be exposed to.

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result."

The short story is that anyone launching another "free speech reddit alternative" is almost certainly doomed to fail. I'm taking a completely different approach myself, which is why it's taking a long time, and not as simple as "Just clone X, get a few servers, and launch it!" I suppose a reddit-clone could get lucky, but I don't think any of the existing alternatives I've seen have shown they have what it takes to replace Reddit.

I apparently blocked that asshat pretty early. I don't remember why, but seeing/hearing someone I blocked was very buddy-buddy with the admins and contributing to the site was a VERY bad sign.

I think I saw a post of his recently (I was browsing in a logged out window, so I could see what someone was responding too) where he said something like "Sure I post a bunch of x-filth, y-filth, and z-filth, but I never posted any w-filth." So he was admitting being a troll. It's hard to be sure, but I think I might have origionally blocked him because he was intentionally posting content to drive people away from the website, and I suspected he was secretly a SJW who didn't believe anything he posted.

Someone else I recently promoted to a moderator in a guild was surprise-banned out of nowhere for no reason, and seemed to believe carp issued the ban.

I don't know why a single person would trust a guy like that, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was behind Captain and Kek basically giving up on the site.

However, as far as I'm aware, many of the ones on the list did not advocate for violence. Several of them weren't even racist/sexist/etc, such as "BlackLiesMatter" was all about critique of the marxist organization called "Black Lives Matter."

I searched Reddit for Obamagate, sorting by top-votes. It's like the entire website is blissfully unaware. I mean, there are even clear audio recordings now of Biden colluding with the president of Ukraine which sound creepily like they're sucking eachother off over the phone celebrating a money-laundering scheme.

The thing with a social-media exit is that we don't need a platform like Reddit or Facebook to die, just enough people to exit those platforms for smaller platforms. If 1% of people left Reddit, and 0.5% came here, and another 0.5% to Ruqqus, that would be more than enough traffic to launch two competing platforms. Over time, people would continue to drift over when they realize that Reddit actually kinda sucks and there's other viable alternatives.

Agreed, I try to keep a chart of the percent chances that something might happen within a specific time-period. While I still think a massive Digg-style exit in the next 2 years is less than 50%, I place a moderate-exit at above 50%. I keep noticing things slowly heating up on Reddit.

In a way, it seemed like the Ellen Pao incidents in 2014/2015 should have driven people off the side, but didn't. Now it 2020, the censorship and information control is absurd, and politics are fucking everywhere, and they've banned large segments of political discussion to the point approximately half the political spectrum is completely suppressed.

It's not just politics either, as I've seen most of my non-political and hobby related subreddits have gone down the drain. There's a noticeable increase in fun, interesting, exciting, or thoughtful content and the instant anything slightly political comes up it's like a flock of circle-jerkers show up out of nowhere pushing highly biased off-topic political nonsense.

What I mean is Reddit has become MUCH less fun, interesting, and educational than it used to be. The very reasons for going to Reddit in the first place are gone, especially if you try to stay out of politics. Personally, I intend to "self-ban" myself from politics again (this would be the 3rd time) once this corona-virus shit is over, it destroys my happiness and free time in a huge way.

I find Reddit Admin's moderation of the conspiracy subreddit to be a little absurd, people generally ignore conspiracy theorists ... unless you mess with them in ways that are really easy to prove. Conspiracy theorists are always looking for things like censorship, so the instant you censor something, the more they focus on it. I've actually found looking at r/conspiracy posts censored by Reddit Admins to be extremely insightful, even though i don't hang out on that subreddit.

Almost no advertiser cares. They just want more eyes on whatever they're advertising, and don't really care how the eye-balls get there. Even when you see articles about advertisers backing out ... that's always really temporary and only because of outside pressure. They resume their advertising a couple months later.

I'd also say the vast majority of investors don't care either, EXCEPT a select few who are ideologically driven and have learned how to leverage their ownership to push companies towards leftism, wokeism, and etc and recruited other share-holders of similar political persuasion. "Keep politics, sex, and religion out of the workplace" was a very common work-ethic and business-ethic for practically my entire life. attempts to substitute vaccinated immunity for natural immunity.

I've recently been seeing claims that there is a literal substitution. In other words, the vaccine "immunity" replaces and weakens the natural immunity. I'm still waiting on a little more confirmation, as I reserve skepticism for "all sides" but it's something I'm keeping an eye on.

I'm also a math-guy, and while it's hard to get good, accurate numbers, I'm starting to suspect that 12-months after vaccination (and assuming no boosters) that immunity will be worse than if you hadn't been injected at all. The short story is that after about 6-8 months, the efficacy starts to look almost identical to an un-vax'd person. However, we also have to remember how averages work.

I'm going to use fake numbers to illustrate here, but lets say we have 3 unvax'd people with a "Resistance" of 9, 10, and 11. They have an average of 10 resistance. Lets say we have 3 vax'd people, and their resistance is 15, 10, and ?? ... and their average is 10. That last number has to be "5" to bring the average across all 3, to 10. Unfortunately, the booster shots & lack of good data is going to make it difficult for us to actually get the kind of data which would prove or disprove my suspicions.

Vaccinologists will never be able to keep up with an ever rapidly-changing virus.

I always heard we would never really be able to make a virus vax growing up. I'm not a believer in "never" but, it does seem VERY odd to me that we'd suddenly have a vax virus now, and in such a short time, even if you throw massive amounts of resources at the problem.

I'm a software engineer, and there's a concept where if you throw more and more resources and people at a problem, it actually makes progress slower, because you start introducing overhead and increasingly complex communication channels.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooks%27s_law

I'd have to imagine that vaccine R&D is quite similar.

The risks that for-profit Scientiststm will actually fuck up our natural immunity in their clumsy efforts to "enhance" it are serious and should concern us greatly.

People like Bret Weinstein predicted quite a while ago that the vaccines would effectively produce variants, and that we'd naturally see covid become more infectious but less deadly. Effectively, the whatever variants the vaccine doesn't resist will become the predominant variants.

There's a rather large risk that these mass experiments into MRNA could cause all kinds of short, medium, and long term consequences we don't understand very well. We've already seen some of that with neurological effects, death, myocarditis, blood-clots, Endometrial cancer, miscarriages, bells palsy, and more ... and these are just the early side-effects. Endometrial cancer for example is one that is:

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/endometrial-cancer/symptoms-causes/syc-20352461

Endometrial cancer is often detected at an early stage because it frequently produces abnormal vaginal bleeding. If endometrial cancer is discovered early, removing the uterus surgically often cures endometrial cancer.

Isn't that interesting, it's DETECTED EARLY. Many other cancers can take years to develop before there are any signs of cancer.

But given that during that week, there was a population of 1,764,589 vaccinated vs a population of only 493,460 unvaccinated, the percentage of admissions within each group yields a significantly greater advantage to the 2-jab vaccinated - 85/1,764,589 = 0.005% vs 70/493,460 = 0.014%.

it appears the unvaccinated have about 3 times the risk of being admitted relative to their vaccinated cohort.

Numbers that small are effectively a rounding error. In the US, apparently hospitals typically test every unvax'd person for covid, but not the vax'd, and they count any positive test as a "covid hospitalization." Unfortunately with covid, I've seen far to many statistics turn out to be highly misleading, which is why I generally view everything with a degree of skepticism.

What I will say is even if we "trust the experts" we're still seeing data that suggests the vax's have little effectiveness after 6-8 months. So, we might say there's a short term "benefit" from a pure covid-numbers perspective (ignoring vax-injuries), but then you realize the vax strategy is endless "booster shots," where each booster adds to the side-effect risk in exchange for short-term protection.

This title is an opinion piece, but doesn't really present evidence of that opinion, which I think is unfortunate. "I have an opinion, change my mind" doesn't really contribute much to a topic, other than setting the stage with implicit or explicit assertions. You're partially right or wrong depending on exactly what you mean.

It's difficulty to know the intent of the moderators of WatchRedditDie, however there is an increasingly strict clamp-down by Reddit Admins on of what is, or isn't allowed to be posted on Reddit, and failure to enforce that by the Mods will result in the Admins banning that subreddit. Without r/WatchRedditDie, it would be much more difficult for people to find their way over to Saidit, Ruqqus, and other alternatives. The moderators of that subreddit do appear to try to unlock as much as they can, or post why they had to remove a specific piece of content.

I personally have had relatively free reign to promote Saidit and Ruqqus, and had most of my comments approved. I keep telling people to head over to these places that are outside Admin reach, and get off Reddit, if they really want free speech, and really want to expose Admin/Mod abuse.

If the guy was really on the verge of a major breakthrough, then the news should be able to report why they think that.
